Andrew Feldman
  (4:03 PM)

Hey everyone! Hope you're ready for a nice long weekend! Send in your questions now and let's get started!

Erik (McAllen, TX)

If Phil Hellmuth, currently 2nd, manages to win Player of the Year, that's unquestionably a Good Thing For Poker, right?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:05 PM)

Yeah, don't forget to TM that too. There's still a long way to go with WSOP Europe counting, but Hellmuth has been playing so well and for him to emerge with a title the WSOP and poker world can share on a wider scale, its a great thing for the game.

Rick (San Diego)

What's the latest on Full Tilt? And does its apparent demise actually help expedite the case for regulated online poker in the US?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:07 PM)

Latest on FTP is that the LA times reported there is a group of European investors that is willing to buy the majority share of the company. The story also said that as part of the sale it would enable them to pay back the US players...which is great news. I think the indictments really did help because it brought the issue to the front of news organizations everywhere. People shared their story and the politicians had to have seen some of their constituents put in some tough situations.

peter (holloman)

Do you think Ivey will play the 50k and main event now that FTP found some investors?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:09 PM)

I'm confident that he's still not in the US, but if things do progress in the right direction and there's actual movement on that front, I don't think he has any excuse not to play...and you know he wants to play the $50K.

Matt C. (Richmond, VA)

Have you heard any numbers of pre entries or people already entered in the 50K event or the ME?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:12 PM)

For some reason the WSOP is always very protective of pre-entrant numbers for those two events. We'll only know how they're going to do when registration finally closes.

Howard L (Ireland)

If Michael Vick can recover from a PR nightmare I can too right?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:13 PM)

You might, but I have a strong feeling the company you represent will not. There just really isn't a way that FTP PR could've handled this situation worse.

David (Toronto)

The seniors event had over 3,700 start on the same day, even with other events going on at the same time. That is about half of the ME field last year. So why have 4 starting days for the ME? Why not just 2?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:14 PM)

Structure. The WSOP main event allows for a lot more play and while the Seniors event was down to just a couple hundred after Day 1, less than 1/3 of the field in the main event will be eliminated during Day 1 action. I think with ~6K players, 3 starting days is better, but they were expecting 8K prior to Black Friday.

Richard (France)

Will the essentially holdem players who have a shot at player of the year (Lamb, Moorman, Elky, Timoshenko) play the 50k?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:16 PM)

Out of that group, the only player I'd even remotely consider just a hold 'em player would be Moorman, and that's not even that true. I think you will see all four players in there without hesitation. Of course, Mercier and Hellmuth will be playing too.

Shawn (Hellabama)

Men the Master is in the Ladies Event after his brilliant discourse with Vanessa Selbst? Is he trying to find someone his own size to pick on?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:17 PM)

I don't know if he's playing, but I'm pretty impressed that Vanessa put up with his comments the other day.

Joey (Virginia)

How would you play pocket aces if you got them on the first hand of the WSOP main event?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:19 PM)

The same way I'd play them any other time...?

Matt (AZ)

What is going to happen if full tilt cant pay us back?? Im concerned that they dont have the money and will remain silent forever. Whats your thoughts?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:21 PM)

I'm not sure. I guess there could be a huge class action lawsuit against the company, but I'm not sure what exactly can be done at this point. Let's wait and see how this latest story with the investors plays out...

Erik (McAllen, TX)

I mean, it's not like Howard is Russ Hamilton. Unless it comes out that he had his hand in the cookie jar along with the "real" owners, I can't see him being completely exiled from the game. Also, consider that a great deal of the industry has always been made of of live players, many of whom know nothing about his role in online poker, and simply recognize him because of how he was talked up in the early part of the last decade on TV. You have to think that he'll be ok once some time has passed.

Andrew Feldman
  (4:21 PM)

Good points.

Ryan (Seattle)

I was at Rio last week and the ESPN stage looks even more impressive in person! I can't imagine what it will look like on TV.

Andrew Feldman
  (4:25 PM)

It's pretty nice on the small screen too. I had the chance to take a quick look at our upcoming shows and man, they did a great job.

Terri (Illinois)

How's Phil Galfond doing this year?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:26 PM)

Not playing a ton of WSOP events, but instead involved in the cash games.

Andrew Feldman
  (4:27 PM)

Thanks for all the questions today. Will be back next week from the WSOP main event! Have a great weekend!
