Ohm
  (1:01 PM)

Hey guys, wud up!!!!

Jc (Fort Myers Fl)

Hey Ohm. With all their troubles this year holding on to the football being the biggest one if there is one thing it was painfully obvious this team needed was some team speed. Losing guys like Hixon before the season even started was a big blow to their special teams. Who in the draft is available at WR/RB/KR that can add to their overall team speed?

Ohm
  (1:03 PM)

JC... sorry man, it's only been a few days since the season ended and right now I am consumed with writing a series of what went wrong with the season and focusing on guys getting surgery and stuff. So I haven't been able to look toward the draft and who is available and who the Giants could key in on. That probably won't be for a while really. But you are right, they need more speed, more playmakers. They need special teams players for sure. Hixon could be back next season so that helps.

JJ (NY)

Having Coughlin see out the rest of his contract is a great move by the Mara's. I think this separates the Giants from other teams in the league who do not value class and stability as much as the win now at any cause attitude. This will make the Giants head coaching job just as appealing if available in 2011/2012 to a top name.

Ohm
  (1:05 PM)

JJ, yeah I would agree. The Giants organization is very very classy. And this is the right move. I know, the team didn't always play smart for Coughlin but they played hard. I think with a potential lockout looming, it would have been hard to get a new coach, who would have a new staff and would try to install a new system and you don't even know when he could try that. Then that coach would want his own players, it would be a complete overhaul. They didn't quit on Coughlin. Had it ended like last year, then I would say you could make argument for a new coach.

Sebastian (NY)

Do you think the Jets could win in Indy. i just think the colts are going to turn it on and jump on the jets early and put them in a come from behind situation

Ohm
  (1:08 PM)

Sebastian, I think the Jets will have a hard time winning this game. I was there last year for the AFC championship game. I know Peyton won't have Dallas Clark and what not but he still has weapons. The equalizer for the Jets is that many of his most trusted receivers aren't there or healthy. But Manning will find a way. Also, I am not sure if the Jets offensive line can block against Freeney and Mathis. Sanchez may have to win this one for them and that is a tall task. The running game is not as good as it was last year for the Jets. Defensively, the Jets have to keep this game close to have a shot.

Nate (Ft. Lauderdale)

What happened to the disciplined team the Giants were? I've never seen so many mistakes

Ohm
  (1:10 PM)

Nate Dogg, wud up? Yeah, starting with that game against the Titans when the Giants could stop getting penalized and the turnovers all season long, it appeared like the Giants weren't very disciplined. But if the coach keeps telling you every week not to turn the ball over and they keep doing it, there isn't much he can do outside of benching players like he did with Bradshaw. It's not like Coughlin just let the players rule. He tried hard to curb the turnovers. He says he can work on it and fix it the way he helped Tiki fix the fumbling problems.

Frank (Atlanta)

Ohm...what's up? Another year no playoffs!!! how do we get better.... maybe a LB that can make plays?

Ohm
  (1:11 PM)

Frank, yeah, another year out of the dance. I think the Giants can upgrade in some areas and add new young talent and depth in other areas. I think they need more depth at cornerback. I think they do need to bring in a linebacker. And maybe some more healthy bodies at offensive line and I think they can use a young running back as well.

Brian (CT)

What do you think the status of Jacobs will be? Do you think Plaxico will be a NYG in 2011?

Ohm
  (1:13 PM)

Jacobs is still under contract. But it remains to be seen what the Giants will do. If they draft a running back in the top three rounds -- something that would surprise me a bit -- then Jacobs could be gone. He did sign a big contract so after the potential lockout is done, anything could happen. As for Plax... I have to say I think it is a long shot. Hard seeing ownership bringing him back after all that happened. The Giants like their receiving corps a lot. But if Steve Smith can't come back, always a possibility. Giants will look into it.

roger (BC)

coaching staff good, players great, pride invisible thats the giants

Ohm
  (1:14 PM)

Well, I think there is pride. I think sometimes they just aren't that good, as evidenced by their games against Indy and Green Bay. They got outclassed in those games and in the Philadelphia losses, there was plenty of pride. They just couldn't get the job done.

