Chat with Pierre LeBrun

Pierre LeBrun
  (3:57 PM)

Good day all. Greetings from snow-covered Toronto where I've already revved up the snowblower once this morning and will have to do so again after this chat !

Earl Duplassie (Victoria, BC)

Hi Pierre, hope you enjoyed your visit to the West Coast. When you were in Vancouver and around the Canucks for a while, did you get a sense that this team is really together and not only saying but doing the right things...like staying on even keels during up and down times during the season, etc? I've been a Canucks fan all my life but I don't think I've ever seen more depth and chemistry at the same time.

Pierre LeBrun
  (3:58 PM)

Thanks, very much enjoyed my trip to Vancouver. Yes to a man all the Canucks players I spoke with talked about that even keel. It starts with the Sedins who have influence the room that way. AV has also been huge in that regard. They've got a good thing going.

Ryan (DC)

Who could the Caps pick up at 2nd line Center? Is Mike Fisher a possibility?

Pierre LeBrun
  (3:59 PM)

Mike Fisher could potentially be dealt by Ottawa, yes, although that's not a certainty. The Sens won't give him away since he's got term left on his deal.As pure rental player would be Tim Connolly. No clue who GM GM is eying but Connolly is UFA after the season and the Sabres might peddle him

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

What did you think of the 2011 NHL All-Star Game in Raleigh? What is the worst NHL All-Star Game that you have ever seen?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:01 PM)

As a weekend, the folks in Raleigh did a tremendous job. Best buzz I've seen at a non-Canadian all-star game in a long time. The game itself was tough to watch just like all all-star games are. No defense, no hitting, etc...

David (Denver)

I wondered what you thought of the Staal/Prust play at the end of the second period last night. It was very clear to me that Prust started the whole thing by blatantly cross-checking Kennedy, so why didn't he get penalized? To boot Staal out of the game while Prust gets away with it seems pretty ludicrous to me. And why a match penalty? Isn't the correct call there "just" a major and game misconduct?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:04 PM)

Boys being boys. The play didn't bother me either way.

Michael, Potsdam, NY [via mobile]

Good win by the Bruins last night against the Canes. What do you see the Bruins doing about the situation with Marc Savard?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:04 PM)

Last I heard Savard was going to undergo more tests today. Still no word

Shea Weber (Nashville, TN)

Pierre, remember when I shot the puck THROUGH the net at the Olympics? That was awesome.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:05 PM)

Ya man, I was there :)

Jordan Staal (Pittsburgh, PA)

Pierre, you fielded a similar question last week from Tim Gleason...but why was I given a major/match penalty and kicked out of the game last night for punching Prust in a scrum? He clearly initiated contact by first running Tyler Kennedy and then elbowing me right in the face. Indeed I did punch him with my glove on, but that can hardly be considered a cheap shot or intent to injure when he was confronting me. Should this have been 2 minutes for roughing? Yes. Five and a game? No.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:05 PM)

Don't know why.

Jesse S. (Carmel, NY)

Pierre, let's pretend you were awake for the whole thing for a second, but what do you think was the most impressive feat of All-Star weekend.......the overall positive reception for the fantasy draft, Chara new hardest shot record, D. Sedin 4/4 on the targets, Lidstrom +7 in the game (even though his name was not mentioned once on TV leading many to seriously wonder if he was even playing), Jeff Skinner's female following? For me it was Toews gunning all four targets in under 6 seconds to win the team relay....not easy to do.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:06 PM)

zzzzzzzzzzzz. Oh sorry, hi Jesse.Favorite part was the draft on Friday night. And into to Sunday's game with the kids on the ice and Francis/Brind'Amour joining them. Cute.Other than that... zzzzzzzzz

Toronto Fans (Seventh Circle)

Pierre, great showing by our lone all-star representative Phil Kessel, eh? High fantasy draft pick, seemed generally enthused to be there, true standout performance in the game....did he even take a shift? But don't worry, Burke would do that all-star selection over again in a second.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:06 PM)

Ouch

Carrie Underwood (Nashville, TN)

