Chat with Dan Rafael

Dan Rafael
  (12:03 PM)

Greetings Fight Freaks from the legendary Mandalay Bay. I'm here covering Khan-Maidana, which is just part of a big fight weekend. We have plenty of coverage of the card and of the rest of the goings on in boxing -- the Klitschko fight being called off, the bantam tourney on Showtime, the new HOF class with Tyson and plenty more. Let's get to it!

Joe (NJ)

Has ESPN stated they are disappointed with the cancellation of the Klitschko fight or are they indifferent.

Dan Rafael
  (12:05 PM)

I have not spoken to anyone but I'm sure there is disappoinment. You never like to schedule something like that and have it called off four days before the telecast.

Koichi (NYC)

Do you know if they'll reschedule Wlad vs Chisora or have him fight another opponent when he's healed up? I wouldn't be surprised to see him fight Adamek instead in the first quarter of 2011.

Dan Rafael
  (12:05 PM)

Still up in the air. I know there will be more talks about a Haye fight and possibly Adamek though. I'd be a little surprised if Chisora was rescheduled.

Joel (Queens,NY)

Just saw the press conference of Alexander-Bradley I am real excited I cant remember 2 top American fighters in their PRIME fighting each other lately (Mosley not in his prime against Mayweather)

Dan Rafael
  (12:06 PM)

That is one of the reasons so many are looking forward to the fight.

Koichi (NYC)

Hey Dan, official pics for the BW tourny and the HBO card this weekend?

Dan Rafael
  (12:08 PM)

OK here are my official picks: I like Ortiz by decision over Peterson, Khan to stop Maidana late, Perez by decision over Agbeko and Mares by decision over Vic.

Sam (UK)

What size gloves are they wearing?

Dan Rafael
  (12:09 PM)

Khan-Maidana supposed to be 8 ounces according to the Nevada commission (to whom I asked this question last week in the chat).

brandon weiherer (wyomissing, pa)

Do you think Floyd Mayweather will fight in 2011? If so who do you think he will fight that will generate money besides pacman?

Dan Rafael
  (12:09 PM)

I have no idea. All depends on his court situations.

Jeremy (Texas)

Freak King, whats the latest on james kirkland? When can we expect him back in the ring?

Dan Rafael
  (12:09 PM)

Probably sometime in early 2011.

dylan (austin)

Any thoughts on the Bailey-Oauli fight tonite? Is there any American TV coverage?

Dan Rafael
  (12:10 PM)

That fight is supposed be taped delayed on Lou DiBella's Broadway Boxing series.

Tom (Washington State)

Dan, I'm attending the Bantamweight tournament Saturday. How approachable are Antonio and Al? Would love to have an autograph from Antonio that says, "Got any excuses tonight, Tom?"

Dan Rafael
  (12:11 PM)

Both guys are super nice to boxing fans. But if you approach them be polite and don't try to get their attention if it looks they are rehearsing or working. Otherwise, they are totally cool.

maniroc (Cicero, IL )

Is L. Peterson a free agent or still with @tprank?

Dan Rafael
  (12:11 PM)

The Peterson brothers had their contracts with Top Rank expire and they are free agents. However, if Lamont beats Ortiz, Golden Boy does have options on some of Lamont's future fights.

Marc (Malden, MA)

Got to go to a company meeting, but is Adamek now ready for a title shot?

Dan Rafael
  (12:12 PM)

He's been ready. Three fights ago or one fight from now, I still give him no shot against either Klitschko. He is as ready as he will ever be.

psycho (LaLaLand)

speaking of Tarver, is he still gonna fight more at HW or is he done?

Dan Rafael
  (12:13 PM)

Tarver plans to continue fighting at heavyweight.

Mikey (Levittown, NY)

Dan, I am on a flight with free wif! Am I the first freak to chat from the air?

Dan Rafael
  (12:13 PM)

This I do not know.

Michael (Long Beach, CA)

Would you say Khan is a bigger puncher than Ortiz?

Dan Rafael
  (12:14 PM)

I think they are similar. I don't consider either a "big" puncher but I would say for one shot, Ortiz might be a little bit better of a puncher. Both guys can score knockouts with volume and accurate punching.

JonG (Queens)

Its really too bad. With all the trash Chisora was talking I was really looking forward to seeing him get KO'ed. And especially now that he is suggesting that Wlad is ducking him(comical) I am legitimetely hoping the fight gets rescheduled, even though Haye and Adamek make for potentially better and bigger fights.

Dan Rafael
  (12:15 PM)

If Chisora really thinks Wlad pulled out because he was scared he is just a stupid person.

Chaz (Detroit)

I give BHop a real shot against Pascal next weekend - crazy ?

Dan Rafael
  (12:16 PM)

Not at all. I do too.

Justin (Seattle)

DTM, how does my weekend sound? Going to the Bantamweight fights on Saturday, recording WCB for later. All Freaks in the Puget Sound need to represent at the Emerald Queen on Saturday.

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

Good call. That's going to be a tremendous card.

Chris (Sylmar, CA)

If Viscious Victor Ortiz wins tomorrow, doesn't he deserve to be in the 140 mix with Khan/Maidana winner and the Alexander/Bradley winner?

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

Yes, and same goes for Peterson if he wins.

John (Overland Park)

Any news on Abraham's continued participation in the super six?

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

No. I assume he will compete until I hear otherwise.

Anthony (Sacramento)

Dan can you speculate why the Texas commission is holding back the drug test for Pacquiao and Cheato?

Dan Rafael
  (12:18 PM)

Their rules do not allow them to release the results without consent from both parties, which they have not yet secured.

Hayemaker (London)

like what I saw from Maddalone. Will be in contact with his people.

Jeff (OH)

Dan, thoughts on Stallone making the Hall of Fame? I say if Pete Rose can make the WWE Hall of Fame, Stallone can make the boxing Hall of Fame. I just thought he'd make the arm-wrestling Hall of Fame first, for "Over the Top"

Dan Rafael
  (12:20 PM)

I have no issue with him making it. There is a category for non-participant and he deserves it. He created the most iconic fictional fighter ever and inspired millions of people and numerous fighters. He contributed a lot to boxing because of Rocky. As Mike Tyson told me Tuesday night when we spoke: "He contributed more to boxing than a lot of champions." Tyson loved that he was elected and so do I. All sports induct people who don't actually compete -- be it upmpires or writers or executives. Stallone belongs as far as I am concered.