Nate (FL)

Does Coughlin deserve an extension?

Ohm
  (1:17 PM)

Nate, I think he deserves at least another year. In an ideal world, would you like to make a coach go into his final year coaching for a new contract like a player has to play for his new deal? Yes. But when that happens, sometimes players don't respond to a coach knowing he could be gone. At least that is the way it works sometimes in the NBA. And the Giants typically do not let a coach go into the final year of his deal. So they could give him one more year on top of that. Remember, whatever the extension would be, the Giants can always fire him if they choose so if things don't work out next season.

Sam (PA)

Should we pay to re-sign Kiwi? Or trust Tuck, Osi, and JPP to fill in for Kiwi (as they did this year)?

Ohm
  (1:18 PM)

Sam, I think so, if he is healthy and can play again without risking serious injury. Remember, he has a neck issue. Kiwanuka was the most versatile defender for the team. Had he been able to keep playing, the Giants might've gotten one more win. He was important in Fewell's defense, moving between linebacker and defensive end. Jerry Reese said he has to decide whether to give Kiwanuka possibly a one-year deal to re-establish his worth.

Carlos (New Jersey)

Ohm,Do you see any potential in McNabb heading up to Buffalo or are the Bills content with Fitzpatrick at the helm?

Ohm
  (1:19 PM)

Carlos, I see potential in McNabb going anywhere besides DC. LOL. I guess it is possible. But I could see Arizona more likelier for McNabb. Fitz did a good job.

Ralph (Brooklyn NY)

Why hasn't Gilbride been let go yet???? I've been hearing that the Giants should draft a linebacker in the first round of the draft. But what about the aging offensive line?

Ohm
  (1:21 PM)

Ralph, Gilbride's offense was ranked in top five for a long time this season. And he had many injuries to offensive line and wide receivers. Finally, Coughlin is very loyal to his assistants and said he doesn't want to make any changes to the staff. Hard to fire an OC who had the unit in top five despite all those injuries. I know about the picks and fumbles and lack of running game later in the season. As for draft... I think Reese will continue to draft best player available over need. So it depends on who is there when they pick. But yes, offensive line, cornerback, linebacker are needs.

Mike (NY)

Ohm- tough to watch the playoffs again this year. What do you see as the Giants biggest needs? I'm thinking OLB, RB, TE, CB in that order.

Ohm
  (1:22 PM)

Mike, just stated it earlier... linebacker, cornerback, offensive line, young running back, tight end for sure. I don't have it in any particular order. Backup QB could also help as well. I think they need to get more athletic and quicker, especially on special teams.

Monks in Tibet (Tibet)

Ohmmmmmmmmmm

Ohm
  (1:23 PM)

The monks didn't do enough praying in Tibet for the Giants this season. LOL.

Andi (ny)

Young...what's up buddy? I need your help...I want to find stats on CBs. Especially Success % vs. Targets. ESPNNY did that earlier this year w/ NYG vs. Jets....but I can't find any for the entire season...you got any links or any advice?

Ohm
  (1:24 PM)

Andi... what up. I have no idea what you are talking about... LOL! Was that something KC Joyner did? Maybe you should send him an email. Is his email at the bottom of his stories? He usually does stat stuff like that.

Andi (ny)

Also...why is Jacobs so angry? what did you guys do to him? lol

Ohm
  (1:25 PM)

Andi, I wasn't there when Jacobs walked off. I saw him walk off from the other side of the locker room. I talked to him briefly after the Redskins game and he was polite to me. But I think he is just frustrated with the way the season ended. He is an emotional cat.

Dan (NJ)

Ohm- If your the Giants do you let Bradshaw walk? Between the health issues and fumbling I'm not sure he's such a wise long term investment. I can see a totally new backfield especially with the way Jacobs left off yesterday.

Ohm
  (1:26 PM)

Dan, I would bring back Bradshaw. I wouldn't break the bank, though, but he deserves to come back and be paid a fair amount. He is a playmaker. The fumbles, in my mind, can be corrected. And he plays hard and with heart and is talented. Hard to find that. Coughlin loves him. He runs so hard. I'd bring him back.

