Thanks for joining me to chat Mavs in the Finals. Let's get right to it.
Why did they not run more set plays for Jason Terry to get him going in the second half?
Set plays probably aren't the answer when LeBron James is on Jason Terry, although expect the Mavs to try to run Jet off a lot more screens in Game 2. What the Mavs need to do is get him transition opportunities. He's one of the best pull-up jump shooters and he's deadly on catch-and-shoot transition 3s. But the Mavs can't run if they can't rebound. Slashing the Heat's offensive rebound total might be the best way to get Jet going.
Do you think if Peja can't find the net we will see Brewer? I think Brewer is the player that might give some life but with out Caron its gonna be hard this series.
Rick Carlisle's answer: "Possibly." Honestly, I'd be surprised. I don't see Carlisle changing his rotation at this point. If anything, Peja's minutes will be reduced and DeShawn Stevenson's extended.
Hi Tim,The way I look at it game 2 is a must win for the Mavs and if not the series is over. Coming back here with 0-2 deficit they're already half eliminated, you thoughts?
If the Mavs lose Game 2, Miami might as well release parade plans.
what mavs team is going to show up tomorrow --the one that cares and makes shots or the one that played last night and did not play d , rebound or hit any shots tomorrow night?
Did we watch the same Game 1? The Heat shot 38.8 percent from the floor. The Mavs played some D. I'll agree that the Mavs missed some good looks, but give the Heat credit, too. The biggest key is the Mavs must improve rebounding. That has a direct effect on their offensive efficiency.
Is it true that Tyson Chandler was eating dinner last night, and got called for a foul on Dwayne Wade?
Is it true that the Mavs are undefeated in playoff games during the Mark Cuban era except when they get screwed by the refs? Sure seems that way if you listen to Mavs fans.
I was quoted as saying in a Miami story to at least " have some impact on this series. It may not be from the start, but I will have an impact."I feel ready. Video on youtube shows my pre game and Im ready. So whats the word from the Doc's, because at this point, they are keeping me off the court. We all know me 90% is better than Peja at 1000% not hitting three's. Answer me this TMac
Caron Butler does not have a medical degree. The medical experts employed by the Mavs do not believe he's ready for contact. It will be shocking if that opinion changes during this series.
What changes do we expect from the Mavs on how they defend LeBron and Wade since they went crazy on us in the 4th quarter?
LeBron and D-Wade combined for 12 points in the fourth quarter. That's not bad, but it's far from going crazy. The Mavs did a respectable job defending them. Not great, but respectable. I don't think we'll see any major adjustments in that aspect. The Mavs' concern on the defensive end is rebounding, rebounding, rebounding.
People are discussing Miami's great defense since they won Game 1, but Dallas's defense was similarly swarming. Do you believe the Mavs defense will continue to hold MIA points under 100?
I think most games in this series will be played in the 80s and 90s. These are two good defensive teams. There will be a lot of possessions that use up the whole shot clock and slow the game down.
Am I wrong in looking at last night's game as a good omen for the Mavs? Heat can't possibly shoot 11 for 24 in threes all series and Dallas can't possibly shoot any worse. And the game was close until the last few minutes. Or am I just crazy?
You're not crazy. You're optimistic. It's likely that the Heat won't have a better 3-point shooting game, and the Mavs won't have a worse shooting performance. But it's also likely that LeBron and/or D-Wade will have at least one monster performance. The Mavs need one or more from Dirk.
Why do I not take control at more spots during the game? I pass way too much!
Why do fans complain about a player who has averaged 28.3 points in the playoffs and carried his team to the Finals?
Why did Tyson Chandler not challenge or at least foul LeBron on the 4th quarter slam? I felt like the game was completey over at that point and plays like that make me question going forward
Chandler was late getting over. LeBron had already left the floor by the time Chandler could have started his jump. If he fouls, that's an and-1.
Am I crazy for not being nervous at this point? I mean, everyone's shot was off last night. JJ, Dirk, Terry, Peja. Their shots will be on Thursday, in addition to Kidd learning how to attack the Heat Defense and I see us grabbing a win. I know the Heat have a good D and they certainly showed it, but I still feel that if the Mavs play their game, they are extremely difficult to beat.
The Mavs aren't rattled. They're in good shape if they get Game 2. If not, they're in pretty deep trouble, but I still see this being a long series. The Mavs need Jason Terry to get going, and for that to happen, they'll probably have to push the tempo and play out of their flow offense.
Folks, I've got to wrap this up a little early. Appreciate you logging on.
