  (1:06 PM)

Jesse is seconds away. Thanks for your patience.

Jesse Rogers
  (1:12 PM)

Sorry for the delay. Laptop problems. Just got off the air with silvy/waddle. Lets talk some hawks on the day of the biggest game of the year..fate in their hands..a loss tonight and that changes..fire away!

Wayne (Kansas City)

Sup Jesse! Assuming the hawks pull their H out of their A, who would you rather see in the first round of the playoffs, Van, SJ or Det?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:13 PM)

Great question...prob det or SJ..they really match up well with det and have the goalie edge for sure in my opinion....Without Bolland I dont like them against vancouver as much...SJ is ok matchup but det is best

John Cocktoast (The Loop)

Your blog yesterday laying everything at the feet of our centers was right on. Do you agree that getting a true #2 to play with Hossa is key to next year? Can Jarms bring that return in a trade?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:15 PM)

Its up there but they might like the idea of bolland/kruger as their 2 and 3 so they might not go outside the organization...kruger is the longterm guy there i think they believe...might start as a 3..

Jeff (Arlington Heights)

What is the good word on sharpie? If we are going to make the playoffs they really need his presence both offensively and on the power play as both have suffered since he has gone down!

Jesse Rogers
  (1:16 PM)

Skated this morning so the clock starts ticking for his return...I think he is back for sunday's finale

Johnny (Chicago)

Jesse,Haven't seen a Hawks player drop the gloves in I don't know how long. With Brouwer presumably out, does Scott get in the lineup tonight and throw down? I'll think of anything at this point to get the guys a little fired up. Pretty sure Scott and Cam Janssen went after it earlier this year.

Jesse Rogers
  (1:17 PM)

Yeah, scott has fought several blues..am told he is in tonight but could change if they need/want more offense (which they do) but expect him in over ben smith

Luke (South Bend)

Obviously the Hawks making the playoffs right now is a big if, but if they do end up as an 8 seed and draw Vancouver, how do you see the series playing out? I think our psychological edge over Vancouver as well as the fact that they'd allow us to skate more than other teams means we'd have a decent chance.

Jesse Rogers
  (1:18 PM)

Alot better if Bolland was available...its just too much for toews to play defense AND be on a scroing line...no one else on that team can come close to handling the sedins

Pete (Europe)

Kruger seems like he has a shot to be a legit number 2...Great hands and vision, gives effort along the boards, and is already solid on D..Will he be a starter next year for the Hawks or do you think he will be sent to the AHL?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:19 PM)

Pretty sure he'll be here unless he takes a step back...like I said 3rd line or maybe 2nd

Joe (Indian Head Park)

What the deal with the Turco betting incident?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:21 PM)

Yeah, he was goofing with a fan, bet him during the game 5 bucks the hawks would win, etc. they exchanged the money etc. at the time prob not a big deal but looks pretty bad to be doing during the game, etc. He'll get his hand slapped

Ryan M (Colorado (via Evanston))

What do you see as the major reason for the offense being 'stuck in the mud'?Also, can we expect any more drastic line changes tonight?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:23 PM)

Good question...I did not think they would miss Sharp THIS much..should be able to overcome one player but maybe in combo with bolland its pretty bad..Like I wrote in my blog yesterday...think of the centers they have..kruger, frolik, johnson...new, new position, not offensive player...its tough to get it going with one true offensive center, etc. kruger had like one shift with kane aand got benched so they have issues up the middle

Josh (Willowbrook)

Any chance John Scott can plug up the front of the net, a la Big Buff in the next few games?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:24 PM)

A couple people have asked me about that...I dont know if he has ever done it and it has not come up with Q at all..maybe I will ask but there is some art to it...not sure where/when he would do it..on the pp? hmmm

Russ (VT)

Any chance Turco will be suspended for his "gambling"?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:26 PM)

Tough call...I'd like to think not...hand slap

JD (McNuggent)

What is the the Hawk's mentality right now, are they beat down or excited for the chance at the playoffs?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:26 PM)

Excite by the challenege but I think a guy like Toews is worried about what awaits them next week if they get there...team is not gelling..lines a mess..maybe sharp return is enough..bolland would be bigger

Big Lou (Downers)

Hey Jesse, what is the deal with Kyle Beach?? Is he not good enough to get called up or do they want him for next year?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:27 PM)

Yeah, not ready from what Ive been told..maybe next year...havent seen him enough to know specifics

Blake (Chicago)

Jesse, after last nights forfeiture of an unbelievably important point, are we realistically going to make the cut? Dallas plays garbage teams to finish out and we've got blues/wings/wings. Needless to say I'm beyond uncomfortable at this point

Jesse Rogers
  (1:28 PM)

Yes they will make it. cause no way they lose tonight and no way they get swept by det.