Brandon Jacobs (East Rutherford )

Hey Ohm- "F" you and your reporting.

Ohm
  (1:26 PM)

Thanks Brandon.

Andi (ny)

Not a question...just a comment.Gilbride's time in NY needs to end....that is all. Take Quinn w/ you Kevin!!!

steve (Manhattan)

what are the giants chances of resigning Cofield? I think he could command big money I havent been really following the chats but I thought he had a really good year and was their best DT...I know they tried to trade him last year and they drafted Linval Joseph but Cofield is still young

Ohm
  (1:28 PM)

Steve, I thought Cofield had a great season as well, especially since he just told Newsday that he played entire season with a shoulder injury and will need surgery. He plays hard and gave his heart for the team. I think the interior linemen, he and Canty, did a good job. Bernard wasn't bad and Linval was basically on the bench. I think it is time to get Linval some more PT though. I'd bring Cofield back. He is somewhat of a leader in that locker room.

ASN (NY)

Ohm, in your Take or Trash you say Take on Gilbride. Seriously, the stats are not the reason to keep him. He's become predictable in his play calling and this year seemed to abandon the run and force Eli and the hurt receivers corp into some awful passing situations. Isn't it time for a new, innovative O coordinator rather then a corrinator always calling the same plays to the point where the fans can predict it?

Ohm
  (1:30 PM)

I totally hear you ASN. But if you change the offensive coordinator, you are changing an entire system. Eli will be forced to learn a new system and so will the receivers. And how long will it take for them to learn it? And with a potential lockout, how much time will they have to learn a new system? What if the lockout goes to August and then they have less than a month to learn a new system? I hear you on the frustration with the playcalls. But this offense was explosive when healthy at times. And the stats are hard to ignore as well considering all the injuries they had.

Nate (Ft. Lauderdale)

Is it really a possibility that Perry Fewell will take a job in SF? I actually like him.

Ohm
  (1:30 PM)

Niners have asked for permission to talk to him as have the Panthers and Browns.

ASN (NY)

Who are the receivers on the Giants roster next season? Smith (if healthy), Nicks, Mannningham and who else?

Ohm
  (1:32 PM)

ASN... Smith, if they bring him back, his contract is up but I think they will. Nicks, Manningham. I think Barden is still under contract, gotta double check that later. Victor Cruz will be back in camp. And they could bring back Hixon and Clayton. I think Devin Thomas has another year left as well.

Rweb (Roswell, GA)

Ohm...2nd season of collapse down the stretch when it counted..so why are you so big on Coughlin? The last 8 mins of Eagles game and rolling over on Pack after coming back to tie was pathetic. All the talk of turnovers and they still cant correct it. "Cmon, man".

Ohm
  (1:34 PM)

RWeb... I wouldn't say I am so "big" on Coughlin. I do think they made the right move. I don't think they quit on Coughlin like they did last year. Remember how good they looked up till that last eight minutes. They were destroying the Eagles. Kill Coughlin on the onsides kick for sure and the no-hands team out there and sticking with Dodge. The turnovers are on the players. As for Green Bay, the Packers were pretty much going to beat almost anybody that was in their house that day. They completely outclassed the Giants. And if you want Cowher, how much time would he have to put his system in with a potential lockout? And is Cowher really that much better than Coughlin? Coughlin has had one losing season and has a Super Bowl.

ASN (NY)

Do you think one of the teams interested will take Fewell? If so, where do the Giants look for a D coordinator?

Ohm
  (1:35 PM)

ASN... don't know. He is a very impressive man, very positive thinking and I can see him interviewing well. If he leaves, I do not know right now what the Giants would do.

Rweb (Roswell, GA)

Back to you on Coach Coughlin. Given the collapse of last 2 years, he is a lame duck coach now ( 1 year to go and reportedly making $750K less in 2011), why not go over Spagnola and bring him home?

Ohm
  (1:36 PM)

RWeb, Giants will likely give Coughlin another year. They are going to meet soon. As for Spags, I am sure he has a contract too with the Rams.

Lliam (BMore)

Ohm my man!!! What are the chances Gilbride goes to UConn? Its painfully obvious the Giants aren't going to fire him so him choosing to go would our only hope.

