Chat with Bill Williamson

Bill Williamson
  (2:01 PM)

Hi everyone, let's get rolling.BW.

Dr. H. Doofenshmirtz (Tri-State Area)

What's the early word on Terrelle Pryor?

Bill Williamson
  (2:03 PM)

He's a work in progress. He is practicing. On Sunday, Oakland coach Hue Jackson said Pryor would play Friday night at Seattle in the preseaosn finale. However, Wednesday, Jackson said he wasn't sure Pryor will play. They don't want to rush him onto the field.

Robbie (DC)

Hagan looks good now that he has a chance to prove himself, you think he will start?

Bill Williamson
  (2:05 PM)

I think he will be in the rotation. He is a relaible guy.

Robbie (DC)

As much as I hate having other AFC West players on my fantasy team since I am a Raiders fan, do you think Lloyd will have another good year in fantasy?

Bill Williamson
  (2:05 PM)

He's been good this summer. People in Dnever don't think he'll be a one-year wonder.

Drew (NY)

Big Bill!, Do u c Baldwin starting in week one, if not then when?

Bill Williamson
  (2:06 PM)

Big Drew, all's been quiet on the BAdlwin frotn since the reported bout with Thoams Jones. I'm nto sure when we'll see him. Week 1 may a stretch.

Bobby The King (Olathe, KS)

Do you think Corey Liuget will start against the Vikings?

Bill Williamson
  (2:08 PM)

Yes, the Charegrs wnat to get Liuget on the field as soon as posisble. They are fired up about him.

Dr. H. Doofenshmirtz (Tri-State Area)

Tebow and Quinn are both the #2 quarterback? Isn't this just ridiculously goofy, considering the new quarterback rules in the CBA?

Bill Williamson
  (2:09 PM)

They won't both be No. 2. One of them (probably Quinn) will be No. 2. John Fox just won't be saying anything publicly.

David (Florida)

J.Ford and McFadden both have prominent roles in Raider offense this year,if both stay healthy? Thanks

Bill Williamson
  (2:10 PM)

No doubt about it. They are both huge in Oakland's plans.

Saulo LA [via mobile]

Why arent the raiders pursuing lofa totapu yo play wlb to replace qroves who clearly isnt the answer

Bill Williamson
  (2:10 PM)

Because Tatupu is natural middle linebacker and he has been injured.

Dr. H. Doofenshmirtz (Tri-State Area)

What was that Baldwin/Jones thing all about, anyway?

dan (milwaukee)

any shockers when it comes to cut time in La Jolla?

Bill Williamson
  (2:13 PM)

KC Quesiton: It has been reported that it was about Baldwin objecting to some type of rookie hazing and it was also reported he had a dispute with Jamaal Chalres before the fight. But no one is talking, so we will likley never know.Chargers' question: Not expecting anything major. There could be some interesting things happening at receiver and linebacker.

Big Vj (Backwoods of Alabama)

Bill should i be worried about my Raiders Run D?????

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

Yes, until they show they can stop the run, it will be an issue. This defense has a chance to be good, but it must stop the run better.

Sweet Weaz (Essexville, MI)

Bill, how's the Chiefs O'line shaping up with Asamoah and Gaither? I've liked what I've seen from there offense the last two years.. and hope that it continues to mature

Bill Williamson
  (2:18 PM)

They like Asomoah a lot. He was the reason why the Chiefs moved away from Brian Waters. Gaither will likley start if he is healthy. He played last week which was a good sign.

Ryan (Denver)

Any potential surprising cuts in store for Denver?

Bill Williamson
  (2:20 PM)

Second-round 2009 pick Darcel McBath and fourth-round 2009 pick David Bruton (both safeties) could be on the chopping block.

Bill Williamson
  (2:23 PM)

I accidently deleted the question, but Keith from New Jersey wanted to know how Oakland rookie CB DeMarcus van Dyke looked against New Orleans.Well, he was torched. But it was the great Drew Brees doing the torching. Van Dyke has had a rough preseason and he is not ready. But that doesn't mean he will never be any good. He is getting good experience and he is very fast. He has a chance.

