Bill Williamson
  (2:00 PM)

Hi everyone, let's get rolling.

Bill Williamson
  (2:00 PM)

Hi everyone, let's get rolling.

Stephen (Ann Arbor, MI)

Hey Bill. Great work. I love Weapon-X. Will Brian Dawkins retire before he hits 40?

Bill Williamson
  (2:01 PM)

Thanks, he'll be 38 this season. This could be it.

Noel (denver)

Hey Bill, how good a team would Denver had if it added Barry Cofield , Michael Bush and Charles Johnson to the team? Could it make the Playoffs?

Bill Williamson
  (2:02 PM)

It's be imrpoved in key areas, but I don't know about the playoffs. There's a lot of very good teams in the AFC.

josh jacksonville, fl [via mobile]

Bill, I'm starting to get frustrated with this lockout. Sounds like no one truly wants a deal to get done. Am I crazy?

Bill Williamson
  (2:03 PM)

No, I don't think you are crazy.

JP (Denver)

Ranking helmets...really? We need some football

Bill Williamson
  (2:03 PM)

Yes, we do. But we can have a little fun once in a while, can't we?

JustJoe (Winston Salem, NC)

Bill,Is there a undrafted QB that the Raiders are interested in?

Bill Williamson
  (2:04 PM)

The best one may be Deleware's Pat Devlin.

Andrew (Washington, DC)

What's the story with Demaryius Thomas? He looked like a real #1 threat at times when he was healthy last season. Will he be ready to open up the Broncos passing game this year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:05 PM)

He tore his Achilles in Feb. He will miss, at least, half the season. So, it will be tough to count on him.

Steve (Colorado)

8 sacks: what is the over/user for Von Miller?

Bill Williamson
  (2:06 PM)

He's a rook. I'll go under, slightly.

Roberto (Atlanta)

The AFC West seems to be getting stronger and stronger. Do you think this division will be one of the tougher ones to face in the near future?

Bill Williamson
  (2:07 PM)

Not quite yet, but it's getting better. It's closer to the middle of the pack than it was a couple of years ago.

Victor (Sacramento, CA)

Tebow-sighting in Denver!! In your opinion, is he the long-term answer for the Broncos, or will we have to take a long hard look ar Luck if in that position next year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:09 PM)

It's too early to tell long-term. But I do think he should start this year. We know what the Bronocs were with Orton. Give Tebow a chance. If he fails, then you have your answer and Denver can move on. If he plays well, Dnever would also have its answer.

Michael (Montana)

I read the piece stating the ravens where after safety Rahim Moore. The Ravens are pretty good at scouting d talent, what's your thoughts on this pick by Denver?

Bill Williamson
  (2:11 PM)

I mentioned that in a blog. You can't argue with Baltimore's ability to scout defensive players. If the Ravens liked Moore, that's a good sign.

Becky (Yes a women can like football)

I know that next years draft is not set up yet...but if the season never happens what will they do? will they have a draft? how will they determine the draft order?

Bill Williamson
  (2:13 PM)

Welcome, Becky, the league hasn't said much, because I don't think they want to even consinder a season without football. But the 2011 draft order could be the way it goes if that terrible scenario unfolds.

BMAC (Albuquerque)

How much will the lockout hurt Tebow's development to becoming a starter? Is Orton a lock to start in Sept. (assuming the lockout ends before then) simply because of hs experience ?

Bill Williamson
  (2:15 PM)

The longer the lockout goes, the better the chances of Orton being in Denver. If lockout ends just a couple of weeks before the season starts, it may be difficult to get Tebow ready and it may be diffuclt to find a trading partner for Orton.

Roberto (Atlanta)

Are there any potential free-agent Panthers that John Fox might try and lure to Denver?

Bill Williamson
  (2:16 PM)

It all depends on who free agency is desinged. There's Charles Johnson and DeAngelo Williams that stand out if the circumstance is right.

Victor (Sacramento, CA)

Im sure you're fed up with the lockout, but I just bought tickets to the season finale in Denver against KC. Should I hold off on booking my flight?

Bill Williamson
  (2:16 PM)

I'm an optimist. Book it ... at your own risk, of course.

bobby (overland park, ks)

Love the blog Bill. I was wondering if the rookies this year are able to have contact with the veterans that are organizing workouts. It would greatly benefit them, especially if they were a raider, considering Seymour organizing the professional workouts.

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

Thanks, Bobby. Yes, the rookies can work out with the vets. If I was a rookie, I'd be doing whatever the veterans tell me these days.

Ed (San Diego)

What type of year do you see out of Ryan Mathews? When he was on the field he was pretty good, especially at the end of the year.

Bill Williamson
  (2:18 PM)

I like him. But he has to stay healthy. That's the key for this kid.

Manny (Las Vegas)

I saw your blog post about Knowshon Moreno's lack off burst and also your ranking of him as 8 out of 9 in the division. I think your looking past the fact that he suffered through a Josh McDaniels system. McDaniels blew up the o-line and always made it obvious when we would run the ball. Shouldn't you wait and see what Fox does with Moreno before you right him off?