Ohm
  (1:37 PM)

L... not sure... that UConn report I read kind of just floated his name as a possible candidate. Didn't seem to report that he is in fact a candidate.

Kevin (FL)

Ohm, You mentioned Coughlin working with Tiki on the fumbles. Why has it taken so long to try the same method with Bradshaw and Jacobs? It's not like the fumbling issue just started this season.

Ohm
  (1:38 PM)

Kevin, he did but with Tiki from what I understand, he spent an entire offseason working with Tiki on that. They started that during the season with Bradshaw. I am sure they will do that this offseason with Bradshaw. Tiki spent an entire year holding the ball a certain way everywhere he went at times.

ASN (NY)

Ohm, you say the Giants need a good back-up QB. Any reason you think rosenfels is n't the right guy for the job for them?

Ohm
  (1:39 PM)

Nothing wrong with Rosenfels. Just saying they didn't even have a third QB after Bomar left for Vikings. And remember, before trading for Rosenfels, they were thin at QB when Sorgi went down.

Lliam (BMore)

Ohm,Have you heard anything lately about Chad Jones? Dude looked like the real deal at LSU and I was really looking forward to seeing him in Big Blue.

Ohm
  (1:39 PM)

Blogged about it yesterday. Reese said he is still rehabbing but has a long long way to go. Check out the Giants blog on ESPN New York. Thanks.

big tigga (NYC)

ohm, i know this has been touched upon, but out kick/punt return games were awful and have been traditionally poor...when is it finally going to be our turn to draft a hester/desean jackson type(understand they don't grow on trees) ?

Ohm
  (1:42 PM)

Big Tigga, I agree, Giants need a playmaker back there. Need some speed. Hixon would have helped but he's no Hester and DeSean. Of course, there aren't many like those two. And if you draft one of those guys, you kind of have to play that guy at receiver as well since those guys with that kind of speed are usually WRs. Now if there is a cornerback with that kind of speed and playmaking, that is attractive option for Giants. I do know Hester is a converted WR. Hard to find Hesters though.

Ryan (Germantown, MD)

Realisticlly, what are the chances of losing Fewell and/or Gilbride to Head Coaching gigs?

Ohm
  (1:42 PM)

Probably more realistic for Fewell now that he has at least three teams interested in him.

Rossy Chomik (Motown NJ)

Please tell me that the "Sinorice Moss" era is officially. Never seen a less successful career span so long withthe same team...

Ohm
  (1:43 PM)

Rossy... he's been gone for a while. They put him on IR and then came to a settlement and waived him while back.

Ben (Philadelphia)

NY in filthadelphia. Painful ending to the season ohm, but I think that Gilbride needs to go. His playcalling is so questionable at times. lso, they need to get more athletic and faster on special teams and defense!!!!! Best headline of the year- BIG BLEW IT!! could not be sadi any better. Keep up the good work OHMMMMM!!

Ohm
  (1:45 PM)

Benny... thanks man. You guys really do not like Gilbride. LOL! I understand the frustration with the playcalling. But were you guys really that unhappy with him when the Giants offense looked awesome against Houston and Dallas and Seattle earlier in the season? And what about when they spanked the Redskins at home when Jacobs and Bradshaw had 200 yards and 4 tds? And what about when Eli had 4 tds vs Eagles? I know the picks and fumbles and how the Giants offense didn't do much in the final 8 mins vs Eagles in that loss. But I think you could find much worse than Gilbride.

Jimmy (Jersey)

What up Ohm, I think keeping Coughlin was the right move, there were really only two games that we just got straight up out played (indy,GB). I really feel that the play calling on offense in both Philly games hurt us and cost us both games (yeah in the 2nd game the defense collapsed but Gilbride got wayyyyy too conservative in the 2nd half... I realize we were top 5 in the league in offense but when it counted we couldnt sustain a drive and make a big play, our 4 minute offense was a joke... why in the world would we keep gilbride? and could you see him being let go other than moving on to another coaching job?

Ohm
  (1:46 PM)

I hear you Jimmy. I do think they get conservative sometimes. Could he leave for another job? My guess is he stays.

big tigga (NYC)

return men should be playmakers, a threat to break games open with a big play, ours can barely get to the 25, when will we finally fix this?

