Chat with Ohm Youngmisuk

Ohm
  (2:00 PM)

Wud up, let's go!

John (Cranbury, NJ) [via mobile]

Ohm my man, what happened to ya last week? I know you couldn't have been working THAT hard, the Giants signed no one lol. Anyway, do you think Ahmad now realizes he isn't considered a top-tier running back by many in the league after his free agency? And does this motivate him to become the best or is it a major blow to his confidence level?

Ohm
  (2:02 PM)

Actually there was breaking news right before the chat. At this point, it is all a blur. The Giants may not have signed all the guys you want them to, but they have had no shortage of news. Ahmad probably didn't get the money he was looking for considering how long it took him to re-sign and how his options dwindled by the end. He agreed to contract lower than what Brandon Jacobs got a few years ago. Hopefully it does motivate him. Just worry about his health since Bradshaw does get hurt from time to time.

Drew (NY)

Inked in Bradshaw, Osi on his way to KC, We going to sign Steve Smith or what?

Ohm
  (2:04 PM)

Haven't heard Osi to KC yet. I'd still be somewhat surprised if Smith doesn't return. No hurry really. He probably isn't going to practice right away anyway because of his knee.

Anton (NJ)

Do you think the gmen could go after Zach Miller or Lofa Tatupu? Also do you have any updates on Smith or Boss?

Ohm
  (2:05 PM)

Smith and Boss won't be able to practice until Thursday due to transition rules. So they could just be seeing what else is out there until then. That's not to say they'll re-sign before then but just putting that out there. As for Zach, looks like it's between Seattle and Raiders for him. My guess with Lofa is he would cost a lot and Giants need to re-sign their guys first. Might not have money after that for a guy like him. And Jerry keeps talking about how he wants to develop his LBs now like Sintim.

Vinnie (Columbus, OH)

Ohm's Law!!! I'm getting a sick feeling. I thought we had as good a chance as anybody to win the East this year. However, after Reese's putrid performance in free agency acqusitions, I don't see it. Please tell me something to feel good about.

Ohm
  (2:06 PM)

Re-sign Smith and Boss. Be patient with Smith, it could take him a long time to get back to old form due to microfracture surgery. And then perhaps add another veteran somewhere and bolster the team and hope that they cut down on the turnovers and improve special teams which I think they will.

Rob (NY)

What do you think of Will Beatty so far? Do you think he can hold down the LT spot going forward?

Ohm
  (2:07 PM)

Still very early, only three practices and not a whole lot to watch so far. We'll find out. Gilbride said he likes his physicality so far, just needs to be consistent.

Rob (NY)

Is Clint Sintim practicing? I thought with his injury last year he would miss training camp. Can he be the impact LB Reese was hoping for when he drafted him?

Ohm
  (2:08 PM)

He's working with first team linebackers so far. He is practicing and right now, barring the Giants signing someone, appears to be the guy they want to start at OLB with Boley and Goff.

Tyler (New York)

Besides Smith and Boss, do you see the Giants going after anyone noteworthy in the free agent market?

Ohm
  (2:10 PM)

According to Arizona Republic, Giants are working DT Gabe Watson today. Jerry said he doesn't want to wreck his cap and said they were somewhat under cap right now but it didn't sound like a lot under the cap. He just said they would be in compliance if they re-sign Bradshaw, Smith and Boss. So it sounds like they won't have a ton of money to use on other FAs.

Lee (New York)

As much patience as the Giants have had with Ross and his injury history, don't you think he should play some safety if asked to do so?

Ohm
  (2:12 PM)

Ross told reporters the other day he doesn't want to play safety anymore. Now, that doesn't mean that Perry Fewell won't use him as the extra DB on the field like they did with S Deon Grant on passing downs when they used three safeties. Perhaps they'll just add him or Amukamara as the extra DB this year if Fewell doesn't want to use three linebackers on passing situations.

Nathan (New Haven, CT)

When will Amukamara sign? I know there are still things that can be negotiated with the rookie wage scale, but it can't be that much.

Ohm
  (2:14 PM)

I think the holdup could be whether he can get all his contract fully-guaranteed as reported with Tampa Bay's Adrian Clayborn, who was picked right after Prince. Jerry Reese said the holdup was over a difference in interpretation, so our guess is it's that.