Aaron (Philly)

I found it funny that Bob Arum originally said the Marquez proposal was in the ball park & then all of a sudden they said Marquez was pricing himself out. It's obvious Team Pacquiao wants no parts of Marquez!

Dan Rafael
  (12:21 PM)

It's not team Pacquiao, it's Arum.

Kent (St Catharines)

Danta Claus. In a situation like Klitschko/Chisora when one of the fighters gets injuried and the fight doesn't happen, why does the other fighter just get passed over in many cases. Why wouldn't Wlad heal up and still make the fight with Chisora. To me it does seem very professional for the injuried fighter to heal up and move onto an fight like it happens so often.

Dan Rafael
  (12:21 PM)

If Haye or Adamek, two much bigger fights, are available and interested I don't blame him for moving on. This is a take no prisoners business.

Geoff (Burlington, ON)

I've heard that Lemieux may be fighting an eliminator next year vs Rubio...is he ready for that?

Dan Rafael
  (12:22 PM)

Yes, that is the plan. There is a purse bid scheduled unless they make a deal. Not only is Lemiuex ready for Rubio, I think Rubio is made to order for him and will get drilled.

Don (Pitt)

While the Donaire win was impressive, on tv it still looked like a bigger man beating up a smaller man.

Dan Rafael
  (12:22 PM)

Yeah so? They both weighed in as bantamweights and that is all that matters.

Dan (New Jersey)

Dan can you clarify what is happening with the Montiel and Mijares fights this weekend and when and where they can be seen?

Dan Rafael
  (12:24 PM)

Zanfer (Beltran's company) is utterly disorganized. End of the day, Montiel fights Friday night in a nontitle bout that will be on Televisa in Mexico and tape-delayed (supposedly) on Azteca America at some point. Mijares challenges Rosas for his 115 belt in the main event on Fox Deportes on Saturday night. That will air live in the US.

Marcos (New York)

PacMan, Lost twice to Marques. Then beat diaz and ok fighter.... A drained De La Hoya and out of his prime.... The Bum R. Hatton. Then a Shot Cotto and Margarito, and now a Shot at Mosley. Are these guys serious in calling him this great all time fighter?

Dan Rafael
  (12:24 PM)

You're a sad, pathetic soul. Go have an ice cream and call your mother to tell her you love her.

Scott (Bloomington, MN)

Dandally Bay, How's the atmosphere down there? Lot of Brits make the trip?

Dan Rafael
  (12:25 PM)

Not much of one yet, although there are some Brits here. I would imagine it will pick up for today's weigh in.

Troy (Syracuse)

Pretty bad when your fight of the year candidate is held in front of 3,200 people.

Dan Rafael
  (12:26 PM)

There weren't much more at Corrales-Castillo 1 or Gatti-Ward 1 either. It's fight of the year. Not crowd of the year.

Sly Stallone (Hollywood)

YO DAN! I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rob (NC)

Marcos from NY, you're an idiot

Louie (Kentucky)

Dan, who is holding up Donaire-Darchinyan II? I gotta believe it?s the biggest payday for either fighter.

Dan Rafael
  (12:27 PM)

Donaire is beyond that now. He's got a bigger fight vs Montiel for the title. Darchinyan in in the tourney. Both sides blame the other but I will say this: Darchinayn should be happy they didn't rematch because it would be the same result.

Kent (St Catharines)

Chatting with King Freak and his followers and watching Roman Martinez Vs Ricky Burns for the first time. Life is good. As they say in the UK. That fight is a real corker.

Dan Rafael
  (12:28 PM)

Tremendous fight.

George (Fontana, CA)

Dan, I have to say, I smell an upset. I take Marco Maidana over Khan via the K.O. Khan has developed great skills the last two years, NOT a great chin...

Dan Rafael
  (12:29 PM)

We shall see. The whole "Khan has a bad chin" thing is overrated to me. Dude got creamed in round 1 by a good puncher. It happens.

Matt (Vietnam)

I think it is pretty cool when FOY is in front of a small crowd. Just goes to show at any moment, any fight could be FOY. Do you know anywhere we can watch a replay of the fight? I was in Costa Rica during the fight and it was on TV for free and I stupidly skipped it.

Dan Rafael
  (12:30 PM)

Another fight of the year candidate that didn't even have have 2,000 people at it -- Jirov-Toney. Anyway, Top Rank is planning to eventually put the Soto-Antillon fight on its web site. When the time and date are set I will Tweet it, so follow me on Twitter -- @danrafaelespn

maniroc (Cicero, IL )

Is it me, or do I see Khan completely dominating Maidana and win 11 out of 12 rounds easily?

Dan Rafael
  (12:30 PM)

That's pretty much how I feel too. I see this is a one-sided win for Khan.

Tom (Wheeling, WV)

Do you think Juanma-Gamboa be held in the States?

Dan Rafael
  (12:31 PM)

If it happens, definitely.

Adrieeennnneee (Philly)

ROCKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Sean (Dunmore)

Crowd size doesn't mean anything I saw the potential knockout of the year Martinez-Williams II, there were only 5500 people, the collective moment of shock was well worth what I paid to be there.

Dan Rafael
  (12:31 PM)

Martinez-Williams 1 was a legit FOY candidate in 2009 and there were maybe 3,000 people there, if that.

Ed (Portlan OR)

Do you think "Ducker" Haye is trying to get into the HOF in the non-participant catagory??

Dan Rafael
  (12:32 PM)

OMG!!! Pay the man (double), Shirley!

bk don (Brooklyn)

I doubt Donaire earns more money for the Montiel fight then he would've for Vic, and Vic is most definitely earning less to fight mares, who bookmakers have him listed as the underdog to. Seems like both sides botched this one.

Dan Rafael
  (12:32 PM)

You're wrong.

Louis (New York)

Overpriced boxing tickets = weak attendance. It?s as simple as that.

Dan Rafael
  (12:33 PM)

The tickets are not overpriced on most of the shows. You can get a ticket to this excellent card in Vegas tomorrow night for $50 and if you have been to Mandalay Bay you know that is still going to be a solid seat. You can sit ringside for $350, which is not crazy at all.

JJD (Seattle)

Whatever Bing from Philly is, Ed from Portland is the exact opposite. That was priceless.

Alex (San Diego)

I watched Wark-Gatti I on Espn Classic this week. The announcers weren't the HBO guys. Do you know who they were? Not necessarily their names, but who they were broadcasting for?

