Chat with Paul Kuharsky

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:01 PM)

Hi folks, how are we all doing? Busy week. Lots to talk about. Let's dive in.

Mike (NB)

Hi Paul - now that Adams seems to have made his decision, does VY have any trade value or will he be released at the first available opportunity? Can you think of any team interested in an overpaid, underachieving QB?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:02 PM)

Can't trade him until he new league year, which will be pushed back by the lockout. I feel certain they will release him before that. Trade worth was minimal at best.

Lawson (Murfreesboro, TN)

Any chance Donovan Mcnabb could end up in TN? Would the titans even want him?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:03 PM)

I wouldn't if I was the Titans. They need younger so they don't have an issue again soon.

Elizabeth (goofing off at work)

PK, how excited are you for the end of all "VY in the Wildcat" questions?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:03 PM)

Haven't had one in sometime with him out. But nice knowing they are gone for good.

Patrick (San Antonio)

If the Titans do decide to take a Quarterback in the draft who would you believe on the top of the list as of right now, assuming Andrew Luck is gone by the 8th pick.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:05 PM)

The next three now are Blaine Gabbert, Ryan Mallet, Jake Locker and Cam Newton. I'd lean Mallet or Locker, but don't know either well at this point.

Houston (Santa Cruz, CA)

OVER or UNDER --75% chance the Titans select a QB in the 1st round of the draft?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:06 PM)

If the lockout means there is no free agency or trade possibilities before the draft, then I think you have to draft one. Unless you have a back channel deal in place that's a guarantee. Which probably wouldn't go over well, and which would involve a 2012 draft pick, which is less exciting for the team trading the veteran.

Houston (Santa Cruz, CA)

Which defensive positions do the Titans need to address in this years draft/free agency the most? I would think QB,DL,LB,CB,S

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:07 PM)

Well you want me to include a QB on my defensive priority list? I won't. Beefy tackle, playmaking LB(s), strong safety.

Joey (Portland, OR)

If the Dolphins are willing to give Harbaugh almost $8 million a year, shouldn't some team be willing to offer Chip Kelly more than that. I mean the guy out-coached Harbaugh, his team out-played Stanford and beat Stanford. Go Ducks!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:08 PM)

How about body of work over one game? I don't know enough about Kelly.

Disgruntled Titans Fans (Mostly Nashville)

Kuharsky, you've finally done it! You've finally run VY out of town! Why are you so negative? You just hate the Titans!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:08 PM)

I am so busted.

Ed Hochuli (Indianapolis)

The wise NFL referees already flagged Gary Brackett for an illegal block during the Antoine Bethea return, and Brackett received a fine. Given that it was his 3rd violation of the season, do you think he should be playing in the WC round? Make it quick; I have to get my curls in.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:09 PM)

Have we seen details of the fine? I can't see him getting suspended for a playoff game.

Marcos (Miami,Fl)

A few reports coming out that Sporano is out, Harbough is in officially as early as tomorrow or early next wk seeing as though they have abide by the rooney rule? how do you see things shaping up? How much credibility has the Dolphins Ownership b/c of this whole process?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:10 PM)

You can't leave Sparano hanging like they have. And they'll get a huge hit from the league over passing on Rooney Rule.

Scott (Westchester)

Hi Paul and happy new year. What's the most likely landing spot for VY as of the moment?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:10 PM)

I'd look to NFC West or AFC West.

John (Hunstville, TX)

Texans 3-4, doomed to failure or destined for greatness?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:11 PM)

I like the idea of changing things up. But they need the people for it.

rolopes (Miami)

Will the Titans make a change at Dfense coordinator, and if so will it be someone from the current staff? Its obvious that Cecil is no Schwartz or Williams...

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:12 PM)

Were people in love with Williams and Schwartz after two years? I'm hard pressed to see Fisher ousting Cecil.

JB (TX)

PK, do you think we're here today if Fisher ran Vince back out there to flutter a couple of horrible passes with that busted thumb vs. Washington?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:12 PM)

Probably. Don't you?

Bill Polian (Indianapolis)

Pete Kuharsky, we look forward to you being in Indianapolis this weekend. We've informed ESPN that you will be replacing Al Alfalfa on the active roster. The next "Fat and 40" will be "Playing in Special Teams for the Colts." See you this weekend...

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:13 PM)

It was nice catching up with you Sunday. Hope the hip's healing well.

Mario Williams (H-town)

Dude, no way I'm playing in a 3-4. Trade me!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:13 PM)

Bruce Smith did OK under Wade.

