Chat with Keith Law

Klaw
  (1:04 PM)

Four days to go until I sleep...

John (Jersey)

Keith. Will you be posting one final mock draft before Monday?

Klaw
  (1:05 PM)

Two. One tomorrow, one Monday morning. Will update during the day Monday as warranted. And I'll be even more active than usual on Twitter on Monday so I can get stuff out faster.

David (Los Angeles)

Would you agree that Gerrit Cole doesn't throw his changeup enough?

Klaw
  (1:05 PM)

Yes.

Ray A. (San Francisco, CA)

Have you seen a lot of Wyoming Outfielder Brandon Nimmo? Could he be a sleeper like Mike Trout was?

Klaw
  (1:06 PM)

Yes. Not as polished as Trout. Very athletic. A little concerned about the knee tendinitis lingering so long after ACL surgery.

Allen (Chicago)

What are you thinking, as of now, that Kansas City winds up doing at #5? Rumors with them seem to be all over the place - lots of reports of them saying they want a college pitcher, but also persistent Francisco Lindor rumors, and Starling buzz won't die. Is being that misleading something teams do intentionally? If so, why?

Klaw
  (1:07 PM)

College arm. Or maybe Bundy, who is like a college arm. Not on Lindor. Starling is too far away for them.

Naughty by Nature (The 90's)

You down with OBP?

Klaw
  (1:07 PM)

Yeah, you know me.

Matt (KC)

Are you like Mel Kiper in that if we name someone obscure that is from some small school that you'll know who it is when no one else on earth does?

Klaw
  (1:07 PM)

Not that likely. I try to focus my efforts on the premium guys - that's where the value comes from in the MLB draft, and that means it's where the value is for most readers.

BD (DC)

If you were Matt Purke's advisor, what would you suggest he do? Should be pull a Renaudo?

Klaw
  (1:08 PM)

Depends on how the shoulder feels (and what the doctors say), but yes, pitching somewhere over the summer would be better than sitting at home and hoping someone overpays me for an 84 mph fastball.

Jack (Boston)

Is Tyler Beede from Lawrence Academy a legitimate 1st round pick, or is he heavily benefitting from pitching against high school kids in Massachusetts?

Klaw
  (1:09 PM)

Legit. Very polished, good frame, still projectable, four pitches with command ... I'm a big fan.

Pedro (St. Lou)

Any idea where Josh Bell will go?

Klaw
  (1:09 PM)

Two teams I hear the most are the Red Sox and the Tigers. Detroit for $6 million is a widespread rumor right now.

JimBeau (Left Coast)

Hi Keith, thanks for the chat! Can't wait for the draft to start. Best bat in 10 years: Bell, Baez, Nimmo?

Klaw
  (1:10 PM)

Pure bat? Bell.

noah (la)

I have seen you peg the Dodgers for a first round bat. Do you think Logan still goes away from the high school arm that he always takes in the first round?

Klaw
  (1:10 PM)

I'm hearing Robert Stephenson, RHP, there very strongly. And am hearing they can't go over slot on any pick.

Michael (AZ)

Keith, since we are so concerned with draft first rounders, can you give us an idea of their success rate in the past? What percentage turn into solid MLB players, All-Stars, etc.?

Klaw
  (1:12 PM)

It's been a while since I've seen an updated study on the subject - I think the success rates for HS pitchers are improving as we stop working them into early graves - but well more than half of first rounders will see the majors and, eyeballing it, I'd guess 1/3 of them turn into above-average regulars or more.

McTrolly (Honk Konk)

So Keith, when can we expect the first 2012 mock?

Klaw
  (1:12 PM)

May 15th, 2012, give or take a week.

@Jaypers413 (IL)

How signable is Derek Fisher, and which round do you see him getting popped in?

Klaw
  (1:13 PM)

Tough sign, hearing $2 million or more, strong commitment to UVA. I think he slides and someone makes a run at signing him in August. Risky kid with big raw power.

Anthony (NYC)

Any chance Nimmo's demands will make him fall to #51?

Klaw
  (1:15 PM)

In theory, yes, but I bet the Mets would pop him at 44 if he even gets that far. Tampa, Toronto also linked to him some (as they're linked to everyone since they have so many picks).

Matt (Kansas City, MO)

Who's the best amateur you've seen who turned to another sport, such as a HS guy that chose football in college?

Klaw
  (1:15 PM)

I don't see many of those guys because I concentrate on guys we know are playing baseball. But a few scouts have mentioned Jake Locker as an answer to that question.

