Fantasy NFL with Jim McCormick

Jim McCormick
  (11:52 AM)

Hey everyone, starting a little early here so we'll end a tad early - have some family obligations to attend to today. Not that you care, the real deal is talking about the all important fantasy championship round. Let's go...

Goonga (Philly)

What do you think of Rashad Jennings vs. Washington this weekend? Thinks he steals enough of MoJo's carries to become viable?

Jim McCormick
  (11:54 AM)

Really tough to call Jennings' workload. I expect them to run a ton after getting away from it this past week vs. Indy. I would consider Jennings a flex play at best, but can understand how deep leagues and eroded rosters force us to consider these options.

Out of the Playoffs (Wondering what to do with my life)

I will forever curse the name Johnny Knox! I shall have my vengance!

Jim McCormick
  (11:54 AM)

Understood, fantasy villains are hard to get over.

Joe (Pittsburgh)

Hillis, forte or P.Thomas this week..pick one

Jim McCormick
  (11:55 AM)

Sticking with Hillis here.

Joe R. (Chicago)

FANTASY SMACKTALK!I wanted an expert's opinion. Chris is GOING DOWN in our league's Fantasy Championship next week, agreed?

Jim McCormick
  (11:56 AM)

Couldn't agree more Joe.

Tim (MS)

Which 2 RBs should I start for the title: Ahmad Bradshaw, Fred Jax, LT, Tolbert, Chris Ivory? Thanks!

Jim McCormick
  (11:58 AM)

I believe in Bradshaw, still, even with the tough GB matchup. For that second spot, I'd roll with Jackson against a New England defense that can be spotty vs. the run if the pass game is sellable, which Buffalo should be able to accomplish.

Frank (The Tank)

Ok to trust Britt and VJax over Bowe, S. Johnson, and Branch in the finals? .5 ppr

Jim McCormick
  (11:59 AM)

Britt isn't in the best matchup vs. a competent KC secondary (although with issues). That said, I'd prefer Jackson and Stevie Johnson.

Mike (Boston)

Big Ben or Garrard this week?

Jim McCormick
  (12:00 PM)

Garrard faces an amazingly generous Washington secondary in what could be a shootout, go with him.

Chris (NYC)

Is it being too cute to replace Carpenter after I survived his 0-4 week?

Jim McCormick
  (12:01 PM)

Kickers are ever-replaceable, go for a new leg in a better offense.

Syracuse Steve (Syracuse)

Was Donald Brown's great game an anomaly or a sign of things to come? Roll with him or one of the Dallas running backs?

Jim McCormick
  (12:03 PM)

In the sense that Indy realizes it must pose some threat from the ground it's a nice sign of future dedication to the run. It also sets up Manning with sellable play-action plays, as he connected on 12-13 PA attempts this past Sunday. Look for Brown to enjoy a nice workload and good numbers against an unsound Oakland run defense.

Max (Work)

Roll with Blount or FJax at flex in a no ppr?

Jim McCormick
  (12:04 PM)

Seattle on the road is an inviting matchup for Blount heads.

Kerry (Seattle)

Wow - kicker question! Hartley or Buehler for the championship?

Jim McCormick
  (12:05 PM)

It's strange, but games come down to the kicker sometimes. In this case I'm going with the Dallas kid; should be busy and his offense is prone to stall.

Matt ( Chicago)

Lost Gates, who is my title game TE, Jimmy Graham or Zach Miller(OAK)?

Jim McCormick
  (12:05 PM)

Graham has Brees' eye, which is more valuable than Jason Campbell's.

Ryan (San Diego)

I am not a happy Adrian Peterson owner after he failed to break my tie last night by not starting and of course I lost bench point tiebreaker by 3 because Sidney Rice didnt do anything. Merry Christmas everyone!

Jim McCormick
  (12:06 PM)

The fantasy playoffs, everybody.

Dan (Manchester, NH)

TE Time: Daniels or Boss

Jim McCormick
  (12:07 PM)

I'd roll with Daniels; he's on the rise and Denver's defense checked out a month ago.

Collins (LR, AR)

Your right Jim. I won by .6 of a point because Gould didnt get to kick another FG. Thoughts on NE Defense this week?

Jim McCormick
  (12:08 PM)

I like the NE defense after a wake-up call against the Pack. They'll give up yards and some points, but should force Fitz into enough mistakes to be a worthy play.

Matt (Chinatown)

I overcame a Vick + Rice team this week thanks to the 35 point combo of CHI DST and Janikowski, so all roster spots are important? Stick with Da Bears or go for the Chargers or Cowboys this week?

Jim McCormick
  (12:10 PM)

I was really high on the Cowboys for this Arizona matchup but after seeing Grossman look legit I'm not so sold anymore. I'd personally ride with the Bolts at the Bengals; should be able to capitalize on a number of Cinci mistakes and get to Palmer regularly. The Bears are solid, no doubt, but the Jets will likely lean on a methodical run-first scheme.

Jeff (Vegas Baby!)

Think Torain has another solid game vs. Jax or do I roll with FJax vs. NE?

Jim McCormick
  (12:11 PM)

I do, Torain is in a good spot to produce against the beatable Jags' defense.

Mike (Columbus)

If Joe Webb keeps his qb/wr flex status in my league and makes the start at QB next Sunday would it be smart to plug him in the WR slot? His chances of throwing or rushing for a TD is much greater than many receivers chances of catching one right?

Jim McCormick
  (12:12 PM)

It's true that his scoring potential is considerably higher, but his turnover potential is much higher, as well. Consider him a unique risk/reward, it's the cost of exploiting the loophole.

