Happy Day 2B everyone. Play is going on right in front of me, so let's get things going.
No info on the player missing since the dinner break? Was it Vinnie Vinh?
No. It was a name I didn't recognize, not Vinnie Vinh.
Average age of the Main Event final table. Your guess. Over/Under 28.
Average age of the main event field is 37. I'll take the over...slightly.
Hellmuth said he only got a couple of hours of sleep yesterday prior to his showing up to play. Given that Day 2 started at noon Vegas time, what was he doing up to perhaps 10AM or later from the day before?
If that's to be fully believed, yes. I mean, more likely than not, Hellmuth was out late and went to sleep before I had finished writing the day's recap. In any case, regardless of how much sleep he actually got, an impressive performance.
Giving the blind structure and 30k starting stack, why did so many top players bust out prior to ante levels
There's the unspoken feeling for many in the main event that it's either accumulate quickly or bust. The aggressive players who don't have the patience found themselves on the rail after getting involved in pots where they had a couple hundred big blinds.
Yo A-FellyIf you bust out in day 1a can you buy back in to day1b?
Nope. No re-entry in any bracelet events.
Jamie Gold is currently sitting on a stack of 82k at last count. Would it be a good thing or a bad thing for poker if he makes another deep run in the main event?
Mixed thoughts on that. 1) Its always good for the public to see a familiar face make a deep run. 2) It's Jamie Gold and he has a very tarnished reputation in the industry.
I can't find a schedule at a safe site, is there an upcoming break/dayoff and when is that scheduled?
Tomorrow is the day off. Except for me as I plan on crushing the media event (read: make it past the first level)
Did Phil ever thank me?
Well, it wasn't all Mike the mouth. Maybe he started the process, but security had to speak to Phil's wife to be able to open the room. Hellmuth had a don't interrupt unless the world was ending policy on his room at the Aria and they needed her approval to enter.
How do you like your odds in the media event this year? (improved since I'm not there?)
15 minute blinds and I don't run good in flips. Might be a problem.
Biggest unsung change of this year's coverage-no day 1s and day 2s on ESPN! Thank you! The coverage of playing 300bbs deep is by far the most boring due to the fact that patience rules the day, and pros aren't likely to blitz in a ton of chips light in this structure.
26 hours of Day 3 on...winning the main event is more than just race after race. Time to tell the entire story.
Why does Jaime Gold have a bad reputation? What did I miss? Is it because of his play? His talk? Or did he do something I don't know about?
Gold just came off bad in our coverage and then was involved in a lawsuit for half his winnings (which was settled). He's also gone through more sponsors than anyone else in the industry with all of them cancelled for one reason or another.
Whats the buy in / pay out in the media event?
No buy-in. Not sure if there are prizes, it used to be a donation to charity in your name.
Re:Gold -- And his infatuation for blueberries is slightly annoying
You're going to hold blueberries against him? lol.
Oh that sucks
Not really. The media never has time to play or do anything recreational, so the fact that we have the ability to play for a day is really nice in my mind. I definitely appreciate the WSOP putting on the event regardless of prizes.
Am I going to make it into Epic Poker League
You're playing in the $5K tomorrow to try and make up the 60K you need...and I think you said you're heading to Florida if you dont cash...so you're trying your best for sure.
Andrew - I'm sure there are some great stories emerging from the early day, anything you care to share?
So far today the biggest story in my eyes is the fact that Donny and Eric Mizrachi are seated at the same table. Crazy that it randomly happens at the main event.
Hows Phil Gordon doing and was he rocking the FTP patch?
No FTP patch and he was eliminated during Level 8 yesterday.
More impressive performance this year, Brian rast WINS 2 bracelets or Phil Hellmuth plays bridesmaid 3 times?
Rast - beats the masses in a 1500, then beats the best in the 50K. Hellmuth is nice, but there was no W.
I know you can't say anything but Brad Garrett has to be the most annoying "celebrity" in WSOP history!
If I felt that way, I'd say so, but not in this case. i was dying laughing last night, along with the 50 other people who were hanging on his every word.
Which is more dominated by Europeans right now, professional golf or professional poker?
Golf. The majority of bracelets this year went to Americans.
Can you share who will be commentating the live coverage? Would love some more Voulgaris.
Sure. It's going to be a variety of players, really depending on who is in the main event. Hellmuth agreed to help us out, but he made Day 3. Same with Olivier Busquet. I'm pretty sure Antonio Esfandiari will take the lead tomorrow, but not 100%. Will find out.
Is it me or have there been more altercations / no shows / non-poker related stories this year than in the past or are we just hearing about them more?
I agree with you, but in general not too many at all. The difference may be 10 to 7 or something like that.
Is it safe to say Phil Hellmuth is by far the best hold'em player out there. I mean with his 2011 run at the wsop and his amazing come back yesturday. No one would of laid those 10's down with less the 10bbs. I jam there everytime.
Everyone jams there everytime...except for Phil. He'd rather not get involved in a race and hey, it worked wonders yesterday. His patience is unrivaled in this field.
Did you get any sleep?
Any new info on the Carter Gill situation
He really messed up. I'll leave it at that.
were there still a lot of internet qualifiers for the Main Event outside of the US?
Not a ton and you can really tell by walking around the room. I would say there are more Europeans this year than ever before.
Please address the spitting incident. How does that guy remain in the event?
The guy from Florida didn't want to return to Vegas for a court date with a guy from London so it was agreed no files would be charged.
With the remaining Mizrachi brothers at the same table, was Michael cheering from the rail? It'd be cool to see him repaying the support he got last year.
It's a little early for family rail support. If either goes deep, they'll all be there.
Gotta run everyone. Thanks for all the questions today! Speak to you tomorrow.