Scott (Chicago)

What are your thoughts on the new food pyramid; I mean new food "plate"?

Klaw
  (1:18 PM)

You mean that thing that major food processors helped put together? Yeah, I'll take care of my own diet, thanks.

Chief Wahoo (Banks of the Mighty Cuyahoga)

Can we get a little love? Its June 2 and we're still in 1st!

Klaw
  (1:19 PM)

Outscored in the month of May (even with the 14 runs vs Mazzaro!). Funny how that happens when the competition improves.

Justin (Evansville)

Does Lindor make it to the Padres and if so, do you think they would take him? Also, what have you read recently that you could recommend? Thank you sir!

Klaw
  (1:20 PM)

50/50 that he gets there. Don't think they take him.

Tim (New York)

Is there any chance Brett Lawrie hits consistently at the major league level this year?

Klaw
  (1:21 PM)

Yes.

Klaw
  (1:21 PM)

Yes.

Klaw
  (1:21 PM)

Yes.

McTrolly (Honk Konk)

Why are you against an international draft?

Klaw
  (1:22 PM)

Terrible for the game. Will drive athletes in other countries away from baseball. Putting Puerto Rico in the draft dramatically hurt the sport down there.

Josh (Baltimore, MD)

Does Rendon fall to the Orioles at #4? I really have this feeling his injury concerns might allow it. I hope the O's dont pass on a college player like Hultzon, Bauer or Cole

Klaw
  (1:22 PM)

Highly doubt it. I believe they take Bundy unless Cole is there, in which case I think they lean him.

John (Cincinnati)

Speaking of drafts, were you shocked that Jay Bruce wasn't selected in ESPN's "start a franchise" draft?

Klaw
  (1:23 PM)

I know who went 1, and who I picked ... and that's all I know. I have a lot of questions about this thing but I'm not spending any time on it.

adam (baltimore)

what were the orioles thinking when they took hobgood in 09?

Klaw
  (1:24 PM)

I think they overvalued his makeup. He did have two above-average pitches and I don't think he had any enhanced risk of a shoudler injury, but he was a slight reach at that point with Wheeler and Matzek still on the board.

Jason (Phoenix)

Hi Keith, is there any chance the Dbacks would pass on Hultzen if he were there at #3?

Klaw
  (1:25 PM)

If Bauer's there, my understanding is that they'd have a serious debate. And not out of the question they take Starling, although that seems increasingly less likely.

Nate (KC)

Obviously I'd prefer that he never had the health issues, but I think it's pretty cool that Rocco Baldelli is now working as a scout for the Rays.

Klaw
  (1:25 PM)

Met him a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely blew me away. You don't hear enough about scouting stars but he's a top prospect in that field.

Jonathan (Tampa, FL)

Who would you take if you had the first pick? Money is no issue.

Klaw
  (1:26 PM)

Cole. That top 100 ranking I put out (and will update once more on saturday) is exactly what you're asking: Who would I take, in what order, ignoring signability.

Dusty (KC)

Do you think Kyrie Irving will still go #1 or will there be a surprise?

Klaw
  (1:26 PM)

I think you're going to be very surprised, yes.

Jerome Bennet (Morris Day's Crib)

Who are the best prospects who fall from 1st round because of "signability" - and which of those, in your most semihumble opinion, end up signing anyway for big bonus $$$?

Klaw
  (1:28 PM)

The problem now is that I've got way more than 30 players looking for at least $1.5 million, so a bunch of them will "fall" because of price tags ... but some of them weren't going in the first round anyway. Players are asking for the moon, figuring it might be the last year of unfettered bonuses, and teams are indicating they'll spend like mad, figuring the same.

Gene (Iowa)

How does one pronounce "Szczur"?

Klaw
  (1:29 PM)

"Pierre."

rich (philly)

Keith how many guys in this years draft would you consider being worthy of a 2st round pick. Please don't say 33. I am thinking guys drafted in the sandwich it 2nd that could be 1st founders.

Klaw
  (1:29 PM)

Maybe 40. Between 40 and 45.

David (Pittsburgh)

The Pirates had the worst record last season, but after the first pick don't choose again until 61, while Tampa Bay has approximately 356 picks in the interim. Does the compensation pick-system work fairly in your estimation?

Klaw
  (1:30 PM)

No, for more reasons than just that. Eliminate FA comp picks entirely.

Jack (VA)

Any chance Hultzen falls? He is asking for 13 million.