Matt (IN)

ESPN's Ted Miller reports that Luck isn't entering draft. Just FYI

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:14 PM)

Major ripple effect. I applaud him wanting to stay, but what if he drops like Leinart. That's crazy money to leave on the table.

Chris (Grand Rapids, MI)

Excuse my ignorance please, but the Titans won't receive compensatory picks for releasing VY, right? He would have to leave in free agency in order for that to happen?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:14 PM)

Correct. And he has a year on his contract, so such a scenario wasn't going to happen.

Brian (TN by way of VA)

Put on your GM hat. Obviously VY won't be back, what would your next moves be regarding the Draft, Free Agents, cuts, etc. I want to hear your ideas not what their front office might be thinking.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:16 PM)

Again, we don't know where free agency lands with regard to the draft and I don't have a list of free agents in front of me. I would trade for Orton. I would get a play-making linebacker who can make plays in coverage. Add a big, durable DT. I'd consider moving Jason Jones to end as part of getting bigger on the line (Wycheck's idea.) I would find a SS. I would find the interior OL problem and fix it, maybe with an addition.

Brett (New York)

Who are you picking in Saturdays AFC wild card game? Indy or New York?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:17 PM)

I don't make picks on AFC South games.

Jeremy (Houston)

Does switching to a 3-4 make a DT selection more of a priority over CB or S. And do you think they'd be more likely to sign veterans in the secondary and draft linemen?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:18 PM)

The front won't matter if they can't cover anyone. I don't think it's a good year for safety. So it's a good thing they didn't chase Berry or Thomas, isn't it?

Kyle (Rochester, NY)

How does Andrew Luck staying at Stanford change the draft for AFC South teams?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:18 PM)

Each has one less good player available to them when their turn rolls around.

Elizabeth (goofing off at work)

To save time, are there ANY positions on the team other than kicker that the Titans do NOT need to draft for?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

OT. FB?

Finley (Via Mobile)

Do you think Simon and I might get a couple of biscuits and maybe a happy meal for our old VY jerseys?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

More value than a Moss jersey, I warned people not to buy those.

Rogerio (Miami)

Will Cook be a starter next year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

He'll be the first option as the pass catching tight end.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:20 PM)

ATTENTION CHAT PARTICIPANTS: I've addressed Luck staying in school and my thoughts on what the Titans should do at QB. You are invited to read what's already been covered.

Harish (Fargo ND)

Paul, Who is the backup WR if Wayne, Garcon or white go down? I havent seen any play in the games before.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:21 PM)

Taj Smith, the guy who's been flying around on special teams.

Jeremy (Houston)

Is the Lockout a definite at this point?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:21 PM)

Not definite until March 4 arrives with no agreement. But all but definite.

Karen (Nashville )

In another writer's chat this morning - he said he saw VY as a backup QB on his next team. What about you? Is he backup or starter?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:22 PM)

A backup at best. A backup who's got beat out another option to make the roster.

Matthew (Mississippi)

Paul, I anticipate Foster will have another great year next year in Houston. With that QB and receiving corp defenses cant key on him like CJ2K in Tenn. You agree?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:23 PM)

That offense should be consistently productive and threatening. But it's got to have a plan that works in the first quarter.

Jack Del Rio (Jacksonville)

Its playoffs or bust for me in 2011...do you think we make the playoffs or bust?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:23 PM)

I need to pick the 2012 playoff field before the 2011 playoffs begin?

Brett (CT)

I have a strong feeling the Titans will reaquire Haynesworth this offseason. Will a fourth round pick do it? How about one troubled player for another and trade Vince for him. Washington does need a QB even though Shanahan would never do it

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:24 PM)

Problem: Can't trade player for pick during lockout.

John (Huntsville, TX)

Under or over: 5 new starters on the Texans defense on opening day 2011?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

Counting Barwin? I say five counting him. Two new safties, a new DT and a new LB.

Darrick (Denver, CO)

Is Brian Billick interested in the 49ers head coaching job?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

I think he's interested in anyone that will talk with him.

Schmeeg McSchmeeg (Coatesville, Indiana)

What position do you believe the Jags should go for in the first round? I figured safety, but there doesnt seem to be a deep safety draft according to the ESPN rankings. Should they maybe go LB? or WR and try to get a Blackmon, Julio Jones type of player?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

Perhaps QB.