Ohm
  (2:14 PM)

Jerry also said he didn't think it would take long to get Prince done eventually.

Dan (Boston, MA)

What does our cap # look like now?

Ohm
  (2:15 PM)

John Clayton tells me it changes daily. Reese said on Monday morning that the Giants were a little under the cap and that was before Bradshaw or at least before it became public. It didn't sound like they had a ton of space but Reese says the Giants will be under the $120 million cap when they need to be.

Sammy (NYC)

Corey Webster makes 8 million a year. Any reasoning why you wouldn't outbid everyone for Nnamdi and just cut Webster? Isn't that a worthy upgrade?

Ohm
  (2:17 PM)

I don't think it's that easy Sammy. Nnamdi would've have wanted a boatload of money. He got $60 mil over five years, with $25 mil guaranteed. Too rich for the Giants.

Sitton Face (San Diego)

Ohm, where do the Jints finish in the NFC Beast this year? Thanks

Ohm
  (2:20 PM)

Well, I tweeted this a few weeks ago and everybody jumped all over me for answering this question on Twitter prior to free agency. But I feel Giants will win 10 games (expecting they do bring back Smith and Boss and not adding another star impact FA) and probably finish second in NFC East. Schedule is brutal down the stretch. Still think Giants will challenge for playoff spot.

Ohm
  (2:20 PM)

With that being said, free agency can change that. But you are asking me right now, and I am being honest, that's my gut feeling as of right now.

Ryan (NY)

Whats up Ohm... two days until Jersey Shore - are you throwing a season premiere party at Casa D'Ohm? I'll bring the Ron-Ron juice

Ohm
  (2:21 PM)

Dude, my TV has been on one channel from pretty much 8:30 am to 1 a.m. and that's SportsCenter simply because at any moment, Schefter could break news. My life has become all Giants since last Monday. I don't even know what's going on in the real world.

David (DC)

What's up Ohm. Do you know why it's taking so long to get Boss and Smith signed. Also you thoughts on trading Osi for an O-lineman....thanks

Ohm
  (2:23 PM)

Don't want to not answer all your questions out there. But don't want to be repetitive either. Basically with Boss and Smith, they wouldn't practice until Aug. 4 at earliest if signed. So makes sense for them to keep looking. Giants have made offers. Reese says he is waiting to see what happens with them. And they could be waiting to see what else happens in the market. I am sure Boss wants to see what happens with Zach Miller, for example. My thoughts on Osi is that this is going to be a standoff until Giants chose to do something, either lower their price for trading him or trying to come to a middle ground with him on his contract.

Ohm
  (2:24 PM)

Or Osi blinks and comes back and plays for his contract.

Osi Umenyiora (NY)

IF i realize no team will give up a 1st round pick or anything good for me, will i be able to work something out with Jerry and stop being a pain?

Ohm
  (2:25 PM)

Osi, I wish you would. That would make my life easier and everybody happy. But it appears Giants will not give you the money you truly want. And I don't think a team is willing to part with a first rounder. Whether or not Giants lower their price and take a second-rounder and another pick or a player and a pick... we'll have to see.

Fanfave (NYC)

I'm hearing the kid Adrian Tracy is opening eyes at LB? thoughts? any other of the LB's standing out early on?

Ohm
  (2:26 PM)

He's been working with the second team. Hasn't had a whole ton of reps because only three practices in. But we'll have to see. Remember, he was a DE in college and converted. The Giants got a lot of young dudes at LB right now.

Rob (Goshen, NY)

Ohm, how are Philly and the Jets able to make so many signings while it seems like the Giants are barely able to afford resigning Bradshaw and Osi? What is eating our cap space and are we looking to bring in any more game changers to contend this year?

Ohm
  (2:29 PM)

Well, Eli has a big contract. Corey Webster has a large base salary number. Canty and Rolle have nice contracts. The Giants got money tied up in those guys. They were about $6 million over the cap and had to release a bunch of guys and restructure Brandon Jacobs to afford Bradshaw, Kiwi and sign Baas. And clear some space for Smith and Boss, who have yet to sign.

Rob (Goshen, NY)

With Bradshaw seemingly on the verge of resigning..what positions are the Giants now looking at strengthening through FA before the season starts?

Ohm
  (2:29 PM)

He agreed to terms, he's back. Look at Smith and Boss and then after that, maybe a DT.