Klaw
  (1:30 PM)

Silly numbers like that just get ignored, like the Bundy/$30 million number that ran around last week.

Kevin (Redding, CA)

Thanks for the chat. Do you think either Bell or Springer will be available to the A's at 18? If so who would they prefer?

Klaw
  (1:30 PM)

Springer. They're on both, can't see them spending that much for Bell.

Chris (Winter Park, FL.)

What is the latest regarding the Nationals and who they are high on with the #6, #23, #34 picks in this deep draft?? Any chance they get Bubba Starling, Daniel Norris, and Tyler Beede with those selections?

Klaw
  (1:31 PM)

Bubba in the mix at 6. Haven't heard them on either of those prep arms.

Ananth (Gainesville FL)

Keith I am a MLB draft newbie. I look at past drafts and see so many good players being picked in the later rounds compared to the NFL or NBA. Is it because of bad scouting or teams couldnt afford to draft the players?

Klaw
  (1:31 PM)

It's because of money and the uncertainty of drafting high school players, which those other sports don't have to do. Plus the NBA draft is two rounds, so it's not like you have later rounds to compare us to.

Dane (Exton, PA)

What is a 2st round pick?

Klaw
  (1:32 PM)

Comes in the umpteenth round.

Jon V. (Cleveland, OH)

Local media is making a big deal about Carlos Santana being too selective. He is in the top 20 in the AL in OBP, but is hitting below .230. See any reason for concern with his approach?

Klaw
  (1:33 PM)

No - I hate that complaint. Much rather that than to see him up there hacking. I have no doubt he will eventually hit in a way that puts him in "best catcher in the game" discussions.

EricJ (SF)

Hit on Posey: Clean or dirty?

Klaw
  (1:33 PM)

Unnecessary.

Ryan (Ohio)

Keith, have you ever heard of Matt Wisler from Bryan, OH (signed with Ohio State for next year)? Do you think he could sneak into the first or second round? He goes to the same small high school as Red Sox 1st rounder Kolbrin Vitek from last year. Thanks.

Klaw
  (1:34 PM)

Heard he's probably a college guy. Not a first rounder at all - not even on my top 100.

5thStarter (Toronto)

Are the Jays serious about spending big? Best player available, or will they go after some easier signs?

Klaw
  (1:34 PM)

They'll spend. Can't question them after last year.

Bret (Toronto)

Do you think the Jays take Daniel Norris at #21 if available?

Klaw
  (1:37 PM)

I don't.

Studebaker (NJ)

What kind of contract would Bautista be in line for had he not signed the extension with the Jays?

Klaw
  (1:38 PM)

I know there's been speculation on how much money he left on the table ... but he'd be 31 with two years of MVP-level performance after a career of extra-guy performance. Yes, maybe someone would overpay - look at what Werth got - but can I answer with "less than you'd expect?"

Matt (DC)

If the Red Sox really are on Bell at 28, would it make sense for the Rays to try and get him at 24 since they could make up for him being a tough sign with all their other picks?

Klaw
  (1:39 PM)

Draft who you want, not who you want to keep away from someone else.

Gus (Durham)

Is Cron worth a first round pick? Supplemental for the Rays?

Klaw
  (1:39 PM)

I think first round is a stretch for a guy who may be a DH and has had injury issues. He can hit and the power is real, but I don't think he's Prince Fielder.

Jon (NYC)

I know most orgs don't draft players based on need at the major league level, but given what's going on with the Mets right now, if they draft Levi Michael at 13, would it be reasonable to interpret that as preparation for life without Reyes?

Klaw
  (1:40 PM)

No, I don't think that's fair. Am now hearing they're leaning college arm, though. That could be Jed Bradley.

Owen (Arizona)

What is the deepest position in this years draft?

Klaw
  (1:40 PM)

Right-handed pitcher.

Chris (KC)

Keith, how can owners be in favor of hard slotting when so many of them have demonstrated a willingness to ignore it - to their benefit - up until now? Or is it only some owners that feel that way, but enough to force a change?

Klaw
  (1:40 PM)

I think that MLB itself is in favor of it, but most individual teams prefer the unpoliced system today.

Studebaker (NJ)

I've read the Yankees linked to Williams Jerez in a few places. Anything you can tell me about him besides the Hank's Yanks connection and the fact he's not in your top 100?