Ohm
  (1:46 PM)

Big Tigga, again, I think they are working on it this offseason. LOL.

AJB (RI)

If Fewell leaves...what about John Fox coming in??

Ohm
  (1:47 PM)

Good name... if he wants to be a coordinator again.

Jimmy (Jersey)

Didnt realize my last question had been talked about already so much so I got another for ya. If Fewell does leave do you see the Giants promoting a defensive position coach or going outside the organization say maybe John Fox?

Ohm
  (1:47 PM)

Homeboy just beat you to the punch. LOL.

Carlos (New Jersey)

Ohm, how are you feeling about the Jets vs. Colts matchup this weekend? I think the lack of a pass rush from the Jets front line is going to cost them against Peyton Manning. Seems like the Jets D will have their hands full.

Ohm
  (1:48 PM)

Carlos... answered earlier... I think this is a very very tough matchup for Jets. If I were the Jets, I would have rather faced the Chiefs. I still can't get over how Manning beat them last year. I know he has less weapons and Jets corners are better but they drafted Kyle Wilson for this game and I can see Manning taking advantage of that.

TJ (Arizona)

Pack fan here. Sorry we kicked the Giants out of the Playoffs, but hey next year....maybe

Ohm
  (1:49 PM)

TJ... winner of Eagles-Pack could go to Super Bowl.

Matt (DC)

Ohm, if the Giants use their franchise tag who do you think they place it on? I would do it on cofield, what do you think?

Ohm
  (1:50 PM)

Matty... great question. With the potential lockout looming, Giants have to see what they are working with. So can't answer that right now. Sorry my man.

Aaron (Ohm Nation)

Sup Ohm, love hearing you on ESPN radio every monday. As for my GMEN, the two biggest holes they have had all year are at linebacker and punter. Do you think they will finally draft a playmaking linebacker? And this has been a long long time coming but will they finally cut ties with Matt Dodge? He's the most pathetic punter in the NFL

Ohm
  (1:52 PM)

Aaron, wud up man? Thanks bro, appreciate it. Maybe one of these days they will let me give shout outs! Linebacker could use some athleticism and youth. Goff was solid. Boley... I think he can be better. Bulluck wasn't used enough but Fewell liked the three safeties and I think they were better with the safeties in instead. As for punter, they have stuck with him this long, I expect Dodge to be back in camp competing for his job. If you stuck with him through all this, because of his potential, you are going to bring him back to see what he does in camp.

Ohm
  (1:53 PM)

More on Dodge... think of it as if you were dating a girl who kind of was the girl next door, had potential but room to grow. You date her and stick with her and her issues early on. Then you dump her and she matures, becomes hot and all that potential she had, you threw it out the door and you prepped her to be great for the next dude... you don't want that to happen right? Ride it out. LOL.

Jake (VA Beach)

What about the Giants letting Bradshaw walk, since they are likely stuck with Jacobs (contract), and drafting a Kendall Hunter or DeMarco Murray in the 2nd round? Isn't it about time the Giants try to have a feature back again?

Ohm
  (1:54 PM)

Jakey... I haven't studied the RBs in the draft yet. I do think they can use a young runner. I like Bradshaw, think he plays super hard for the Giants and the effort is always there. He is very well respected in locker room. I think Giants try to bring him back.

Carl (WNY NJ) [via mobile]

Ohm,will the Giants try to make a run at Vick in the offseason?

Ohm
  (1:55 PM)

Carl... don't see that happening. Never know but I don't see the Eagles letting Vick get away from them.

Mitch (LA)

Waddup Big Ohm! What a bummer this season has been. Go Knicks!!!

Ohm
  (1:56 PM)

Wud up Mitchy! Yeah, big bummer. Knicks without Gallo for a few weeks though. But you gotta love Amare!

Aaron (Ohm Nation)

What about Dodge??? The guy is the biggest headcase in the NFL, shanks 3 punts a game. Why in the world did they stick with him the whole year?

Ohm
  (1:56 PM)

Check the girl next door analogy below... LOL.

