Good morning all! We've got an hour of fantasy chattage to get to, so let's get to getting to it. Second cup of coffee is in hand... who is up first?
How much will PT eat int Ivory's playing time? Can we still expect 20 carries?
Nope. I think PT gets a taste this week, but it's still Ivory's show -- that being said, I'm not sure to expect more than 15 carries given the number of passes Brees may launch.
Still looking for another RB. Felix Jones or Choice? Which one should I pick up?
Choice is my choice... not only does he have very fresh legs, but Coach Garrett is not as shy about using him as Wade was.
Bo Scaife? BO SCAIFE?? And with no time left on the clock and down by 9. Why would Fisher do that to us? And why should an owner who actually started him get rewarded like that? This is why fantasy football is maddening.
It's not like any owner has any control over anything, Bob. You start the lineup and the chips fall where they may -- and for Scaife, they fell right. What's more maddening is the point spread that was affected by the score.
AJ: Are there any guys this week that you'd consider sitting based upon weather conditions in the cities where they are playing? How about guys you'd start for the same reasons?
Weather conditions rarely matter to me -- the only concern is wind or an actively driving blizzard. Cold and rain and even snow is not usually a factor in the end... but since neither Chicago nor New England, for example, use deep routes to get their offenses to click, the wind there isn't a factor... save for the kickers who I would avoid like the plague.
If he starts, go with Nicks? Injuries have me down to Roy Williams and Johnny Knox to roll with AJ.
No, I'd sit Nicks. Williams is the better option to me. Take a look at what Britt did last night, in his first game "back" -- I just think WRs need at least a week to get timing back with their QB.
Do I start over Dixon this week? Agonizing over this one AJ!
Tough call, but I think I go Dixon. GB likely to go with a heavy rotation, and Dixon should get 60-40 split.
I have multiple mid-range QB options (my ranking order): Schaub, Kitna, Sanchez or Cassel. Would you agree and go with Schaub?
Can't go Cassel due to appendix. I'm big on the Sanchize this week making the comeback.
Speaking of Starks... would you start him over guys with bad matchups, Cedric Benson and Brandon Jacobs in particular?
Without a doubt over Cedric the Not-so-Entertaining. Jacobs is a better candidate to me though.
AJ PLEASE ANSWER: I'm fighing for my playoff life here: Do I roll with Orton this wek or go with Freeman?
Freeman is the safer play -- but Orton could be top 5.
Eagles D or T.B D this week in a must win! Thanks AJ
Bucs. Philly and Dallas always seem to be 70 point offensive showcases.
Help Santa too busy should I start Forte or Freddy Jackson. If you answer my question Ill put a good word in for you with my hubby
I like Forte. If the weather is bad enough, I think offenses do better than usual because the guy with the ball knows where he is going. The defensive players will have a harder than usual time reacting.
Crabtree or Branch? Tolbert or Blount? Boss or Shiancoe?
Crabtree, Blount, Boss.
If your opponent was playing Flacco, would you pick up Mason for flex over options like Harvin or Tony Gonzalez?
I do that regardless. Mason is far and away the best choice of the three.
Should I take a chance on V. Jax or go with OchoCinco vs. Bal?
Obviously, you can make that call up to the last minute. Jackson is the way I'd go, assuming he does indeed suit up.
Would you sit Eli in favor of Garrard or Freeman? Love Freeman's matchup and Eli makes me nervous. I need to win to make our playoffs
I would take a chance with Freeman this week. The matchup is very tasty indeed. Not going near Garrard though... team too reliant on MJD.
Sid Rice or D Bowe?
Rice. I'm not super down on Bowe, but given the very real chance Cassel is out, I'd rather stay away.
Want to throw a baseball question into the mix.Does the Red Sox addition of Craford and Gonzalez make Pedroia even more Valueable?
Let's see how the whole off-season shakes out before we make evaluations like that. It all also depends on the batting order that Boston ultimately decides to go with, because if Crawford leads off, you can kiss Ellsbury's value goodbye, for example.
LOVE Jacoby Ford's upside this weekend, what says you? Start him over someone like Branch?
No. Ford is a WR3 at best... Branch is WR2 in my mind.
Is Tamme a safe play moving forward? Last night, he wasn't in on any running downs and lost redzone looks to Eldridge? Was it because of his injury?
Even if it was, that's more of a function of the short week than anything else. With EXTRA time off now going forward to Week 15, I expect him to be fine.
Baseball? This week? Really? AJ, the loser I play this week has Desean and McCOY going. So you would grab Celek to off set that? Baseball?
Yeah, John -- there's no baseball news at all this week. I apologize. How exactly does having Celek offset anything if and when Shady and D-Jax score three TDs combined?
Thx, AJ! I badly need your help Guru. Please pick 3 to start: A.Boldin, M.Lynch, M.Floyd, StevieJohnson, JamesStarks?
Go with the three WRs. I am still mystified at the Starks love.
Good dilemma to be in: choose 3 out of Foster, Mendy, Moreno and Charles.
I'll rank 'em: Mendy, Moreno, Foster, Charles.
Should I start Dixon over Earl Bennett as my flex option this week? Supposedly bad conditions coming to Chicago and Dixon will be playing against Seattle's porous D. "Hold on Eddie, I am chatting with AJ". Thanks The Beav!
Dixon for me... I think Knox is the only Bears' WR I'd consider this week.
You're pretty high on Freeman this week, would you start him over Cutler?
