Chat with Ohm Youngmisuk

  (1:01 PM)

Wud up, wud up! How are all my homeys doing this week? Hopefully good. Shout out to the Shaq-Fu, retiring this week. In my book, he goes down as a top-5 center of all time: Kareem, Russell, Wilt, Shaq and Hakeem/Mikan. We can share our Shaq memories here, talk about the Giants, Jets, Kris and Kim, NBA Finals (and my boy JKidd), French Open (Big big match between Fed and Djokovic!) anything else you guys want to discuss. Let's go!

Pete (MI)

Sparty sucks.

  (1:02 PM)

Pete, do you think Michigan will finally beat Ohio State now that Tressel is gone? I mean, we all know the Wolverines can't beat the Spartans in football so might as well ask if you can beat Ohio State now. LOL.

Rich (@ Pro Football Hall of Fame)

Enjoying all the great exhibits at Hall of Fame. Any Giants or Jets you think should be there?

  (1:03 PM)

Rich! Are you having fun? I went to Canton when Darrell Green and Art Monk were inducted a few years ago. It was a lot of fun. It's so tough to think of all the Giants and Jets that should be in off the top of my head. But my guess is Strahan will be on his way soon.

Wes (CA)

Crap. Bosh is actually good.

  (1:06 PM)

Wes, LOL! Of course he is good. But here's the thing, he's very very good spotting up for an 18-footer wide open off passes from LeBron or Wade. Bosh still may be a bit soft for my liking but he does have game. I would like to see him do more but he doesn't have to with LeBron and Wade. I always subscribe to the theory that the road team's best chance to steal a game is in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. But I still think Dallas has a shot tonight. They missed a ton of shots they normally make. And they have veteran leadership. If they lose, and lose badly tonight, that could be big trouble. Winning three in a row at home for middle team is really really hard to do.

Rachel (Hattiesburg)

Hey Ohm! After taking a look at your Giants schedule, I think you guys have a pretty nice one to start off. Skins, Rams, Cards, Hawks and Bills. All teams they should do well against. What do you think the Giants record will be before the week 7 bye week? Also, what a shame we dont get Giants Jets on Christmas. Not that Chi GB wont be a fun one, but it would be a treat.

  (1:09 PM)

Hey Rach! Well, it's not my schedule, LOL. But I agree, Giants have to start off strong. When I had to predict the schedule, game-by-game, when the schedule came out, I went with the Giants starting off 6-1. Of course, this is without knowing who they will re-sign or sign in free agency. But they have strong start written all over it and another potential stumble at the end with how difficult the schedule gets. Here were my predictions:

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Which CB do you think that the New York Giants will Part Ways with since the Picked Up Prince Akinurma?

  (1:11 PM)

Chris, I think if they part with a corner, it won't be anybody with a big name. I think the depth chart for the first few corners at the start of the season will be Webster, Thomas, Ross, Amukamara, B. Johnson.

John(NJ) [via mobile]

Ohm my dude, what's happening? A lot of these ESPN analysts and bloggers have been mentioning Kiwi to the Pats. If that happens do you think Giants stand pat on their 'backers or look for a free agent themselves? I think they should resign Deon Grant another year and wait for that monster LB in round 1 next year

  (1:14 PM)

John, wud up man? I did see some bloggers mention Kiwi to Pats -- remember, he played at Boston College. I think Kiwi returns unless he gets a big offer from another team which is definitely possible. Now, if he is ruled a restricted free agent, the Giants will likely keep him with a second-round tender on him already. If he becomes unrestricted, I could see another team making a bigger offer than the Giants would like for Kiwi, who wants to be a starter. I think the Giants would then almost kind of have to sign another linebacker in free agency because at the moment, they have Goff and Boley as healthy options. Sintim is coming off knee surgery and then they have two rookies. Gerris might be back and Bulluck is a FA. Still, gun to my head, Kiwi returns, just my guess.

Vinnie (Columbus, OH)

Ohm's Law!!!Slight ray of hope on the labor front with news of the "secret" meeting! Anywho...Clinton Portis?! I hope not. I'd rather see that 3rd RB role go to a player than has explosive potential such as DaRell Scott. We've heard from Portis, any feeling on the Jints thoughts on him? I know they can't actually have any contact with him at this point. Thanks.