Bill Williamson
  (2:19 PM)

Sure, but right now, I have him 8th. He's earned it.

Mike Cook (Rancho Cucamonga)

Hey Bill , Great work covering the AFC WEST. I wanted to know what do you think about the Raiders having their lockout workouts, and do you think it's worth the risk of the possibility of player injuries?? thanks GO RAIDERS

Bill Williamson
  (2:20 PM)

Thanks, Mike, It is risky, but the Raiders' four-day camp will be at a facility so there will be soem pros there. So, that makes me fell better. But the injury risk is always there.

Travis (Nevada City CA)

Bill- What do you think the chances Ricky Stanzi takes the starting job from Cassel? With all the extra pressure on Cassel to take that next step hes going to try to extend plays witch might get him injured leaving the pocket. If Stanzi gets a shot at some playing time how does he fair?

Bill Williamson
  (2:21 PM)

I think the chance is sero for 2011. It's more of a 2013 thing.

Seddrick (Richmond ca)

If the raiders don't retain Michael huff is there a possibility Mike Mitchell starts at free safety?

Bill Williamson
  (2:23 PM)

He's a third-year player, so I think he will get a chance to play more on defense in whatever role he earns.

jose (los angeles)

what round compensatory picks will the raiders get if they lose asomugha and huff?

Bill Williamson
  (2:23 PM)

For sure, a third for Asomugha, probbaly a thrid, but maybe a fourth for Huff.

Ryan X. Allred (Lynnwood, WA)

Bill, Even though I live in the Pacific Northwest I am a diehard Raiders fan. My question is this. What's your opinion of the Oakland Raiders and their 2011 draft? Can you see any of these guys, with the exception of Wisniewski who should start, helping the team this year? Or was this another Al Davis reach for speed?

Bill Williamson
  (2:24 PM)

The two corners and the LSU tackle have a chance to play, but all will have to earn their rookie playing time.

Bryce (Shorewood, IL)

With the Miami fans showing Orton some love, does Denver finally pull the trigger, when able, for a 3rd and a 5th?

Bill Williamson
  (2:25 PM)

I thionk Denver would like a second for Orton, but it could take that package.

Steve (Pittsburgh)

Hey Bill, do you think that Lamar Houston has a shot to make the Pro Bowl this year? He come on strong in the second have of the season this past year.

Bill Williamson
  (2:28 PM)

That's a tough position to break through at. There are a lot of studs there. He's a fine player, but it may take a year or two for him to make the Pro Bowl.

Roberto (Atlanta)

What do you think of the Broncos switching back to the orange uniforms in 2012? Broncos Country is getting motivated with Tebow-mania, the Orange Crush return, and the overall transparency of the organization.

Bill Williamson
  (2:29 PM)

It only matters if those orange jerseys are worn by good players.

Andrew Luck (waiting)

Do you think I would like to go to Denver and meet up with John Elway or do I care where I go?

Bill Williamson
  (2:29 PM)

You go to Stanford. I think you can answer that question on your own.

Corey (D.C.)

Have you given up on Chaz Schilens?

Bill Williamson
  (2:30 PM)

No. But it's time he shows he can stay healthy.

Adam (Nashvegas again)

Bill, card games or board games (hey, we all need to have some lighter moments)

Bill Williamson
  (2:30 PM)

Card.

Chris Duran (Mission Viejo, CA)

Hey Bill, I've been dying for another Charger Super Bowl Run for years and think Rivers can do it, but they just don't seem to have enough to win it all. Do you think they have a better team coming in this year assuming they keep the free agents they want?

Bill Williamson
  (2:32 PM)

I don't expect them to do a ton in free agency, because A.J. Smith is always careful in free agency. But the Chargers got depth in the draft. I think the key is health and a resurgence on special teams. If that happens, this team should win a lot of games.

Lynn (Denver)

Brandon Lloyd - i want to believe in the guy, but I'm really worried he's a one hit wonder. What do you see out of him? A repeat campaign or slipping back into mediocre receiver with some of the best catches of the last decade?

Bill Williamson
  (2:33 PM)

He has had just one good NFL season, but it was very good and he's comfortable in Denver. I expect him to play well in 2011. It may not be as special as last season, but he should be solid.

Brad (Iowa)

What do you think about Richard Seymore paying for the teams 4 day mini camp?

Bill Williamson
  (2:34 PM)

Great move by Seymour. How can you not like it?

Mike (San Diego)

Does DHB finally become a backup this year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:37 PM)

If he doesn't improve quickly, I think he should be. I think Oakland would be better off with Ford and Murphy. It's all about production.

Lawrence (Kansas City)

I don't expect Thomas Jones back after next season, do you see anyone in next year's draft who you feel could take on his role or do you think that Jackie Battle should get a shot?