Klaw
  (1:42 PM)

I'll write him up this weekend - have heard him linked to the Yanks and Red Sox - but there are a TON of concerns about him, including lack of track record vs better pitching. Lot of area guys I've talked to are reporting no interest, which is why he's not on my top 100.

Ryan (California)

How does Joe Ross compare to his brother Tyson? Better or worse?

Klaw
  (1:42 PM)

180 degree difference. Joe has a better delivery, is stronger, more athletic, much more likely to stay as a starter.

Bobby (South Jersey)

Going see Kevin Comer pitch tomorrow. Is he fully committed to Vanderbilt or a potential 3rd-4th rounder who will sign?

Klaw
  (1:43 PM)

I think he would require first-round money (as would most major Vandy commits ... they get their guys) and I'm not sure he'll get it. I do like him as a sandwich-round talent.

Matt Weiters (Baltimore)

Am I still an All-time bust? C'mon I'm throwing out almost 50% of base stealers

Klaw
  (1:46 PM)

Hey, I never called you that...

Grant (Wpg)

I think the name's Amir Garreth or something like that - star basketball recruit now throwing bullpen sessions for scouts. Legit prospect? Is it odd that he wouldn't play ball all spring but now apparently want to get drafted? Doesn't that make one question his desire to play on the diamond?

Klaw
  (1:48 PM)

Amir Garrett, wrote about him last week. Lot of scouts thinking this is a money grab, that he wants to get paid to play a little over the summer while he pursues the NBA at St. John's. Threw well in a few workouts and then was not good at the last one last week.

Jamie (Canada)

Have you seen teams ever "trade up" to get a player they really wanted? I know this happens in hockey drafts.

Klaw
  (1:49 PM)

I have never seen that, not once. The fact that you can't trade picks in the draft is one reason.

Ryan (Pittsburgh)

If the Pirates draft Cole, does he become their top prospect, or is it still Taillon?

Klaw
  (1:49 PM)

Cole > Taillon for me, which is no slight to Jameson.

Eric (Catasauqua, PA)

You've talked about a "Backside collapse" in George Springer's swing. Can you please elaborate on what that looks like and how it impacts a hitter's results?

Klaw
  (1:50 PM)

The "back side" for a hitter is the side of his body at the back of the batter's box, and when it collapses, it means the back shoulder drops dramatically and the back leg is bent, supporting little or no weight. It can pull a hitter's bat sharply upward and often leads to lower contact rates. There's no consensus on whether it's correctable.

Andrew (DC)

What does Vandy do differently that allows it to 'get its guys?'

Klaw
  (1:51 PM)

One, it's a great academic school, which helps (UNC & Stanford also benefit from this). Two, Vandy can point to a long list of players who've gone there and gotten better. I think Gray will be at least the fourth straight Friday night starter for them to be drafted in the first round.

Kirk (The TC)

Moustakas dropped out of your Top 50 MLB prospects list- is it because others emerged or is it his performance?

Klaw
  (1:52 PM)

Top 25. Still a top 50 guy. Probably #26 or

Ricky (NY)

Taylor Jungmann: fast riser through the minors? What would you personally put his ceiling at - #3 starter? Better than that? Thanks.

Klaw
  (1:52 PM)

I'd send him straight to AA unless my player dev guys were willing to see if he could add some velo just by lengthening his stride a little bit.

Stevo (NYC)

This time of year must be exhausting for you. Are you looking forward to the draft being over or do you love doing this?

Klaw
  (1:52 PM)

Both.

Nicholas (DC)

Have you ever heard of a team completely taking a top prospect completely off their board for whatever reason (injury, make-up, etc.)?

Klaw
  (1:54 PM)

All the time. We had several categories on our boards in Toronto including medicals (take off b/c of injury/bad report from our doctor) and "unsignable for worth" (wants more than we would be willing to pay him) sections. I think we had Buchholz off the board on makeup, but that was an unusual situation.

Chris (NYC)

What keeps your opinion on Brad Peackock below a 2/3 starter level? Will production be able to change it? Thanks

Klaw
  (1:55 PM)

I saw him in AFL and saw a one-pitch guy with iffy command. But because he started so well this year I asked around substantially ... and got back a pretty similar answer. One source said 5th starter; the others said reliever. No one said he has an above-average second pitch. I haven't seen him this year, but with no one telling me he's a 2/3 starter, I can't come to you with that opinion.

Tyler (Chico)

What is the most professionally ready college conference?