Niko Douls (Bayside NY)

OHM! you must be bored of all the non movement the giants have made this offseason.lol what do u think of the giants making a move for zack miller at tight end (if we dnt resign K.Boss) or Nick Barnett at linebacker to add depth in that position?

Ohm
  (2:31 PM)

Trust me, the Giants writers have been extremely busy with Plaxico and Osi and trying to figure out what was going on with Bradshaw, Smith, Boss and Jacobs restructuring deal, etc. It has been anything but slow as far as Giants news. Zach looks like he'll be heading to Raiders or Seattle. Barnett is going to Buffalo I believe.

MrNick (Upstate NY )

Hey Ohm... don't you think that Eli...the captian / QB... should lead the way by offering to restructure his contract so our G-men can sign some more difference makers? Thanks

Ohm
  (2:32 PM)

Eli was asked about Peyton's contract and how he was willing not to take a monster contract to try and help his team and Eli smiled and called it "noble." We'll see but I haven't seen any indication that that will happen.

Darren (Long Island)

Although the Giants resigned Bradshaw and will most likely resign Kevin Boss and Steve Smith, the squad still has holes at the linebacker position, defensive tackle position, and offensive. Do you see Jerry Reese making any moves to address these needs? Also do you see the Giants trying to resign Deon Grant, so they can get back into their three saftey look defense.

Ohm
  (2:33 PM)

They are looking at Gabe Watson today for DT. Grant's number has been given to rookie RB Da'Rel Scott. Perhaps later in free agency, they could look at him but right now, they want to bring back Boss and Smith and go from there.

Dan (New Jersey)

What are the chances Kevin Gilbride's mustache gets cut in training camp? It's been hanging around on the Giants for years, and has consistently underperformed.

Ohm
  (2:34 PM)

I like Gilbride's mustache! LOL.

Steve (New Jersey)

Mike Garafolo of the Star Ledger blogged an interesting solution to the Osi situation: Tear up the last year of the contract and add incentives to the current year of his deal. What do you think? and what are the chances the Giants could do this or something as creative to keep him?

Ohm
  (2:35 PM)

I saw that. It is interesting. I don't know what the chances are of them doing this. But I do think the Giants are either going to have to lower their price and accept a package for Osi or find some way, some middle ground, to appease Osi. I just don't think he's going to play for this contract. I am sure the Giants will try to call his bluff though.

yoplin (Monterrey, Mexico)

Dear OHM, I'm just curious why there is (basically) no info on Steve Smith and Kevin Boss. If possible, can you give us a description of where we're at?

Ohm
  (2:35 PM)

Again, don't want to diss ya'll's questions here but I answered Smith and Boss earlier... thanks.

Dave (New Jersey)

What do you think the likely hood of Chad Jones ever playing for the Giants is? Is his rehab going well? I read the article about his camp in LA but im wondering if he will ever be back to his LSU form.

Ohm
  (2:37 PM)

Chad said last night he's 70 percent back. Goal is to return next year. I think he will get a chance to do that and see how his leg responds in camp next year. Giants are going to waive him (he's injured) so they can put him on the non-football injury list so they can keep him this season.

joeyunit (new york)

how do you like the giants secondary heading into the season?

Ohm
  (2:38 PM)

Very early but Phillips looks more decisive this year, less hesitation due to knee injury. Giants expecting big step forward from him this season. Sash has size as far as muscle. Looks like a gritty hitter. But of course, no contact so far in practice. Webster looked good last night. Thomas is solid. Ross is having up and down camp so far. No Prince yet.

Mike N. (Staten Island)

Osi's hypocrisy talk is ridiculous. Yes, the owners can cut whenever they want, but the players are protected by that by taking a big chunk of their salaries up front in signing bonuses. Not to mention that Osi had one dynamite year, last year. He hasn't played like a top 5 DE for the last two years, or even for most of his career. What am I missing here?

Ohm
  (2:39 PM)

Osi wants to capitalize on last year, bottom line. And he he is underpaid, especially when you see what Charles Johnson just got.

mike (oklahoma)

what dt's do you see starting for the giants in week 1 ?

Ohm
  (2:40 PM)

Well, Giants are going to meet with Gabe Watson today, but Linval Joseph is the starter right now based on practice. Marvin Austin is second team.