Jeff (Hospital)

Bill thanks for all your hard work...the Broncos may not get the number one draft pick with all the bad teams out there (Cincinnati, 49ers, Carolina, Minnesota, Buffalo) but regardless they will have a top 5 pick and they will have to look QB right? Orton is going to leave and Tebow likely will not be the guy...your thoughts

Bill Williamson
  (2:24 PM)

Hey Jeff, get well soon ... I think Denver very well will look for a QB. Among the players they could look at if they miss out on Andrew Luck are Matt Barkley, Landry Jones and the kid from Arizona maybe. I'm sure other QBs will emerge as well.

Keith (New Jersey)

is it close to the time to start talking extension with darren mcfadden?

Bill Williamson
  (2:29 PM)

Good quesiton, Keith. McFadden and Johnson came into the league at the same time. Johnson has been great his entire career. McFadden came on strong last season. If McFadden has another huge year this year, he could ask for a new deal. But remember, McFadden was the No. 4 overall pick in 2008 and Johnson went later in the first round, so McFadden has already ben paid a lot. But it soon could be time to think about the second deal.

Target (Oakland)

I would like to think I am pretty godd at this. I see the Raiders going 10-6. What do you think B Dubs??

Bill Williamson
  (2:31 PM)

Give me your reasons, Target.

Bubba (KC)

Hey Bill,How come the Chiefs coverage seems limited compared to other teams? Is there not enough going on? Is that a good thing?

Bill Williamson
  (2:33 PM)

I try to spread it out as much as possible. But the truth is, I spend a lot of time reacting to news. The Chiefs haven't made much news latley. That can be a good thing, sure.

Dr. H. Doofenshmirtz (Tri-State Area)

Are we sure Orton leaves Denver? Where would he go where he would be welcomed as a starter? Besides, the guys not that old, and didn't play much his first few years. And we know that Fox and Elway really like him.

Bill Williamson
  (2:34 PM)

If Orton asa a big year, perhaps Denver will lock him up, sure. But he'd have to play really well for that to happen.

Jeremy (San Diego)

Do you see Michael Bush wearing a Raiders jersey after this season?

Bill Williamson
  (2:36 PM)

I think so, but I thought Asomugha and Miller would stay in Oakland, too. If Bush gets offered a big deak elsewhere, it could be tough to pay that to a No. 2 back. But, again, i wouldn't be shocked if Oakland locked him up during this season.

Peter (Colorado)

Bill, is there any reason to be concerned with the slow offensive start to the Chiefs running and passing game this preseason. I felt great after the draft and the free agent signings but I am now a little concerned. I generally do not put much stock in pre-season but the Chiefs offense has done NOTHING, should I be worried?

Bill Williamson
  (2:37 PM)

That's the way the Chiefs roll in the preseason. Todd Haley is 1-10 in the preseason as the Chiefs' coach. He uses preseason games as another day of training camp. Start worrying if a couple of games pass in the regular seoasn and the offense isn't doing much.

Target (Oakland)

Better coaching, Campbell is ready to make a leap to the next level of QB, running game, improved defense, and more intensity from The Black Hole. What do you think about that?

Bill Williamson
  (2:39 PM)

OK. I liek the coaching, the running game, the young recivers and the defnsive front. But I worry about the O-line, the secondary and the run d.

Nathan (DC)

When you consider how quickly the other teams in the division are improving (which is weird, but true), should Chargers fans be worried that their so-called "window of opportunity" is closing?

Bill Williamson
  (2:39 PM)

Again, as long as Rivers is there, the window is wide open. But, yes, the other teams in the division are improving.

Daylon (Wyoming)

You think the Broncos can expect 2,000 yards from Moreno/McGhahee/3rd back (Johnson/Ball)?

Bill Williamson
  (2:40 PM)

That might be a tad high. But I know John Fox is aiming for it. He'd like to run the ball 500 times.

Keith (New Jersey)

who seems to be the most likely candidate to start opposite of stanford routt at this point?

Bill Williamson
  (2:42 PM)

Chris Johnson, now that he is healthy.

