It's all about titles, so let's get started in this most important of weeks...
IDP Championship game! Do you like Terrell Thomas over Fletcher?
That's right, starting off with IDP, the most underrated format of them all. Go with Thomas, he's been consistent and while he's a good enough corner, he incites lots of targets as well.
There are rumors F. Jones is banged up and that Marion Barber may play. Assuming Dallas employs a loaded backfield on Saturday and all 3 play how much do you think this will effect T. Choice, who I'm using as a flex in my Championship match? So far mostly nothing but good things are being said about Choice and the matchup, but my concerns are that Barber will look fresh and perhaps vulture some carries and a touchdown.
Barber does seem likely to return given full participation in practice, making the backfield muddled again. Of any Dallas back I'm going with Choice, but his prospects take a hit with the increased comp for work.
Afternoon Jim. Is it worth benching Rodgers to start Garrard this week. Im hesitant with ARod coming back from the concussion and Garrard facing an awful pass D, I feel like he may go off.
As inviting as that Skins' pass defense is, I'm sticking with the superior talent here against a potentially reeling Giants' secondary.
Grossman, and somehow it's not close.
Hoping to be the first question answered so pick 1 of each garcon or manningham? Boss or daniels? Sjax or bradshaw? Thanks jim
Settle for the 7th or so? I'd go with Garcon (I know Manningham went off, but the presence of Tramon Williams and the absence of Collie have me favoring Garcon.
Best 3 for IDP this week: Peppers, Pollard, Wake, Suggs, and McCourty...?
I'd sit Suggs and McCourty. Close calls, but just a really sound group to choose from here.
PPR league, play one. A Armstrong, Sims-Walker, B White.
Sims-Walker has the highest upside here, and that's what I'm looking for in the big game.
Just read that Addai will play. Does he take over the job and be as productive as he was before, or did Donald Brown earn a few more carries after last wee?
I think we'll see more of a share, but given Addai's valued presence in pass protection I'd think that he gets a slight majority of the work. In essence, it's a murky backfield, but with a good matchup I could see Addai creeping in as a flex.
Good afternoon Jim was hoping you could help me,Matt Forte or Jonathan Stewart this week thanks
The Jets enjoyed rare success going to the outside on the ground this past week, but I wouldn't expect Carolina to capably repeat this. As frustrating as Forte is and has been, I'd lean on him given his work in the passing game against a similarly tough defense.
You stay classy Jim! Thanks for all your advise throughout the season..never had a question answered though!! I'm struggling with my RB2..Moreno is out and my only other choices are Choice(ha!) and the Daily Show against a solid Pitt defense. Thoughts?
Moreno went through morning practice and was present on the field according to some Bronco beat writers. If you have no other depth to insure waiting on Moreno then I suppose you must go with Stewart and see if there's any better word on Moreno before Choice plays on Christmas night.
Your thoughts, who do you think will score the most FF points this week, Ben or Flacco? Boss or Owen? help me out here. Please and Thank you....
Flacco is a nice play this week against an exploitable Browns secondary, while Ben could be busier handing off. At TE? I like Boss with more TD-potential.
Embarrassment of D/ST riches... Chargers this week or Jets? Both seem like excellent matchups but Cutler has been unusually conservative as of late. And the Jets O hasn't exactly been helping the D stay off the field.
As sloppy as that Chicago offense can be, I agree that they've put a premium on Cutler cutting down on the Favre throws. The Bolts will put in work in a must-win against a limited Cinci offense.
How risky am I this week? Is Kevin Boss a more solid play?
Troy Smith returning helps Davis' stock, looking at last week as a measure of a poorly run Alex Smith offense.
Special Circumstances: If I start Joe Webb at WR, I get 1 point per completion, 1 point per 50 yards, 1 point per 10 rushings yards, and 6 per touchdown. Special Enough to start him over V-Jax, Maclin, Britt, or Austin? PLEASE ANSWER ROSTERS LOCK SOON
I'd stay away from Webb outside of really poor alternative options. While you can reap some nice points with Webb, there's no current certainty that he's the starter and his potential for turnovers is clearly higher than these wideouts.