Jeremy (Houston)

Do you think Nolan is able to to take over for Pollard? Pollard can hit, but he cant cover a baby with a blanket. I know we havent seen much of Nolan, but im just wondering what you thought.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:26 PM)

I think they need two new starting safeties. As does Jacksonville. The Jags might survive with one and Courtney Greene.

Drew (M-Town)

What would it cost the Titans if they traded for Orton?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:26 PM)

A second or third.

Matt (Chicago)

Everyone discusses how the Ravens were lucky to avoid the Colts but what about the Colts avoiding the Chargers? The Colts might not say it out loud but the hate playing the Chargers cause it's an awful matchup

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:26 PM)

The Chargers aren't in the playoffs, so it wasn't really difficult to avoid them.

Fred (Johnson City, TN)

I consider the Colts offensive line to be one of the worst in the NFL, even considering their pass blocking. The Titans got almost instant pressure on Manning. I have seen no improvement throughout the year. The fact that Manning is getting rid of the ball most of the time within two seconds makes the line look better than it actually is. How would you rank the Colts offensive line within the AFC South?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:27 PM)

Last. But still good enough to win more than any of the other teams. They need to dedicate some resources there ASAP.

Rob (Green Cove Springs, FL)

Lots of Jaguar fans are losing their minds right now. With the roster he's had since Gene Smith took over, I don't mind Del Rio coming back. Do you think it's detrimental to the ongoing Team Teal process? Do you think it will hurt ticket sales? I guess I'm hoping for a high profile QB in the draft & a splash (at least a ripple) in free agency...

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:28 PM)

You're down there. Are people saying they won't renew?

David (Nashville)

Do you ever get sick of Fisher have a pat answer for everything?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:28 PM)

See post from Monday after Chiefs game. http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/19713/after-ninth-loss-fisher-has-few-answers

Demetric (Atlanta)

Beloved ESPN personality Skip Bayless stated that Bud Adams made a huge misktake choosing Fischer over Young anf=d that it will set the Titians back; agree?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:29 PM)

A) Adams hasn't chosen Fisher for sure yet. B) Anyone who takes Young over Fisher doesn't know much about Young.

Fred (Johnson City, TN)

Paul, if March 4 arrives and Manning does not have a contract with the Colts, what is his status?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:29 PM)

He's locked out. They may be able to put a franchise tag on him before that, I am not certain. But they are not at any risk during the lockout, And he's not going anywhere anyway.

Rick (Houston)

Will there still be a draft with a lockout?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:30 PM)

Yes, it's the last thing that will happen under the current agreement.

Jackson (Houston)

What do you think will happen to Steve Slaton with Ben Tate coming back off his injury and with Foster and Ward ahead of him?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:30 PM)

I think Slaton will have to show something in camp. Was not a good kickoff returner. His neck may be an issue.

Max (The internet)

If the Titans traded for Orton, do you think he'd apologize for calling them dirty? I think the OL problem is with Leroy Harris, it seems every time they get called for holding his number is called. Maybe work with Velasco some more and move him to center and Eugene Amano back to guard or put Velasco in place of Harris?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:31 PM)

I think they could patch that up and joke about it. They love Harris, so I expect he gets a further chance.

JC (TN)

A Redskin fan friend of mine told me he'd trade Haynesworth and McNabb for VY in a heartbeat? Is he nuts?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:32 PM)

Will never happen. Shanahan won't like Young, and AH and McNabb come with contracts the Titans wouldn't want. McNabb is old.

Nick (Jacksonville)

Gruden, Cowher, Billick, Dungy - who's coaching next year, and who's still yakking?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:33 PM)

I think they are all yacking.

Jeremy (Houston)

Does it bother you as much as it bothers me that the Texans really didnt interview anyone for the DC besides Philips and a call to Marvin Lewis.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:33 PM)

It was pretty clear where they were heading, even before the finale. I don't want a charade either.

Elizabeth (goofing off at work)

Who caves in first in the contract negotiations, owners or players?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:34 PM)

Players. Always.

Scott (Ottawa)

Paul, what's the real story on the Titan's failure to use Randy Moss? Was Fisher opposed to him being added to the team?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:35 PM)

I thin Fisher was his biggest advocate. I think VY failed to make the throws they called to Moss early. And then I think they concluded Moss was done.

Eddie (White House, TN)

Do you think anyone would be interested in VY playing another position?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:35 PM)

Least of all VY. I am not a position-change guy.