Drew (NY)

Is Steve Smith going to healthy for week 1?

Ohm
  (2:41 PM)

Gun to my head, no. And if he is ready and is active, need to be patient with him as far as how he plays. Might take him a while to get back to his old form.

Richie London (Myrtle Beach, SC)

How are the Giants going to address their deficiency at LB?

Ohm
  (2:42 PM)

If you believe Jerry Reese, he will address it with the guys he has on his roster. Sintim needs to step up and see what the young guys can do such as Greg Jones, Adrian Tracy, Mark Herzlich, Phillip Dillard, etc.

Evan (Brooklyn)

If Boss leaves who is out there to bring in at TE?

Ohm
  (2:43 PM)

Good question. They agreed to terms with Ben Patrick yesterday. But my guess is they would have to look and see who else is out there or go with Beckum and Patrick.

Dennis (New York, NY)

Ohm now that the giants have dropped hedgecock who do you think will be starting at the FB position?

Ohm
  (2:44 PM)

They can go with Bear Pascoe and they signed rookie Henry Hynoski from Pitt.

Jerry (Charlotte, NC)

Snagged some free tickets to the Giants/Panthers preseason game next weekend, any chance I'll see starters for more than a series or two considering the shortened timeframe the league is operating under?

Ohm
  (2:45 PM)

Good question. Because of the lockout, Coughlin could want to see what his starters have to offer. But I think, also because no offseason program, and worried about health of starters, they'll play probably a series.

Ohm
  (2:45 PM)

Maybe two.

Jarrett (NJ)

Now that we heard the whole LB story from Fewel/Reese is it fair to say the fans overreacted to the LB situation? From their perspective the Giants have growing LBs that deserve a shot first. It is silly to think linebacking groups should be made entirely of veteran FAs.

Ohm
  (2:46 PM)

I understand how the fans feel. Sintim hasn't produced yet and is coming off ACL surgery. But they have drafted a ton of LBs from Sintim to Dillard to Greg Jones. Reese wants to see these guys step up and see what they can do.

Dan (New York)

What's the status of contract negotiations between the giants and Boss, Smith, Amukamara and Blackburn?

Ohm
  (2:47 PM)

Just wanted to answer this question with Blackburn... if you believe in signs, they gave Blackburn's number away already. Perhaps later, they may bring him in. Don't know. Got to see them handle their bigger guys first. I think they can use him on special teams though. But I think they made it a priority to improve their special teams by drafting the guys they did.

Drew (NYC)

Do you think the Giants are trying to get younger to combat another late season collapse?

Ohm
  (2:48 PM)

I do think they are trying to get younger and they hope more explosive. Look at Beatty, Sintim, stepping into big positions. Joseph and Austin trying to help replace Cofield. We'll see if that lasts.

Steve Fredericks (East Rutherford NJ)

Hey Ohm, what UDFA's on the roster now do you see as potential breakout players for 2011?

Ohm
  (2:50 PM)

Very very early Steve. I'd like to see what Herzlich can do. Hynoski could get a real chance at FB. Paysinger has also been sharing reps on third team linebacker. Although they are not UDFAs, Kenny Ingram has intriguing size at LB and QB Ryan Perrilloux has a nice arm, could be practice squad guy.

CB (NJ)

Haven't heard anything about Greg Jones LB in practice? Has he been on the field? What is your take on the rest of our LB core? Seems we have a glut of average guys, has anyone stood out?

Ohm
  (2:51 PM)

I wrote a note about him in my practice report on the blog last night. He has been getting third-team reps at middle linebacker and has shared some with Herzlich with third team. He is a bit short but he looks like a linebacker. I think he can stick. Is a matter of him learning terminology right now.

jose (nyer-n-fl)

if the g-men get rid of osi, can jpp handle it. and will barden become the red-zone threat we need

Ohm
  (2:53 PM)

Kiwi and JPP will handle that spot. Probably Kiwi starts there unless Fewell wants Kiwi to start at linebacker and then let the two share time at DE based on situations. Barden is on PUP list right now. Has to get healthy first.

Alex (CT)

Will the Giants maybe look at Braylon Edwards or Malcolm Floyd since they lost out on Burress? Also who would the Giants target for LBs if they were looking to add one at this point?

