Chat with Ohm Youngmisuk

Ohm
  (2:59 PM)

Wud up, wud up. What you all got for me? And can someone fill me in on what's going on Jersey Shore? Been too busy to watch. I know one of you all in the familia has been watching!

Keith (Inwood, NY)

Why are the Giants having a problem running the ball?

Ohm
  (3:00 PM)

Good question Keith. I think the offensive line is still meshing with a new center and new left tackle. I don't want to say that this line isn't great at run blocking just yet because it has been only four games. But we'll have to see. The Giants also aren't giving their backs as many carries. Bradshaw pretty much is getting around 15 carries and Jacobs fluctuates from like 7 to 12 carries or so.

Chris (New Jersey)

Hi Ohm just wondering if you think that Prince Amukamara will be thrust into the starting lineup once he recovers from injury? And if he does start how you think he'll play

Ohm
  (3:02 PM)

Chris, I don't see that. I think he will come in as an extra DB. Frankly, I think you will see the three safety-look and then maybe Prince gets in from time to time in certain packages. I think Ross is going to remain the starter unless he struggles or gets hurt. Prince has to learn the system and get back in shape. Could be a few more weeks, perhaps even after the bye.

Jerry (Charlotte, NC)

Just wondering if the Giants would give the Seahawks a call about Aaron Curry, the rumor mill is swirling about him being on the block?

Ohm
  (3:03 PM)

I don't know about all that. I'd be surprised to see if the Giants make any big moves. I'm sure they are monitoring the situation but I don't see any major additions. Just my guess.

Ryan (NY)

Ohm, I can't figure out the NFC east for the life of me. Philly can't be this bad, are they?

Ohm
  (3:05 PM)

Hey Ryan, well... I don't think so. I still think they will get their act together. But this is why it was important for teams to keep coaching staffs intact and not have as much change going into this season due to the lockout. Even though the Eagles' defensive coordinator was already on staff but on offense, it appears the defense is having trouble with the new defensive coordinator and they have flaws elsewhere and guys aren't playing up to their normal levels. I think Andy Reid will get it fixed sooner than later.

Jared (Manhattan)

I have Manningham has my 2nd fantasy WR, should I drop him for Cruz?

Ohm
  (3:06 PM)

Jared, no. I would not drop Manningham. If you have somebody else you can drop for Cruz, then I'd consider it. I still think Mario is the No. 2 WR even if Cruz did play with Nicks as the top two receivers for one drive while Mario watched. Mario was coming off a concussion. I think Cruz is going to produce given the opportunities but I still think it's Nicks, Manningham and Cruz on depth chart unless Mario struggles for a few more weeks and Cruz shines.

Greg S (New Jersey)

Will Tuck be back in week 5 and why was Manningham not very involved in the passing game against Arizona?

Ohm
  (3:08 PM)

Tuck says he will take it to the weekend to see if he can get the neck pain to quiet down. Sounds like another potential weekend decision. As for Manningham, just posted in previous answer. He was out there. On one particular drive, he wasn't and watched Cruz. But he was out there quite a bit. Manning just was locked on Nicks and Cruz. Perhaps he was still feeling effects of concussion. Who knows. We'll see this week.

Fanfave (NYC)

Whats up with these burners - Tuck and now Baas?...whats the prognosis....???

Ohm
  (3:08 PM)

No update yet. We should find out more from Coughlin tomorrow. Dude, be glad it's a burner and not an ACL.

bombasticview (New York)

Brandon Jacobs looks awful, he avg 2 yds a carry and missed a clean up block that almost got Eli killed last week He is 47th in the league in rushing overall and his comments about fans are offensive- when are we going to see Danny Ware get some snaps over Jacobs ?

Ohm
  (3:10 PM)

Bombastic... doubt it man. You may see DJ come out on an occasional screen and third down but it's still going to be Bradshaw and Jacobs. He did score that touchdown and he had that terrific catch last week vs Philly. Offensive line has to block better.

