Chat with Bill WIlliamson

Bill Williamson
  (2:01 PM)

Hi everyone, let's get rolling.

Jesse (Costa Rica)

Bill, What are the chances Raiders move to L.A. ??

Bill Williamson
  (2:03 PM)

I guess it's always possible as long as L.A. doesn't have a team and as long as the Raiders need a new stadium in Oakland. So you never know. Did we ever think the Raiders would return to Oakland in 95?

Patrick (Pittsburgh)

Bill Muir - good fit for the OC in KC?

Bill Williamson
  (2:04 PM)

I've been trying to figure that out for the past 45 minutes. I hear good things. But this will be Todd Haley's team. The offense runs through him.

Kremz (Chicago)

Elway is just trying to maximize Orton's perceived value to the Broncos to get the highest possible pick, yes? Please, yes?

Bill Williamson
  (2:05 PM)

That's kind of what I think. I wouldn't get too excited over Elway's comments Wednesday that Orton is still in the mix. The team is not going to say otherwise right now.

James (Syracuse, NY)

Hi Bill,The Raiders just hired back Chuck Bresnahan as a "defensive coach." Does this mean he will be the defensive coordinator if a better replacement isn't found, or are they going to have him coach the linebackers and are delaying the announcement for another reason?

Bill Williamson
  (2:08 PM)

The general feel is that Oakland will make Bresnahan the DC (he was Oakland's DC early last decade)if they can't find another good fit. If Oakland does hire someone, Bresnahan will likely be the LB coach.

Terry Duncan (florence,oregon)

Howdy Bill, awesome job. What do you think the odds are that carolina passes on Fairley? Do you see denver grabbing him,or even better trade orton and our first, for carolinas #1,think about it,he reminds me alot of Suh.Thanks for your time.

Bill Williamson
  (2:09 PM)

I think Carolian will take Fairley if they don't reach for a QB or if they trade the pick.

Zack LaGoy (Oneida, New York)

I wanna see albert haynesworth, Mark Ingram, and Patrick Peterson on Denver Possible?

Bill Williamson
  (2:11 PM)

I think this is the order of that possibliby happening: Peterson, Haynesworth, Ingram.

Jeremy (Little Rock AR)

with all the upcomming changes in Denver how competitive do you think they will be next year and is a draft like the chiefes had last year a far fetched idea for the Broncos this year

Bill Williamson
  (2:12 PM)

It would have to make huge improvements on defense for that to happen.

Clifford (Mission, BC)

Denver drafts Fairley with 2nd pick, trades for Haynesworth, and we get Dumervil back....Wouldn't that be a major upgrade front four if that were to happen. Dumervil, Fairley, Haynesworth & Ayers.

Bill Williamson
  (2:13 PM)

Yes, it would be a tad better than last year's D-line .... By leaps and bounds.

Justin (New Braunfels TX)

Read all your stuff Bill, thanks for everything: Do you think if the Raiders lost Asomugha/Bush/Miller/Gallery (hope to god they don't) they could still be a contender in the AFC West this next season?

Bill Williamson
  (2:14 PM)

Thanks, Justin .. That would be a lot to lose. I don't Al Davis would allow that type of exodus to happen. If it did, Oakland would have some money to replace thsoe guys, anyway.

Patrick (Pittsburgh)

B-Dub, my wife won't let me grow my beard out like Brett Keisel. How can I convince her otherwise?

Bill Williamson
  (2:15 PM)

Don't show her a picture of Keisel.

Trevor (NY)

What do you think Rod Smith's chances are of making the hall of fame when he is eligable?

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

Reciever is one of the toughest positions ever to get in. His reputation, his two Super Bowl rings and his rise from being an undrafted free agent will help his cause, but it will be a long, tough battle.

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

Reciever is one of the toughest positions ever to get in. His reputation, his two Super Bowl rings and his rise from being an undrafted free agent will help his cause, but it will be a long, tough battle.

Frankie (Fort Collins, CO)

What are the odds of Denver trading down? I heard this is a relatively weak draft. What do you think?

Bill Williamson
  (2:19 PM)

The No. 2 pick hasn't been traded since 2000. Also, I think this draft is shaping up to be better than it was originally thought to be.

Frankie (Fort Collins, CO)

Any chance Denver slaps the franchise tag on Champ Bailey?