Ohm
  (2:54 PM)

I think they are happy with their receivers right now. Don't see them pouring more money into that position. As far as LB, I think you have to wait for them to re-sign Smith and Boss and see if they can add a low-cost veteran. That's my guess.

Ryan (Egypt)

What's up Ohm? I don't think it's as far fetched as some make it out to be that someone will cough up the money along with a first rounder for Osi with him being a proven player and some teams seeming desolate at that position. What team do you think has the most interest?

Ohm
  (2:55 PM)

Seattle, San Diego, Baltimore, St. Louis and Denver have been reported to be interested. I can see St. Louis because of the Spags connection. But Adam Schefter says no team willing to part with a #1.

Devon (DC)

Why doesn't Osi understand that we have no cap space? Increasing his deal would force us to cut other players which ironically he sites in his email to the AP

Ohm
  (2:56 PM)

I think he knows that. But he also has to protect himself. And that is what he's basically doing. But you got a point.

Jack (Chicago, IL)

Giants look like a pretty lopsided team from my view. What do you predict the Giants record is going to be this year?

Ohm
  (2:57 PM)

Lopsided how? Better defense than offense? My guess, RIGHT NOW assuming Boss and Smith return, is 10 wins and hope that's enough for playoff spot.

RJ (NY)

You blew the chat off for breaking news? C'mon Ohm, you're better than that. I blew off a meeting for this chat - looks like I'm more dedicated to this chat than you are

Ohm
  (2:58 PM)

Hahahaha. RJ, if I came to chat with you, then you would be complaining that I was late on reporting. No-win situation. Trust me, I love chatting with you guys. Right now the questions are pouring in and I can't check to see if there is anything going on with the Giants while I chat with you guys. So if something breaks, don't blame me.

Bill (Long Beach)

Ohm, I was sorry to see O' Hara and Suebert go - - they'll always be Great Giants, but unfortunately they're both on the wrong side of 30, coming off major injuries. I don't think will see them play another down anywhere. Can this soon to be revamped o-line keep number 10 upright? If not we're in huge trouble.

Ohm
  (2:59 PM)

We'll find out. I think O'Hara plays this year. And Seubert possibly could later in the year.

Dan (New Jersey)

Did the Giants actually put up an offer for Plax? If so what was it?

Ohm
  (3:00 PM)

Yes, they did. Reports are they offered $4 million contract but most of it non-guaranteed.

Dan (New York)

What is the 'Breaking News' you mentioned in your first chat response?

Ohm
  (3:00 PM)

I don't even remember, something happened last week and that is why I couldn't pop on the chat. Oh wait, I think I remember now. O'Hara and Seubert were released.

Sean (Manhattan)

With the new look Eagles Defensive backfield how do you think the Giants young WR's and QB Eli Manning will fare? As this looks to be the toughest matchup the Giants will face this year. Thanks!

Ohm
  (3:01 PM)

Definitely going to be real tough. Eli threw four picks last year vs Eagles, if I remember correctly. Now he has to deal with Nnamdi on Hakeem Nicks. Whew.

Steve (Jersey)

How well would the pass rush hold up if Osi leaves and they have to put Tollefson as the 4th DE?

Ohm
  (3:02 PM)

Tollefson has not been re-signed. Giants trying to bring back Smith and Boss for now. But they did give Tollefson's number away already, whatever that's worth.

Anthony (Bergenfield)

Hey Ohm, what's up? Was curious as to why the Giants didn't go after any LB's like Tulloch from the Titans or Ruud from the Bucs. Would it just have cost too much?

Ohm
  (3:02 PM)

Think so.

Ohm
  (3:02 PM)

Plus, Giants say they want to develop their own.

Jon T (Syracuse, NY)

So you're on twitter and on this chat? Awesome multi-tasking bro!

Ohm
  (3:04 PM)

I stopped. Not that talented. LOL.

Jeremy (Rockland)

If the Giants were over the cap with the roster they had last year, what are they gonna do when Tuck, Nicks, KP, etc. are due for big raises?

Ohm
  (3:04 PM)

Very good question. That's probably why Jerry is trying to be responsible.

Anthony (NYC)

Do we know how much "dead money" the Giants have on the cap and if most of it is cleared out at this point going forward?

Ohm
  (3:05 PM)

Don't think there is any dead money...

Jerry (Charlotte, NC)

The LB situation is looking pretty suspect yet again, any chance the BC kid (Herzlich, spelling?) could have an impact?