  (1:17 PM)

Wud up, wud up? I think the secret meeting is a good thing. Fo Sho. As for Portis, I think we'd have to wait to see what happens with Bradshaw. I fully expect the Giants to bring Ahmad back, even if he is an unrestricted free agent. Portis to the Giants, in my opinion, is a long shot. But you never know if Bradshaw goes somewhere else. Otherwise, I think it will be Bradshaw, Jacobs, Ware and Scott.

Andrew (Ann Arbor)

Always a pleasure, Ohm. I wanted to pick your brain about the NBA Draft a little. As a Wolverine and born and bred New Yorker, my hope is obviously that Darius Morris goes higher than projected to the Knicks. I know he's had a pre-draft workout with them, today I think, and I was wondering if you think he's got a legit shot at landing with the Knicks. If not, where else do you think the Knicks could turn?

  (1:21 PM)

Hey man. I haven't turned my attention to the draft yet. Last I saw, Darius might work his way into late first round. Knicks pick 17th right? I don't see Darius jumping that high. Now, I could see him going to a team like San Antonio, which likes guys like Morris, who can drive and hit the outside jumper. But a lot will be known when we get closer to the draft. Obviously, Knicks can use a PG and another rebounding big to do some dirty work inside. And there will be guys like that at 17. I am sure a lot will want Jimmer. Loved Jimmer in college. Got to see if he will project to the pros at his size. But dude can shoot.

Curt (NJ)

Hey Ohm, what do you think the Giants should do about Ahmad Bradshaw? He's hired Drew Rosenhaus as his agent, so it's fairly clear he wants a big payday. But can the Giants afford to keep him and Jacobs?

  (1:22 PM)

Curt, we got to see if he will be a restricted or unrestricted free agent. He very well could likely be a restricted free agent, then it wouldn't matter. Even if unrestricted, I still think the Giants sign him. Remember, Rosenhaus has several clients on the Giants, including Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips. There is the possibility that Jacobs might have to restructure his contract. Don't know for sure but Jacobs did say he'd be open to it within reason.

Brian (NJ)

Ohm- are we going to get a clearer picture of the upcoming NFL season after tomorrow's hearing?

  (1:23 PM)

B, without knowing for sure, I'd say no. I think we'll have a better picture by start of July. And of course, I am trying to take a vacation in the second week of July so I am sure it will mess up my vacation. Sigh.

Chris (NJ)

See the hangover 2 yet?

  (1:24 PM)

I have not! I need reviews. Now! I heard it wasn't as good as 1 but still very good. And being that I am Thai, I have to get out and see it soon. I've been slacking on movies. I saw Thor a few weeks ago. Jeremy Shockey wasn't bad.

Deron Williams (NJ)

OHM! Are we going to be able to get Dwight to join me in Brooklyn or not?

  (1:26 PM)

D-Will, hard to get into Dwight's head. Last I saw, reports were he was discussing an extension with Orlando. My thing is, if Dwight really wants to win, he is going to have to get assurances Orlando will lure another star there. But even if he got CP3, for example, that might not be enough to win. Dwight going to NJ would be AWESOME. But the Nets would need more because they probably would have to surrender Lopez in a sign-and-trade, just my guess.

Joe (NY)

Best WR out of this group 3 years from now- Nicks, Dez, Austin or D-Jax?

  (1:27 PM)

Ooh, tough question Joey. I'll go with Nicks and Jax in a tie because Dez has some off the field issues he has to clear up. I love Austin but like Nicks and Jax slightly better.

  (1:28 PM)

Yo, on another note, I have the spelling bee on my TV. These kids look so nervous, they are making me nervous!

Chris (Orlando)

Sup Ohm...thinking about NYG's fullback situation. Do you think Hedgecock comes back? I like what I saw from the Bear last season, and for some reason I have this image of Hedge dropping a pass burned into my head...

  (1:30 PM)

Chris, LOL! Well, I think Bear did a great job at FB. And I think he could very well be the starting FB this season. Hedgecock could also return as well but you are right, he does drop a lot of passes. LOL. Also possible that Giants bring in an undrafted FB free agent.

Dez (NJCU)

Ohm you cop that Shaolin vs Wu Tang Raekwon cd? FIREE

  (1:31 PM)

Dez! I have not. How is it? I have to admit, please don't judge, but I was never really the biggest Wu-Tang fan. LOL! I definitely respect them and like some of their stuff but I am not a die-hard Wu-head. But I have always loved Method's flow and sound.

Plaxico (Agrees)

Go Spartans! Ohm my man...does ESPN have anything planned for you if this lockout continues? Covering other sports?