Ben (Philadelphia)

I realize that the giants had some nice offensive games, but look at the teams they did it against. the cowboys, texans, and seahawks were all horrible pass defenses. They need a fiery offensive coordinator who can run a more complex offense. It may take time, but i think it would the right move in years to come. i just wish this CBA wasn't an issue, then replacing gilbride wouldn't be as big of a problem.

Ohm
  (1:57 PM)

I hear you Ben... you are right, Giants offense looked great against bad defenses. But what would it have done had Nicks and Smith and line stayed healthy all season? Maybe one more win and in the playoffs.

plaxico burress (jail)

with all these injuries at WR... can i play some football with the giants next season?

Ohm
  (1:58 PM)

Plax, if it were up to me, I'd have as many Spartans on the roster as possible.

Dave (Upstate)

I'm with everyone else. Gilbride is bum. How do we hire a guy that got snuffed out by Buddy Ryan haha

Ohm
  (1:58 PM)

LOL! Ok guys, if you all want to vent, keep venting and I will post.

TJ (Arizona)

I agree, be honest who are your picks for the Super Bowl and AFC/NFC Championship matchups?

Ohm
  (1:59 PM)

TJ putting me on the spot... I've been so consumed with Giants the last few days that I haven't broken down the playoff bracket yet. Sorry, don't mean to avoid it but I really haven't looked at the other teams yet.

ASN (NY)

Can Hixon or Ware be the return guy the Giants need for the spark? Ware looked like he could be something with a little bit of work and we never got to see hixon this season with the injury, plus both guys can be used on O

Ohm
  (2:00 PM)

I think they will make the return game better than it was this year. I thought Ware did a good job as KR. And I can definitely see Hixon back. Coughlin and team loves him. He was in the locker room for first time in a long time on Monday and several players surrounded him.

Joe (Las Vegas)

Ohm, I haven't heard anything about Eli. Did he have just a bad year with the picks or could this be a trend? Is it time to think about a new Qb? With 2 years in a row fading would a new Qb help? I know it not all Eli's fault, but if the offense was able to produce more late in the game, maybe you won't have the problem.

Ohm
  (2:02 PM)

Joe... wrote about Eli yesterday http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/columns/story?columnist=youngmisuk_ohm&id=5985766Check it out. It isn't time for a new QB. He is in his prime. Let him sort it out. He won a Super Bowl three years ago. Can't give up on Manning yet. He threw for 4,000 yards and over 30 TDs. Let him fix the INTs.

AJB (RI)

All I have been hearing on the airways is that the biggest reason the Gmen are not in the playoffs is under performing to their level of talent. Isn't that on the coach???

Ohm
  (2:04 PM)

AJB... I actually think they performed to their level. I think what you saw with the Giants is what they exactly are... good enough to beat the teams they are supposed to and bad enough to lose to the teams that are better than them. Could have and should they have beaten the Eagles at least once? Yes. Ultimately it is all on the coach. But they won 10 games despite a lot of injuries. If you want to make a coaching change, as I have said earlier in the chat, you have to worry about the potential lockout and how long a new coach would have to insert a new system. Also, are you definitely getting a better coach than Coughlin?

Jimmy (Jersey)

Giants have a pretty tough schedule again next year especially on the road with the division and NO,NE,NYJ. Obviously the Giants need depth at OL, LB, and DBs. I know you said you haven't spent much time on looking at the off season and with the labor talks possibly being an issue, but are there any free agents that could help the gmen at any of the positions they need help at knowing Reese will draft talent over need?

Ohm
  (2:05 PM)

Jimmy... I hear you but we don't even really know what the status will be of some free agents due to the labor strife. Gotta wait it out homey.

Giants311 (Cincinnati)

Hey Ohm, how you living? Any updates on how Chad Jones is doing with rehab? Will he ever be in a uniform?

Ohm
  (2:06 PM)

Wud up man. Reese said yesterday they receive tapes of his rehab sessions and he said all he can tell is Chad has a long long way to go.

Lliam (BMore)

Ohm...Since you just talked to Plax about Spartans on the roster, have you seen either of the two LBs the Spartans have? Both should be impact players on Sundays. Any chance we get one of them?