Pierre, I am no expert, but I think Ottawa should be sellers at the trade deadline and #12 really looks like he needs a change of scenery. I hear he is a nice guy....and handsome. I think my hometown Predators might be able to find a spot for a guy like that. If you can help make that happen I will send you an autographed CD :) Plus I am sick and tired of flying to freezing Canada for games.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:07 PM)

Carrie, thanks for joining us during your busy schedule. And I totally agree Fisher in Nashville would be a great fit :)

Patrick Kane (Chicago, IL)

Pierre, please let sportsnation know that I didn't miss my plane to the all-star game because I was out late and overslept. In fact I was up in plenty of time, took a shower, watered the plants, fed the fish, checked the daily stock reports and read the Wall Street Journal. The real story is that the cab driver I called to take me to the airport just didn't show up. Do you have any idea why that could be?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:08 PM)

Um.... Toews and Sharp threw you under the bus to me over the weekend so you're not selling that to me my friend

Ted (Wilmington)

Hi Pierre,With Stamkos a RFA this offseason, any chance perhaps that a another team tenders him an offer sheet? Obviously he would be costly in terms of draft choices, if TB were not to match, but as far as RFA's go, he would be worth it, no? Thanks.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:08 PM)

Ted, Stamkos' agent Don Meehan and Lightning GM Steve Yzerman have already held a few contract meetings. I'd be shocked if Stamkos got to July 1

Brian C. (Fairfax, VA)

What do you think will happen with the Sabres front office with Pegula moving in? What's your opinion about regier taking an extension in the fall, and Sabres not reporting it until recently. Lindy declined an extension, opinions on that as well.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:12 PM)

I think Pegula will take his time to get the feel of the organization before he makes any big decisions...

Patrick L. (Long Island, NY)

Any thoughts on the NY Islanders? Alot of buzz about a move to Kansas City, no one is showing up to the Coliseum and it's really sad.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:12 PM)

Haven't heard anything concrete, sir

Chad (Bay Area)

Who will have a big second half season...either player or team

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:13 PM)

Joe Pavelski, Sharks

Bill (Outside Or-bland-o)

What exactly does Lids have to do to win a Hart Trophy? His smoothness and apparent-lack-of-effort-to-the-human-eye seems to be the only impediment that I can see. That being said, the individual awards don't matter if we win another Cup for the Wings. Your thoughts?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:14 PM)

Read my huge piece on him from early December. My point exactly

Todd (San Jose)

Pierre, it's been a tough year out here. I've yelled. I've coddled. I've kicked. I've babied. I've changed lines. I've changed goalies. I've ridden Boyle into the ground. My hair's lost any pepper that it once had in the salt-and-pepper. Outside of Couture, Clowe and Thornton (yes, I know people ride him but watch him every night - he's bringing it), I'm disgusted with the lack of effort and the disinterested attitudes of these guys pulling down millions of dollars to play the best game in the universe in one of the best places to live in the universe. So I'm announcing it here in your chat: I've had enough. I quit. Let them find someone else to change the diapers around here. Want a driver on your next roadie?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:15 PM)

Hang in there pal, big comeback win last night. It's coming around !

Jeff Vinik (Tampa, FL)

Pierre, I know you are not a big uniform aficionado, but do you consider the changes we unveiled for the Lightning next year to be an upgrade or downgrade over our current unis. Clearly we were going for a more traditional look, but we copied the stripes on our socks and pants directly from Detroit (hello Stevie Y) and by dropping the black we got rid of a color scheme that was unique to us in the NHL. We also got rid of the single best feature of our uniforms (the lightning bolts on the pants) and kept the single worst feature (the "Bolts" third sweater). Fail.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:15 PM)

Jeff, as I tweeted about your new jerseys yesterda, ''me like."