Ohm
  (3:05 PM)

He'll have to work his way up from third team but he'll get a shot.

Jon T (Syracuse, NY)

Ohm, I have to agree with you, the Giants will finish second but would they contend for the wild card spot, I am not confident right now.

Ohm
  (3:06 PM)

Give them time homey. Be patient. But I understand where you are coming from.

Mark (Montreal)

Hello Ohm!I have been reading your stuff for a while and have a question for you. I get very frustrated when I read some of these questions and comments posted on various forums due to peoples blatant lack of knowledge and understanding of football. My question to you is how do you react when faced with these questions and comments? Do you get as frustrated as I do? And if so, how do you deal with it to respond to these questions. Thanks

Ohm
  (3:07 PM)

Thanks Mark. Naw, fans are entitled to their opinions. I know they can say hateful things and what not but it's all good man. They are entitled to spout off. Not everyone is going to agree with my opinion.

Ohm
  (3:08 PM)

Guys, I'm trying my hardest to get to as many answers as possible but I got over 300 questions today... bear with me, but I am going to have to leave soon to get back to Giants

Newt (Jacksonville)

Regardless of the one-year extension, if the Giants miss the playoffs this year, is Coughlin gone? Because Bill Cowher is just sittin' there waiting ...

Ohm
  (3:08 PM)

I'd say if the Giants miss a third straight year, Coughlin will probably be out.

Gregg (englewood up to no good)

can you discuss health of Lb specifically boley and sintim

Ohm
  (3:09 PM)

Boley I think is fine. Sintim is coming off ACL surgery but is practicing as first team LB.

Peter (Reseda, CA)

REAL WORLD UPDATE: Snooki running for Senate.

Ohm
  (3:10 PM)

I really have had my head buried in Giants news if that were true! LOL!!!!! Love Snooks!

Jeremy (Rockland)

Giants can't trade Osi... we need all the fast, athletic defenders we can get to chase after Vick!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohm
  (3:10 PM)

Agreed.

Brandon (New Jersey)

Ohm, i've been to two practices so far, i've seen ingram making some plays left and right u think he makes the team this year?

Ohm
  (3:11 PM)

I tell you what, I love the dude's size. He's tall and looks athletic. Could be a numbers game with so many rookies as well. Gotta figure Greg Jones is someone who can make team and Herzlich and Jacquian Williams will figure in as well. The linebacker race will be very interesting.

Ohm's Mom (Home)

Son, you need a vacation.

Ohm
  (3:11 PM)

She just makes sure I don't get sick. LOL.

@DiLugo (Mohegan Lake)

Will the Giants make the playoffs?

Ohm
  (3:12 PM)

Million dollar question. Will 10 wins get them in this year? Didn't last year.

Scott (Northglenn, CO)

Seems like Plaxico would've been a better fit for Big Blue..disappointed they couldn't get something done?

Ohm
  (3:12 PM)

I would have liked to have seen Plax back, complementing Nicks and helping out vs that Eagles secondary. Would have been great in red zone but this is all guessing because who knows what he will look like after two years off.

Ohm's Dad (Home)

Son, vacations are for wussies.

Ohm
  (3:13 PM)

Says the Dad who's vacationing in Thailand right now. LOL.

Jon T (Syracuse, NY)

Thoughts on Sage, will he stay or go?

Ohm
  (3:14 PM)

They did bring in David Carr... Sage will probably have to restructure his contract. Sage has a $3 million base number.

Scott (Northglenn, CO)

Does it seem like Victor Cruz will be the slot WR to start the season?

Ohm
  (3:14 PM)

Ooh, I don't know about that. Let's see if Cruz makes the team first. He has a lot of WRs to go through and Devin Thomas is off to a good start so far.

Tim (New Haven)

My man Ohm! Any chance the Giants go after Braylon Edwards if Steve Smith goes to another team?

Ohm
  (3:15 PM)

I'd say probably not, but if Smith leaves... maybe they look at another WR.

Ohm's Woman (Home)

Lets go on a cruise

Ohm
  (3:15 PM)

She doesn't like cruises. Just wants to fly to the beach right away. LOL.

Jon T (Syracuse, NY)

LB, OL, S is the list I would look to improve in that order. Any thoughts?

