What's going on everybody? Greetings from the Detroit suburbs. Let's get this chat rolling ...
Boozer clearly plays better without joakim on the floor. Is there any chance that we are going to see them playing more without each other in the near future? I mean, money wise, we have invested so much into them that they both better start.... but production wise, I feel like the bulls would be better off with maybe taj starting instead of joakim and joakim playing with the bench mob (the other way around wouldn't work because boozer doesn't hustle enough to be in the bench mob and keep them effective)
I don't think so, V.J. In order for the Bulls to get to where they want to go, Boozer and Noah have to play with one another at the same time, and they must play well. Like you said, there is too much money wrapped up in both of them to think otherwise. You be seeing them together a lot down the stretch.
So now with Lebron saying that Rose deserves the MVP, is it official that Derrick Rose will win the MVP this season?
I think so ... but you never know. I don't see who jumps over Rose at this point, though.
Hi Nick, love the articles, keep up the good work. Who would you say is the best free agent the bulls can go after during the off-season?
I thin Jason Richardson would be a great fit for the Bulls, but I seriously doubt they'll have enough money to sign up. Don't spend too much time thinking about the off-season, though. It's going to be a llooooongggg one because of the lockout.
Nick, besides derrick rose, name one player who you think will be the biggest key to the Bulls' success in the playoffs?
Deng would be an easy answer to this question, but I'll go with Boozer. He has to ramp up his defensive presence a little bit, and also has to be a 20/10 guy every night. If he does that, the Bulls will be in good shape.
Should fans be worried about Boozer's interior defense during the playoffs?
who does the Benny the Bull and how are they as a person? Are they funny or waht?
The person inside the Benny the Bull costume is hilarious. I can't give up the person's identity. Benny is on Twitter so ask him and see what he says.
Nick, in your opinion how bad is Keith Bogans? After watching the Bulls play Philly I lost a lot of respect for his game.
Keith is a solid pro -- who would be better served as a third or fourth guard off the bench. Like I've said, I don't think the Bulls can win it all with him playing 18-20 min. a night.
Nick with all the Anti-Rose MVP backlash, i.e. cowherd, lebatard, hollinger, etc., do you think it helps his chances or hurts his chances with the writers that haven't decided yet? And are they just hating the new kid?
I really don't think anyone can take the award away from Derrick right now. He's proven over the course of the season that he is the most valuable player in the league this year. Despite all the recent criticism, I think he will win the award.
how come R. Butler has not gotten any major minutes in the Bulls line-up?
Because the rotation was already set and Thibs didn't want to mess with it.
Will my defense ever improve enough for Thibs to be happy or am I always going to be a liability and just an offensive guy?
The second one, Carlos. Aren't you supposed to be in Detroit?
Nick, be patient with me. I have 2 questions for you....The Bulls have been starting the past few games kind of slow. Making D Rose have to try to hard to drive a run. Do you see this as a problem with the playoffs coming up?Also, How much of a flaw will Boozer's defense be, has Thibs talked to him about it?
1. I don't see the slow starts as a problem because I think the game will totally change once the playoffs start and the players' adrenaline will be ramped up. 2. Boozer's defense is a serious flaw and I have no doubt that Thibs talks to him about it every day.
I know its quite a ways away, but how long do you see the lockout lasting? Missing much of the season?
I've heard a lot of varying opinions. It could be anywhere from 3 months to the entire year, but I don't have much doubt that one is coming.
Best Bulls nickname? Korver -Hot Sauce; Omer - Turkish Hammer; Kurt - Big Sexy; Scal -White Mamba?
It has to be White Mamba, right?
How worried should we be about Derrick Rose's shooting issues lately? He seems to have had a number of games recently with a poor shooting percentage.
Like a lot of players, I think Derrick is just tired. He will get a second wind once the playoffs start.
Will Pargo ever suit up? I remember a few years back when he was with the Bulls in a playoff series vs Washington he came up huge with some clutch 3 point shooting.
What will make this season a failure in the eyes of Chicago? Is it really Championship or bust?