Chi-Guy (chi-guy.com)

Where has the Patrick Kane from last night been all year? He was simply electric...

Jesse Rogers
  (1:29 PM)

Hes been there on and off...opponents that let him skate and do his thing, he does it, sometimes he has off nights...I dont have a BIG problem with his yr. could be better but could be a lot worse

michele (chicago)

How tired is Duncan Keith right now? I think that since being reunited with his BFF, him and Seabrook have been playing better.

Jesse Rogers
  (1:30 PM)

Liking Seabrook's game. Offense coming together for him mroe now..Keith has his moments both good and bad...bottom line they havent given up much lately..its all you can ask for

Bryan (Da Chi)

JR, any injury news? Q said Sharpie might skate today or tmrw? Anything new on Bolly?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:31 PM)

Again, Sharp skated today...I say by end of weekend he plays...Bolland nothing new as far as I know

tony (chicago)

What is the status or Troy Brower?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:31 PM)

Do not know the extent..efforting but had to concentrate some on this silly turco story..Q will update media at 5 pm

matt (home)

with dallas having 3 easy games left to play and the hawks having 3 tough ones, is it safe to say that if the hawks don't win out they will not make the playoffs.

Jesse Rogers
  (1:33 PM)

Im not sure what is "safe" to say...there is always a chance at an upset..come sunday I see alot of texts going to madden, havlat, etc. for some help from the wild to beat dallas...maybe colorado pulls an upset...how about 2-0-1 for hawks and they are in

Nick (SF)

hey Jesse...I was just wondering what exactly a player does if their a healthy scratch or does not not dress? Does he sit on the bench and watch, watch from the locker room, get to leave the stadium?? I have always wondered and never known...Thanks...get well soon SHARPIE

Jesse Rogers
  (1:34 PM)

Most watch either in the dressing room and if they can they will workout during the game...ride the bike, etc. If not, they sometimes go up to a team suite or even the pressbox to watch...they really dont want them in the "room" when the active players are doing their thing so they are in and out depending

Jay (Cubicle)

Does John Scott play for Brouwer tonight or the recalled Ben Smith?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:35 PM)

Im told Scott will play but subject to change

Ron (Skokie)

Journalists are commenting that the Hawk's troubles come from the lack of secondary scoring, and particularly the loss of character players such as Ladd, Byfuglien, and Versteeg. This has forced the team to be too dependent on its two top lines for scoring. The fourth line has not gotten on the score sheet in many days, and the third line is almost equally futile.1) In hindsight, did Stan Bowman make any mistakes in his decisions after last season? Could Ladd and Versteeg have been kept?2) What can the Hawks do in the postseason (presuming they make it) to create a more balanced offense?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:37 PM)

There are always diff permutations Bowman could have created to keep one guy over another but I think he did what he had to..if they could have moved Campbell they would have..anyway, getting sharp back--i think he might go to center--is a start...if somehow bolland returns then huge to solidify up the middle..thats how they make a run..plus 2 and 7 play best hockey of season

Jac (Chicago)

Jesse, just heard the hilarious report about Turco's fan encounter and the $5 bet. How frowned upon is this from the league? I highly doubt Turco gave the guy a wad of 5's cuz where's he going to get it from, but I can see the fan giving him a 5 and turco holding on to it but giving it back with "Turco Rules" on it. Huge deal here?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:38 PM)

Like ive said...huge in one sense, they will frown on it but it will pass...just bad thing cause its a slippery slope, mixing it up with fans in that way

Kathy Kinney (Genoa)

Hey Jesse, is there any chance that Seabrook will keep the A on his jersey once Sharp comes back?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:38 PM)

No, Sharp gets it back...

