Good morning, gang! We've got 60 minutes of fantasy chattage ahead, so let's get cracking! Second cup of coffee is firmly in hand, so WHO, may I ask, is up first?
Polanco droppable in 10-team? Likely to be injury-plagued until September, no?
And he just went on the DL, so it looks like Wilson Valdez could be a deep-league replacement here.
Would you trade Jay Bruce for CC Sabathia in a keeper league?
I would make the deal. CC is certainly a top-5 guy and there are a lot more OF in the league to replace Bruce's value than there are SP.
I'd want to see Madson throw once or twice just to be sure, but after that, if all goes well then yes.
Better add: Venters or Adams?
I'd say Adams, given the odds that Heath is sent somewhere, and on the premise that you'll get saves. I don't think Adams moves.
worried about Colon. Is there hope?? Bumgarner had a similar blow up and bounced back. do you see a bounce back with Colon?
Look at it this way... he should have been out of that inning only down 3-0, and then could have thrown a few shutout frames and we'd all feel a lot better about things with BC. So, I'm willing to give him benefit of the doubt... but given his track record, the rope is short.
Anyword on Madsen..
He was activated when the Phillies placed PP on the DL.
Heyward or Freeman ROY?
Longterm, I like Jason Heyward better, but for 2011, it's Freddie.
B Allen called up; Wily Mo and Miranda jettisoned. What say you Mr. Mass?
Not a surprise with Wily Mo - he's a DH stuck in the NL. I'd take a shot on Allen in deep leagues, as he probably gets a lot of 1B playing time.
Look, AJ, I have been an avid chatter for a few years now. Love the work of the ESPN fantasy team. You guys are on top of a lot of fast-paced news. So, I truly trust your input. You buying Bobby Parnell?
Flattery will get Pete everywhere... I think Parnell gets the job done. Now, the team is saying it's a committee thing, and Izzy will get a few save opps, but I don't think he has the endurance to do it all. I'm buying Bobby.
Do I play tonight?
Doubt it... X-rays were good, but MRI being done to make sure... if those are fine, you'll see him this weekend, perhaps as DH to play it safe.
Do Melky and Frenchy keep this up? Royal nation must be in shock... along with Pirate fans.
I don't think either keeps it up. I'd sell high on both.
If Nunez is traded who takes over? Mujica? Dunn? Option C? Committee?
Would have been Hensley, IMO, but they're moving him into the rotation. Personally, I think Mujica is the better option, but my feeling is they'll go with Dunn if they make the move.
AJ, I need some advice. We have an owner in our league that has checked out for the second year in a row. It's actually frustrating to several of the other owners...and I'm thinking it's time to boot 'em. Thoughts and ideas on how best to accomplish?
Confront him. Tell him you're going to kick him out and see what he says. If he doesn't care or offers lame excuses, you have your answer -- and if he says he still wants in, he still has time to prove it.
On a scale of 1-10 how insulted should I be towards a guy who tried to offer J.J Hardy for Youkillis?
Never blame anyone from making a trade offer that seems lopsided in their favor. Never shut the door on a deal because of it. Is it a fair deal? Not even close, but you can turn it into one if you like -- or politely decline.
Would you trade Jered Weaver now, value as high as it can get, thinking of offering him for Greinke and Beachy?
As much as I like Weaver ROS, I'd make that deal. And don't call me Bookie in front of other people! Wah! Wah!
Curious why you ranked Harden in the bottom third for tomorrow. Playing at home against the Angels with a bleh offense seems like a good matchup. What am I missing?
Saturday is loaded with solid pitchers... but going up against No. 1 for the day Weaver certainly hurts him... plus, it's a double-header, so both lineups may be piecemeal... the best A's might not be in there Game 1.
My bad... he's in Game 2, but the sentiment on split lineups still applies.
How can a grown man watch Big Brother?
It's not like we're talking Disney channel, dude. May not be your thing, but don't be a hater. The game theory on that show is brilliant.
how do you drink your coffee??
With my mouth. Why, how do you drink it?
Hey AJ! Thanks for your knowledge! Is Kuroda for Crisp a fair offer? I have alot of pitching and could use some speed...
Then it's a fair deal.
I don't drink your coffee.
I don't see how the sentiment on split lineups applies at all. Mathmatically both teams have the same dis-advantage.
