Hey guys! Wud up?

Chris (NY)

What do you see the giants doing with the Giants first round pick?

Ohm
  (1:36 PM)

I am having technical difficulties... hang on

I am having technical difficulties... hang on

Ohm
  (1:36 PM)

Chris, a bit early but here's my guess. I think the Giants will lean toward best talent available if the guy they truly want or need is not there like last year when they needed a middle linebacker but went for JPP. They can use an offensive lineman, a cornerback, a linebacker and in my opinion, another running back, but not necessarily a first-round running back. Depending on who comes out and what is available, Giants could go OL, CB or LB there.

Ohm
  (1:37 PM)

sorry, for some reason my answer was not posting... I think we are back up.

Rachel (Hattiesburg)

Hi Ohm! Why will the Jets win on Sunday? I really want them to win and I want you to tell me why they will. Also, your thoughts on the rumor that the Steelers are givin their Superbowls and are about to be givin another. Thanks!

Ohm
  (1:40 PM)

Hi Rachel. Ok, here is why I think the Jets can win. I think the Jets defense can find a way to slow down Rashard Mendenhall and with their corners, find a way to slow down Big Ben and Wallace and Hines. The key will be what the Jets offense can do vs Steelers' defense. This is definitely a much stiffer challenge for Sanchez and the offense. The Jets will have difficulty running vs the Steelers, who allow just 62 yards rushing a game. But if Schotty calls a good game and Sanchez doesn't turn the ball over and get the ball to Santonio and Braylon, Jets can win. Just hope it doesn't come down to the kicking game because kicking in that stadium is very tough. As for the Steelers being given their Super Bowls, I don't agree with that. I think they have earned their SB's. They are a very good organization, one of the best ever in the NFL.

Pete (MI)

Let me get this straight, after all this talk about Rex, it's Brady that's getting his foot screwed?

Ohm
  (1:41 PM)

Pete... LOL. Yes, can you imagine what would have happened if Brady's foot was an issue the week leading up to the game?

Dan (MI)

Sparty sucks.

Ohm
  (1:41 PM)

Still better than Michigan.

Chris (NY)

Why feet?!? I don't get it. At all. That's like the worst part.

Ohm
  (1:42 PM)

Not to some. LOL. I don't personally get it but hey, I'm not judging.

Wes (NY)

Are you afraid to wear sandals while you interview Rex Ryan, now?

Ohm
  (1:43 PM)

Wes, nah, I love Rex, his press conferences are always entertaining.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Will the New York Jets advance to their first Super Bowl in 42 Years by beating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday?

Ohm
  (1:43 PM)

My prediction is yes. Just because I want to see what Super Bowl week would be like with this team. Could be the most entertaining one yet.

Michael (Brooklyn, NY)

What upgrades will the giants make to their team throughout the off-season (the draft and free agency). Is there any word yet on how the Giants might address some of their biggest holes like Linebacker and in the return game?

Ohm
  (1:45 PM)

Hey Michael, a lot depends on what happens with the CBA and potential lockout. The Giants said they don't really know how to move forward without knowing what they are dealing with as far as the CBA. But I think they could try to upgrade linebacker through draft and with a veteran. Return game -- I think Hixon will be back if his knee is fully recovered. I would love to see them draft a speedster who can help return as well. A playmaker, perhaps for the secondary who can return too.

wesley (Maryland)

Here's a Carmelo question. With the Nets out, I keep seeing reports of a team (Houston, Dallas) that would take a rental on Melo. How could a rental package offered by Dallas or Houston or anyone top a package offer by the Knicks? Unless Walsh is realing low-balling. Almost seems as if the Nuggets will deal hiim anywhere but New york.

Ohm
  (1:47 PM)

Wesley... first off, there could be a lot that happens the closer we get to the trading deadline. Second, if you are the Knicks, why offer the farm when Melo, if it is true and I believe it, wants to play for NY. Let somebody else trade a bunch for Melo and then let Melo sign with the Knicks in the offseason while being able to hold onto some assets. If I am Donnie Walsh, I will talk to the Nugs and try to get Melo but not give up a ton. At this point, why not wait until the offseason, get Melo and sign him long-term.

Andiamo (NY)

Not a question, just a comment: Rolle's general, blanketed, and vague statements about TC are about as helpful to this team as Darius Reynaud is. His play on the field could be much improved too.

Ohm
  (1:48 PM)

Andi... my man... this is my take on Rolle's comments. I don't think Rolle is a cancer nor is he trying to stir things up. I know players in the locker room like the dude. I just think this is his way of trying to improve the team, by saying that if Coughlin lets the guys have a bit of fun, and not worry so much about them not doing the right thing or being as uptight, the Giants will play better. I don't think he is trying to blast Tom or be a cancer at all. I think he is just making his honest suggestion of what he thinks can make the team better. That is my take.

Jay (CT)

What do you think the chances are of the Giants getting Chad Greenway and/or Nnamdi Asomugha?

Ohm
  (1:50 PM)

Jay... I wish I could give you a decent answer right now but with the CBA not done, no way to know. How much money can the Giants throw at a free agent if they don't know what they are working with? I'd love to see Asomugha with the Giants. That would be terrific. But some team is going to throw mad bucks at him.

Andrew (New Jersey)

Should we be worried about Phillips and Rolle's comments? and would bringing back Burress be a good thing?