Dan Rafael
  (12:35 PM)

I am not sure who called it but most likey ESPN either used the international call of the fight or had its own people call it in the studio after the fact.

Phil Z (New Jersey)

Dan...crazy thought...did Buster Douglas get any votes 1st time he was on ballot?

Dan Rafael
  (12:35 PM)

He has never been on the ballot as far as I know. Even if he was he would never be elected. He was a journeyman heavyweight with one massive win. But nothing else. NOTHING.

Berndawg (CHI)

No matter who he fights next, pretty sure Khan heads back to the UK for his next bout?

Dan Rafael
  (12:37 PM)

Depends on what comes up but Golden Boy's plan and Khan's is for his next bout to be in the UK. It makes sense. He needs to fight there somtimes too. Sort of like Lennox. He would fight in America 2-3 times and then go home to England.

jon (santa monica, ca)

what time is the weigh-in today?

Dan Rafael
  (12:38 PM)

Main event at 2:30 pm PT and it's free and open to the public at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Dan Rafael
  (12:38 PM)

Main event at 2:30 pm PT and it's free and open to the public at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

PeteNice (Philly)

Dan, for knockout of the year I'm torn between Angulo-Yorgey & Williams-Martinez. I guess the later since it was a bigger profile fight.

Dan Rafael
  (12:39 PM)

Wasn't Angulo-Yorgey last year? Even if it wasnt Martinez-Williams is the lock for me.

Jeff (TO)

Being relatively new to boxing, it doesnt often happen that i know like so many of the entrants into the Hall in any particular year, but with Tyson, Cesar Chavez, Tszyu, Nacho and Joe Cortez it limited the amount of people i had to research on.

Dan Rafael
  (12:39 PM)

Tremendous class this year. Honestly, I thought Nacho was already in.

Matt (Dallas)

King Dan, When does the next season of Friday night Fights start back up on ESPN? And who are some of the scheduled fighters/matchups we can look forward to?

Dan Rafael
  (12:40 PM)

Season starts Jan. 7. Check the espn.com boxing schedule at the top of the boxing home page. I update it regular and it lists the fights.

Mario (Bell Gardens, CA)

Danaconda, just want to give a shout out to Julio Cesar Chavez for his Hall of Fame election. The man is the greatest Mexican fighter of all time (yup, I just said it)....

Bill (Texas)

Dan. What are your thoughts on Zebras?

Dan Rafael
  (12:41 PM)

These are my readers.

Roy (Reno)

Vic Danchinian! I love the on location chats, you never know who might show up. Where is today's chat taking place, the media room or hotel room?

Dan Rafael
  (12:42 PM)

Hotel room so no guests unless the maid stops by.

Dan Rafael
  (12:42 PM)

It will start next fall. I am going to write something about it soon.

Chris (Bay Area)

People who think Boxing tickets are overpriced have obviously not been to a live show. If you get there early enough to see all the undercard fights, it is well worth the money with the amount of entertainment you get.

Justin (Indy)

Zebras are terrible boxers.

psycho (LaLaLand)

how come Khan camp dont pursue a Prescott rematch? pretty easy fight and a sellout in the UK

Dan Rafael
  (12:43 PM)

I think that could be a fight for him when Khan next fights in the UK.

Jacob (Brighton, UK)

Hey Dan, im currently studying to be a sports journalist like yourself. Do you have any tips on how to make it in the industry like you have? Does experience top education?

Dan Rafael
  (12:47 PM)

Two things: Experience defintely trumps a degree. I majored in history and took a couple of classes. I learned on the job as an intern at a local paper, as an intern in my college's SID office. And I did lots of things at my first paper before I moved into sports, which is where I wanted to be. But I wrote business stories, typed obits, basically did anything just to be in the door. Second thing -- if you go into the biz expect to work lonnnnnnnnng hours and make crappy money unless you land a rare top gig.

T (Boston)

Hey Dan the Man, please tell me that it was a typo that Jim Lampley did not get in to the Hall of fame. That's a travishamockery

Dan Rafael
  (12:48 PM)

Lampley did not make it and I find that to be criminal.

Marcos (New York)

Pound for Pound the biggest puncher in boxing history.... Julian "The Hawk" Jackson.... I love his KO'S

Dan Rafael
  (12:48 PM)

He's one of them. I have some great old tapes of some of his KOs. Awesome puncher.

Ralph (Brookyn,NY)

Hey Dan, how ya doing? Did you see Sadam Ali last night, and if so what did u think

Dan Rafael
  (12:49 PM)

I did not see the card last night as I am in Vegas, but I recorded it and will check it out when I get home.

Horn (Vegas)

BANG!!! to all those who did not vote for Lamps!!!

Robert (Dayton)

Who would you favor in the Wonjongkam-Sosa match for the flyweight title? Also, there's no chance this fight will take place outside of Asia, right?

Dan Rafael
  (12:51 PM)

I like the idea of that fight. I would favor Ponger. If it happens I would think it happens in Thailand but maybe after all these years Ponger will venture to Mexico. That would be great.

Steve (Dearborn MI)

Just got my tickets to Alexander-Bradley. Are you going to be making the trip to Pontiac?

Dan Rafael
  (12:51 PM)

I plan to be there for sure.

Earl (LA)

Are there any young American heavyweight prospects worth keeping an eye on?

Dan Rafael
  (12:53 PM)

I like the potential of Seth Mitchell. He's a Golden Boy fighter and is on Saturday's card against Taurus Sykes, who is a solid step up for him. Tremendous athlete and I have seen him consistently getting better whenever I see him. He has good fundamentals even if he lacks amateur background because he was playing college football. He's a hard worker and has a chance to make a good name for himself.

Newt (Jacksonville)

Is Freddie Roach as good a guy as he seems? Can't help not to pull for that guy.

Dan Rafael
  (12:54 PM)

I've known Freddie for about 10 years and always held him in high regard. He's a good dude. I remember he found out that he had been fired as De La Hoya's trainer from me and even in that moment was a good guy.

Warren (Anaheim,Ca)

What do u think about Marquez fighting the winner of Khan/Maidana or Bradley/Alexander?

Dan Rafael
  (12:55 PM)

I dont think there is a chance of him facing the Bradley-Alexander winner but I could see that other fight happening since they are all with Golden Boy and there had been serious discussion about Marquez facing Khan before the fight with Maidana was made and Marquez's with Katsidis.

