Is there any way that one of the coaches who were interviewed by Denver would be brought in as a defensive coordinator? perhaps John Fox or Perry Fewell? I think Dennison would be a great hire. The biggest thing that would help Tebow would be to get the signature zone-blocking running game back. Dennison knows it well and a good running game would keep the team in games.
I'd doubt it. I think those guys both want to be head coaches. So, I'd doubt it.
If Denver switches back to zone blocking (if say, Dennison becomes HC), who on the o-line other than Clady is a lock to start?
Dennison loves Kuper.
As a Lions fan... I have dreams about both Champ Bailey and Nnamdi Asomugha headed to Detroit. Champ as SS to play opposite Louis Delmas and Nnamdi to lockdown one side of the field. Please give me a % on this happening... please!
It's not high. Champ wants to be a corner still. He'll move to safety down the road. I don't see any team being able to get both Asomugha and Bailey.
You are writing Dennison off because of his lack of a Defensive mind. I'm sure that you remember that he played Linebacker in the NFL.
Didn't say his lack of defenive mind. I said he been coahcing offense. He has not specialzied in defense as a coach.
Bill - Where do you see Kyle Orton landing for 2011? Can't imagine that Denver will have a back-up making $9 million??!! It would be nice to see him packaged and allow the Broncos to move their 2nd round pick up a Baker's Dozen or more spots into at least a late first rounder. What do you think about that?
Good fits could include Minnesota, San Francisco and Arizona.
Hey Bill, which of these 3 are most likely to leave the Raiders. Asomugha, Seymour or Miller? Please don't say Asomugha!
I think the msot likley to leave are Gallery, Bush and Huff.
Do you think the Broncos are completely done looking at candidates, or would someone like Mularky or Capers get a look after this weekend?
They are deciding that now. I wouldn't be surprised if they choose from one of the five candidates they have talked to.
who would really want the Raiders job?
What are the chances marc Trestman returns to Oakland to be OC
Five percent. I think it's Jackson.
Is there any chance San Diego goes after a high profile def. coordinator?
There's been talk of Dave Wannstedt. But they, so far, have focused on San Francisco DC Greg Manusky and in-house candidates Steve Wilks and John Pagano.
Do you think the Broncos will needat least 2 CBs before next year? I think Champ is a goner after being jacked by management and not wanting to be part of a long term rebuild. And Parish Cox needs to be replaced, no? Oh, and Goodman is getting awfully long in tooth...
yes, CB wil be a priority in Denver. There is a possibility Denver takes LSU's Patrick Peterson with the No. 2 pick.
2nd reminder about the Dungy question I sent in. You said to remind you multiple times
Rcihard, I think you wanted to ask a question about Dungy ending up in Denver?I so, I don't think it's a fit because he'd be too expensive and if he went back to coaching, it would be in a perfect situation. Denver has a lot of work to do. I don't think it would be perfect for Dungy
could Rob Ryan land in SD as DC?
He's a 3-4 guy, so maybe. But I think the Chargers may go in another direction.
Do you think the chances of Denver drafting Patrick Peterson are greater if they lose Champ Bailey?
Who is the best candidate for San Diego and will the defense improve?
I think they are excited about Manusky.
Hey Bill, You said Dennison was a long-shot for the Denver job.. Why do you think that? Most in the area see him as the favorite. Any insight is much appreciated....
Dennison could be the guy, but there are questions. He is a run specialist. Denver needs someone to develop Tim Tebow. The Broncos also have been big problems on defense and he has been coaching offense. The Broncos want head-coaching experience and he doesn't have that. I'm not saying Dennison would be a bad poick, but there some questions. But if the Broncos are looking for a familiar face, Dennison is their man. He is a former Denver player and coach.
Do you expect the Raiders to be players for Plax when he comes back? Could be that posession WR they lack (unless Schilens could ever stay healthy).
I think the Burress ship has sailed in Oakland. The Raiders need to get someone who has been playing the past few years.
Bowers or Fairley a better fit for the Broncos D? Or who is the better player and just scrap the schem and start over?
I'd go with Fairley. He is a star. He would change that defense. If Carolina doens't take him, Denver needs to grab Fairley.
