Former WNBA great Lisa Leslie will be here in minutes to take your questions!
She'll be presenting the Capital One Cup at the ESPYs Wednesday (9 p.m. ET, ESPN).
We've got Lisa!
With Sheryl Swoopes returning to the W and Taj McWilliams still going strong in their 40's, have you considered making a come back?
No. I'm definitely not considering making a comeback. Having two babies at home is enough right now. But thanks for asking.
What would you consider to be the biggest difference (good OR bad) between the new players of today, and the players who were new to the WNBA 15 years ago?
I would say on the positive side that the players now are a more talented in terms of skill, but a little less talented in, maybe, effort or work ethic. Our work ethic was better, but their talent is better.
How closely do you follow your former coach, Michael Cooper, at USC? How do you feel about the team's chances for catching Stanford in the PAC 10?
I follow USC and coach Cooper very closely. But unfortunately, USC did not win the Capital One Cup. I think Stanford is definitely the leader of the pack when it comes to women's sports.
Lisa, are you excited to be a presenter at the ESPYs this year?
I'm excited for the two universities. For Florida as well as Stanford. This is a huge accomplishment for them to really have bragging rights. In addition to getting the trophy, they also get $200,000 to give to student-athletes as scholarships for graduate school. Wow. Awesome.
Any pre-game rituals during your time in the WNBA?
Yes. I always ate oatmeal for breakfast. Usually some sort of breast of chicken and pasta for lunch. Always, always take a nap and read Psalm 91.
What do you expect the USA woman team in the Olympics in 2012?
What I always expect, gold, gold, gold.
What was the Hardest WNBA Team that you faced?
I think the Houston Comets was probably everyone in the league's toughest team when the league first began. They had four Olympians and were really strong. Later in my career, it was Detroit. They had some great players.
Do you ever see yourself in a head coaching position at some point? If yes, at what level?
Well, you never know, but if Stanford keeps winning the Capital One Cup, I might have to go help coach Cooper at USC.
IF they had the Capital One Cup in your day, would you ahve tried to play more than one sport to help your school?
Well, it's possible, but we had a really strong football team, women's basketball team. Our volleyball team was really great when I was there. And our water polo team. You may never know, we may have already won it, you'd have to go back and calculate it. I did try to play basketball and volleyball, but it didn't work out.
Given your tremendous success, how much pressure will there be for your daughter to play basketball?
I don't think she'll be under basketball at all. She has already fallen in love with winning trophies and is playing soccer. She's well on her way.
Lisa, what was your favorite basketball moment?
Winning my first gold medal in the Atlanta Olympics.
Name 1 post player today that reminds you of yourself
I don't think so. No. Not yet.
Do you know of one?
Dear Lisa,It is a genuine pleasure to communicate with such a competitive and accomplished athlete! How well do you see the progress of our young Sparks post players like LaToya Pringle and Jantel Lavender? You are famous for continually extending your shot repertoire and overall game. What does Candace need to do to carry her game to the next level?
Candace needs to just stay healthy.