Rob (Green Cove Springs, FL)

I haven't heard anybody say they won't renew. And a lot of people signed up for the 30/30 plan, so they locked in 2009 rates. I guess it's just Gator Nation screaming they won't buy tickets, but they don't buy tickets anyway. Mr. Weaver usually opens his checkbook at least once...any ideas who they might target?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:37 PM)

The best safety out there. I think Eric Weddle may be heading for free agency if it's four years.

John (Huntsville, TX)

Do you find it strange that Wade Phillips would sign on somewhere where one missed playoff appearance means the head coach gets canned? Do you think he might be counting on the fact that any new head coach would keep him around?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:38 PM)

What an opportunity to rehab an image.

John (NY)

Paul...do you think Britt will be an all-pro soon?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:39 PM)

All-Pro means one of the two best receivers in the league. That takes a while to earn even if you are deserving. I think he can be very good and the best guy the Titans have had since they relocated.

Tim Graham (AFC East)

Sorry I was a little snarky during our Double Coverage article. You did a pretty good job of sticking up for the Colts though. How about an order of wings from St Elmos?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:39 PM)

You are so high brow.

Drew (Nashville)

Do you think Dungy will coach again? And if so, are the Titans in play?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:39 PM)

Not now, and no.

Jeff (Lincoln, NE)

Top candidate for Titans coach if Fisher gets outed?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:40 PM)

Look to Reinfeldt connections from Green Bay and Seattle years.

Joseph (DC)

PK, One of your RTC articles early this week said Wayne is on the decline. It even went as far to say they shouldn't renew his contract after next year. I think he is one of the few WRs in the league that is consistent through double coverage. Your thoughts on Wayne?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:40 PM)

I do think there is a bit of decline there, but he's still excellent. More big mistakes this year than usual.

Andy (Olathe, KS)

Just now getting caught up. Don't you mean VY will probably land in the NFC West or Oakland? Rest of the AFC West don't really need a QB, since I doubt VY wants to be a backup.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:41 PM)

Who says he's guaranteed a starting job?

GREGORY P BEARRINGER (Knoxville, Tn)

One more Vy question: is it just me, or if the Organization was 100 per cent committed to Fisher wouldn't they announce Fisher coming back first? it seems to me like the best way to get rid of them from a PR perspective is to announce VY gone first, then to get rid of fisher. Is all the talk about Adams stalling in order to keep fisher as an alternative true?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:43 PM)

All what talk? As an alternative to whom? I think he wisely separated VY from Fisher. Now considering Fisher on own merits. But not anxious to pay two guys (especially when neither may be working because of lockout.) If Lewis gets a new deal and Del Rio and Kubiak survive, Fisher can as well. But we'll have to see.

Austin C. (Indianapolis)

I plan to take the offseason to think long and hard about whether I should quit the game. I solicit any and all advice to help me make my decision. Your thoughts?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:43 PM)

I think it's silly that people are making retirement decisions for you when you have months and months to recover and see how you feel.

Vincent (Ypsilanti,MI)

Do you think the Lions are finally on the right track?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:44 PM)

Absolutely. They could be in the playoffs next year.

d1amond12 (football fanland)

Are the Titans closer to the playoffs now than at 5-3 with a healthy VY?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:44 PM)

Does he play defense?

Mike Reinfeldt (LP Field)

Should we bring Jeff Fisher back next year? Bud can't make up his mind. I think Bill Cowher would look great on the sidelines in Nashville. Or maybe Harbaugh? Or Fisher for year #16? Hmm... help me Paul!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:45 PM)

You know that Cowher and Harbaugh are not possibilities in Nashville if a change is made, right?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:46 PM)

ATTENTION CHATTERS. Please read this post, whether you competed with the coin or not. Congrats: Josh Snell crushed the coin http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/20193/congrats-josh-snell-crushed-the-coin

fayetteville,IN [via mobile]

What team would benefit the most with Vince Young @ QB

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:46 PM)

Florida Tuskers.

Steven (Kingsport)

Oh, and watched the coverage of the VY fallout and man Trent Dilfer nailed it, basically that the Titans QB can't be on the roster. VY is too immature and Collins is at a point where he can win for you if you need him for 2-3 games but he won't hold up for 16 games.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

They have no plans for it to be Collins or Smith. That's no secret.

Jason (TN)

Is there any interest in Seattle s playoff games, beings your brother is getting on up there and with the possibilty of this being his last hoorah?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

I'm all booked for Indy.

Colt (St Louis)

Why don't more teams bypass the Roony rule? Miami seems to be able to do it, and no one seems to care.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

They will get a giant fine. Could lose a pick, maybe.