Please explain why with Xanders doing the GM job for he 1st time, Elway running Football Operations for the 1st time would you hire a HC with no HC expierence anywhere?
Great question, John, great question.
Which Denver candidate will be willing to work with Tebow?
I think Koetter and Fox. Fox is a defensive guy, but he has said prior to the draft that he liked Tebow.
Odds that the Broncos switch back to a 4-3 next year?
Completely depends on new DC.
Would KC still consider a DL in the draft after using high picks on Jackson and Dorsey recently?
I could see it. The unit could use another pass rusher.
Broncos HAVE to draft a DL with the #2 right? I'm tired of these reclamation projects and FAs that never live up to hype (Bannan, Fields, etc.)
That is the first the area Denver needs to look at, yes.
Can you picture Gallery in Orange and Blue?
If Dennison is the guy they will back to the zone-blocking scheme, so it's possible.
Can you please tell me why everyone thinks the Raiders will hire Hue Jackson? Will there be anyone else in the mix that Al will seriously look at or is this a forgone conclusion?
It's the most logical choice. He did a good job as OC and Davis is said to really like Jackson. IF Jackson is not the guy, you would have to question the direction of this franchsie again.
If the Raiders Lose Bush, will they sign someone like B. Jacobs or Ricky Williams to be McFaddens back up?
Or maybe draft a youngster.
What are the Chargers' biggest needs? And how will and should they address these needs to make them Superbowl contenders?
I think they need a big-time pass rusher. This defense is good, but they need a difference maker on this defense.
is it realistic to expect a 2nd round pick for Orton? Most teams that will be after him know the broncos don't want him anymore since it's clearly tebow time in the mile high city??
I think a second-round pick is fair for Orton.
Hey Bill, So if Asomugha leaves will Oakland get a draft pick? If so any idea what round?
They'd get a comp pick (very likely at the end of the third round) in the 2012 draft, not 2011. It's not worth losing Nnamdi.
Do you think Cro will have to eat crow this weekend?
I expect it.
If not as head coach, what about Denver targeting Jim Fassel as a corrdinator?
That would be the more likley scenario, I'd think.
So your thought is that once Hue Jackson is promoted to head coach he will retain offensive playcalling duties?
I don't see why not. Why mess with a good thing?
Wannstedt has been coaching in college last six years and ran the 4-3 at Dallas & Miami. Bolts like Manusky's intensity, knowledge and familiarity. He's the most likely candidate. Agree?
Yes sir, I do.
Who do you think the Chiefs will hire at OC? I think McDaniels would be a perfect fit if it wasn't for his fight with haley and him not being able create a good rushing attack. But if he were to come, he loves Cassel and I think our passing game would be great (look what he did with orten)
I don't see the McD-Haley marriage. Don't be shocked if McDaniels ends up in Missouri ... with the Rams.
What is Clark waiting for? Wheres my long-term deal?
It's been quiet on the Hali front, but I fully expect him back in Kansas City. Pioli is smart. He knows how important Haili is to that team.
Do you see the chargers placing the franchise tag on jackson? If not where does he end up?
I think that is the direction this thing is going right now, yes.
Do you think the Chiefs could acquire Steve Smith(Panthers), Ochocinc,o or Moss for the Wide-receiver position? Nnamdi or Bailey for the corner position, because that would pretty much shut down the opponents passing game right?
I think the Chiefs are more likely to sign a WR than a CB. of the three you mentioned, I'd say Smith would be the best fit.
What's your gut feeling on what the Chiefs will do with the offensive coordinator position?
Right now, the talk is centered around Dnever OC Mike McCoy.
Doesn't Denver have to draft Fairley if he is there ar #2?
Unless the Broncos trade down to compile picks. Denver has just six picks, but it does have three in the top 50 picks or so. So, if they traded down, they could have five or six picks in the first thrree rounds. That could be appealing.
What are the chances of keeping the following players for the chargers: Floyd, Burnett, Sproles, Weddle and Barnes?
I think Sproles is the most likley to go of that group. He may be difficult to keep.
Great hour folks. Enjoy the playoffs. Talk to you next week.