Bill Williamson
  (2:38 PM)

I think Jones will be back for one more season.

Roberto (Atlanta)

Brandon Lloyd, Eddie Royal, Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Jabar Gaffney, and some pretty talented practice squaders. Do the Broncos have one of the deepest WR groups in the league?

Bill Williamson
  (2:42 PM)

No, because it fairly unproven.

Brad (Iowa)

Do you think Al can live till 100?

Bill Williamson
  (2:43 PM)

I wouldn't put it past him.

David (Ireland)

What type of defense should i expect to see from the Raiders under their new defensive coordinator, thanks.

Bill Williamson
  (2:44 PM)

Agrresive, tough. Maybe a little mean.

steve (Pittsburgh)

Hey Bill, do you think Tiawan Jones can be a great sleeper this year? I watched some film on the kid and he can definiely fly.

Bill Williamson
  (2:46 PM)

I liked the Taiwan Jones pickup. He's a speedster. Big time. But he has to stay healthy, make the big transition to the NFL from a small school and stop fumbling. But he has some skills.

Roberto (Atlanta)

In lieu of the Marcell Dareus' comments, do you think the Broncos should have taken him or was Von Miller the better pick?

Bill Williamson
  (2:47 PM)

Why just because he said something? That makes him better than Miller? I'm not saying Dareus isn't the better player, but anyone can say anything. It doesn't mean it's the truth. Would it make you feell better if Miller said Denver didn't make a mistake?Talk is cheap.

Neil (redondo beach, ca)

Hi Bill, what are the chances of Steve Smith landing in San Diego once the lock out is over. It seems like SD is going to lose either Floyd or Nanee, and who knows if Crayton will be ready for a possible season, does this look like a good option for SD to bring in a much needed veteran 2nd receiver for Rivers to throw to?

Bill Williamson
  (2:50 PM)

I think there may be some mutual interest between Smith and the Chargers. But I don't think it's a life-or-death thing for the Chargers. They like him, I don't think they love him.

Al (Wausau, WI)

Bill, Philip Rivers had quite a season last year! Do you feel he may be poised for another great season in 2011 (assuming the season starts relatively close to "on time")?

Bill Williamson
  (2:52 PM)

I have no worries about Philip Rivers. He's primed.

Sean (Hamilton)

Hey Bill, which Raider do you expect to make the most improvement this year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:52 PM)

There's a lot, but I expect Veldheer to make good strides.

Daylon (Wyoming)

I have been reading/watching alot about Nate Irving, and there is talk about his being our starting MLB. Any word about that?

Bill Williamson
  (2:53 PM)

I think that's the plan right now.

Corey (D.C.)

Why isnt Oakland mentioned more in the Kevin Kolb talks? They seem to be promising in every area except QB, and to me Kolb is in the Rich Gannon mold.

Bill Williamson
  (2:54 PM)

They'd rather give Campbell the year to prove himself rather than sell the famr for Kolb. It's the right call.

Anthony (Los Angeles)

How close are the Raiders to being the Top team in the AFC?

Bill Williamson
  (2:54 PM)

There's an awful lot of good teams in the AFC.

Lakeysha Beard (Oakland)

Why are you disrespecting me, Bill? I feel disrespected by you for not answering my question. I am being disrespected a lot lately.

Bill Williamson
  (2:55 PM)

No hard feelings. I get a ton of questions. Keep trying.

Scott (Northglenn, CO)

Is the thought that on passing downs, the Broncos front 4 will include Elvis, Von Miller and Ayers kicking in?

Bill Williamson
  (2:56 PM)

Yes, that's the plan in Denver.

FCB (CO)

Bill, What's your assessment of AJ Smith as a GM? Do you think his dogmatic anti-high $$ FA approach is an impediment to the Bolts making a decent run in the playoffs?

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

He's built a pretty solid team. I know some people are put off by him, but he's built a winner for the most part.

Corey (D.C.)

Re: Kolb. I respectfully disagree with you. Campbell is like Orton, decent fill-in guys, but wouldnt you rather be agressive and have a losing season than play it safe and settle for 8-8 every year? Kolb is an unknown, and yes it would be a risk, but with Campbell you are locked in to mediocrity. I think fans would prefer taking risks, given the potential rewards they see other aggresive teams reaping.

Bill Williamson
  (2:58 PM)

The Raiders like and believe in Campbell. That's all that matters.

Lawrence (Kansas City)

Do you think Dwayne Bowe will repeat his 2010 performance on the field?

Bill Williamson
  (2:59 PM)

I think the presence of Baldwin will help Bowe, because there are other matchup issues. I expect another solid year by Bowe.

Brad (Iowa)

Who should the Raiders bring in to be the backup QB? VY possibly?

Bill Williamson
  (3:00 PM)

I wouldn't be shocked to see Young being considered at some point, But I know Hue Jackson likees Kyle Boller as a backup.

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

Great hour, folks. I'm out next week, so talk to you in early June. Be safe.BW.
