Chat with Andrew Feldman

Andrew Feldman
  (4:01 PM)

Welcome to today's WSOP chat everyone. Let's talk Day 3 of the WSOP main event and I hope you are all watching the coverage on ESPN3 here: http://espn.go.com/espn3/index?id=202963

Josh (Philly)

You made it past the first round... we're all proud of you!

Andrew Feldman
  (4:03 PM)

Would've had a good amount of chips too. Came back from the break with like 17K at 700/1400 with a 200 ante and third hand in I'm in the BB with J-7. SB raises tiny to 2100 and I'm getting a great price. Flop comes 5-6-8, he bets half pot, I shove for about 10K more and I brick, GG me. He had the monstrous A-5.

Mike B (Long Island, NY. )

How much of a delay will there on espn2 coverage since they will be showing hole cards

Andrew Feldman
  (4:03 PM)

30 minute delay on ESPN2, 5 minute delay on ESPN3 when there are no hole cards.

John (New York)

Great coverage so far Andrew. Question: why do some players get a bad rep for table manners (Hellmuth) but others seem to get a pass. Vanessa Selbst always seems to be critical of the plays made against her by other players (Varkoni at last year's main event, Eastgate at Heads Up Championship for calling with JJ pre-flop). For as good as she is, Vanessa really needs to stop criticizing and complaining. Go Phil.

Andrew Feldman
  (4:04 PM)

Depends on public perception. In a strange way, Hellmuth had set the bar, so people often compare other players to how he acts at times. In any case, no blow ups or comments from PH this year.

Matt C. (Richmond, VA)

What is a media event with no media coverage??!! How did you do?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:05 PM)

Maybe we'll get E3 to stream it next year...or not. There are 20 minute levels for the first 3, then 15 minute levels from that point on. It's a major crapshoot.

Jerry (Illinois)

Is Jason Lester Playing this year?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:05 PM)

Busted on Day 2 late in the day.

Thomas (Florida)

How far into the event does Helmuth have to go in order to clinch Player-of-the-Year?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:10 PM)

Impossible to do so at this point considering the seven WSOP Europe events count towards the final standings. He can leave Vegas with the lead if Ben Lamb does not finish 138th or higher.

Jerry (Illinois)

Any feel good stories so far?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:10 PM)

I think David Diaz's run is a great feel good story. A cancer survivor turned bracelet winner and now he's making a good run in ths main.

Kevin (Vancouver)

Are you shocked with the turnout for this years event after everything that has happened?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:12 PM)

Extremely, but it just shows how the WSOP can rise above the issues and prevail against the odds.

Josh (Philly)

How did GWise leave PH off the "Players to Watch on Day 3" column? I'm sorry, but and Lamb are the stories of the ME so far in my opinion.

Andrew Feldman
  (4:12 PM)

He says, "I figured you'd be watching him anyways." That works.

Jai (Canada, eh?)

Still can't see the stream Feldman... not even on wsop.com.How the heck am I supposed to make it through my work day?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:12 PM)

I would tweet at the WSOP twitter account and let them know. I'll pass the world along here as well.

Sarge (Lee's Summit, MO)

Isn't there a big advantage to players who live in Vegas and can DVR the ESPN coverage from this point forward? They can go home and look for things on players while those staying in hotels don't have that option.

Andrew Feldman
  (4:13 PM)

Everyone can re-watch the coverage on ESPN3.com. Fair game.

Bob (Seattle)

Best guess on how many remain at the end of the day and what the chip lead will be?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:13 PM)

893 will finish the day, chip leader will have 1.1 million in chips.

Tucker (Max)

Are they planning on covering it on ESPN 2/3 tell they get to the final table?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:18 PM)

Yes. Every day from here on out. Full schedule can be found here: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/poker/news/story?id=6477409

Scott (Mobile, AL)

Do we know who will be calling the action for ESPN2 this evening?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:18 PM)

I believe, not sure, but I believe it's Lon and Antonio.

Derwin (baltimore, MD)

What is the WSOP policy on sponsorship at the TV table? I see Daniel Negreanu not wearing a PS patch but a guy on secondary table wearing a Titan poker patch

Andrew Feldman
  (4:19 PM)

WSOP Policy in general is that players cannot wear the patch of a site who has served US players.

Abe (San Diego)

Any word on the % of women that comprised the ME field? Was it ahead of the usual pace? It seems from the names left that there are a good number of women in the mix. Over under on women that finish in the top 100......3?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:20 PM)

3.5 percent versus 3 percent a year ago. Many still left, final 100 will include 3 women. Good guess imo.

Sarge (Lee's Summit, MO)

Good point, forgot about ESPN3 since my internet provider doesn't provide it. I noticed Sorrel Mizzi is having a nice ME run thus far. How is he being treated by the poker community with his issues in the past?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:21 PM)

It seems like Sorel's problems, for now, have been put behind everyone. I'm sure if he makes a super-deep run they'll take center stage once again.

Rose Genest (Hamilton Ontario Canada)

could this be the year we see a female at the FT

Andrew Feldman
  (4:22 PM)

It's definitely a possibility, but way too early to pick one out of the crowd.

Carl (la)

is espn 3 or 360 a web stream or an actual time warner channel ? All i got is espn 4-6p and 8-11:30p what am i missing and where can i see it? Ps good luck in tourney my dog

Andrew Feldman
  (4:22 PM)

ESPN3 is a website - espn3.com.

Marc (Atlanta)

Any word on what top US pros will do once their WSOP is over? Sure they'll probably take a break like they always would, but how about a few weeks from now when they can't just fire up their computers to play? This might make for a good column topic.

Andrew Feldman
  (4:23 PM)

A number of players that I've spoken to said they're going to re-evaluate after the WSOP and many are strongly considering moving out of the country to continue to play online.

Ryan (WA)

How many hours of sleep do you average a night? What you have been doing the last couple months is increadable! Keep up the good work and thanks for keep me occupied while at work!!

Andrew Feldman
  (4:23 PM)

Thanks Ryan. About 5.5 is my typical WSOP sleep. Thankfully, I like coffee.

Jeremy (NJ)

Do you think Hellmuth keeps patient, or is it time to make moves?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:27 PM)

He has the most patience of anyone in the room. His preflop hand selection is probably his biggest skill to be honest, as he adjusts his range given every little detail.

Norm (Georgia)

With Jack Ury's passing last year, who is the oldest WSOP ME player this year? What about the longest streak of MEs played - where does that currently stand?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:28 PM)

91-year-old Ellen Deeb.

Carl (La)

Does vegas have odds on particular pro players to win or final table main event?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:28 PM)

The Wynn put a variety of odds up before the main event started, not sure what they have now.

Horace (New Orleans)

Totally random (but hopefully easy to answer) question. When the money bubble gets close, the TV coverage makes it seem like it takes forever between hands. How do they handle the level clock? Is it paused? If not, then it seems like there could be only a few hands per level - ouch!

Andrew Feldman
  (4:29 PM)

The tournament staff adds on time based on how long it takes to bust the bubble. It's their discretion.

Luke (Rochester, NY)

Is the WSOP formally allowing iPads or other tablet devices at tables? It seems like they are, or at least were. This would make me uncomfortable to say the least. Do you think they will be banned in future years?

Andrew Feldman
  (4:30 PM)

IPods and iPads everywhere. I believe there will be a change in policy for the future as it has slowed down play with players not paying attention.

Andrew Feldman
  (4:31 PM)

Thanks for all the questions today, time to get back to work!