SouthStands (Denver)

Bill...I've given you a reason, but you still don't respond. I'm sure you're looking for guys to tell you what a great job you do, but all of us that are on your blog daily know the truth...Bottom line Bill, you just regurgitate the news...in fact, I don't think I can recall any story that you were out in front of...Denver will surprise this year. The offense wasn't bad last season at all. Anyone who thinks the defense won't finish middle of the pack hasn't been paying attention. My bold prediction...Denver will not finish in the AFC West cellar this year...

Bill Williamson
  (2:42 PM)

There you go, stud.

Lynn (Denver)

Julius Thomas..one game...pre season... but it looks like the kid has potential...what is that potential?

Bill Williamson
  (2:44 PM)

The team is thrilled about him. He is coming along much faster than expected. The fact that he is facing first-team defenses so early is impresive.

Chet (LA)

Bill, I look at the Chiefs offense, and see a ton of weapons. Do you think the addition of Breaston was one of the better 'small' moves for an AFC West team? I think he will help open up the middle of the field for Moeaki and the running lanes for Charles. McCluster could be a big weapon as well. Do you think the Chiefs have a chance to be a top 5 offense this season? They look pretty explosive.

Bill Williamson
  (2:45 PM)

You are right, Chet. I've been talking up the Chiefs' offense all offseason. I see a few 30-point games in their future.

Trevor (Toronto)

do you think the chiefs will look for more oline help or even another ilb through free agency?

Bill Williamson
  (2:47 PM)

I think they will look at takcle, ILB, S, maybe D-line.

Ryan (San Diego)

If the Chargers stay healthy could this finally be the year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:47 PM)

A lot of people think so. They are due for some good health.

billy (sd)

Does Darryl Gamble and Bryan Walters make the cut?

Bill Williamson
  (2:49 PM)

It will be clses for both guys. Walters may have a better chance. Gamble could be a practice squad guy althought it would be a well, a gamble, to expose him to the waiver wire.

John (Neb.)

Which of the 3 Denver QB's will most likely be back next season?

Bill Williamson
  (2:49 PM)

Well, Tebow is the only one currently under contract for 2012.

John (Neb.)

10+ sacks for Von Miller this season?

Bill Williamson
  (2:51 PM)

Projecting a rookie for double-digit sacks is a tall order, but Miller looks like he may be up to the task. He has looked terrifc. he hit the quarterback four times last week in limited playing time.

michael (california)

dont forget about adam weber

Bill Williamson
  (2:52 PM)

Haven't seen enough of him to tell.

bill (bellingham)

Taiwan Jones looks like a Chris Johnson/Jamaal Charles clone with the ball in his hands? What are his weaknesses? How much will he factor into the Raiders' offense?

Bill Williamson
  (2:55 PM)

His weaknesses have been a lack of big-time opponents in college, his size and his durability. But he can fly. He will give teams nightmares on third down. I like him a lot.

Lynn (Denver)

please tell me the broncos will pick someone up with the intentions of NOT having to rely on kevin vickerson playing DT...i may have to start a Tebow to DT rumor for the media.

Bill Williamson
  (2:56 PM)

I have no doubt Dnever will look at DTs in the coming days.

will (san diego)

Would it sadden you to see the Chargers move to LA?

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

I'd be bummed for San Diego fans. I know how much the team means to the city. And I'd be bummed for Bill. I lvoe that town, man.

michael (california)

breaking news. tim tebow has reportedly wanted to play left guard. cant he make the quick adjustment for week 1

Bill Williamson
  (2:58 PM)

I better get on that.

Target (Oakland)

Do you have an opinion on the events at Candlestick and whether or not that game should continue?

Bill Williamson
  (2:59 PM)

We've talked about it before. it was terrible that a few knuckleheads could ruin such a fun traditon. Again, this was just a small fraction of the people there. But it is a reminder how a small group can ruin a good thing for good people.

Keith (New Jersey)

is walter mcfadden a possibility to be cut in the next few days?

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

It's possible. I know they like Sterling Moore, who has been nice so far.

Caleb (Georgia)

Will the Falcons make the Super Bowl?

Bill Williamson
  (3:02 PM)

That's my NFC choice.

Bill Williamson
  (3:02 PM)

OK< folks, got to go. Talk to you next week.