Jon (Genoa)

If/when Sharp comes back, do you put him on the first line wing or have him center the second line?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:39 PM)

Unless Kruger picks it up I think center but its a tough call...he and hossa did well in playoffs so I dont have a big issue there

Jon (Genoa)

I know Jeff Taffe has never been a big NHL scorer in his time in the league, but he does have 28 goals in Rockford. Why not him over Ben Smith?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:39 PM)

Looking more for a wing I assume? Taffe a center...

jordy (canada)

Hjalmmarson seems to have trouble with outlet passses, and often ends up using the high glass or icing it (as he did with 30 seconds left last night). He also has 9 points. How do you rate his season and do you think me might be attractive to other teams in a trade?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:41 PM)

Hes gotten better as the yr has gone along, just look at his plus/minus..but I think underwhelming answers your question...you should back into 15-20 points as much as he plays...9 is pretty bad...reliable in some sense but not the way he seemed last yr

Justin (Chicago)

I know there's no use crying over spilled milk and all that, but with the Hawks struggles it really bugs me that they basically got punished for drafting too well this past off season when they had to dump a bunch of their key role players. Any chance this rule gets changed in the future where there is some kind of cap discount for drafted players?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:42 PM)

Anything is possible but I doubt it...Hawks paid these guys a little sooner than they had to...thats where Tallon gets some blame..they could have kept one or two guys if they had done it correctly from the beginning but thats in hindsight

Paige (Cleveland)

Jesse do you see Campoli being with the Hawks next year? I am really impressed with him and Johnson and want to see them both back your thoughts......

Jesse Rogers
  (1:44 PM)

I think so...they might trade a d-man so they can keep him but Bowman said dont be surprised if all 6 are back..I would be, thats a lot to spend on defense but maybe they do come back...I think campoli will be here

Secret Service (Washington, D.C.)

The defamation of American currency is a federal offense and a very serious matter. We will speak to Mr. Turco and this "Habs fan" very soon and ask them to explain their actions. Let this be a warning to others.

Jesse Rogers
  (1:45 PM)

I just liked this one

Mike (Oak Forest, IL)

How do you feel about the Hawks passing up the chance to get Leighton for our back-up to Crawford next year?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:46 PM)

I tweeted yesterday i thought they might grab him..little surprised...hes the type they like but maybe they want the backup to make the minimum..this guy was 300k more than that..

BlackHawkDave (St. Charles)

Pretty soft call on Toews last night. Was it because of Montreal home ice?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:48 PM)

Verus and Roenick did a good job slowing it down...ref did not put up his arm right away..Roenick said the fans reaction behind the play made a differnece..I think it was the fact the hawks kept posession of the puck..once he saw the habs didnt have it, the arm went up...thats wrong...anyway, Sports illustrated did a study and concluded biggest home "field" advantage came down to refs being influenced by home crowd..i guess human nature

Keith (FIB in WI)

Speaking of Ben Smith, what's his make-up...good character guy? Is he skating in practice?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:50 PM)

Dont know him too well..but yeah, nice enough guy, good wheels...tough to jump into a spot like this..prob wont play tonight

BK Lounge (Minneapolis)

How about Sharp/Kruger/Kane and Hossa/Toews/Kopy (or VS)?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:51 PM)

Its possible...then toews line is the defensive one that can still score...depends if kruger can keep up..he could not last night

Bill (Chicago)

It seemed like MTL dominated us in 4-4 play last night...with Toews, Hossa, Seabrook and Keith on the ice I would think we should have the edge there. What gives?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:52 PM)

Yeah, they didnt get the puck the way you'd like and so they were chasing and looked bad. usually pretty good 4 on 4 not last night though

Jesse Rogers
  (1:53 PM)

BTW, just heard from league..."following up on turco to understand the circumstances but wouldnt call it a formal investigation."

Jim (Chicago)

Nice to see Sopel again versus Montreal, he always seemed like a good guy. Do you think the Hawks have missed him this year?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:54 PM)

Not really but there are parts to his game, sure they could use...I mean they had a very good PK last yr and he was part of it..this year not so much...he was willing to block shots cause that kept him on the ice..not sure you want seabrook blocking shots..so there is a lot that goes into it but sopel had some issues 5 on 5..

John (West Loop)

JR - What are your keys to the Hawks getting 2 tonight?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:55 PM)

I know it soudns cliche..dictate the pace..make the blues skate with them..and you do that by outworking..short shifts, up and down the ice, move it!