Amain (Las Vegas)

Went to the grand arrivals. All the boxers were really nice and signing autgraphs and taking pictures. Hard to root against any of them tomorrow. Roach was also as great a guy as he seems.

Dan Rafael
  (12:57 PM)

Most fighters are great with the fans. Compared to any other sport, getting a photo or an autograph is pretty easy. The guys are mostly cool and enjoy the interaction with the fans.

Joel (Queens,NY)

I read your article from 2007 its funny how we all looked at Arreola and Kevin Johnson as heavyweight prospects and they both turned out to be all hype when it came time to fight for a title

Dan Rafael
  (12:57 PM)

That prospect article though had a lot of guys who have moved into titles or top contenders.

Angus (Scotland)

Mr. Rafael, I gave this chat a chance but you simply take too many questions on Latin and Filipino fighters and nothing on Euros. Sorry, but I'm looking for a bit more balanced coverage.

Dan Rafael
  (12:58 PM)

So ask about your guys. I answer what I get.

Matt (Dallas)

I would LOVE a Khan vs Marquez fight...how do you see that one going King Dan?

Dan Rafael
  (12:58 PM)

Not a good fight for Marquez.

Alex (San Diego)

One more ESPN Classic question. How would ESPN get the video rights to a HBO fight (like Gatti-Ward) but not the audio rights? Is the video owned by the promoter and HBO retains the rights to their broadcasters?

Dan Rafael
  (12:59 PM)

Correct. Actually, I think the announcers retain their own rights.

Chris (Vancouver BC)

Dan, what are your thoughts on Global Warming?

Dan Rafael
  (12:59 PM)

What weight class is he in?

dugan (brooklyn)

carlos dantana, what did you think of espn's 1st and 10 coverage of tyson getting into the hall? i feel there was a lot of misinformation thrown around by those guys. they must have been drinking gallons of haterade before the telecast. tyson beat all the guys with belts and then michael spinks who beat larry holmes (scratches head). that seems amazing to me. am i on drugs? you should've been on satellite for that one.

Dan Rafael
  (1:00 PM)

I didn't see one second of it and from all the feedback I have gotten I am glad I missed it or I would have vomited on my beautiful big screen TV.

Earl (LA)

Dan, why are your Scottish readers so cranky all the time?

Dan Rafael
  (1:01 PM)

Becuase most of their fighters suck and it's cold and rainy there.

erik (minnesota)

dan,did anyone mention that anthony mundine got destroyed by a journy man earlier this week?

Dan Rafael
  (1:02 PM)

You just did.

john (motown)

"chisora is a loser and a women beater" is it me or is Wlad becoming a little more of a smack talker. (thats a good thing)

Dan Rafael
  (1:03 PM)

I like that Wlad has gotten at least a little trashy with his opponents, but still a respectful guy. He doesn't say anything unless his opponent does first. When I inerviewed him a week or so ago for the story I wrote before the fight had been called off, he used a few curse words and apologized for it!

Pete (NYC)

I'll ask a question about a Scottish fighter. Callum Johnson-- heard this kid was a star amateur and has Naseem Hamed managing him and hyping him up. Have you seen him?

Dan Rafael
  (1:04 PM)

Haven't seen him but wrote about him a little because Naz was his manager.

Leprachaun (Scotland)

You've taken it too far!!!!! NO LUCKY CHARMS FOR YOU!!!

Internet Whiny Guy (Everywhere)

Dan, you never talk about my favorite fighter!

brody (nyc)

"Their rules do not allow them to release the results without consent from both parties, which they have not yet secured." That's true even if a fighter fails the test?

Dan Rafael
  (1:05 PM)

Apparently.

Charles D. (Inkster, MI)

Freaks No Rad the king freak is in the building tonight!

Dan Rafael
  (1:05 PM)

Exactly.

Steve (Hartford)

What will Mosley do if he doesnt get PAC?

Dan Rafael
  (1:06 PM)

Cry and cry and cry and blame me and other media for him not getting the fight. Then cry some more. And then blame Golden Boy. Then blame the media. All the while forget to look at his recent record.

WBA (Caracas)

David Haye has 30 days to negotiate with Jimmy Thunder or it goes to purse bid.

Mike (Cleveland)

What's next for Chris John?

Dan Rafael
  (1:10 PM)

Well he just fought and won. Supposedly he is supposed to Gamboa but we will see if they actually make that fight.

Marky Mark (Looking for Funky Bunch)

Nobody was in my chat. So I came here to see what all the fuss is about ...

Horn (Vegas)

Euros are always begging for attention like Sugar Shane begs for fights.

Cristian (Jersey City)

I recently read an article discussing the possibility of a Khan Mayweather fight if Khan is impressive tomorrow night against Maidana. Do you think this is a possibility?

Dan Rafael
  (1:11 PM)

Outside shot but doubtful to me. Both guys have other business to attend to first.

John (San Fran)

any rumors that a fighter failed the Texas test?

Dan Rafael
  (1:12 PM)

None whatsoever. I can't stress that enough.

Matt (San Diego)

Dan, I got an email from Mandalay Bay on Monday offering free rooms and tickets to the fight Sat, I'm guessing ticket sales are struggling. What have you heard? It doesn't look like the Fans travel for Khan like they did Hatton.

Dan Rafael
  (1:13 PM)

All of Vegas is struggling very badly. Khan does not have that fan base at all yet, so while there will be Brits here it will probably be only a couple of thousand if that at this point in his career.

JD (NJ)

looking forward to that Huck - Lebedev fight next week.

Dan Rafael
  (1:13 PM)

That will be a good one I would think.

Amain (Las Vegas)

Khan gets $975,000 to fight Maidana, and Berto gets $1.25 million to fight a stiff. What is wrong with the world?

Dan Rafael
  (1:14 PM)

Khan will make way more than that. He has money in the UK and some probably goes to his promotional company as a tax shelter.

Hammurabi (Mesopotamia)

Dan, seems like you never talk about my favorite Babylonian fighters. What gives?

Dan Rafael
  (1:16 PM)

Sorry bruh.

Castor (Conroe, TX)

Hi Dan, what do you make of Garth Woods' upset of Anthony Mundine this week? I know Mundine is no star, but he's no slouch either. Is Woods someone to keep an eye out for?

Dan Rafael
  (1:16 PM)

Mundine has always been overrated.

Buddaheath@twitter (Westwick)

Dan you said the silverdome will be scaled down to 1,500 how many do you expect to show up at the fight? Great job on twitter!