Bill Williamson
  (2:20 PM)

It will be more expensive than the average deal he'd sign for. He has awready joked he'd glady accpet the franchise tag.

Trevor (NY)

If carolina takes Nick Fairly, is there any chance Denver takes Patrick Peterson and still tries to keep Bailey?

Bill Williamson
  (2:21 PM)

The Bailey decision will have to be made long before the draft. I could see Peterson and Bailey in Denver together for the few years. But if Fairley is on the board and Bailey is on the team, the need at DT would be much greater.

Patrick (Pittsburgh)

B-Dub, good luck with that. Notice where I live?

Bill Williamson
  (2:23 PM)

Yeha, you're in trouble.

mark (PA)

Bill, Your prediction for Sunday? And why? MVP?

Bill Williamson
  (2:25 PM)

I think Pittsburgh will win. Just an experience thing. I really think it will be a terrific (maybe even great) game. Just a guess: Troy P. for MVP. Defnese doesn't always win this thing, but when in doubt go with the baddest man on the field.

jose (Kansas city)

do yoy believe jamal charles is,one,of the best running back the league has seen?

Bill Williamson
  (2:25 PM)

He's nice, but time will tell how good he'll become. I worry about his durability.

Cody (Utah)

Do you see a CBA being agreed upon before March 3rd?

Bill Williamson
  (2:26 PM)

Call me naive or an optimist, but I do expect a deal to get done. It could extend a week or so, but I don't expect a long lockout.

Chris (Warrensburg, MO)

Do you think Matt Cassel will make bigger strides this year than he did last year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:27 PM)

That is now all on Todd Haley and Bill Muir.

Caleb (Denver)

When do you think Shannon sharp gets in the HOF? He should get in before Rod Smith.

Bill Williamson
  (2:28 PM)

I think Sharpe gets in within the next three tries. I could see him going in Saturday.

S (Denver)

I really like Von Miller in the Senior Bowl, any chances he ends up in the AFC West?

Bill Williamson
  (2:32 PM)

I could maybe see Denver trade down for him or SD trade up for him.

Frankie (Fort Collins, CO)

Do you think Josh McD deserved to be fired? I mean I understand he had horrible personnel decisions, but isn't it Pat Bowlen's fault for giving a 32 year old head coach all the power? I mean c'mon, I liked the guy

Bill Williamson
  (2:34 PM)

Yes, it was Bowlen's fault for giving him all the power, but what was Bowlen suppsoed to do after McD proved to be a failure? Keep him just not to admit a mistake? Hiring him was the wrong call. Firing him was the right call.

Cody (North Dakota)

Hey Bill, I think the fact that the Broncos are not ready to say Tebow is the starter is great news. I think Orton gives us the best chance right now for success. Agree?

Bill Williamson
  (2:35 PM)

Yes, I agree, but I think this team is starting over and giving Tebow the chance now to prove whether he can be the long-term answer is the right call.

Brock (Columbia, MO)

What do you think the chances are of Kansas City pursuing a wide reciever through free agency since Julio Jones is expected to be drafted earlier?

Bill Williamson
  (2:36 PM)

I think it will be a real possibility, yes.

Balls (SD)

Bill squared, looking for an experts opinion. The comment section is loaded with a Sharpe vs. Gonzalez debate. Whose better?

Bill Williamson
  (2:37 PM)

How can Gonzo's numbers be agrued against?

Eric (CA)

Bill, do you think the Raiders are waiting for either Perry or Moss from GB to decide on their new DC? Either would be a great addition...

Bill Williamson
  (2:38 PM)

And both want to be a DC. I wouldn't be shock if the Raiders to ask to talk to one or both of them.

Omar (London, ON )

Hey Bill, I may be a bit early with this question but what position do you think the Chargers target with their first round pick? Are they looking for a DE, Tackle (presumably RT) or a OLB?

Bill Williamson
  (2:41 PM)

Yes, those are the areas along with maybe receiver, depending on what happens in free agency.

Bubba (Phoenix)

After seeing virtually every college QB fall off of Mel Kiper's Big Board, I can't imagine any team reaching for one of these guys, do you? I mean they are robotic at best - made of mechanical parts. It's hard to see a franchise QB emerging from that collection of dead corpses.