Gary (Gary320@hotmail.com)

What do the Canadiens have to do to become cup contenders? What should we expect from them at the trade deadline?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:15 PM)

I think they'll look hard at another d-man and maybe a top-six forward but they may not have cap room to do both

Jeff Vanderbeek (Newark, NJ)

Pierre, in the past few years I have justified the building of the Prudential Center and the wrangling for the Kovalchuk contract as part of a long term strategy to make the Devils more marketable as our younger fans that grew up on the Cup teams come into their own and are able to buy tickets and merchandise. I guess my managing partners and minority owners do not see it that way....somewhere Burnside is smiling.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:17 PM)

Great looking rink. Must be hard to take that it's near empty every night. All your franchise has done is win over the past 20 years and still you can't draw flies. The tickets are expensive, that may explain some of it, but i think three NHL teams in the NY/NJ area is the biggest culprit.

Caphcky for realz (DC)

Is the pressure of the Captaincy, along with expectation for this year and disappointment from last season getting to Ovechkin? Do you feel he would be a more effective player without the C?Also, the Caps seem to hold more optional practices than I hear other teams having, and Ovechkin never skates on optional practices, and frequently misses mandatory practices (albeit excused as "maintenance day" by coaches). Do you feel that this sort of less than 100% commitment to practice has an effect on moral within the locker room? I understand he plays more minutes than most forwards, and hits hard, but will a team start to resent a player who misses more practices than he makes?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:17 PM)

I have zero explanation for Ovie. Have thought about it, asked around about it, have no explanation

Doogs (London)

Is there a better news story for the league than what is going on in Tampa right now both on & off the ice? Can the league just clone Vinik, Leiweke

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:18 PM)

Terrific stuff. In fact I wrote about Roloson today, http://es.pn/ftTSvG

Neu (Philly)

Do you think the Flyers should be more worried about TB being on their heels? Last night it looked as if the Flyers didn't show back up from their break in the first 5 minutes of the game while TB was flying all over the ice.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:19 PM)

Bobo the goalie had an off night so don't over-react. But the Bolts are for real.

Loup (DC)

I know this is a futile effort considering Campbell's track record, but please try to explain why Jordan Staal was not given the mandatory 1 game suspension for a match penalty? It was a gloved punch to the head (illegal) to an unsuspecting player in retaliation for a clean hit. If there is something outside of blindside headshots the NHL needs to take aim at, it is retaliatory hits. There is no need for this junk to clog up games after every single clean hard hit. These guys are hockey players, getting hit is part of the game. We've gotten to the point where every player thinks every single hard hit is dirty and warrants retaliation. I am sick of seeing it 3 to 5 times in every game. When Konstantinov or Stevens absolutely destroyed a player with a clean hit, you didn't see 3 players from the other team running over to him to sucker punch him. The game has lost its respect for a good hit.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:20 PM)

Guess the league figured Staal had paid enough last night with the game misconduct

Tom (The Thumb)

Pierre, do you see the Red Wings doing anything with their goaltending situation? Howard has an injury and will probably have to start every game until the Osgood gets back because the other backups aren't solid enough. Also, any thoughts on Howard's future in Hockeytown?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:21 PM)

Holland two weeks ago, after losing Nabokov on waivers, told me he would not look for another goalie unless Ozzie's rehab wasn't on track ....

The 6th Sens (Ottawa)

Is there any update on Shea Weber's contract negotiations? Is the possibility that the Preds may not be able to extend him real?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:22 PM)

Sorry don't have an update. But that will be one to watch. He's one year removed from UFA... if he doesn' t sign a long-term extension by this summer, what do you do if you're Nashville? You have to shop him

Bill (Bolingbrook, IL)

Are the Blackhawks looking to trade for a veteran defenseman? What about trading Brent Seabrook?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:22 PM)

yes they want a defenseman before Feb. 28.I'd be shocked if they moved Seabrook. Why would they?

Tony (Buffalo NY)

Pierre, with the Sabres ownership change, alot of people from Buffalo are getting their hopes up about Pegula spending big money to get high profile players in here. I have yet to hear anything publically from Pegula leading me to believe this is 100% certainty. Have you heard any indication about what Pegula will be willing to do once he takes over?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:23 PM)

Have been told that while Pegula won't penny-pinch as much as current ownership, he won't spend like a crazy drunk sailor either, and likely won't spend to the cap. he got rich by making smart financial decisions.