Ohm
  (3:16 PM)

Might want to add DT for a veteran just in case too. But I like where your head's at.

Name Withheld (Location Withheld)

You realize that's not really Osi who asked that question in the chat right?

Ohm
  (3:17 PM)

Yes buddy. You clearly are new to this chat. I answer anybody who puts their name after a player as if I am talking to them, that includes Snooki.

Ed (The Bronx )

Ohm my brother! Whats the word on Chase Blackburn, and I just looked at the Giants depth chart and I think I may hurl, but trying to remain optimistic!

Ohm
  (3:18 PM)

They gave his number away, he remains unsigned. Think they are trying to bring in Smith and Boss first. But they have a ton of LBs on the roster. I think they want to see what they got and see if guys like Jones, Herzlich, Williams, Paysinger, Ingram, Dillard can help on special teams.

Ron (Swamps of Jersey)

Do you think Da'Rel Scott has a legit shot at the 3rd RB spot? I've heard the kid is a burner and he was good at Maryland the last few years

Ohm
  (3:19 PM)

You know what, he has size. I haven't seen the speed yet but he is taking limited reps so far and running backs are hard to really gauge in non-contact practices. Ware could be the third-down back. He made some nice catches in practice so far. Coughlin says he is more confident.

FANFAVE (NYC)

Does KIWI get looks at a spot like D Grant played last season?

Ohm
  (3:21 PM)

I think he will get look at LB but on those passing situations... could he line up there but then pass rush, sure. Could be an Aaron Ross standing there or maybe Amukamara if he learns quick enough. We'll see.

Mark (DC)

Ohm, you shouldn't use one contract to justify another (Charles Johnson). By that logic Eli Manning should be making just under the debt ceiling because of what JaMarcus Russell got

I didn't... Osi threw it out there. And Bradshaw also talked about DeAngelo's contract. Hard for these players to not try to compare their deals.

Tyron (Plattsburgh)

How about cutting Eli, who throws three INTs playing fetch with his dog (when he doesn't fumble trying to slide), and letting Sage and Carr battle it out for the starting job?

Ohm

Dude...

Chris (Jersey)

As of right now, who are the projected starting linebackers for the Giants? Do you see them signing anyone else?

Ohm
  (3:23 PM)

Sintim, Goff and Boley. Unless they get somebody else, looks like that.

Naming my kid Ohm (New York)

Ramsey Barden, is he ganna have any contributions this yr? and is linval Joseph good enough to start at DT???

Ohm
  (3:24 PM)

Love the name homey. Ramses is on the PUP list right now. I think he has a chance, he did well in limited time last year before getting hurt. I think Linval starts unless Giants add a veteran DT. And you know that Reese loves his D-linemen!

Dennis (New York)

Ohm i was a little surprised to see the giants get Madison Hedgecock. Who have the giants been putting at Fullback during training camp?

Ohm
  (3:25 PM)

Hedgecock had a back problem according to Star-Ledger. Pascoe and Hynoski could be the FBs.

FANFAVE (NYC)

Who is the 3rd WR - Hixon? D. Thomas? 3rd rd pick?

Ohm
  (3:26 PM)

Could be Jernigan or Hixon if Barden isn't healthy and Smith isn't ready, if he's re-signed.

Jc (Fort Myers, Fl)

Do you think if Eli would have spoken out in favor Plax would be a Giant like your colleague Steven A. Smith points out or does he just go to the highest bidder as most people think?

Ohm
  (3:27 PM)

Eh, I don't know... I think that had more to do with playing for Coughlin or Rex and money. Perhaps it would've helped. Eli certainly did not sound all that enthusiastic about a reunion.

Ian (The Adirondacks)

Ohm you think the G-MEN might actually beat the Eagles at least once this year?

Ohm
  (3:28 PM)

I think they'll get one. They were too close last year not to. Rivalry is a heated one. But gonna be real tough.

Anthony (NYC)

How has Jernigen looked? As quick as advertised?

Ohm
  (3:29 PM)

Quick. But small. Kinda exciting. Hard to tell, so early. But he's one I want to keep an eye on.

Ohm
  (3:30 PM)

Alright guys, I went overtime, hour and a half. Sooooo sorry I couldn't get to everybody's questions. Hope to see you guys next week. Hopefully by then, we'll know more of what Giants will look like. Thanks for all the questions.
