Here to answer a few questions in a few. Appreciate everyone reading the site.
Will Quinn Cook and Seth Curry be able to get the Plumlees involved for Duke?
Why not? Austin Rivers though will have the ball in his hands quite a bit.
Is this something Wildcat fans are going to have to get used to in Tucson? With schools like UNC, Duke, Uconn, Syracuse & Louisville having aging coaches that are coming towards the end of their coaching careers, is Sean Miller going to be a coach these schools will target? Or is it safe to assume that Sean Miller will have a reign similar to Coach Olson?
At this point, the one job that might lure Miller away is Pitt. But I don't see Jamie Dixon going anywhere. I can see how Tom Jurich would try to lure him away to Louisville if Rick Pitino retired. Kentucky is always an option if John Calipari left. But these are all things that could occur in the future. Not going to Maryland was a big indicator he wants to stay at Arizona.
How is the lost of Harris and Hopson going to help or hurt the Tennessee basketball program.
Well, the answer is significantly in the short term. Cuonzo Martin will have to recruit extremely well in the near future.
What is a possible lineup for kentucky and who will win that early game between UNC and UK?
Well, the edge will go to Kentucky since the Wildcats are hosting (arguably the toughest ticket in the November-December time period). As for Kentucky, I would anticipate that Marquis Teague, Anthony Davis, Michael Gilchrist, Darius Miller and Terrence Jones have a solid shot at starting.
What are your thoughts on the new rule changes, specifically the "no charge" zone under the basket?
I like it. I think it will help define the area much easier for the officials.
What should I take away from the number of recent Gonzaga transfers (7 in the past year and half)? Poor recruiting, poor player development or the evolution of a program where there simply aren't enough minutes to go around?
I wouldn't read too much into it. Gonzaga is doing fine. The Goodson transfer doesn't mean much.
Andy - what are you hearing with respect to Mark Turgeon to Maryland?
Here is my story on the site: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=6515713
Thoughts on Jeff Capel hire at Duke? Kind of crazy that he is currently the coach with the third most wins in the ACC... as a head coach, and he is third coach off the bench at Duke.
Solid hire. He'll obviously fit in quite well on the bench in familiar territory. The Duke staff just got even more experienced.
What are your predictions for the BIG XII next year? Baylor's time to finally win it?
Well, the Bears certainly have as good a chance as any. Perry Jones III will make them a major force in the Big 12, especially with what they have returning.
What are your thoughts on how the timing of Gary Williams retirement affects the Terps' coaching search? I would think that many coaches who would have taken a look a month ago, either have new jobs already or have really turned over to next year in earnest with their old ones. Given what Williams did for the program, he deserved the freedom to retire whenever he wanted, but waiting so long could have hurt the search for a replacement.
No problem with the search so far. If it's Turgeon then the Terps got a terrific basketball coach.
How does jeremy green's decision affect Stanford's chances of getting into the tournament next season? If they dont get into the NCAAs, is Dawkins out as coach or will Stanford give him another year?
It affects it greatly. No Green means no NCAAs.
Can you explain the Jeff Capel hiring to me? Why would Coach K hire Capel as an assistant coach, knowing that he may be a head coach within one year?
Well, Capel was unemployed. That's what head coaches do to help out former players and assistants.
how do you think michigan will do even with the loss of darrius morris?
There is still enough talent to be a top 25 team and a top three team in the Big Ten.
Andy, Is the maryland job going to be filled soon? Who ends up there?
Yes. But it is funny that the news conference announcing Gary Williams' retirement was only Friday. That's not that long.
Andy, in your opinion, which program has the most upside, GT, UVA or ILL?
Illinois. Not close.
What NBA Team do you think that Jimmer Fredette will play for in 2011-2012?
Utah or Pheonix.
There are rumors that Mark Turgeon will be the next coach at Maryland. Would this be a good hire for the Terps and can hetake advantage of the recruiting situation in the Baltimore/DC Area?
Yes. Very, very good coach.
Assuming Calhoun stays for next year, I don't see him leaving until Ollie is truly ready to take over. How long do you think that will take?
Yes. And it would probably be in the fall, either in 2011, 2012 or 2013
Then what is the better program in your opinion? Arizona or Maryland?
Maryland has better recruiting bases. Arizona is probably more unique with less competition. Close call.
Andy...you left Rob Sacre out of your discussion of Gonzaga. Do you think with him in mind that we might move a little higher in your preseason Top 25? Or does the loss of two veteran guards do most of the damage?
I shouldn't have. I like this Gonzaga team next season as one of the best in the West.
Who will take A&M job if Turgeon leaves?
That is a good question. I know the Aggies would target Buzz Williams of Marquette. Not sure they would get him but that would be No. 1 target.
Thanks for the questions.
