Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!
Which is spookier, Andy Reid clock management skills or Mike Singletary's half time speeches?
This is the clarion call to everyone that Halloween themed questions will get priority over non-themed questions. And it would have to be Singletary's speeches.
Hey KC! Who would be better to target via trade -- Miles Austin or Dez?
It might be Austin because people might think he is going to drop off due to the his performance of late and because of Kitna, but don't buy into that. Austin will still be a fantasy point monster and if you can get him for a lower price, go for it.
Do you think Owen Daniels is a solid TE1? Or smart to make a play for Cooley?
His recent re-addition to the injury list is a concern (Daniels, that is). As long as that isn't serious, he is the better option down the road.
I am a huge fan of your work my friend! I have a dilema on my hands. Iv'e been holding on to L Fitz for some time now and he hasnt done me much of anything. On waivers Mike Williams (Seattle) is available..should i attempt to drop Fitz for Williams? Happy Halloween my friend!
Happy Halloween to you as well! I find it hard to believe there isn't someone else on your roster other than Fitz that you could drop, but if he is the only option, it is worth doing so to get Williams.
Ghastly, ghoulish choices at RB this week, due to die ... I mean bye ... weeks. JStew is obvious, but which is the lesser of two evils - Spiller or D Ward? Also, creepy Colston or beastly Bess?
Excellent creativity! Spiller should be the lesser of two evils. Colston is the way to go for question #2, although Bess is a borderline must start according to the TFS start-sit charts (more info about which can be found at www.thefootballscientist.com).
I want to SLAUGHTER my opponent this week. Who do you start at flex of Ronnie Brown, Steve Smith (CAR), Mike Williams (TB)?
Williams is the safest choice (he's the bell cow WR for the Bucs).
What's scarier? The fact that I'm having to start Nate Washington against you this week, or Mewelde Moore? Wait, that's not really scary for you, just scary for me...
With the injuries my team has, it will have trouble scaring you, so it will be a weak Halloween matchup!
What's a scarier desperation play this week... Blair White Project or Buster Davis
Both are facing weak secondaries but Davis will likely be a starter while White is a #3 WR who will share time with Gonzalez. Go with Davis.
Ok...which three pieces of candy would you like to find in your treat bag on sunday? Butterfinger Edwards, Austin chew, Big Daddy Crayton, or Snickers Bess (he always seems to satisfy)!
I'd take the Snickers bar, the Austin chew and the Butterfinger.
Is Vjax going to be a trick or a treat come week 12? Does SD even have to play him?
The Chargers will play him. Nothing would make AJ Smith happier than to see Jackson go out there and help his team win games. That way he would win the contract battle and get a productive player who helps post victories.
Am I Spooked??Do I still play Randy Moss (lackluster, QB issues & Belichek factor) in PPR Flex or Lynch @OAK or Beanie vs. TB, who play weak rushing ?D?s????
It really comes down to Lynch or Moss but this is the kind of matchup that Moss does very well in (he's motivated to show the world that NE made a mistake in not signing him to a long term deal). A motivated Moss is double digit points waiting to happen, so he's the pick.
Friendly (not scary) problem to have: Rivers or Roethsliberger....opponent this week is really good....probably need the higher upside play. Your thoughts?
It's good to remember that not all Halloween questions have to be frightening. Ben is the better pick because he has healthy pass catchers.
I lost Romo. Picked up Kitna and Stafford PLEASE tell me who you would play this week? THANK YOU
Kitna is ranked higher on the TFS start-sit sheets because of his WRs and because he plays a very weak Jacksonville secondary.
Please tell me you saw the league's Haloween episode last night! Ghost monkey song rocked. Anyways, need two wideouts and a flex. Options are Miles, Bess, Mike Williams south, Stevie Johnson, and Benson. And your recommendation is?
I've had numerous people tell me that show is hilarious, so I need to check it out. Have to see if it is on Hulu.com or something of that nature. Miles and Bess are the two WR recommendations. Benson would be the flex pick, although it is very close with Williams South (Johnson has a very tough matchup).
My fantasy team has lost Ryan Grant and Tony Romo. That alone is scary enough. Can Fitzpatrick be a decent pickup?
Don't feel too bad - Team Joyner has been injury plagued as well and is sporting a 3-4 record because of it. Fitz is a great pickup, as he is a vertical passer who is going to rack up points trying to hold his own in shootout games (the Bills defense stinks).
I'm going to kill my sister (in fantasy) this week, but I need to know if I should trade Jennings for Benson if my RB2 is Addai/TJones and my WRs are RMoss, Lloyd, Garcon. Thanks!
Nothing like a family that plays fantasy football together! Benson has a number of favorable matchups down the road, so that would be a trade to make.