Tony (Buffalo NY)

Do you think Darcy Regier will be active this trade deadline assuming the Sabres are still position to fight for a playoff spot?

Doug Wilson (San Jose, CA (Shark Headquarters))

Pierre - The good: my team, down 3 goals last night, gave a vicious knock out punch to a playoff caliber team that's been dominant on the road of late. The bad: Down 0-3 to Yotesby the second period even after Todd McLellan and other team captains discussed with the team the need to play with urgency thru the season. The ugly: I can't decide if this team is just : a #2 defenseman away from getting over the hump or just an assortment of talent that doesn't have the heart to play consistently for 60 minutes (or 5 and 7 game series). How do I get pretty? Or do we stay ugly?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:27 PM)

Go get a top-four D, Doug !

Loup (DC)

Alright, spill it, you loved The Guardian Project, right?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:27 PM)

Have no clue what that even is

Tony (Buffalo NY)

By the way, glad to see you defending the Sabres against Burnside in the debate today

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:27 PM)

You're welcome :)

Neu (Philly)

Do you think the Flyers should be looking for another winger? Maybe drop Nodl to the fourth line?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:28 PM)

I think they're fine

Andy Appleton (Kemptville, ON)

Pierre, what do you think the chnaces are that Brad Richards stays with Stars till end of season? Is the threat of him leavinf as a UFA real and enough for Joe N. to deal him by deadline so Brad doesn't walk for nothing in the summer?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:28 PM)

I think he'll end the season in Dallas. After that, who knows !

Marylou (Albany, NY)

Bonjour Pierre - As a Penguins fan, I was disappointed over the weekend not to hear any mention at the skills competition or All Star Game of the players who were voted in/named to All Star team but couldn't participate. Namely I'm referring to the injured Crosby - the league's top vote getter - and Malkin. A snub or oversight? Just not shown on TV? Merci

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:29 PM)

Interesting point, never did notice any mention

Dave (Boston)

What d-men (if any) do you think the Bruins should target for trade?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:30 PM)

Chris Phillips is UFA after the season. He knows Chara, he knows Chiarelli. Would seem like a fit to me but I don't know who Chiarelli is eyeing

Howard (Los Angeles)

What is going on with Scott Gomez. Talk about being In a funk. His production wouldreally help the Habs down the stretch.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:32 PM)

Howard, I actually thought last night he produced some chances even if his line didn't score. I thought he really moved his legs last night. But yes, overall, you're dead right. Brutal trade by the Habs a few years ago. Brutal !

Alexander Ovechkin (Washington DC)

Hi Pierre, I've been having some trouble scoring goals lately. What do I need to do to start putting the puck in the net again?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:33 PM)

Watch a tape of your 65-goal season. It's a therapy that has helped star players in the past.

Dean Lombardi (My Own Little World)

Pierre, I have said that a trade isn't out there, but I am known to partake in posturing. There is very little reason to come out and say there is no trade (as opposed to we are looking into all aspects), so I think its fair to say that there IS something out there but I don't know whether or not I am willing to part with my babies. What do you think? I need your wisdom Pierre!

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:35 PM)

Wait for more teams to raise the white flag. Right now only 5 teams are totally out in the whole league. 3 weeks from now that will be at least double. Then you'll have more choices.

Nicklas Lidstrom (Detroit)

Pierre, are you in love with me?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:35 PM)

YES

Glen Sather (NY)

What are some names I should be inquiring about for my team?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:36 PM)

July 1, phone agent Pat Morris and ask him what it'll take to make Brad Richards a New York Ranger

Jesse S. (Carmel, NY)

Pierre, thanks for answering my all-star weekend question even though I know you didn't really want to. I agree with your assessement that the skills competition was WAYYYY too long....mainly because the trick breakaway challenge and the elimination shootout are pointless...we have shootouts in real games! As an alternative, what do you think of next year getting some of the greats from the past to come back and participate in the events they made famous...i.e., Bourque in the targets, Iafrate in the slapshot, Gartner in the fastest skater. I would much rather watch Bourque, Mess or Roenick try to go 4/4 again than 50+ guys shoot breakaways for an hour.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:37 PM)

Jesse, I don't like seeing the retired guys. It ruins your image of when they played when you see them in alumni games and they can barely get around

The 6th Sens (Ottawa)

A follow up to that Weber question: If you're in Ottawa's position, would you consider packing a player like Erik Karlsson to bring Shea Weber in? (Obviously Weber would have to sign an extension before a trade is finalized.)