Steven (Kingsport)

Paul: I think Mr. Adams made a pretty clear statement that there will be changes on the coaching staff, so I don't think Fisher will have a lot of choice there unless he would like to be on the business end of those coaching changes.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

Which is a consequence he may accept.

John (Indy)

Don't the Colt's have to resign Charlie Johnson? My belief is he's involved in any reshuffling of the OL next year. Draft a LT and move him to G or RT.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:48 PM)

He's a good and versatile guy to have around.

GREGORY P BEARRINGER (Knoxville, Tn)

Is it just me, or does the Cape look like a terrible, terrible show?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:49 PM)

The girl from the Sara Conner Chronicles or whatever it was called is in that, right?

Mandy (St Lake City)

Hi Paul, love your blog! I thought teams had to interview a minority candidate before making an offer to a prospective head coach. Why is Miami able to make three offers without anyone pointing this out?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:50 PM)

Everyone is here has pointed it out. There will surely be consequences with a fine and maybe with a draft pick.

Brock (Tennessee)

Paul, I've got the CJ2K jersey... and the Finnegan pro bowl to wear in case I think a fight will break out. The problem is, I'm looking to pick up a new one for the upcoming season. Besides someone the Titans draft, which jersey should I pickup so that I can proudly wear it on Sundays?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:51 PM)

I think you should dress like it's not Halloween, personally. If you must play dress up, I'd go Britt. Or a Moss one will be dirt cheap.

Demetric (Atlanta)

Ouch the Florida Tuskers....it seems to me that you have a little angry for VY? He wont be a back-up or in the UFL he will be on a roster as a starting QB...book it down!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:52 PM)

I don't care for him, no. I like my quarterbacks to prepare and attend meetings and not to curse out the coach. But I am peculiar that way. He may go put in a half season somewhere and be 6-2. And you'll go crazy about it. And then he will fall apart.

Mike (Brentwood)

Did Rusty stink that bad against Houston that developing him during the offseason is not even an option?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:53 PM)

He's going to be locked out. Has to develop into a backup before he develops into a starter.

Kevin (Louisiana)

Prediction on Auburn Vs Oregon?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:54 PM)

Auburn by a lot, unfortunately. I will root Oregon because SEC fans in Nashville are unbearable. Tennessee fans rooting for Auburn in the name of the conference is just dumb. Like me rooting for the Red Sox -- and they wouldn't hurt my recruiting.

Byron (Knoxville)

It's my belief that if the Titans draft a qb and stick with fisher they have to extend his contract past one year. Obviously he cant be expected to have a good year (is possible but not expected) with a rookie qb at the helm. It wouldn't seem like a good business decision to spend a lot of money and then change the coaching staff after only 1 season. That being said, do you think Fisher deserves an extension at this time?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:56 PM)

I's agree -- if you're turning to a rookie QB he needs time and there's probably an extension. If it's a vet, it could be more a win-now deal. Another big issue -- only one assistant is under contract. How does Fisher assemble his staff if he's only got one year to offer. Washburn and Munchak could surely get better offers.

Dwight Freeney (Hartford)

I'm occupying 2-3 blockers per pass attempt, how come we don't blitz a bit more? And whatever happened to Jerry Hughes? I thought he was going to follow in my footsteps.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:57 PM)

Hughes is developing even more slowly than they prepared us for. Blitz more and Francisco, Tryon and Lacey are more exposed.

Roger (Chicago)

Being around the Titans, do you get the feeling that CJ is really just all about his 2k. He didn't really seemed too perturbed when the Titans didn't make the playoffs last year because he had a great season. This year they miss the playoffs which him having a down season and the first thing he does is make up a bunch of bs about phantom injuries plaguing him all year. Wouldn't mind seeing VY and CJ go if they can solidify a real leader/franchise QB.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:57 PM)

It was not a good year for him on the growth level in terms of team stuff, I'll agree. But I think he'll get there.

John (Nashville)

Paul, I'm with you on what you'd like from your QB. So why did Jeff start him vs. Pittsburgh? What's it say about Jeff's thinking?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:58 PM)

Thought an ill-prepared VY provided best chance to win, I suppose. But wait, that runs counter to Jeff has hated Vince from birth garbage that everyone is spewing, doesn't it?

Tim Lincecum (Seattle Washington)

I smell a repeat for the san fran Giants. Doesn't it smell so sweet, PK?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:59 PM)

Yeah, that offense is really something. What a lineup. You have what, two or three bats? Nice year. Congrats. Won't happen twice. Get a haircut.