Dan Rafael
  (1:16 PM)

15,000, not 1,500.

Amain (Las Vegas)

Do you ever hit the tables or strip clubs in Vegas?

Dan Rafael
  (1:17 PM)

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas my man. But I do not gamble.

T (Boston)

A lot of this chat has been about Amir Khan, so correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Khan considered a "Euro?" I know he wasn't born in England, but I work at a Hotel here in Boston and i met him and his British accent was pretty thick.

Dan Rafael
  (1:17 PM)

Bingo!

Cristian (Jersey City)

Whats next for Yuri Foreman?

Dan Rafael
  (1:18 PM)

He's rehabbing his knee and Arum would like to have him fight in Feb/March. There has been some talk about a possible NYC fight with John Duddy, which would draw a nice crowd.

Jonny (Tallahassee)

Mr Raphael, some sites are reporting that Haye says a fight with Wlad looks likely for March, True?

Dan Rafael
  (1:19 PM)

It is possible, but I would not say "likely." Schaefer is meeting with Haye and Booth here in Vegas and has talked to Shelly Finkel. We'll see. Still the same issues as before.

Jonathan (Atlanta)

Dan, as a regular freak and Scotsman living in the USA I am not enjoying this bashing. Can we not all just get along and make fun of the Ducker? And for the record Leprechauns are IRISH!!!!!!

Dan Rafael
  (1:20 PM)

LOL!

Cristian (Jersey City)

Chad Dawson vs Sergio Martinez?

Dan Rafael
  (1:20 PM)

Did you hit your head or were you born this way?

Captain Kirk (Outer Space)

KHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jack (London)

Why are you such a brown-noser for the klitschkos. They are good heavyweights in a weak era - no more. They are boring safety-first fighters (esp Vlad) who have both ducked the top fighter in their division for years (each other). I have never been more bored by the h/w division.

Dan Rafael
  (1:21 PM)

Angry much?

Scott (Bloomington, MN)

Hey Dan, Has Gary Shaw found his missing poodle?

Dan Rafael
  (1:22 PM)

Here Perro, Perro, Perro...

Jacob (Brighton, UK)

Cheers for the response Dan. You guys are right about Euros/us Brits. Most of us (not all) get duped by the media thinking our guys like David Haye are the best and are total angels. But i respect the American media, at least you guys keep it real.

Chris (Newcastle)

Who's the harder puncher Edwin Valero or Maidana?

Dan Rafael
  (1:23 PM)

Considering Valero is dead, I would say Maidana.

Matt (Fairfield)

DTM, this is not a joke post, but do you think Oliver McCall will ever get another important fight? I know he was a mandatory a few years ago but passed on it to make a big payday losing to Gomez...so?

Dan Rafael
  (1:24 PM)

No.

Michael (Long Beach, CA)

Does it bother you that Jack (London) has access to the same oxygen that you do?

Dan Rafael
  (1:24 PM)

Yes, actually.

Matt (Dallas)

"The Klitskchos suck because the dominate every single opponent and they aren't English so I hate them!"

Dan Rafael
  (1:25 PM)

Go figure right? Some people are so stupid it scares me.

Brian (Penn State)

Which place do you like more MGM or Mandalay Bay?

Dan Rafael
  (1:25 PM)

Love em both.

Scott (Bloomington, MN)

Hey Dan, How high in weight do you think Donaire can be effective? He seems to have the body type to keep jumping weight classes ala the Pacman.

Dan Rafael
  (1:25 PM)

He has told me he wants to eventually win the featherweight title and I think he could move up that high and be effective.

Zim (Boston)

Jonathan's right about Leprechauns. If you're going to bash Scotland, use the Loch Ness Monster instead.

Jose Sulaiman (Mexico)

In honor of last week's Hall of Fame Induction, we are pleased to announce the creation of the new WBC Hall of Fame Belt, which we will give to the very best fighters in the sport...or those who pay us the very largest sanctioning fee.

Jorge Luis (Houston)

Is anyone gonna take a fight with Erislandy Lara?

Dan Rafael
  (1:27 PM)

Yes. Lara likely will face JC Candelo on Jan 14 on Telefutura.

Juan Manuel Marquez (Mexico)

Happy holidays Dan. I am sending you a fresh glass of my homemade eggnog.

Dan Rafael
  (1:28 PM)

Thanks, but you don't have to do that.

Steve (Hartford)

Has Arum ever mentioned putting Donaire on any of Pac's cards, dont you think that would help him gain massive amounts of filipino fans making him another potential big ticket seller?

Dan Rafael
  (1:29 PM)

No. Arum doesn't need to double them up when he already gets the Phillipine audience for each. Plus, Pacquiao does not want Nonito on his cards. He wants the Filippinos with MP Promotions on his cards.

Sal (Bakersfield)

Loch Ness Monster > Leprechaun by 1st round KO

Jake (CA)

Hey, Dan, you mentioned above that if Lamont wins, then Golden boy has options on him on his future fights. I thought this is illegal as per the Muhammad Ali act.

Earl (LA)

I saw you suggest Bundrage-Ron Hearns for the Bradley-Alexander undercard. Didn't Manny Steward say "No, no, a thousand times no" about that fight happening?

Dan Rafael
  (1:31 PM)

It was merely a suggestion of putting on a local fight that would draw some fans.

Daniel (Wilmington,Ca)

I read an article about Schaefer wanting to put the Haye/Klitschko fight in Vegas. What is your opinion on this? Is he just running his mouth?

Dan Rafael
  (1:32 PM)

I spoke to Richard about this at length yesterday. He would like to do that. But they have to talk abut the particulars. The fight would still do big PPV in the UK (like Hatton did for fights in the middle of the night) and the HBO number would be much bigger if it was live in America. It is merely one possibility. And who knows if the fight will even happen?

Nick (Queens)

LARRY OR MAX ON SATURDAY?! ANSWER MEEEEEE

Dan Rafael
  (1:33 PM)

Larry, along with Lampley and Roy Jones (filling in for Emanuel, who was supposed to be in Germany in Wlad's corner).

maniroc (Cicero, IL )

Is HBO really buying into Canelo or does Golden Boy plan to take the Chavez Jr route and do small PPV shows that bring in good money?

Dan Rafael
  (1:33 PM)

It is under discussion.