  (1:32 PM)

Plax, first off, counting down the minutes till you get out G! Nothing planned. But if there is no football at the end of August and early September, I will probably do some US Open tennis and if there is no football at all next season, maybe I'll do some basketball, if there is basketball.

Ryan (Grand Rapids, MI)

How bout those Detroit Tigers!

  (1:33 PM)

Ryan, haven't been following the Tigers. Just saw that Sizemore got traded and Rayburn is the starting 2B now?

Sebastian (Ryan's house )

what do you get when you have a foot ball player and a soccor player?

  (1:34 PM)

A "foot-ball-cor" judging by your spelling? LOL. What you got for me Sebastian?

S Dot (Long Island, NY)

Hey Ohm! This lockout is starting to get real annoying. They need to wrap this up quickly. Anyway, I think the Giants D is poised for a breakout year. With the addition of Prince, our secondary get a lil help. To think how crazy our pass rush was this past year, it can only get better. My question is, as it looks like Cofield may be on his way out, who will be our two starting DTs when the season starts?

  (1:35 PM)

S Dot, wud up. Hear you on the lockout. I think the starting DTs -- if Cofield doesn't return -- will be Canty and Bernard or Joseph. Probably Bernard. Then Joseph and Austin off bench. But you will see Tuck slide inside some at times as well.

Plaxico (Agrees)

You see Terrelle Pryor jumping into the supplemental draft and turning pro?

  (1:35 PM)

Is that official now?

  (1:36 PM)

And did he run through the red light on his way to the supplemental draft in his sweet Z?

John(NJ) [via mobile]

Boy I hope you're right about Kiwi. I don't even think the Cowgirls line of the 90's could stop tuck, osi, JPP, kiwi and the big boys in the middle.

  (1:37 PM)

If you are a Giants fan, you are hoping that the new CBA will be like last year and rule all these dudes as RFAs even if that means Barry Cofield will be upset. We all like Barry, great dude. But for Giants purposes, all these guys like Kiwi, Cofield and Bradshaw becoming RFAs allows them to keep all these guys on the cheap for another season. And with this lockout, what you want is continuity. Teams with the most continuity will get off to best starts.

Plaxico (Agrees)

OHM!!! If you were in charge of ESPN:30 in 30, what subject would you want to see?

  (1:38 PM)

Oh man, this is a really really tough one. I love all of those. I'd say something on rivalries like Agassi vs Sampras or anything from NBA from 80s to 90s. Those are great! The college football ones are so good too. All of them are great. I loved the Fab Five and the U so much!

Drew (NY)

What is your take on all this talk about A-Rod and his cousin

  (1:39 PM)

D, haven't had a chance to read up on it yet. But I'm an A-Rod guy... LOL!

Drew (NY)

sup ohm, steppin away from sports real quick. whats on the lunch menu?

  (1:39 PM)

Hmm... don't know but getting hungry. May have to make it quick so thinking either a grilled chicken sandwich or a quick slice of NJ pizza.

Ryan (Ohio)

Whats good Ohm? As an MSU fan whats your take on the Tress/Pryor situation? Afraid the bucks might come and poach former assistant Dantonio back to the OH?

  (1:41 PM)

Ryan, I was very afraid of that a year ago. But I think the Tressel situation has left such a bad taste in OSU's mouth that bringing his protege might not be a good thing and there's Coach D's health as well. But if they strike out with all the big names and that could mean Urban, Gruden, Pelini and others, then I could see them going after Coach D and that would be devastating for MSU. Coach D has really done a terrific job. And he recruits big-time in Ohio. He would be a great candidate for them and this is the one job I always worried about him leaving for.

Marvin Austin (This Lockout Sucks)

Damn, Ohm, I'm seeing everyone saying I got character concerns and whatnot and that's the reason I fell in the draft. Does taking money from an agent really qualify me as a real bad guy?

  (1:42 PM)

Marv, I haven't met you yet but from everything I hear, a lot of people vouch for you. Being that you are from DC like me, I will give you the benefit of the doubt homey. The Giants say you are not a bad person, just made a few mistakes. I'm not judging.

Drew (NY)

how good do you think nicks is going to be this year. or is he going to draw all the attention and ending giving all the glory to smith

  (1:43 PM)

We have to see if Smith comes back healthy, where will he be. But I think they have enough weapons to make teams worry about the others. But yes, Hakeem will see most of the attention. I expect him to take another step forward and hold onto more balls this season. He will have to learn how to deal with doubles.

  (1:43 PM)

Alright guys, thanks for stopping by again. See you next week when Plax is a free man!