Bill Williamson
  (2:42 PM)

Teams always reach for QBs. The only one I could see moving all the way up to No. 1 is the Missouri kid.

AJ (Denver)

Does the fact that John Fox is the HC make Orton's future a little less clear? The guy is loyal to veterans and after the year he had in Carolina do you really think he wants his tenure in Denver to start with Tebow and Brady Quinn?

Bill Williamson
  (2:43 PM)

I thnk you are right there. Fox likes veterans and that helps Orton's chances in Denver.

Robbie (DC)

Chad 85 or Plaxico? Which is easier or a better possibility to Oaktown?

Bill Williamson
  (2:43 PM)

85 ... eaiser and better.

Larry (Pasco, WA)

You posted on your blog about P Rivers trading places with Big Ben. In your opinion which player is asked to do more for his team?

Bill Williamson
  (2:44 PM)

I think it's Rivers. It all starts with him? What do you folks think?

Clint (Boston, MA)

With how bad the weather's been in Dallas this week and the upcoming Superbowl in New Jersey, what are the chances that Denver and other cities will get the opportunity to host?

Bill Williamson
  (2:45 PM)

It may hurt. I know a lot of people who wnat the SB curcuit to be San Diego, New Orleans, Miami, Tampa

Frankie (Fort Collins, CO)

Any chance Eddie Royal becomes what he was his rookie year? I see the talent, just not enough opportunity it seems. He seems like a Wes Welker kind of guy.

Bill Williamson
  (2:46 PM)

He showed signs in 2010. I think he can a solid player.

Hootie (San Diego, Ca)

If SD fixes special teams, is there any way they can not win the west next year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:49 PM)

It was the only think that kept the Chargers from winning it last year.

Darren Mcfadden (Oakland )

Will I make my first Pro Bowl next year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:49 PM)

Yes, I like your chances.

Tom Will (FTL)

Mr. Williamson, if Bush gets over paid and leaves, Le'ron McClain?

Bill Williamson
  (2:51 PM)

He only had 28 carires last year. He's a big grinder, but they have Reece. I think there will be options in the draft.

Frankie (Fort Collins, CO)

Who's hair would you rather have. Matthews or Polamalus?

Bill Williamson
  (2:52 PM)

I'm good with my own 'do.

Derrick (CA Rams Fan)

No one cares about the AFC West. ( ;

Bill Williamson
  (2:53 PM)

All of these fine people.

Justin (Grand Junction)

Denver seems to have a bit of depth at WR. Any chance B. Lloyd gets traded?

Bill Williamson
  (2:53 PM)

Now, Lloyd is Denver's top reciever now. He has to be kept.

Jeremy (San Diego)

Who do you think will be Oaklands leading receiver next year? Jacoby Ford, Chaz Shillens (if healthy all year), Zach Miller or Ochocinco?

Bill Williamson
  (2:54 PM)

Ford or Miller.

Hootie (San Diego, Ca)

Should the Chargers draft for middle defense or target DE, in your opinion?

Bill Williamson
  (2:54 PM)

I think a dominant end would be ideal.

Zack (Los Angeles,CA)

Is the NFL really coming back to LA, or is it all just so much political manuevering?

Bill Williamson
  (2:56 PM)

We've bene hearing about it for 15 years, right?

shanard ((slc,ut))

Bill, could the chiefs bring in ocho cinco, on the other side of bowe they clearly need a another threat, or i believe they would of had a chance in the playoffs against the ravens.

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

I don't see 85 and Haley having a lot of fun together.

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

By the way, it seems like many of you think Rivers does more for his offense than Big Ben.

Justin (Grand Junction)

If Washington and Houston were both willing to trade for Elvis, who would be a better fit? Albert Hansworth, or Mario Williams?

Bill Williamson
  (2:58 PM)

Williams is the younger, better player.

Scott (Northglenn, CO)

Better chance of leaving: Tamab Hali or Aso?

Bill Williamson
  (2:59 PM)

Nnamdi because the Chiefs can franchise Hali. Raiders can't franchise Nnamdi.

Farzin (Gainesville)

How will a possible lockout affect the Denver QB situation?

Bill Williamson
  (3:00 PM)

It would keep Tebow away from his coaches and that would cost him a lot of time.

Bill Williamson
  (3:00 PM)

Great hour, folks. Enjoy the Super Bowl. Talk to you next week.