Lock Out (after 2011 playoffs)

I've noticed you've been referencing me alot this week whenever chatters ask questions about returning players for next year. To clarify for others, are there any NFL players this year not affected by me if and when I happen? :)

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:00 PM)

No. Picture yourself as a lock on a chain on a door. Only management has keys and they are not allowed to share them. Thus you are "Locked out."

Louis (Pittsboro, IN)

What are the colts looking for in the draft?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

Offensive line, cornerback, receiver.

Steven (Kingsport)

Fisher's "I think Kerry has got one more year left in him." statement terrified me. I had a flashback to other veterans who should be replaced that Fisher played.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

But not as the starter, he said.

McStratman (Indy)

The Tuskers need VY since they no longer have Dom Rhodes.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

Exactly. Though it's hard to replace Dom's personality. Love the guy.

Matt (IN)

Any thoughts on the baseball Hall announcements/snubs?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:02 PM)

Isn't Jack Morris better than Bert Blyleven? If I needed a guy for a game, I'd take Morris.

Jeff (Lincoln, NE)

Thoughts on the pitiful performance by the Big 10 on New Years Day?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:02 PM)

Ohio State looked good when they played.

Last Question for this Week's Chat (2011 Playoff Wildcard Editio

so glad to see you! Thought it might not happen after your final post last week. Is chat next season still up in the air or are we good to go? :)

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:03 PM)

Still the 2010 season. Could easily suspend operations after the season ends.

Kevin (Louisiana)

Do you think is it crazy to speak of CJ trade talk while is value is still high... especially considering contract situation... Oh, and I get it.. no trades with lock.. let's pretend there is no lock out

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:03 PM)

Why trade for a running back when you can find Arian Foster for nothing?

John (Austin)

Is Jeff Fisher a good coach? 6 winning season in 16 years and one Super Bowl appearance isn't awesome.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:05 PM)

You just jumped from good to awesome. Is there not a lot of room between the two? He's better than 14 coaches or vacant jobs right now, in my fast count.

Jeremy (Houston)

Could you interview Wade Philips? The Chron is happy to just write about him without so much as a conference call. And Mcclain is the only good writer for the texans there in my opinion,

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:06 PM)

He was quoted by both McClain and Berman in stories last night. Apology acccepted on their behalves.

Kevin (Louisiana)

Oh yea, undrafted free agents that lead the league in rushing are a dime a dozen... why sign any running back to a big contract... just pickup a guy off the streets.. he ought to do

A lot of RBs who are doing quite well were a lot cheaper than first round picks, Chief.

Matt Schaub (Texas)

Am I the long term solution for the Texans? How many wins will I lead them to next year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:07 PM)

I don't know about win totals. You aren't the greatest leader. you don't have the greatest pocket presence. But you could QB my team. I think you're pretty good.

CJ2K (Ca$hville)

I'm all for getting my number called to run the ball or have a pass thrown my way but even I think our offensive play calling is rather stale. I'm not asking to go for it on fourth and 20 or a trick play every other down but I think the offensive calls could use a spark. Do you agree?

Paul Kuharsky

Work on being a better pass catcher, that will help the cause.

Rogerio (Miami)

Hated to hear that VY is gone, but had to at least be somewhat suspicious as Fisher kept swtching to Collins, whebever VY threw a pick or fumbled...If you had to pick either QB as a permanet starter which one would you have picked, and why?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:08 PM)

I'd pick to go anther direction, which is what they've done. Had to pick Vince this last season given alternatives. When was Collins ahead of a healthy VY in 2010?

...Pete Kuharsky...did you make...a New Years Resolution...to use me more again...in the chat...

If there is demand... I could happily do that. I still use you a ton in email...

Steven (Kingsport)

or why add RB to the "position we need to fix" by trading CJ when that list already includes QB, every level of the defense and interior line. I am thinking young, offensive playmakers (namely CJ, Britt, probably Cook looking at the last two week) is the place to build not dynamite.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:10 PM)

I agree. Titans should build around Britt, Johnson, Cook, Jones, Verner.

Alterraun Verner (LA)

I'm the jam! (literally & figuratively) Am I the next Revis?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:13 PM)

Can't a guy be good without the automatic question of whether he is going to be comparable to the best?

The Boss (Freehold, NJ)

PK, have you familiarized Simon with the We Are the World video? Some of my finest work, I think.