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:37 PM)

Murray told me Karlsson isn't going anywhere. And besides, Preds would never move Weber this season, they're going for it

Loup (DC)

Pierre, any updates on the Hulsizer deal? How much longer can the NHL realistically hold on before completing a deal with Winnipeg that will probably drag out a whole 2 days?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:38 PM)

Bettman told us Saturday that Phoenix deal still on track althoug he did say time was short

Steve (Montreal)

what do you make of the rumor that vanderbeek pushed hard for kovalchuk so the devils would be an easier sell to prokhorov? coincidence or an interesting idea?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:40 PM)

Well, let me just say this: Kovalchuk's salary this season and next season is $6 million _ it jumps to $11 million for several years starting in 2012-13. Certainly convenient if your planning to sell the team before the 2012-13 season.Having said that, Vanderbeek's spokesman told me yesterday he doesn't want to sell

Ryan (Damascus, MD)

Be glad you don't.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:40 PM)

ha

Andy (Newport Beach)

Pierre, do you see the Ducks being buyers at the trade deadline?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:40 PM)

Andy, I think they'd like to improve blue-line

Brian C. (Fairfax, VA)

How active do you see this trade deadline being compared to previous years?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:41 PM)

active in quantity, low in quality

Jordan Staal (Pittsburgh, PA)

Pierre, Loup from DC makes a good point about how every player now has to retaliate for every big hit by pointlessly jumping a guy even if the hit was clean....that is the single biggest disgrace in the NHL right now, way worse than headshots and concussions. But Loup, did you WATCH the Penguins game last night? Nothing Prust did was a "clean" hit. He ran and cross-checked Tyler Kennedy after the whistle and then when I got in his face he elbowed my in the chops. So I punched him. With my glove on. I would say he was "suspecting."

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:41 PM)

I've got nothing to add.

al (denver)

any clue when the blues an the avs are going to make up last nights game? is there a chance they don't play it if it has no playoff implications?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:42 PM)

Feb. 22 according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Jeremy Rutherford

al (denver)

do you think there would be any interest for eric brewer in the trade market? he's played pretty well this year and the blues don't look like they are making the playoffs.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:42 PM)

yes for sure

Dave (Toronto)

Any news on MA Bergeron. Are the Bolts going to call him up soon? He's taking up space on my roster right now. Don't want to drop his potential PP points prematurely

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:42 PM)

sorry I don't, and I was even emailing with Yzerman today but forgot to ask

Joel (San Francisco)

Pierre - who gets final say in shutting down a player for the season for precautionary reasons (ex. Bruins with Savard) - the team or the player? Given their cap situation, wouldn't the Bruins have an incentive to put Savard on long term IR and free up cap space even if he could potentially get healthy? Could see scenarios like this being a way for teams to circumvent the cap if they get final say.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:43 PM)

Joel, the league keeps a close eye on this situations for that exact reason so that there's no cheating

christopher (brooklyn ny)

who do like detroit or ottawa tonight?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:43 PM)

Da Wings

Vinny Prospal (NY)

Do you think I can "jump start" Gabby?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:43 PM)

yes

Mark (Detroit)

Pierre you should have ended the chat on the Lidstrom question

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:44 PM)

ha, but I'd be cheating my duties of giving your fine hockey fans one full hour of my french-canadian love

Drew Doughty (LA)

Oh I see how it is Pierre. Well I'm sure you and Mr. Lidstrom will make each other very happy.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:44 PM)