Klaw
  (1:55 PM)

1. SEC. 2. ACC/Pac 10.

Frank (LA, CA)

What bothers you more as an evaluator - missing a flaw in a player that eventually goes bust or failing to recognize something in a player who ends up being a sleeper? Or, has neither of these occurred and any deviation from your evaluation is due to changing circumstances?

Klaw
  (1:56 PM)

Both bother me, but I'm more bothered by the former, because in theory, it's like I recommended that my team spend money on a guy who turned out to be a bad investment.

Greg (Steel City)

what type of production do you see from Rendon 5 years from now?

Klaw
  (1:57 PM)

High average, high OBP, average power, plus defense.

Stephen (SC)

Where does Jackie Bradley Jr. go, and would he likely up his stock by returning for his senior season?

Klaw
  (1:57 PM)

I'm thinking sandwich round to a team with a lot of picks. He's another guy who should go to the Cape to try to reestablish some value.

Erix (Toronto)

Interesting with Toronto and Clay in that he was often discussed as being a centrepiece of a Halladay deal.

Klaw
  (1:57 PM)

It's funny how we'll overlook some makeup issues when the player proves he's really good.

Dale (Denver)

I haven't seen your take on the new and improved Juan Nicasio. Is he a legit MLB #2/3?

Klaw
  (1:58 PM)

Because I haven't seen him at all or even discussed him with enough sources, and don't feel comfortable offering a take. Post-draft I'll spend more time on pro guys.

Nikki (Maryland)

Hey Keith, I'm a UMD alum and I was wondering if there are any good Terps prospects in this year's draft. Thanks!

Klaw
  (1:59 PM)

None, sorry.

Allyson (Dallas)

Any chance Josh Bell falls to the Rangers at 33 and the Rangers pick him with the recent revelation of the letter he sent to the MLB scouting bureau?

Klaw
  (1:59 PM)

Chance he's there is high. Chance they take him there is low.

Alez (Atlanta)

Is Jason Heyward gonna be a consitant 300. 400. 500. 25+HR 15SB guy?

Klaw
  (2:00 PM)

Would be nice if he'd stay on the field a bit more.

Jason (Bothell)

Are Taijuan Walker and James Paxton going to work themselves in the Top 100 prospects at midseason?

Klaw
  (2:00 PM)

I could see both there in January, assuming they keep rolling.

Matt (DC)

Why is D.C. such a bad city for restaurants?

Klaw
  (2:00 PM)

Isn't Jose Andres there? Can't be that bad.

Nick (NJ)

Matt Harvey should be AA-bound soon, no? Have you heard any reports about his stuff?

Klaw
  (2:01 PM)

Velo fine, breaking ball better, changeup worse. I figure he, Pomeranz, Ranaudo all see promotions within the next 2-3 weeks.

Jwilyt (Wilmington)

Are you also foreliminating sandwich picks ? I understand how penalizing teams a 1st rounder for signing a player can stifle the free market. But it seems to me that compensating teams who can't afford to sign stars would be good for smaller market teams. Is my reasoning faulty?

Klaw
  (2:01 PM)

If you eliminated the arbitration requirement, I'd be fine with that - lose a star, get a sandwich pick, no arb offer required.

Pat (Seattle)

The Mariners are taking Rendon for sure right? How far away is he from being major league ready? September call-up 2012?

Klaw
  (2:03 PM)

I don't think it's certain, but it's by far the most likely. They like Starling, they like Lindor (specifically their scouting director likes Lindor), but I doubt they pass on Rendon.

Alex (Atlanta)

I've asked this in past chats but never gotten an answer. Do you know anything about Brock Bennett of the Crimson Tide? Former unrecruited walk-on that's worked his butt off to turn himself into a legit starter at an SEC school, but still almost no power at all. Is his defense at catcher good enough to earn him a chance in pro baseball, or is the bat too weak to be anything more than organizational filler at best?

Klaw
  (2:03 PM)

Org guy. Sorry.

Allyson (Dallas)

You don't believe the Rangers would take a chance that the home town kid in Bell would be willing to sign with the Rangers at pick 33? I mean his mom teaches a block away from the Ballpark in Arlington at UTA.

Klaw
  (2:04 PM)

I don't. Hometown discounts are discussed often and occur rarely.

Paul (Atlanta)

Ranaudo was just promoted to Salem this past week.

Klaw
  (2:04 PM)

Well there you go.

Dave (NJ)

You mentioned Guiness cupcakes on the podcast, any chance you'll post the recipe on the Dish?

