What's happening, everybody? I hope everybody is getting ready for the game tonight. Let's get this chat rolling ...
If Deng keeps scoring the way he is, will Denver pull the trigger with the Bulls for Melo?
Not unless Denver gets backed into a serious corner by Anthony and his representatives. Deng played a great game on Monday night, but that still doesn't mean that teams want his contract.
Hi Nick! Is Noah going to be a top 5 rebounder at the end of the season? Top 7 in blocks? Thanks!
As I've said before, I think Noah is going to be an All Star this year. I think he will finish second behind Dwight Howard in rebounds and will be in the top 10 in blocks.
Which Arena do you think is Better Chicago Stadium or United Center?
I never got to see a game at the old Stadium, but I heard it was EXTREMELY loud. The UC is nice, but it can be quiet at times.
Hey Nick, what do you think of Omer Asik?
Asik still has a long way to go, but as Thibs would say, he is getting better every day. I think he is going to help the Bulls more than people think this year.
What kind of difference do you see between Thibs and VDN?
As Rose said yesterday, Thibs is detail-oriented. Very detail-oriented. He stops practice every time he sees a problems and you can hear him always teaching, even through the walls, at the Berto Center. VDN taught his players as well, but from what it sounds like, the practices weren't nearly as hands on.
What is your best guess at Boozer's return?
Best guess would be December 1st vs. Orlando.
Hey Nick huge fan, I am a big fan of Noah but wish he would cut his hair. Do you think the Bulls, NBA or someone could get him to cut his hair?
Kathy, I don't see any way Noah is going to cut his hair. He loves being different and that hair definitely sets him apart from everybody else.
I hear of rumors of Andre Iguodala coming to the Bulls. Do you think its true and do you like it?
As I learned early, anything is possible with the Bulls. Having said that, I don't think Iguodala coming to Chicago gets them that much closer to a title. I don't think his presence would help the Bulls beat Boston, Miami or Orlando, so why would they make the deal?
How do the Bulls limit the early foul trouble that theyve been getting into?
Thibs has been stopping practice every time they commit a stupid foul and I'm sure the players are getting sick of it. I'd look for the Bulls to improve in that area soon.
How will we have any chance against miami, with the way they are playing D?
I never thought they had much of a chance against the Heat this season in a seven game series, anyway.
hey nick, whats up with brewer and if its an injury why aren't the bulls saying it is?
Brewer says he is fine. Thibs says he is fine. The thing is, he doesn't look fine. He is still lacking explosion and is having a hard time finding his shot. Eventually, I think he'll start getting more minutes, but Thibs is content to use Bogans a lot more right now. I'm not sure why the team is being so cautious as it pertains to Brewer, but clearly he is still not 100%.
Rose scored 39pts. Bulls win. Rose dishes 13asts. Bulls win.Which do you think is more important, scoring or handing out assists?
Assists. If Rose had 13 assists every game the Bulls might win closer to 60 games. That would mean that he is getting everybody else involved. If he does that, the Bulls are going to be tough to beat.
Hey Nick, why hasn't Kurt Thomas gotten any minutes especially when we are in foul trouble?
I think Thibs is just trying to figure out exactly what he has in Asik. Thomas was brought in to be a good locker room guy and to help out down the stretch. He will get a chunk of playing time down the line.
Nick, when Boozer gets back, do you think the Bulls go to Ronnie Brewer at the two because of the familiarity with Boozer and his legs looking like they are coming back? And I know its early, but do you see the Bulls going after another big to back up Noah? Omer is still a project and Kurt Thomas is still a power forward at best. What are your thoughts
I think Bogans will stay in the startling lineup for now. And no, I don't think the Bulls will go after another big man. They like Asik and they are confident in Thomas.
Will I get any minutes after Boozer gets back?
Probably not, but Thibs does love you so you never know.
can the bulls re-aquire kirk hinrich?
Why? Kirk is a good player, but he's not going to get them any closer to a title.
Getting to watch D.Rose in high school at Simeon, we knew he was going to be something special. Now only a few years later at 22 he is a top PG in the league. How long until he is in a category all by himself?
I think in two or three years Rose will be the best point guard in the league.
Bulls-Celtics tomorrow, who would win in a fight Garnett or Noah?
Good question. I'll take Noah just because he bulked up this summer and has a little more energy. KG is getting old.
Instead of pursuing Carmelo, how would you feel about the Bulls pursuing Josh Smith? He was rumored to be on the Hawks trading block as of earlier this week.
Here's the question you have to ask yourself: Would Josh Smith get the Bulls any closer to a title? No.