Gooooood afternoon KC, happpppppy halllllooooooweeeen... What do you think of this trade I just made: Forte/Matt Ryan for Schaub/Sjax? My starting QB is Rodgers still, and I have Foster, Mathews, Felix, BJax, and Torain to cycle through at RB, with Sjax on the way. Good steal?
The Count reference reminds me of Count Chocula - did you know they only make that cereal at Halloween now? It used to a be a year round staple when I was growing up. Really like the trade, as the Falcons are going to a be a somewhat run-heavy team the rest of the year and Schaub will have to throw the ball a ton because of the Texans secondary.
Pure speculation pick for the fantasy playoffs. I've got an extra roster spot after this week (carrying an extra defender in an IDP league and my bye weeks are done) so I just want to pick up a lottery ticket for the playoffs. Who has the best chance to become fantasy relevant out of these guys: Tashard Choice, Bernard Scott, Deji Karim, Javon Ringer? Thanks!
I'd probably go with Karim in that one. MJD has had trouble shouldering the load late in the season and that could mean more split carries in that backfield.
Happy Hallows Eve!!!! I got a good problem, too many decent WR's. Who would you rather start this week, pick two. Dwayne Bowe vs BUF, Steve Smith (south) vs STL, or Kenny Britt vs SD? Thanks!!!
Britt and Bowe are the way to go - hey, that rhymes!
Do you think Jay Cutler dresses up as someone with a good personaility who doesn't throw a pick every 3 passes for Halloween?
As long as Cutler doesn't show up at my door dressed like Freddy or Jason, he can wear whatever he wants on Halloween!
Help! I spraypainted my jack-o-lantern black, and now I'm having flashbacks to Virginia Tech's terrifying uniforms on opening weekend! Seriously, in PPR, am I right to start Bowe and Britt at the WRs? Who should I start at flex, Beanie, Mike Williams East, Steve Smith South or Anthony Gonzo?
Yeah, those VT uniforms were, to put it diplomatically, memorable. Bowe and Britt are good PPR starts. For flex, go with Mike Williams East (interesting to call him that rather than Mike Williams South - we'll have to see if that catches on).
I have been offered Kenny Britt and Michael Bush for Hines Ward in a PPR league. Is this a "trick" or a "treat" for me?
Britt could offer little value the next few weeks. He has Jammer in coverage this week, then a bye, then has shutdown CB Vontae Davis after that. I'd probably not make the trade.
Which of these receivers brings home the least amount of candy this weekend? Garcon, Wallace, or Britt?
Britt is the most likely candidate since he faces one of the most consistent coverage CBs in the league in Quentin Jammer.
KC: need some sage advice, trust your opinion, or I might be spooked!!Tempted to play Jon Stewart over MJD this wkd with the news that D.Williams won't play. This is a non-ppr. What do you think?
Don't underestimate the Rams D. They are playing pretty well this year. I'd still go with MJD, especially since the Cowboys secondary is in bad shape right now (he could get ample goal line carries because of this).
Trick or treat, KC! Another manager has verbally agreed to a trade that centers around two oft-injured RBs. I would give up Knowshon Moreno - as well as Jeremy Maclin - for Darren McFadden who has been KILLING it lately. Thoughts on the deal, as well as the upside/outlook for those involved? Thanks, and Happy Halloween!
McFadden looks to be a sell high choice. Keep what you have, as the value long-term will be better.
Who to target in a delicious trade? Brady, Big Ben, or roll the dice with Flacco for the rest of the season?
Ben will probably post better numbers than Flacco, but the difference between them will not be great. If the price is too high, you might be best set to go with Flacco.
Lets play a game (in the voice of jigsaw)...I have a slow-acting poison coursing through my system in the form of Ronnie Brown, Darren McFadden, MJD, Deangelo Williams, and Ryan Torain that only you have the antidote for. Listen carefully. These are the rules. Pick two.
Having those RBs on your roster is definitely not poisonous! Go with Torain and DMC.
Would you trade LT for Steve Smith South and Cedric Benson. I am already stacked at WR...so not sure Smith will even get into my lineup except the Byes.
Stick with LT. Smith South probably won't offer much help and Benson, while good, isn't in LT's class at the moment.
Have I disappeared from Tom Brady's radar? What kind of WR could I get for myself in a trade?
If it isn't a PPR league, you might be hard pressed to much in return. Best option might be to wait for him to have a big game (he's apt to do so any time now) and then trade high.
Who is gonna put on the Productive WR costume this Sunday, Gafney or Steve Johnson?
The lineup matchup says that Johnson will face Brandon Flowers, one of the best CBs in the NFL right now. Gaffney has a much better matchup, so go with him.
Better QB for the year, Eli or Vick? Trade Harvin or Britt to get your choice?
His grill rules! Eli is the better pick because you won't have to worry about injuries as much as you will for Vick (plus he has some terrific receivers). I'd go with Harvin because of the aforementioned issues regarding Britt.