Klaw
  (2:04 PM)

http://meadowparty.com/blog/?p=580

Nicholas (DC)

Are Taylor Guerrieri's makeup issue significant enough to keep him off a team's draft board?

Klaw
  (2:05 PM)

Off? No. Dropped slightly? Yes. I think those will push him out of the top 15 even though on talent he belongs there.

Justin (Nashville)

Any chance Tim Wilken makes another big time reach pick for the Cubs? Hayden Simpson right now isn't looking too hot.

Klaw
  (2:06 PM)

I wasn't on the Simpson pick, but it's not fair to Wilken to bury the kid already. Simpson had a horrible case of mono, lost a lot of weight, missed instructs, and doesn't have all his strength back. Way, way too soon to crush that pick.

Matt (Albany, NY)

How did the Greg Reynolds pick now make the list of worst top 10 picks? Passed on Longoria and Lincecum

Klaw
  (2:07 PM)

And I've heard scouting director Bill Schmidt wanted Longoria but was overruled.

Jimmy (Boston)

When doing the baseball today podcast, are you all in the same room?

Klaw
  (2:07 PM)

No - an hour in a room with Karabell, three times a week? That's a dealbreaker.

Brendan (Seattle)

Cardinals called up Maikel Cleto today. Does he actually have the secondary stuff to stick around?

Klaw
  (2:08 PM)

Control has improved dramatically. Slider came and went - mostly went - when I saw him last year.

Chris (Chicago)

Is it possible the Rays decide to drop $20MM on this draft and go BPA on every selection?

Klaw
  (2:08 PM)

$20MM seems stiff, but I keep hearing they're taking BPA whenever possible.

David (KC)

On Vandy, what are the odds that Esposito tops the $1.5M signing bonus that he backed out of from KC in 2008?

Klaw
  (2:08 PM)

Don't see it - and I was told that that number was merely discussed, never formally offered.

Sam (DC)

How do you project Lindor as a hitter? I read an article by Churchill that said scouts raved about his hitting from both sides of the plate. Your take...

Klaw
  (2:09 PM)

Definite shortstop, average to slightly above-average hitter, not sold on the power.

Mick (Chicago)

I watched the Big East touney championship game to get a look at St. John's shortstop Joe Panik. The color guy (ex Notre Damer) really liked him and said he is a five tooler playing the toughest position on the field. Will he be a high pick and do you agree w/ his opinion?

Klaw
  (2:10 PM)

That's great. I wonder what five tools he's talking about. (Panik = utility guy for me, some teams like him as an everyday SS, could see him going in sandwich round.)

Jason (St Louis)

Does Pete Kozma being called up to replace Nick Punto justify the high draft choice on him a couple years back? I say no.

Klaw
  (2:11 PM)

No.

Jason (St Louis)

Are you going to chat the day of the draft? Day after maybe?

Klaw
  (2:11 PM)

Probably both. I usually do both. Depends a little on TV - I'll be in Bristol both days, TV is up in the air for Monday. Tuesday night at 9 pm EDT we're doing a one-hour Draft Special with Buster, Tim, and myself as analysts.

Nate (KC)

Read that you got an iPad; I'll be getting one this weekend, mainly to replace heavy, heavy textbooks while I'm in college. Do you have a favorite recipe/cooking app? I could see it being very handy in the kitchen as well.

Klaw
  (2:12 PM)

I haven't done much with it yet - just got the thing yesterday - but I need to get Ruhlman's Ratio app.

Andrew (SF)

Could you elaborate on the concerns about Moustakas' bat? Why does Montero get the small sample size/long track record pass despite his struggles, while Mous doesn't? Thanks Keith.

Klaw
  (2:12 PM)

Concern on Moustakas' track record is that he did a lot of it in very good hitters' parks, especially for LH power bats. That's something I heard quite a bit in conversations over the weekend.

Jake (DC)

Any chance Cole is there at #6? 2%? 1%?

Klaw
  (2:13 PM)

I don't think Baltimore AND Kansas City pass on him.

Chuck (Arkansas)

Why did you choose "Meadowparty"?

Klaw
  (2:14 PM)

Don't blame me. I voted for Bill n' Opus.

Klaw
  (2:15 PM)

Thanks for the questions - back to the phones and the writeups. If you're not on Twitter ... get on it, at least for the next five days, and follow me at @keithlaw for frequent draft updates and links. Or follow my fan page at facebook.com/KeithLawWriter. Any time I post something, I'll link to it in both places to get it to you faster. I'll be back on Monday for one last draft preview chat.