Drew, you know I love you too buddy :)

Thomas (CA)

Sharks vs Ducks. Who wins tonight?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:45 PM)

Ducks 4, Sharks 3, OT

Tony (Buffalo NY)

What team outside of the top 8 in each conference has the best shot of making it?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:45 PM)

Carolina in the East and LA in the West

Mats (Turku)

Hi. greetings form Finland. love your stuff at espn. if the flames choose to sell kipper where would he be a good fit? and do you think he can keep this good form going since the GM change in calgary?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:46 PM)

Mats (shouldn't you be from Sweden?), Jay Feaster insists he's not going to move Kipper. And yes, I think he's going to keep his good form.

Todd (Chicago)

Do you think that the players questionnaire that left Dallas coach Marc Crawford as one of the least liked to play for will have any effect on the free agency signing of Brad Richards?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:47 PM)

no

Mattehw (Alexandria, VA)

The Caps can't find the back of the net. I am just not seeing this as an issue a trade deadline pick up will fix. What would you do if you were GM GM, ride this group out and see if they find a groove or try to shake things up?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:48 PM)

If I was PL GM (get it, get it), I would trade for a second-line center. But that's just me, PL GM

Jesse M (Tampa)

Why does the NHL want to keep hockey in Phoenix? The market isn't there and they could be selling out arenas in Winnipeg. What's the real reason?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:48 PM)

Jesse, brand-new rink is built, why move it now

Germaine (Habs fan in Wisconsin)

Bonjour.....What do you think about Mike Fisher coming to Montreal? Even though they need a defenseman.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:49 PM)

don't see it, but stranger things have happened

Shane Doan (Winnipeg?)

Pierre, should I be house hunting in Winnipeg?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:49 PM)

don't you still own a house there from 1995 ? :)

Ron (Blitzburgh)

The Devils are the hottest team over the last 10 games 7-2-1??? WOW!

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:50 PM)

Well, Calgary going 11-3-3 in their last 17 is pretty good, too

Niklas Backstrom (Minnesota)

Why was there no love for my spectacular performance last night on espn? Especially in the top 10 for my skate save against Jack Johnson?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:50 PM)

I'm in the internet department, not the TV department at ESPN :)

Nikki (Way too cold, TX)

Normally I share your opinion about the All-Star Weekend, but I thought the whole player draft was surprisingly fun. The game was still a snooze, but did you at least think the draft was interesting?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:51 PM)

yes, which I said in my first all-star response at the start of the chat

Mats (Turku)

i'm finnishswedish not swedish. biiig difference.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:51 PM)

ah, thank you ....

Brandon (Michigan)

who gets home ice through the playoffs?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:51 PM)

The President's Trophy winners

Bryant (California)

If you think carolina and LA are in... who falls out of the top 8??

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:52 PM)

Atlanta and.... don't know in the West. Too close to call

Joel (San Francisco)

I noticed that Bettman was standing on a stair when being interviewed by Charissa Thompson on Versus during All Star festivities. Just how short is he?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:52 PM)

he's not tall

Kris (Detroit)

Any chance that The Big House in Ann Arbor will host a Winter Classic game anytime soon involving the Red Wings?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:52 PM)

Wings told me they weren't in for next year... maybe year after?

Brian (San Jose)

Pierre, Can the Sharks get a top 4 dman without giving up their core talent on offense, either by the trade deadline or in the offseason?

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:52 PM)

ya they've got lots in minors, lots of prospects or picks to deal

Germaine (Wisconsin Habs (and Packers fan))

Packers or Steelers? you better get this right!

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:53 PM)

Packers will win. I have to say that because my buddy Paul Dezara is a huge Steelers fan and he's driving me crazy.

Joe Thornton (San Jose, CA)

Pierre, so now you are three-timing me with Lidstrom AND Doughty?? If we all moved into a house together in Utah do you think HBO would film it and call it Big Love II....

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:56 PM)

I like it.

Pierre LeBrun
  (4:56 PM)

OK folks, that's a wrap. Time to go take the snowblower out again. Cheers