Now that you seen Omer play, what do you think his ceiling is? Do you think Omer is better than Aaron Gray?
Omer was better than Aaron Gray when he stepped off the plane from Turkey.
do you see the bulls going for a better option at the 2 guard spot any time soon? its by far the weakest spot on the team and needs to be addressed soon.
As Gar would say, I'm sure the Bulls are looking at all the options, but who would they go get right now? Give me the scenario that actually works. Thibs likes Bogans and he loves Korver's offense. Sure, they could improve, but I don't think they are intent on making a deal if they don't have to.
Do you think the JJ game against Detroit was a fluke? Or was the POR game just a bad barometer because he was in foul trouble?
There is no question Johnson has improved, but I still don't think the team knows exactly what they have. I don't think the Detroit game was a fluke, but he has to keep playing well in order for Thibs to keep him in the rotation.
Which of the Bull's off season signings looks the best right now? Any bargains or good surprises so far?
As Marc Stein pointed out earlier this week, the best signing right now is probably Noah's. If he stays healthy and continues to produce, that deal will end up looking like a bargain ... and that's a crazy thought.
Do you believe there is anybody the Bulls could acquire who could help them towards a championship? Or do you believe that the Heat are unbeatable and all is lost?
If they get Melo they have a chance, otherwise I still think the Lakers are the team to beat.
Nick, I see Rose avoiding contact every time he drives to the lane. Do you think he is afraid of contact/getting hurt, or does he just enjoy making these very acrobatic lay-ups?
I don't think he's afraid of the contact. I think you'll start to see him drive down the lane even more this season.
On a scale of 1-10 how strong is Melo to Bulls?
Right now, 1. To borrow a line from Dumb and Dumber ... "So you're saying there's a chance."
It seems like every possible bulls acquisition we give you doesn't get us closer to a title. Which players, other than 'Melo, do you think the bulls have an actual shot to acquire AND would put us closer to a title?
You tell me. I don't think there is a single available player out there right now besides Melo that would get the Bulls closer to a title this season.
Maybe it is just me, but Watson has been hugely disappointing so far. He looks more like an off guard rather than a backup point. I realize that he isn't going to be playing huge minutes, but Rose still needs a breather. Early season "growing pains" or cause for concern? (And yes, I understand picking nits about backup players is a wonderful problem to have.)
Cause for concern. Watson definitely looks like more of a two-guard to me as well. It will be up to Thibs to see if he can transform Watson's game a little bit as the season rolls on.
Nick, I know you've said before that the bulls CANT compete for a championship this year. WHY NOT? They have the best young PG/C combo in the league by far and the experience the past 2 years in the playoffs cant hurt. Am I the only one who thinks the Bulls can shock the world this year?
You're not the only one. Fans e-mail me every day and tell me that they believe the Bulls can win a title this year. I just don't think they're ready right now. The pieces are in place for the future and Rose is only going to get better, I just don't think they can contend this year without adding Melo, or somebody else who can put up 30 a game.
Nick, over the course of the whole year, who do you think will be most improved, Omer, JJ, Brewer . . . ?
Omer, because he is only going to get stronger and more confident as the games pile up.
Nick, 95-96 Bulls vs 10-11 Heat. Who wins in a 7 game series?
Da Bulls. They have Michael Jordan. The Heat don't.
scottie pippen's wife is absolutely gorgeous. what do you think, nick?
Scottie did very, very well for himself. Mrs. Pippen has quickly become a fan favorite.
What kind of bulls team should we expect to see tonight? Knicks?
You should expect to see a Bulls team that gets an easy win. The Knicks aren't very good.
Do you like how coach Thibodeau is handling the minutes between all the players with the foul trouble that has emerged as an issue of lately?
I think Thibs has done OK with the minutes so far, but there have been a few times I've wondered why Rose was still on the bench at times. He's still figuring out his rotations and his substitution patterns, so I think it's too early to pass judgments on them one way or the other right now.
What are you predictions for tomorrow nights game? Who takes it Bulls or Celtics?
Celtics. The Bulls will be playing on the second night of a back to back.
how come kyle korver isn't getting time like he in Utah
Korver is going to get more minutes, Thibs is just trying to raise his defensive game before the season really gets going.
You think with Boozer coming back in December, it will affect whatever chemistry the team has built up thus far on the court?
I don't because Boozer has been around the team all year. I think he has fit in pretty well thus far.
Do you think the Lakers or the Heat has a chance to beat the Bulls rec for wins in the reg. season?
All right guys, I will talk to everybody next week. A good chat as usual. If you're at the game tonight, or tomorrow in Boston, come down and say hello.