This year I am dressing up as Ace Ventura when he goes to the insane asylum as the ex-football player. Tu-tu and all. Can Blair White run the button hook fly pattern in super slow mo?
About fell out of my chair laughing at that one! Blair White is a good WR but his fantasy football issue is sharing PT with Gonzalez.
Hey KC, is Ryan that gig of upgrade over cutler or mcnabb? I would need to give Fred Jackson and a either QB to get Ryan, do it? My RB's are S.Jax, Torain, Charles, Felix, and Jackson, thanks
Mrs. Scientist is a huge fan of the Peanuts gang - can't forget them on Halloween! Ryan is an upgrade over McNabb but probably not over Cutler simply because Cutler will throw the ball a whole lot more. You should be in good shape at RB with your other options, so make the deal!
Are you frightened by the Texas beast Andre Johnson's weak ankle?
Not in the least. He's played through it before and excelled doing so, and this week will be no different.
Since its Halloween you should throw it out to the chatters as to what we are dressing up as. I am going to hold a football and clipboard with a Giants jersey and go as SAAAAGE!
Jimmy, that one is for you! OK, everyone, what are you going to dress up as for Halloween?
Uuugh. Jacob Tamme going forward?
Remember, it's pronounced Frank en steen (think that Gene Wilder movie I can't remember the name of). No reason to go with Tamme if you can get Pettigrew (who, if memory serves correct, is available in a large percentage of ESPN leagues).
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! Who should I start at TE this week? Cooley or Keller?
Cooley has the better matchup but Keller is still facing either a backup SS (Peprah) or one coming off of an injury (Bigby). I'd go with Keller.
Who do I play in a ppr league, driver, blount, or crayton? pick 2
Blount and Crayton are the way to go - Driver is injured and has a tough matchup.
I lost Clark (no, I didn't bite him) but picked up Daniels. He seems to be getting healty at the right time, at least. How much of a horrible drop off is that? From #2 TE to about #8 or so through the end of the year? #10 maybe?
The TE position is in such bad shape right now that Daniels is probably a top 10 TE already. He'll likely get more productive as the season progresses (assuming this most recent injury isn't more serious than first thought). It's still a drop off but not as severe as most Clark owners are going through.
You seem FRIGHTENINGLY high on Bess.. with recommendations to use him over Crayton and Mike Williams. Why is that Dr. Joyner?
Please, I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV. KC or TFS will do just fine. Have you seen Bess' production of late? A ton of receptions, a good number of yards - he is very nearly this year's Wes Welker.
The only scary thing is how many of my questions go unanswered! Help a guy out! Pick 2 - Wells, Moreno, Lynch
It is a risky proposition to go to the Twilight Zone, but I'll risk it. Go with Lynch and Moreno.
Close in the rankings, both have good matchups. Who do you like more, Big Ben or Kyle Orton
Ben is #2 on the TFS list, Orton
I was going to post a question, then I saw that earlier in this chat you advised to drop Larry Fitzgerald (who still ranks 8th in the NFL in targets) to pick up Seattle's Mike Williams (who has had exactly one 100 yard game and 3 TDs in his entire career). You're funny.
Did you note that I told the guy to find someone else other than Fitz to drop? Wiliams is on fire of late (31 targets the past two games) and he will be the focal point of that passing offense for the foreseeable future. It's a good percentage play (and even better if you consider Fitz has Max Hall throwing him the ball).
Team 1 (record 2-5) gives SJax and Colston to Team 2 (record 5-2) for Best and Steve Smith (Carolina). Is this vetoeable?
It's darn close to being vetoeable, but if you had asked that question last week (before Colston's big game), it wouldn't have hit the veto radar. I'd approve it.
I just traded Mike Wallace for Greg Jennings. Did I get a Trick or a Treat this Halloween?
It could be a treat in that Wallace doesn't catch many passes (although he seems to find the end zone on at least one of them every week). I'll take the high volume WR over a lower volume one, so it is a good deal.
KC, the chat is spooktacular as always. With Greg Jennings and Aaron Rogers visiting Revis Island this week, do you think that Mason Crosby is an even better play than normal?
He sure is. Also don't forget that Driver is injured and won't be the #1 target if the Packers decide to avoid Revis.
Brees has sucked the life out of my team lately. Do you throw him at the Steelers or risk it with Fitzgerald (-2/INT)?
I assume you mean Fitzpatrick? If so, he is the better choice this week in large part because Brees faces the Steelers. The odds that he puts up a good fantasy performance against them are not good and Fitzpatrick should have a more than solid day against the Chiefs. Well, it's been a scary good time today. Thanks to everyone for the very creative way you phrased your questions today. Quick note - you can follow my material on Twitter @kcjoynertfs. Hope to see you all next week!