Ohm
  (2:07 PM)

I have seen both. I watched every game this year. Love Greg Jones... very quick, good closing speed, played hurt this year. Gordon is a solid guy. I wonder, though, about the level of competition they played against. Big Ten is good but they don't have speed and athleticism like SEC. I think Jones can be good though. As for Giants getting one of them... we'll see. Giants like to draft best talent available. Jones could be gone by third round.

funkenstien (nj)

why is kevin gilbride still employed by the giants?

Ohm
  (2:07 PM)

Yes sir Funkenstein.

TJ (Arizona)

Ohm your killing me here. How about the Giants is Manning the future still or are they thinking of doing something with him. He had a rough year this year.

Ohm
  (2:09 PM)

Sorry TJ... gotta give me time to come up for air from the Giants end of season. I got to write a five-part series on what went wrong and I haven't even started on that yet because I am chatting with you guys, my boys. As for Manning, yes, still the franchise QB.

Ryan (Germantown, MD)

Why are people acting like the Giants finished 8-8?

Ohm
  (2:10 PM)

Because of the way it ended vs Eagles and Pack. I get it... I did predict them to go 10-6 back in April when schedule came out. But I had them in the playoffs at 10-6. But you know... when they were 6-2 or whatever it was, everybody in here had them going to the Super Bowl and everybody was screaming at me for not believing in the hype. So it works both ways. I get it.

Jon (NYC)

What frustrates me so much about this year, is that the Giants had so much potential to make a run at the Superbowl this year. Top 5 offense and defense. I think one or two moves and fix the turnovers, this team could be a Superbowl contender next year.

Ohm
  (2:11 PM)

Jon... I think that is what managment and ownership is thinking or hoping.

Mike (FL)

Ohm, the past two seasons have taken 7 years off of my life. Not sure if i can take the stress that this team puts on me with games not being safe with a 21- point lead in the fourth quarter and all. Who do the Giants have a good shot at acquiring to spark the team and will i be breaking chairs again next season (playoff spot or consistent team would prevent that)?

Ohm
  (2:13 PM)

Mike... put down the chair and step away... LOL! Well, I don't see the Giants getting some super offensive weapon but you never know. I think they will make some changes... but could be similar to last year, 10-11 wins. And I think you'd take that.

Brad (NJ)

GMen fan here. Want to defend Gilbride to counter all of the negative comments. This team was top 5 in offense. Who exactly would the Giants replace Gilbride with? An OC whose team scored fewer points than the Giants. Fans always think the grasser is greener on the other side, but I think this team was close to being great this year, and I think, generally, bringing back the same core players and the coaching staff and taking another run at it next year is the right move.

There you go... I said I'd post your comments here... LOL.

Ohm, I think the loss of Steve Smith killed the Giants more than is being talked about. I keep thinking to the Eagles game, when they couldn't make a first down to keep milking clock - there was a 3rd down that Nicks didn't break his route. Smith ALWAYS made those plays.

Jon... word. Nicks could have used him.

Years when Giants play the Jets, even as the away team, isn't it a bit of an adavantage to them not actually being on the road? (Reverse would also be true for NYJ when they play NYG as an away team) And I still think NYJ are more hype then talent thanks to their coach.

Looks like more of a comment than question so I will leave it there for you ASN.

Understanding that this is football and not soccer and that there is always going to be injuries it seems like the last two seasons the Giants have had either tremendously bad luck or an underlying issue. I forget what team it was (maybe the mets) but they kept having injury issues and fired their stength and conditioning coach. Not saying the Giants need to do that, but could it be a reason for all the injuries or do we chalk it up to bad luck?

I don't think they are similar. The Mets staff was taking dudes with concussions on flights with them and what not. I think the Giants have had bad luck.

Thanks Ohm, Manning, definitely the franchinse qb. Our team got killed this year by special teams, turnovers, and BIG PLAYS. We have not had a free safety or a lock down corner that has truly stepped up big time since really Seahorn. Fumbles and dropped passes can be worked on, but we are weak at the free safety, corner, and linebacker positions, which of those positions would you say is a priority this offseason and why?