Guanoman (Puerto rico)

if the morales vs barrios on espn deportes a done deal it is do you know it will be live or taped delay

Dan Rafael
  (1:34 PM)

I am told it is done and will be live. I ran into my friend and colleague Jaime Mota from ESPN Deportes yesterday here in the hotel and he told me he had been assigned to the telecast.

Matt (Dallas)

Who do you prefer: Larry or Max?

Dan Rafael
  (1:36 PM)

They are both my friends. I enjoy them both. Frankly, I wish HBO would do a telecast and have both of them on together with Lampley. I think that would be very interesting and entertaining.

Sneaky Pete (Brooklyn)

Dan, is the English media buying Chisora's claims that Wlad is ducking him? Now there are two English heavyweights that have totally lost connection with reality.

Dan Rafael
  (1:37 PM)

I have been here in Vegas for two days and talked to some of British reporter friends here for Khan and even they didn't give Chisora a shot.

Joe (NJ)

Any Manny Steward Statements or his take on what happened to cause the injury.

Dan Rafael
  (1:38 PM)

Have not talked to Manny since a couple of days before the fight was called off.

sergio (san diego)

how's don king doing with the passing of his wife?

Dan Rafael
  (1:38 PM)

The funeral was the other day and I am told he is (obviously) taking it hard. They were married more than 50 years.

Marc (Malden, MA)

I'm sure Ducker Haye is only willing to fight Wlad now that he has a torn abdominal muscle. As soon as Wlad is 100%, Haye will back out.

Paul (Boston)

Dan when is the final of the Bantamweight Tournament planned?

Dan Rafael
  (1:40 PM)

No date set but probably early second quarter.

Joel Julio (California)

Hey dad.

Dan Rafael
  (1:40 PM)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the Love Child.

Kev (manchester England)

Dan I know you have little or no time for the alleged 'ducker' david haye. But you know as well a me that the klitchko have been fighting bum after bum for a longtime now! yet you dont pick up on this. what do you think the outcome of haye v Wlad would be?

Dan Rafael
  (1:41 PM)

Take your meds.

Alexthesr (twitter)

It seems from watching the press conference there is true dislike between Devon and Tim bradly is that the case or is this all show?

Dan Rafael
  (1:42 PM)

I didn't take that away from the presser at all. I don't think they dislike each other at all. They want to whup each other's butt but I don't think there is any real beef. They respect each other I believe.

Steve (NYC)

Thoughts on Adamek last night?

Dan Rafael
  (1:42 PM)

Didn't see it yet. But I am not surprised by the outcome at all. It is what was expected to happen.

Nick (Queens)

Danta Claus- For Christmas this year, I would like Pacquiao-Mayweather, cheaper tickets to live fights, and a Lou DiBella reality show. Make it happen?Freaks add on!

Rob (NC )

Kev from manchester England (go Barcelona) you're an idiot

Paul B (NY, NY)

Kev (Manchester) should stop cutting his pills in half. Full dose needed.

JT ((Wilmington))

Dan, you posted that you spoke with Tyson. Did you notice a change in him since that last time you spoke in person? He seems to be a different person now a days...for the better

Dan Rafael
  (1:46 PM)

He sounded good and relaxed and generally happy. I've been so busy out here but I will write a column about our HOF conversation soon.

CB (Fairfax, VA)

Why do people keep accusing Wlad of fighting bums? Hasn't he been cleaning out the division, including most of the top-10 in his weight class? And if he's fighting "bums", who exactly has Haye been fighting?

Dan Rafael
  (1:47 PM)

People are idiots. Wlad has fought everyone who would fight him not ducked or remotely ducked anyone. Nine title defenses, eight by knockout and systematically cleaning out the division. Not his fault the Ducker won't fight him. Or Povetkin.

maniroc (Cicero)

Lou DiBella and Gary Shaw reality show!!! With special guest Dan Goosen

Dan Rafael
  (1:47 PM)

It's called Fight Camp.

maniroc (Cicero, IL )

Whats up with Allen Green reversal of the KO?

Dan Rafael
  (1:49 PM)

Nothing. It will not be changed I am sure. Nor should it. He got drilled. End of story.

Greg (Santa Monica)

Saw on your twitter Schaefer wants to bring Alvarez to LA? Would this be on one of their Fight Night Club cards? That would be pretty sweet

Dan Rafael
  (1:50 PM)

Agreed. Good venue for him at this stage of his career. And glad you're following me on twitter.

Brett (Stratford, ON)

If Khan beats Maidana on Saturday night, do you think he will be ready to fight the winner of Bradley-Alexander next year?

Dan Rafael
  (1:51 PM)

Of course.

Chris (Overland Park, KS)

From the sounds of twitter Oscar and Arum are gonna kiss soon.

Dan Rafael
  (1:51 PM)

Arum is not on Twitter and the person tweeting as Arum is a fake.

Lee (Los Angeles, CA)

Who's career was more hurt by Trinidad? Fernando Vargas or David Reid? How promising of a fighter was Reid?

Dan Rafael
  (1:53 PM)

Tito ruined both of them, but Varas had more potential than Reid. Reid was always going to have a short career because of his eyelid.

Marcos (New York)

Hey Dan how would you like Cotto vs Angulo?

Dan Rafael
  (1:53 PM)

Would LOVE it.

Tom (Reading)

Is Oscar one of those people that should be not allowed near Twitter some of the stuff he tweets is truly cringeworthy.

Dan Rafael
  (1:54 PM)

It's a little weird sometimes.

Chris (Overland Park, KS)

Oh......good to know. Oscar was still being forgiving though.

Dan Rafael
  (1:54 PM)

This is true and we talked about it yesterday. And I told him simply actions speak louder than words.

Sal (Bakersfield)

Cotto vs Angulo is a FOTY type fight! I've been saying that for months...Might be similar to Cotto vs Marg tho (without the plaster)

Dan Rafael
  (1:59 PM)

Couldn't agree more.

Paul B (NY, NY)

If you had to choose one, who of Povetkin, Ducker, and Adamek would in your mind pose the most challenges for Wlad?

Dan Rafael
  (1:59 PM)

Honestly, I think he wipes out all three.

Chris (Vancouver BC)

Nice to see Oscar seems to have incorporated the spell check function on his twitter at least. At the start, I thought it was child typing.

Dan Rafael
  (2:00 PM)

Chowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Mark (Minneapolis)

Why is there no discussions of a Cotto-Berto match, seems perfect for both guys, especially Berto?