The question of the century: sjax or bradshaw in a ppr league
This is Bill Walton style - "This free throw could shift humanity as we know it." I'm going with Jackson here, mostly because of his stronger share of the respective work.
Why doesn't Eli Manning get the heat Jay Cutler gets? Who has 20+ INTs again? One lucky SB win and you are off the hook forever?
Maybe it's because you are out west, but Manning gets plenty of heat in the NY market and even elsewhere. The ring helps, but the propensity for turnovers is pretty close here. I also think that Eli comes off as fairly humble, while Cutler can't claim the same thing.
Hines Ward or Anquan Boldin for Flex? Both seem underwhelming.
Can't see playing Boldin, he's been minimized and Flacco spread the ball to tight ends and backs.
Lloyd, Choice, or R. Brown flex non PPR???
Lloyd retained his shine after Tebow proved to look for him, and the matchup is obviously sweet.
Does TO being out make Shipley a viable option? Is Wallace benchable for him? I have a bad feeling about MW this week.
Not sure where your bad feelings come from and why Shipley becomes a better play against a stout San Diego pass defense, and certainly not over Wallace.
What do you think of playing defenses against some of your starting players. Should i play the chargers defense when i have both benson and ochocinco?
I rarely factor these elements in. The best lineup I can put forward is the best I can do, even in the face of complications. There are exceptions where I might augment this take, but this isn't one of them.
Please tell me if you'd start Big Ben or Kitna. I change my mind every 5 minutes.
I prefer Kitna, he's been the better fantasy play over the past month, no? It's time to trust that he'll produce, particularly in a prime matchup.
Now I have a machine gun ho ho ho! Do I roll the dice with AD this week or take the safer path with Blount? AD's late start scares me. Advice?
Highly underrated Christmas flick. I would go with Blount; the matchup is good and unless we get complete confirmation either way about Peterson (and it would be tough to trust them anyway) you have to play this safe if you don't have Toby on the roster.
For a flex position which is the better play? They are close in the rankings but which is the best option. Stewart tonight against the Steelers or going with Ronnie Brown who cannot break 3.0 yards a carry, and the last option one of the Saints Thomas or Ivory?
Tough pickings here, but I'd go with Stewart here, who at least will get steady work against a Pitt defense that looked softer to the run last week. This is more a statement on the lowly options than Stewart's prospects.
O/U on Dez Bryant in the 4th Round in next year's draft?
I'd say over, as in 5th round and up. Could see him hit the 4th if he has an amazing camp or something like that, as the hype would build, but 5th is a reasonable spot.
Yo ho ho and a pint of Brass Monkey. Jim, now that Sexy Rexy has made Cooley relevant again do you like him over Owen Daniels this week?
I prefer Cooley, just more embedded in that offense.
Tashard Choice or J Stew- who to play for RB2?
I'd go with Choice, even with potentially increased comp for work. For Stewart I'm expecting 80 or so yards, solid real work, but not spectacular fantasy results.
WHERE ARE MY DETANATAHS?!?!Also, whom should I start as my #3? I have Manningham, Armstrong, and Blair White. My perfect season hangs in the balance! How many times do you get to have an undefeated fantasy season? I NEED THIS!
Not sure how we devolved into a Die Hard themed chat but we'll work with it. I like Manningham the most here, even with the toughest of matchups of the group. He's simply a dedicated target, while the others seem to be secondary and tertiary options.
Jamar Chaney or Vilma in a tackle heavy league?
Vilma gets the nod against a run-first Atlanta offense, but Chaney makes for a really nice pickup for those in need of LB help.
Jim, we appreciate all you help all season.... One last question; Pick one TE for the championship game... Lewis, Daniels, Boss or Hernandez? Thanks!
Lewis is a premier touchdown producer and red zone target, especially considering what Witten just did to the Washington defense.
Felix Jones practiced full on Thursday, and will be the MAN, Saturday vs. Arizona...NOT Choice-- FYI
why do you hate Owen Daniels?
I don't, in fact I think he's a really solid option. But I suppose I've endorsed Boss and Lewis over him, but I'm not sure that means I'm down on him. It's just that I prefer the red zone rapport those other options have forged with their QBs, and it seems Foster, Walter, Johnson and even Jones factor ahead of Daniels down there.