Not really, since we don't know which game the regulars will start/sit and how many get one of them off. Plus, the A's bench is weaker than the Angels bench, IMO.
Hey AJ, do i need to try to deal Leo Nunez now? What are the chances he stays/closes somewhere else?
I'd try and deal him because I don't even understand how he's been successful for this long...
Move Haren for R Weeks if pitching is stacked?
Not a chance... I'd trade a much lesser pitcher for Weeks, but not Danny.
Is Rauch going to close the ROS in Toronto? Would you drop Melancon or Guerra for him?
Odds are in his favor... I'd get rid of Melancon in a heartbeat.
Getting value for Stubbs isn't easy, would you trade him for Zobrist? Is that enough value back or aim higher?
Actually, assessing value for Stubbs isn't easy with all those K's. I'd aim higher than Zobrist, but someone with similar production to Ben and a slightly higher BA would make me jump.
d-d-d-Fexter f-f-f-f-Fowler is back. Should I care? (Hey, I lost my stutter!)
CarGo can't right now, so I'd take a shot with Fowler, at least for this weekend. Make it so, Mr. Man-fren-ten...sen...den.
Oswalt is normally a very strong second half pitcher, do you see him making a good comeback after his current DL stint?
My concern would be that the Phillies open up such a lead on the Wild Card spot over the next few weeks that they don't worry about activating Oswalt until September in order to play it safe.
I don't stutter, use flattery or watch Big Brother. ROS Gallardo, Stauffer, Bedard or Luebke? Thanks AJ!
Bedard, Stauffer, Luebke, YoGa.
What did you think of the new Harry Potter movie? And don't lie, I know you saw it...
Nope. Haven't seen Part 1 yet either. However, I did read the book. Speaking of books...
But the Phills are only 3 games up on the current wild card Braves, I'm a Phills fan but they cant pull away that much...can they?
Not talking about over Atlanta, but over the next team. If the playoff spot is secured, winning the division isn't really that big a deal -- part of the problem I have with current playoff structure.
What would you trade to get Price, all things being equal?
They never are equal, but I'd say someone in the Papi neighborhood.
Any chance you could tell me how fantasy sports explains the world? Is there a book or something you could possibly refer me to?
Would you be starting Sandoval over Longoria at the moment?
I'm actually leaning Evan for this week, though it does go against my better judgment. Gut call.
I guess I missed the news. Is Cargo going to go on the DL or will he return soon?
Wrist is in a cast from the collision with the wall... he's hitting off a tee, and could pinch-hit, but Rockies want to play it safe. Day-to-day for now.
I need some offense. What type of hitter could I get for Jered Weaver?
Name your price. If I needed SP, I could be convinced to give you anyone but Bautista, and maybe even him, given the ankle injury.
ROS - Norris or Buccholz?
I'll take Norris.
Ok, I understand the concerns about Ogando but, except when he goes against the Yanks or the Mets, he's been awesome. Why sell if no one is going to pay for him?
You don't ever trade someone if you're not going to get value in return... the reason to sell Ogando is the innings cap, so at some point he could have zero value to you.
At what point would you trade Howard for Hosmer in a keeper league, or would you?
Not in 2011, that's for sure.
ROS - Carp or Stauffer?
Carp for me.
How did Liriano look last night? I only saw the Box Score and that doesn't tell the whole story
Only saw the highlights, which doesn't tell the whole story either... I'd say it was a decent outing, but I'd love to see him get a chance to pitch with a lead and let it loose.
Snider has been good since his recall. Tabata coming off DL soon. Which one do I drop?
I'd let Snider ride for now. It's close, but with long layoff, Tabata has to be behind Travis.
Am i crazy to be rostering Adams AND Gregerson right now just to be safe?
You should have your answer in two weeks at the latest, so may as well wait it out... no harm.
Jonathan Sanchez does well in the 2nd half... We he continue that this year?
I think he'll have a better second half than his first, so I guess that's a yes.
Better catching choice in the 2nd half: Pierzynski or Arencibia
AJ gonna go with AJ, dawg.
That's my time for today, gang. Thanks to all for the Q's. This was fun, as usual. Follow me on the Twitter, as I'm usually good at getting to most queries... until the next time: Good luck and may the odds be EVER in your favor.