Dan Rafael
  (2:02 PM)

There was a little but I think Berto's financial expectations made talks worthless to pursue.

gary (ft. wayne)

my philosophy professor asked the class what great mind we would most want to have lunch with...and I answered Dan Rafael. she go mad and said I wasn't allwed to make up fictional people. I dropped the class.

Dan Rafael
  (2:02 PM)

Legendary.

Master Splinter (Sewer)

Rafael, why is Alexander-Bradley in the Pontiac Silverdome? Will this be the only fight in history where everything will be tarped off except for ringside seats?

Dan Rafael
  (2:03 PM)

Simple: Silverdome paying $500,000ish for the fight. If a toxic waste dump put up the bones, we'd be going there for the fight.

Seaman (San Diego)

Can you comment on Manny PacMan's losses early in his career? I have not seen the footage, but I heard that he was KO'd b/c he was overly aggressive.

Dan Rafael
  (2:05 PM)

I have a tape of the fight when he got knocked out and lost the 112 title. He was aggressive but he was also so weight drained from making 112 I am sure that was a big factor. He was also very young. I think he was like 19 or 20 then. He has learned a lot since then.

Dan Rafael
  (2:06 PM)

I'll just throw this out there -- Jeff Lacy is fighting this weekend, if anyone cares.

Darryl (Montreal)

Kyrie Irving might be out for the season! Not good

Dan Rafael
  (2:07 PM)

I know. I am distraught. That kid is goooooooooooood.

Scott (Bloomington, MN)

What about K-9 v Lara for K-9's title on the Bradley-Alexander undercard?

Dan Rafael
  (2:08 PM)

Won't happen. K9 has a mandatory and HBO is only showing one fight (which is horrible).

Dave, NJ [via mobile]

Does it upset you when guys liKe Ishe Smith, Kendall Holt, Shannon Briggs, and Shane Mosley slander you on Twitter??

Dan Rafael
  (2:08 PM)

Couldn't care less.

Rob (New York)

Please answer me =( do you plan on following up on the drug testing in Texas, to see if both camps with consent or which camps did not consent?

Dan Rafael
  (2:09 PM)

Yes, I will stay on it for sure.

Dave (Rochester, NY)

Dan, great story on Peterson's camp blindly accepting the Ortiz fight! I am a big Ortiz fan and thanks to the fearlessness of Peterson and his people, we get the best fight of the 3 that was being considered for Ortiz. Thanks again for the story...people needed to know that there are fighters like that in times like these.

Dan Rafael
  (2:10 PM)

That's why I wrote it. Mad respect to Lamont and Barry Hunter for taking the fight like that.

Brian (NC)

Speaking of the HOF. Besides the Klitschkos and Holyfield (if he ever retires) I don't see another Heavyweight out there who will eventually get that call. Sad.

Dan Rafael
  (2:11 PM)

I think The Ducker will get into the English HOF though.

Dave (Rochester, NY)

Dan, your quote here: "Most fighters are great with the fans. Compared to any other sport, getting a photo or an autograph is pretty easy. The guys are mostly cool and enjoy the interaction with the fans".....is the reason why induction weekend in Canastota is so outstanding!

Dan Rafael
  (2:12 PM)

You're right. Induction weekend is awesome.

Ron Katz (Bronx)

Boring day, I need a little roll call starting with Terdsak please.

Dan Rafael
  (2:13 PM)

What about Napapol and Veerapol?

The Good Doctor Filth (Cleveland)

Sorry if this was already asked...combing through the questions right now. I thought Bradley-Alexander tickets were going on sale today...any update?

Dan Rafael
  (2:14 PM)

As I understand it there are.

Zim (Boston)

Per Dave (NJ)'s post, Twitter demonstrates quite clearly that many of these guys are so out of touch with reality it's ridiculous. Word of advice guys, stop worrying about what Dan's writing and start worrying about why your careers are in the tank.

Darryl (Montreal)

Do you have an official pick for B Hop and Pascal yet? I like B Hop's chances, I've bet against him way too many times

gary (ft. wayne)

the good http://www.silverdometickets.com/events.html?events_view=details

Dan Rafael
  (2:16 PM)

Link for Bradley-Alexander tix.

Alex (Lancs UK)

Dan I often disagree with you about the Ducker, but your articles rock and make my week that bit better. Kudos.

Dan Rafael
  (2:16 PM)

Thanks.

Mike (Marshall, TX)

What's next for Vitali?

Dan Rafael
  (2:17 PM)

Mandatory vs the winner of next week's Solis-Austin fight.

Chris (Vancouver BC)

D Nice. Is Tavoris Cloud still fighting this month?

Dan Rafael
  (2:18 PM)

Yes, next Friday.

Dan Rafael
  (2:19 PM)

I hope you'll check out my piece on Khan today: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=rafael_dan&id=5905346

Horn (Vegas)

I thought Nate Campbell had one of the best retirement speeches I have seen in all of sports. He was honest about his decreasing abilities and had an outstanding outlook on the spectrum of his career before, presently, and beyond. Much respect to the Galaxy Warrior.

Mike (Emmett, ID)

Come on Bob, give us Pac vs Marquez...

Joe (Albany)

of course a fight between Haye and Wlad looks likely til Haye runs away with his tail between his legs

Koichi (NYC)

I was reading the Superman vs Muhammad Ali comic the other day, that was really cool that they did that. Wish they'd do something similar now like Spiderman vs Manny Pacquiao (even thought Spiderman is Marvel and Supes is DC...sorry I'm a nerd Freak)

Dan Rafael
  (2:22 PM)

Love it. I have a vintage copy of that comic. It's awesome.

Alex (Lancs UK)

Any of tomorrow's fights in Liverpool interest you Dan? Kell Brook or Macklin? James DeGale?

Dan Rafael
  (2:23 PM)

I am interested in that card. Some top young guys on there. Bummer Gavin had to pull out with an illness.

Dan Rafael
  (2:25 PM)

That one I seriously doubt.

Leprachaun (Scotland)

Dan, is it true you have a poster of Wladimir Klitschko flexing in your hotel room?

Dan Rafael
  (2:26 PM)

This is not true.

Gerardo (AZ)

Gotta love Marky Mark's optimism, eh: "if I hit [Pacquiao] with a left hand, he's going to go to sleep for a little while."

Dan Rafael
  (2:28 PM)

Actors can be as delusional as some fighters are.