Ohm
  (1:51 PM)

Andrew, see my comment below to Andiamo about Antrel. I don't think it is a major deal, personally. I think Rolle is just trying to make the situation better but he inflamed it by saying he is not having any fun and that Coughlin can loosen up. But in the long run, I think it will all be fine.

Matt (Indiana)

Ohm, love your work....Back me up...Only 4 QB's in the league threw for at least 4,000 yards and 30 TD's. Their names are Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning and...ELI MANNING. Now, I understand that his 25 INTs were awful and the Giants didn't make the playoffs, but I keep reading people saying he isn't that good and it's his fault they didn't make the playoffs. Are people crazy? He puts up those numbers (minus the 25 picks) with injured and "off the street" receivers and people want to point the finger at him? This is a quarterback league and he is one of the main reasons why the Giants can be looked at as contenders....agree? (and let me add that I think Eli looked uncomfortable most of the year. In particular, when his receivers started going down. I'm anxious to see what he'll look like next year with (hopefully) a healthy group to throw to)

Ohm
  (1:55 PM)

Thanks dude. Well, I wrote two stories about this a few weeks ago... one examining his interceptions and how he says he can turn it around and another on Toomer saying Eli never looked comfortable and he took a step "sideways" this year. It's on ESPN-NewYork. Eli probably gets a B- this year. I will be blogging my positional grades soon once Jets are out. But you are right, the stats look great minus the INTs. And if he throws 5 INTs less, they may have one more win and he may have a few hundred more yards and maybe another TD or two. But bottom line is wins vs losses. And that is what Eli should be judged on just like how his Super Bowl victory should matter as much as some detractors like to say it as all the defense that year. Bottom line, Eli had too many interceptions and he missed the playoffs. Did it have something to do with the O-line using six different starting combos and 5 of his receivers going on IR, absolutely. But he still has to get those INTs down.

Otto (NJ)

Ohm, whats good? I know the Gmen choked in the end ( numerous games I can count) but i feel good about this team going into next year. Teams like Seattle, NO are in a bit of trouble more than the GMen in my view. First thing, GMen need to emphasize holding on to the ball at all costs. How they do it is another story. Second, will the GMen resign BShaw and what will they do with Jacobs? Oline needs to get younger and stronger plus not having a big play LB definitely hurt them especially on play action. Would you also try to sign a shut down corner as Nmandi? Your thoughts?

Ohm
  (1:58 PM)

Otto, wud up? I think the Giants will try to re-sign Bradshaw but not at a high price. As for Jacobs, I'd like to see what they do in the draft first. If they take a RB, then I can see Jacobs potentially not coming back due to his contract. I think the Giants will try to add another offensive lineman in draft and address LB through draft and free agency. I would definitely try to sign Nnamdi but we just don't know how much Giants can throw at him.

Andrew (NY)

Hey Ohm-boy, do you think all the Rolle stuff could lead to a trade or do you see Coughlin reverting to the semi-easy going coach of 2007? It's not like Rolle did all that great in his first season with us!

Ohm
  (1:59 PM)

Hey Andrew... read my answer earlier to Andiamo... I think Rolle will be back. And I think Coughlin remains the same. He already lightened up back in 2007.

Richard (Lubbock,Tx)

Every time I hear people talk about Sanchez around here all they are saying is that they are not impressed with him as a quarterback because he is not putting up the big numbers or doesn't look that impressive as a thrower, Everytime that he has been in the playoffs he has gone to the championship game and only one other qb has done that who plays for Pittsburg how do you feel about him as a qb?

Ohm
  (2:01 PM)

Rich... bottom line, Mark wins games. He may not throw for four TDs and 400 yards, but he wins. Does he have a great defense? Yes. But he gets the job done and he has been clutch when the team needs him to be. But with all that said, the pressure is on his shoulders. This team is built to win and on Sunday in Pitt, Mark will have to make all the plays. I don't think the Jets will be able to run. Mark is going to have to do well against Pitt's blitz. But even if he doesn't and falls short, it's nothing to be ashamed about. Sanchez has lived up and exceeded expectations in my mind in just his second year. I think any Jets fan would sign up for two AFC title games in his first two years.

jcalafiore (VA)

Hey Ohm, I'm early. Any word on Tom Quinn getting fired soon? He is probably the worst Special Teams coach in the league...

Ohm
  (2:02 PM)

Hey J... TC said he's keeping the staff intact. So looks like he is coming back barring a change of heart.

Ryan (NY)

Hiya Ohm,How confident are you in Nick Folk making a important kick this weekend?

Ohm
  (2:03 PM)

Ryan... not so confident. Know he made the kick in Indy indoors but in Pittsburgh with SB on the line... in such a tough place to kick... I'm a bit worried if it comes down to him.

Ed Hochuli (NY)

Ohm, do you think that i could play linebacker for the Giants ?

Ohm
  (2:03 PM)

With those guns... hell yeah! LOL.

eli (ny)

gang green !!

Ohm
  (2:04 PM)

Huge, huge game. Can't wait.

Tucker (Stamford)

What's the story with J. Linval? For a high draft pick, he really didn't give them much this year!

Ohm
  (2:04 PM)

Linval was stuck in a numbers game... Cofield and Canty and Bernard were good this season and healthy and Perry Fewell used a lot of defensive ends. Linval should get more PT this coming year.

Ohm
  (2:05 PM)

Guys, I HATE to cut this short but they just called us to go to Rex presser. I will try to take some of the questions in here and answer in my Giants blog soon. So check it out, OK? Thanks guys! Have a great weekend!