I was kidding with that comment by the way... on a serious note, which Defense has more upside in the MIA/DET game?
Miami has more upside if only because their pass rush is buoyed by Wake and Dansby.
help out a farmer; pick 2 to start britt, roddy white, santana moss, blair white or boldin. thanks from the heartland
White and Moss my farming friend.
Hello Jim was wondering if you think Adrian Peterson starts and how productive do you think he will be Thanks
AP practiced today on a limited basis, but I couldn't see waiting on him without Toby in tow.
Did that guy really ask whether or not Roddy White was a start?? Really??? We're 15 weeks in for goodness sake.
I think most dudes just plug in their whole wr corps and want us to pick through it. But I hear you, there are some confounding concerns this late into the season, must be the stress.
White over Britt?? Why don't you like Britt? I'm deciding between Maclin, Britt, Austin, and Garcon for WR2 - thoughts?
That was Roddy White that I meant. I'd go with Maclin, simply a touchdown maker and the Minny pass defense is depleted and young.
Merry Christmas Jim! Am I going to pay more attention to Vernon this week or shall I just start Jacob Tamme in my PPR this week?
You might pay attention but it will be from the sidelines watching your cousin Troy. I'd stick with Davis over Tamme here, just a superior talent and Tamme has been ailing of late, possibly limiting his production.
Jim, thanks for the chat! need some help w/ my OP: Sydney Rice, Blair White, Hasselbeck, or Troy Smith?
The rare OP spot, only played in one of those leagues before, was fun, but also essentially a 2-QB league for most cases. That said, I'd go with Troy Smith here, the wily vet has proven to produce and be fairly effective in protecting the ball, while Hasselbeck is quite Delhommian lately.
How do people get to respond to your response and I can't get an answer. Your opinion is needed please. pick 3 Fitzgerald, Garcon, Wallace, Briit, or VJax
I'd sit Garcon and Wallace.
I'm not going to lie: I can't wait for this season to end. I'm in the championship in one league, lost in a semi in a different league. I was top points in both leagues, but I feel like I ran two marathons....I'm just winded, but I had fun.
And we're potentially, even likely, facing 18 games.
Last minute gift.....Britt or Bowe WR......Britt Blount or Bowe flex??
Go with Bowe at wideout, I just have a feeling he gets back into the end zone this week, and Blount at flex.
Go with Bowe at wideout, I just have a feeling he gets back into the end zone this week, and Blount at flex.
Come on! Some of us still have strategy questions! No Gerhart for me. My bad. Do you think that Marshall or Britt will have good enough games that I can save Maclin as a backup in that flex spot?
I think that's a solid strategy given your situation.
How does trading picks for keepers in a keeper league work?
Every keeper league is essentially unique, but it's often just like it sounds; trading picks in the next draft in exchange for a keeper commodity.
Lightning Round: Ward, Walter, or Armstrong?
I'd roll with Armstrong here in a shootout. The Carolina secondary is pretty solid, it's their sorry rush defense that deflates their overall defense.
Ben, Garrard or Tebow? Thanks!
Garrard. The Tebow hype is understandable, but he's not nearly a complete product, even with a great matchup. I could see him factoring in a deep league, but would prefer a more refined vet.
Tamme or Gonzo?
Bess or Britt in ppr?
Britt is guaranteed some good vertical looks, can't say Bess isn't more than just a short valve.
Floyd going to play?
Hard to say, he's talking a good game about being ready by Sunday. Have other options ready, but he should do well if he's a go.
I am playing this week?
I'm not sure, if that helps. I suppose I say that because in the mysterious process that is NFL injury reporting there hasn't been anything conclusive about this situation. He didn't practice at all yesterday and is clearly limited with the knee issue. I would assume he goes if that's just my gut take, given how crucial this game is. That said, it's vita to have Jennings ready if you are waiting on MJD.
Thanks everyone for checking in and I want to wish you a happy holidays and good luck in this important week. Hit me up on Twitter for some help this weekend, even over the holiday, @JMcCormickESPN.