Dan (Dallas, TX)

Should I be worried that the Gronk got skipped over in the last NE game? Time for a replacement?

Jim McCormick
  (12:14 PM)

His game logs indicate that he's prone to boom-or-bust, and used contextually as the gameplan deems it. I'd seek out a more reliable, or upside, talent if possible. Graham in NO?

Tommy (Detroit)

Better start: Rodgers or Schaub?

Jim McCormick
  (12:14 PM)

Assuming Rodgers goes, I still prefer Schaub. Sounds crazy, but the matchups are so different that I can endorse this.

Jacob (Michigan)

Is Ward a must-add for Foster owners?

Jim McCormick
  (12:15 PM)

He was in October.

Alex (Boston)

Would you hang onto Gates and Collie on the off-chance they play this week, or pick up some extra guys to keep them away from your opponent?

Jim McCormick
  (12:16 PM)

I can't see how Collie could play this week, would really go against the head injury climate that's developed this season and the past few years. Gates? I'd hold onto him if only for a potential recovery, given that he's dealing with the same injury and the issue is pain management.

Dan (Dallas, TX)

Got to love this time of year when the chats arent as crowded. I saw you touched on Britt earlier, but would you play Britt vs. Welker in a non ppr?

Jim McCormick
  (12:17 PM)

It's true, Dan, the numbers are much lower in these chats as only the "live" teams are concerned. In a non-PPR I think Britt is more attractive for yardage and scoring potential.

Boo (IDP Champion)

Are you ok with benching Willis for Beason or Spikes in IDP

Jim McCormick
  (12:21 PM)

I'd consider the other options but would stick with Willis in the end, just retains more upside even with the club hand.

Jim McCormick
  (12:21 PM)

Sorry tech issues on my end.

Jim McCormick
  (12:21 PM)

Sorry tech issues on my end.

Chris (NJ)

Cooley-o or Graham?

Jim McCormick
  (12:21 PM)

Rolling with Cooley still, just such a better baseline and similar upside.

Tom (Flooded in San Diego)

Pickup M,Morris and start him over Dixon, McGahee or S.Green?

Jim McCormick
  (12:22 PM)

Yep, I'd start him over all these options.

Ryan (Bradley Beach, NJ)

Battle of the Brandons... Marshall or Llyod in a .5PPR?

Jim McCormick
  (12:22 PM)

Sticking with Lloyd Christmas.

David (Plattburgh, NY)

if Foster pulls a Peterson and unexpectedly does not play is Ward a Viable starter against Den?

Jim McCormick
  (12:23 PM)

Ward becomes a very viable starter in that case.

Jon (Chicago)

Tampa Bay or Dallas Def?

Jim McCormick
  (12:24 PM)

While Hasselbeck has morphed into Jake Delhomme, I still prefer the anemic Arizona offense.

Jim McCormick
  (12:24 PM)

While Hasselbeck has morphed into Jake Delhomme, I still prefer the anemic Arizona offense.

Tim Tibow (Denver)

I am a better option than Big Ben and Garrard this week and will lead teams that roll the dice to fantasy victory.

Jim McCormick
  (12:25 PM)

A meeting with Houston is very inviting for Tebow, but I'd likely ride with Garrard in a similarly favorable meeting, with a better rapport with his targets.

Jim (KC)

I have trouble listening to a guy who cant spell his own name right! Thoughts on Bowe this week?

Jim McCormick
  (12:27 PM)

The Tibow family would only be so lucky to make a Tim. I think Bowe remains a great TD option, but that offense remains predicated on running. That said, I'd still consider him a top 15 threat given the fickle nature of the position.

John (Cashville)

I am so hungry.

Jim McCormick
  (12:27 PM)

No doubt Johnny, I'm starving as well.

Michael (Rochester)

What are the chances Donald Brown scores more fantasy points than either AP or Bradshaw against tough opponents?

Jim McCormick
  (12:28 PM)

Fairly good, actually. The fantasy playoffs are bizarro world, so this is what happens. Upstarts out-do stars.

Chuck (NC)

Thoughts on Phil d this week?

Jim McCormick
  (12:29 PM)

They'll feast on that patchwork Minny offense.

Pete (Boston)

Run with Kitna while he has momentum or go with Freeman for a safe bet?

Jim McCormick
  (12:29 PM)

I'd prefer Kitna, that offense is moving and the defense is generous; this should lead to a solid outing.

Ebenezer Scrooge (London)

What type of Christmas present will Darren McFadden be for his owners this weekend?

Jim McCormick
  (12:30 PM)

A good one? No receipts or returns, but that Indy rush defense is weak, even after a sweet Jacksonville performance.

Chad (Hong Kong)

What are your thoughts on playing two skill position players on the same team? I have Nicks and Boss with Kellen Winslow on the bench as well as other combos like R Wayne and Brown

Jim McCormick
  (12:32 PM)

I'm not really opposed to any combo of players as long as they seem in the best position to produce. There are limits, of course, and risks, being tied solely to one performance. In this case, I'd roll Nicks and Winslow.

V Jax (San Diego)

Everyone doubted me last week, including you...aren't I a better play than D Bowe this week?

Jim McCormick
  (12:33 PM)

Yessir, go with Vincent.

Jim McCormick
  (12:35 PM)

Sorry y'all, like I said before, have some personal stuff to attend to. And like I said before, I'm sure this doesn't matter - you are here to get some fantasy counsel. That said, hit me up on Twitter and I'll get to you in the next two days; @JMcCormickESPN Sorry again guys, will stay late on Thursday afternoon. Good luck, be sure to check out Stephania later today for some great injury advice.