Dwight (paris texas)

Will HBO do a countdown for Bradley vs Alexander

Dan Rafael
  (2:29 PM)

Unfortunately, no. But there will be a feature piece in the telecast. I know this because I was interviewed yesterday for it by the producer. We taped it in a sweet suite in Mandalay Bay.

Greg M (Taholah, WA)

Hi D-Rafizzle! Going to my first live fight tomorrow, the Bantamweight tourny. I'm super excited but not sure what to expect. What's the best way to meet people at the fight?

Dan Rafael
  (2:30 PM)

Cool. Have a great time. Say hello?

Aaron (Hartford)

Hi Dan...I am going to a resturant tomorrow night. what the best way to eat my food ?????

Dan Rafael
  (2:34 PM)

Fork or spoon works well. If you get desperate you can use your hands. But not for soup if it's really hot. Good luck.

sergio (san diego)

Are to enjoy the fights you cover like a fan does or yare you not able to because you thinking of the story you'll write and are taking notes, etc.

Dan Rafael
  (2:35 PM)

I enjoy it but can't like a regular fan because of the things you mentioned. It's the trade off you make for having this job. It's worth it though.

Dan Rafael
  (2:35 PM)

I enjoy it but can't like a regular fan because of the things you mentioned. It's the trade off you make for having this job. It's worth it though.

Paul (Winnipeg, Canada)

what did you think of the Hasegawa vs Burgos fight? what a awesome fight, I hope Hasegawa come to america one day, who would you like to see him against if he does?

Dan Rafael
  (2:36 PM)

Terrific fight. Watched it on youtube and then got the dvd the other day and watched it again. Not the FOY but on the list for sure. I'd love to see Hasegawa fight a Gamboa or Lopez.

Fred (St Louis)

Dan, did you get offered a pre-screen of The Fighter?

Dan Rafael
  (2:38 PM)

Yes, but I have been unable to make it. Several guys went to a screening in Dallas at the Pacman fight but I had some stuff I needed to do. Then I was invited to one in DC and was out of town, so I have not seen it yet.

Joel (Queens,NY)

Have you been to jimmy's corner in Manhattan? I never been there but I hear its a good place for boxing fans to watch fights there I am debating whether going there or staying home. If you been there let me know how is it please and thank you

Dan Rafael
  (2:39 PM)

Been there many times. Really small and tight but lots of boxing folks hang there and watch fights and always boxing talk going on.

David (Winston-Salem)

Dandalay Industries! Forgot to ask if you got the upgrade?

Dan Rafael
  (2:40 PM)

Yes, both ways, thank you.

Dylan (Austin, TX)

While Shane Mosely deserves some criticism you cant blame the dude for trying to stay active and make some money. He could go Winky on us and fade into oblivion.

Dan Rafael
  (2:40 PM)

I have no issue with Shane wanting to be active and fight. I take issue with him making it personal because I and others echo the opinion of the boxing public that we are not interested in seeing him fight Pacquiao.

Dan fan (NY)

Any update on Colonel Bob Sheridan?

Dan Rafael
  (2:42 PM)

Still in the hospital from what I understand but expected to recover, which I was happy to hear.

Amain (Las Vegas)

Alex Ariza is saying Mosley has no chance against Pac. Do you agree or do you think Mosley could have a big night?

Dan Rafael
  (2:44 PM)

I think Pacman wins easily.

Rick (Walla Walla)

Dan, Do you think Prince Naseem will get the HOF nod at some point?

Dan Rafael
  (2:45 PM)

I certainly hope so. He earned it and deserves it. Too many close minded voters though who do not look at what he did and only think about his one defeat.

Steve (NYC)

Be sure to grab some dinner at the Border Grill!

Dan Rafael
  (2:46 PM)

Matter of fact, I had dinner there last night.

Dave (Rochester, NY)

Dan, I am excited about a potential Jhonny Gonzalez vs. Hasegawa fight, for I have followed Gonzalez for years. Do you think the winner will be dependent on where they fight, or do you have a clear favorite?

Dan Rafael
  (2:47 PM)

I like that fight but I would make Hasegawa the favorite regardless of where the fight takes place. I recall Nishioka coming to Mexico and knocking Jhonny dead at 122.

andy (NY)

Will Tyson Fury be shown on the Showtime broadcast on the Pascal-Hopkins undercard?

Andrew (Lousville)

Please tell the ESPN bosses that altering your old Friday notebook format is like HBO replacing the WCB music. You don't mess with perfection.

Dan Rafael
  (2:48 PM)

Not my call.

David Haye (Unknown)

Buster Douglas has been ducking me for a long time. Why don't you write about that?

Justin (Rhode Island)

Does the Telefutura card tonight have any prospects worth taking a look at?

Dan Rafael
  (2:49 PM)

Mike Perez is in the main event. Decent prospect. He looked good a few weeks ago when I saw him fight in Newark on the Judah card.

George (Fontana, CA)

Abner Mares = The new Generations Juan Manuel Marquez

Dan Rafael
  (2:50 PM)

He's not that good.

JJD (Seattle)

Do you think Khan has the power to hurt Maidana? I kind of think if Khan gets to Marcos early it could be the worst thing for Amir, as Maidana would like it better if Khan got cocky and went for the KO.

Dan Rafael
  (2:51 PM)

I definitely think Khan can hurt him. Remember, Maidana got hit a ton against Ortiz and was down I think three times (at least twice).

Curtis (Lexington)

Dan, don?t be surprised to see a Mares-Perez rematch for the tournament finals. I still think Mares eked out a decision in the first fight.

Dan Rafael
  (2:51 PM)

Won't be at all surprised. In fact that was my pick.

Derek Jeter (NY)

Dan I have a few reality potions left over from my negotiations. Do you know the addresses for Top Rank and Golden Boy?

Dan Rafael
  (2:52 PM)

Pay the man, Shirley.

Steven (Virginia)

Where does Douglas knocking out Tyson rank on a list of all time upsets?

Dan Rafael
  (2:52 PM)

Probably second all-time behind US over Russia in 1980 Olympics.

Dan Rafael
  (2:52 PM)

Probably second all-time behind US over Russia in 1980 Olympics.

Markos (Chicago)

Nonito VS Montiel...your thoughts?

Dan Rafael
  (2:54 PM)

I like the fight a lot but think Donaire wins.

Dan Rafael
  (2:56 PM)

OK, Freaks, thanks for chatting! Huge weekend so enjoy all the fights. I'm headed down to the media room shortly and then the weigh in. Enjoy. Talk to you next week from back in Virginia.