No, not Cutler... he is a dump-off king and wind won't affect a two yard pass to Forte.
Chares or Bradshaw? Maclin, Welker or Fitzgerald?
Jamaal... and Jeremy.
I'm in a must-lose situation: Who do I start, Derrick Mason or Roy Williams?
Roy Williams. It's the wrong-color sun for him this week.
Is the chance Cassel doesn't play enough to bench Charles for Forte this weak?
I like Forte over Charles this week, yes. Expect the Chargers to show no respect for the pass, regardless of who ends up under center.
1/2 PPR, do I go with Mike Williams (SEA), Ochocinco, Vincent Jackson, or Steve Smith (CAR)? Thanks!
Believe it or not, Smith. Williams and V-Jax too dangerous.
With Dez Bryant out and a potential change in offensive philosophy for Denver, is Miles Austin a safer start than Brandon Lloyd?
I don't think it changes that much -- the players are the same, and it's not like Tebow is going to suddenly get 50 snaps. Austin is a "safer" start in that there are fewer alternatives for Kitna (Ogletree? Seriously?)
Look, you know I'm starting me this week. But should I also start my boy Mike Thomas, or should I find other options?
Hate to see Thomas get Nnamdi'd out of points, and don't love to double-dip in general.
In the unlikely event that A. Johnson doesn't play, should I play Walter, Jones or TJ Housh as a last minute replacement? PPR.
Jones. Walter is far better with AJ than without.
Is it getting to the point where you have to drop Randy Moss? There are a couple of options out on the waiver wire and it seems Moss is clogging up a spot on my roster.
It's about a month past the point where you should have gotten rid of Moss.
Boss, Watson or Dickson at TE?
Boss. I don't like Dickson at all as a fantasy player.
Lynch, Choice, or Torain (only if Shanahan somehow names him the starter) in PPR flex? Obomanu over Bowe if Cassel doesn't play? Boss or Keller?
Choice is my choice. Not sure Obo will be able to play a full game -- got to go with Bowe there regardless. Boss for me.
Bucs D or Browns D? Thinking the conditions in Buffalo might favor the D.
I like the Cleveland D and there's the added bonus of a possible Cribbs score... Another 8-0 affair would be nice, no?
Ok, you have answered all my questions expect the fate of Big Ben? Is he worth the play this weekend over the Likes of Orton? He is at home
Short answer? No. Long answer? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Can you explain why you are low on Dickson? Flacco gave him SEVEN targets last week! And now they're up against the lousy Houston D! If not Dickson, how about Celek? I'm desperate!
They are a lousy defense, which means there's not as great a need to steer clear of WRs. Plus, BALT needs to not be as transparent with offense: "Pitta in, run. Dickson in, pass." Got to mix it up more.
Not sure why Falcons D isn't ranked higher this week. Seems like a dream matchup against Carolina. Would you go with Pitt D instead?
Ranked by whom? They're MY personal top choice.
Everyone keeps telling me to start S. Johnson but doesn't the high potential (80% chance) of snow really hurt his value?? Fitzpatrick had a bad game in the RAIN against a generous Lions D a few weeks ago. Are you not worried about the snow for a WR??
Let me say this again, Mark. Weather is irrelevant, and if anything, a slick field helps the offense more than it hurts. Apart from hurricane-force winds and a driving blizzard that prevents visibility, WR know the routes they are running which leads to far more slippage by DBs.
You cannot drop Randy Moss, not even in a 10 team league. He has to be a better WR injury replacement/bench depth guy than anyone on the waiver wire. He's still Randy Moss.
Yeah, those points are really adding up with zero targets per week, Steve.
No present for you AJ if you don't open up my question and answer it! I WILL TAKE YOU OFF MY LIST! Depleted by injuries! Start 3 Anthony Dixon, Westbrook, Shonne Greene, Santonio Holmes, Choice, and Starks.
Dude, Hanukkah's come and gone... we don't all need you, Kringle. Holmes, Choice, Dixon.
What's your opinion on the better flex play this week? Wallace or Rice? thanks!
Assuming you mean Sid, I have them in a dead heat... but I go with Wallace. Don't love Farv-aris at QB all that much.
AJ - when you refer to your ranks, where can I find them? I only see TMR, Harris, EK and Kusilias on the rankings page. Thanks.
No problem newbie -- I don't "do" ranks, but you can find my projections on the site if you look hard enough.
Whick WR should I go with. I got Nicks, Bennett, Amendola, and Obomanu
Amendola. I'd go with Ben if not for being burned by him last week and that darn hand issue.
Opponent has picked up Cutler and both his appendices this week. Stick with Pats Def? Or is chance of double dip makng CLE or CHI a better choice?
BD, you are familiar with human anatomy aren't you? I fear for the youth of America. CLE over NE over CHI.
Give me some props this week, what will I do Sunday?
About 80 yards, but scoring may be a problem.
does a coaching change at this point of the season really effect players roles,It's not like they can put in a new offense in 1 week.
Not specifically, but a few extra runs as opposed to passes and a more positive attitude do sometimes turn the tide.
Anthony Armstrong Or Braylon Edwards this week?? thanks
Edwards. Jets beat up on Miami, IMO.
That's the 12 o'clock cuckoo! Thanks to all who asked questions... I'll be Twittering over the next few days if you couldn't get yours answered. Until the next time, good luck in the playoffs, and Be Seeing You!