Liam B. (The Chi)

In my opinion Corey Crawford has really gone above and beyond what anyone could have expected at the start of the season. That being said, do you see this team in any better shape then they are in now if Antti Niemi were still on the team?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:57 PM)

The only thinf I'd say is if either one of those guys started at the beginnig of this year they would have a few more wins...now, maybe crawford needed to ease into the job so maybe hes not as good if hes the starter from day one. who know. that would not have been the case I dont think with niemi this yr since he was riding high, etc. so yes, they would be a little better if either had started from day one i believe...no crystal ball though

Jenny (Pittsburgh)

Where do you see the Blackhawks being seeded after the dust settles after the weekend? And how do you like that first round matchup?

Jesse Rogers
  (1:58 PM)

I thought they would finish no worse than 7th a few weeks ago so Ill say 7th but not confident about that...i like det. more than the other choices..would be great series..7 games in my opinion

Ed Koperski (Tucson)

Any way Madden comes back to Chicago next year? He is really missed in my mind

Jesse Rogers
  (1:58 PM)

Suppose anything is possible for 500k

Darren Pang (St Louis)

Jesse, who is the better goalie- Niemi or Crawford?

Jesse Rogers
  (2:00 PM)

Not biased here...they are both good..crawford might be better but one guy won a cup..not easy to do at all...so right now niemi becasue we KNOW he can handle it..dont see why craw cant though but known wins over unknown...niemi been great since dec. close call

Jesse Rogers
  (2:00 PM)

meant craw might be better in near future

Harold (Washington, DC)

Where is Jake Dowell's game right now? What does the coaching staff think of him?

Jesse Rogers
  (2:02 PM)

Yikes. In rockford? cheap shot, I know. Not a lot of confidence in him right now..where is the edge in these guys? not talking about fighting..talking about forecheck, etc. Hes barely staying on the ice

Ricky K (Riverwoods)

How bad is Pisani? He seems absolutely useless out there. Why not have John Scott dress to make sure no body pushes Kane/Towes/Stalberg around.

Jesse Rogers
  (2:03 PM)

Not a big fan..sure the hawks would say he's a reliable NHL player but big deal..can find those who can add more..scott in tonight..I like scott on 4th line..really do. call me crazy

George (Chicago)

Do you see Detroit giving 110% to keep the Hawks out of the playoffs? Given that we match up decently, I'm worried they come out swinging this weekend to avoid playoff matchup...

Jesse Rogers
  (2:03 PM)

I dont think det cares. I see Det doing what's best for det. resting guys etc.

Matt (Chicago)

Is Truco back next year you think?

Jesse Rogers
  (2:04 PM)

Not unless he wants to be a backup here for 500k..and maybe not even then

Jerry (Macomb, IL)

Will Bolland be ready for the playoffs? Don't think the Hawks make it out of the first round without him.

Jesse Rogers
  (2:05 PM)

Again, NO ONE KNOWS WHEN BOLLAND IS COMING BACK..NOT THE HAWKS,HIS AGENT, NOT HIM...so I dont know either

Wink (Plainfield)

Seems like Soupy has very little interest in shooting the puck anymore... looking to pass almost 100% of the time. What gives?

Jesse Rogers
  (2:06 PM)

Ive seen him shoot some with that big windup..worried it gets blocked maybe?? sometimes these guys look for the perfect play when shooting would create a chance so I understand what you are saying

Al (Seattle)

Seabs is obviously gonna lose the 'A' when Sharp returns, but do you possibly see him keeping it, instead of maybe Duncs next season?

Jesse Rogers
  (2:07 PM)

Nah, cant see them stripping anyone of a letter...always a chance keith says he doesnt want to concentrate on hockey...doubt it but you never know

University of Denver Student (Denver, CO)

Writing a textual analysis paper regarding a specific fan-produced text/website/blog, and the focus is on your Blackhawks Blog. Do you consider yourself a Blackhawks fan? Jesse Rogers
  (2:08 PM)

Sure, Im a fan but thats not how I report...Spell check is what I use. :) Email me.

Tom (Tinley Park)

Heard Foley say that Dowell is not 100% and has not been for a while, is this part of his effort issue?

Jesse Rogers
  (2:09 PM)

Hes got like 40 stitches but hasnt missed a practice so dont think hes that bad

Jesse Rogers