I don't think so at all. I think if the Bulls get to the Eastern Conference Finals they should be extremely happy.
Is it possible that the struggles Boozer has with Noah on the court stem from Boozer taking a more back seat, less aggressive approach?
That's what Rose thinks. He said just that after Wednesday's game. I think the comfort level between Boozer and Noah just isn't there and it may not get there this season.
Hey Nick! What do you think is the biggest weakness of this Bulls team? After seeing what types of teams have managed to take the Bulls down this season, what are opposing coaches planning to do against the Bulls come playoff time? Basically, what is the biggest hole in our offense/ defense that could be the achilles heal?
The lack of a 20-25 point scorer at the 2-guard position. The same one it has been all year. I think this will be a problem for the Bulls in the playoffs, especially if Rose has an off night.
Do you think Jo will try to work on his midrange game this summer? Seems like it could take some of the defensive focus away from Boozer if he's a threat to hit an open 10-12 ft jump shot.
Yes, I do. I think he will work on his jumper and his post moves even more. He was hitting the jumper a lot before he got hurt.
Was at the Bucks-Bulls game last Saturday...have you ever seen a road game with that many Bulls fans in attendance?
No. That felt like a Bulls home game.
Asik cannot be the Turkish Hammer, Gortat is alredy the Polish Hammer.
Should the Bulls be giving Butler/Pargo/JL3 at least some mop up minutes now to prepare them in case of an emergency in the playoffs?
Would you want any of those three in a pressure packed situation late in the game? Didn't think so.
How is Noah looking these days? It seems like he never has been the same player since that original thumb injury.
I think his wind is finally back to where it was. But there is no doubt he is more hesitant about taking that jumper. He needs to get that going again before the playoffs, if possible.
I'm glad the Bulls lost to Philly the other night, seemed like they were getting a bit cocky, especially after the Bucks win. Did you sense the same, if so, any need for concern of being over confident? Thanks.
I don't think the Bulls are over-confident. I just think they came out flat, again, and it bit them this time. I don't think Thibs will allow this team to get over-confident.
In the MIinnesota game, Kurt was actually an offensive weapon by hitting that mide-range jumper. Do you think maybe Kurt will get more time in the playoffs even when Noah comes back?
I've thought from the beginning that Kurt will get a lot of time in the playoffs. Thibs trusts him and has repeatedly called Thomas the Bulls' best interior defender.
Hi Nick, I am a 7 year old Bulls Fan! I want to know if you think the bulls can not only win the eastern confrence but the nba championship with this years team...or are we getting too excited?
C.J., I am impressed. I barely knew what a computer was at 7 years old. To answer your question, no I don't think the Bulls have enough to win it all this year. But I do think they are only getting better and will be around in the Finals in the next few years. Good luck with first grade.
Nick, Why is it that everytime the bulls shoot a free throw Boozer grabs the ball, even from the ref, and the rubs it with both hands before giving it back to him? He does it all the time.
It's constant. He's been doing it all year. Boozer must touch the basketball well over 100 times a game. It's just what he feels he has to do to get prepared.
Nick, Asik's defensive presence is only getting better but why in the world does he always bring the ball down after he gets an offensive board? Is anybody telling him to go up strong?
I think they tell him that over and over. With another summer in the gym, I think he will be a lot better.
If Ronnie Brewer was healthy during camp, do you think he would have been the starter coming out of camp?
Yes, I do.
Piggybacking on Ash's questions... what is with Boozer shaking his head around after a dunk?
It's his way of celebrating.
Coaches tend to shorten the rotation in the playoffs, but given how well the bench mob has performed, do you think Thibs will more or less stay consistent with how the distribution of minutes has been lately? Or do you think we'll see a change?
I think it will stay mostly the same. I just think we may see Thomas for a few more minutes a game.
Who is the main voice in the locker room?
Noah -- but when Rose speaks, everybody listens.
Any chance Chicago ever gets another basketball team. Hornets anyone?
Do you really think Jerry Reinsdorf would allow that to happen?
Should we trade Rose for Bosh since he is leaving thru free agency anyways?
This may be the single dumbest question I've gotten all year. And that's saying something.
Who do you see coming up bigger in the playoffs from the bench, Korver or Thomas?
If Korver gets hot, he will be a gigantic difference maker for the Bulls. Thomas will be steady, Korver probably has a chance to make a bigger impact.
Do you see Bogans getting less playing time in the playoffs?
Not really. Thibs has been pretty consistent with his minutes all year.
With McGradys decent year in Detroit do you see the Bulls persuing him in free agency to sure up that SG spot?
Easy solution to the Bulls future 2 guard problems: Derrick Rose. Don't you think that Derron would love to come back to Illinois?
The Bulls don't have the money to bring him back. Plus, I think Williams wants to stay as a point guard.
who would the players rather face in the Eastern finals, Boston or Miami?
I think they'd rather face Miami. They know they can beat them. I don't think they feel as confident against Boston.
my question isdo you think the bulls will be in the eastern confrence finals?
If they play the Magic in the second round, yes. If they play the Celtics or Heat, no.
do you think a lockout would hurt the development of this team?
No. I think these guys will only get better with more conditioning in the summer. They'll find a way to workout together in small groups somewhere besides the Berto Center.
How confident are you that the Bulls will hold on to the #1 seed in the East?
Pretty confident. I don't think anyone will jump them.
Is Thibs the favorite for COY? A lock now with the Spurs' losing streak?
I still don't think he's the favorite. But he is inching closer every day.
will Thibs be resting anyone with that #1 seed on the line?
Not a chance.
Why would it be better for the Bulls to play the Magic in the second round? Do we really have someone who can stop Howard?
No, the Bulls don't. But the Magic's supporting cast is weaker than it was before all those deals. If Howard gets into foul trouble, the Magic are in deep trouble.
Nick, How do you think C.J. Waaaaaaaaatson has held up as the back up to rose?
He has gotten a lot better as the year has gone along. I give C.J. a lot of credit because he didn't look comfortable at the beginning of the season, but he has improved over the last couple of months.
Hi Nick! Why did the Bulls wear their white home uniforms in Atlanta and their red road uniforms in a game this week at the UC?Thanks and keep up the Great work!
Atlanta wanted to wear the red ones at home ... probably to generate another revenue stream. But seriously, how many people are buying Hawks jerseys these days? Not many.
Do you think this team has a second gear for the playoffs? And if so, how much higher would it be?
I think they will be re-energized, yes. But the success of the Bulls playoff run depends on Rose. If he can elevate his game to another level, there aren't going to be many teams that can slow the Bulls down because of the way they play defense.
Go back to the summer. Would you take Joe Johnson, or the combo of Korver, Brewer, and Bogans?
Absolutely ... and so would Derrick Rose. That was one of the guys he wanted all along.
The past couple years Bulls coaches have not been around for a while so how long do you think coach Thib will stay with the Bulls?
Thibs is going to be here a while. How long? Nobody knows for sure because NBA coaches get fired all the time -- but the team loves him ... and I don't see that changing any time soon.
We're not going to see Derrick pull a Lebron in 2013 are we with ESPN and the whole nine are we, he's going to get his money right?
Derrick is going to be playing for the Bulls for a long time.
Thibs seems to be all basketball, all the time. What's he like off the court?
All basketball. All the time.
Nick, why are all the haters coming out and looking at every weakness and intentionally going after Rose? Is it a time of the season or what? Thanks
It just happens. I wouldn't read too much into any of the criticisms. Rose is going to be the MVP. I'd be stunned if he didn't win the award.
I'd like to see Thomas play with Boozer more and a combo or Asik/Noah/Gibson. I understand that when healthy those two will always start but I like to potential offensively and defensively with those combos.
You will see that a few more times, but in the playoffs, it's going to be a lot of Noah and Boozer.
All right everybody, I am out of here. I will talk to you guys next week. Have a good weekend. If you're at any of the games this week, come over and say hello.