Ron M (Yardley, PA)

How do you see the Giants addressing the run defense issues without sacrificing what they've been able to do against the pass?

Ohm
  (3:10 PM)

Got to find ways to open more holes. I still think Gilbride will always call passing plays so you won't see that compromised.

Giants fan (Burlington, VT)

Whats up Ohm....great win by the Giants this past Sunday...but what is the update on Tuck?

Ohm
  (3:12 PM)

Here's the Tuck story everybody: http://proxy.espn.go.com/blog/new-york/giants/post/_/id/7467/tuck-is-working-for-the-weekend

iPhone 4S (Cupertino)

I underperform ...

Ohm
  (3:13 PM)

Guys, can you give me an update on the new i-phone. Thinking about getting my first one. So it's the 4S and not the i-phone5? Does that mean a 5 will come out later and I shouldn't get the 4s yet? LOL

Jeff (San Diego)

Hey Ohm, just wondering if it's smart to start mcluster over jahvad best this week

Ohm
  (3:13 PM)

Jeffie... I like McCluster and am waiting for him to finally produce. But I would NOT bench Jahvid, especially in PPR. He's playing on MNF. Lions will be HYPED.

Zack (IL)

What is the timetable on Prince's return..Will he see time right away?

Ohm
  (3:15 PM)

Coughlin said last week he's a ways away. He was seen slowly backpedaling and doing some corner drills. It could be a few weeks before he returns and with the bye in three weeks, who knows, they might just hold him out until then. And when he does come back, my guess is he will slowly be brought in as an extra DB.

PB (Pway)

Turn that autoupdate on please. Your thoughts on how to stop the seahawks. run the ball? pass? and what do the giants defense need to do to contain tjax

Ohm
  (3:17 PM)

Auto-update has been on since start. Tell me if it isn't working. Giants are focused on improving the run defense. I think facing teams that can pass has been the problem. The Giants have been using a lot of two linebackers, three safeties. I am wondering if we will see more 4-3 this week with Greg Jones out there. They take Jones out to guard against the pass and use the speedier Jacquian Williams to rush the QB and cover RBs.

Tim (New Haven)

My man Ohm! I'm still confused with the Giants' approach on 3rd and short. Why do they have Braddshaw running up the gut with Jacobs on the sidelines? That's Jacobs' speacialty!

Ohm
  (3:17 PM)

Well, they say it depends on the running play called. Perhaps they like Bradshaw's decisiveness. But they did use Jacobs on goal line and got the TD. So that is what you want to see.

Ken (Brooklyn, NY)

I know Justin Tuck's status is questionable? But what is the time table for Prince Amukamara? What week will we see his debut?

Ohm
  (3:18 PM)

Answered this earlier but wanted to get your question in... don't know, could be a few more weeks.

john (seattle)

do i start Colston this week fresh off his collarbone injury?

Ohm
  (3:19 PM)

So you left him on your bench last week. I don't know how many snaps he played last week but I would monitor the news on him this week and see what Payton says as far as how much he plays. I don't know who else are your options at WR.

Ed (The Bronx, NY)

Ohm Dome, Wutup Kid?! Are the Giants rookies (Herzlich, Sash, Paysinger, Hynoski) actually as good of friends as Twitter shows?

Ohm
  (3:20 PM)

Ed, yes, I think so. We don't see them together too often because we only get an hour in the locker room. But I believe so. I think all the rookies are tight, Jones, Jacquian Williams thrown in there too.

Phil (Westchester)

Ohm, great work. Whats been going on with the Giants run defense. They are getting absolutely shredded the last two games. Is this more of a scheme probably or does it highlight the lack of talent at linebacker?

Ohm
  (3:22 PM)

I think after having trouble with the pass early in the season, Giants went to three safeties and two LBs with Boley and either Kiwanuka or Williams in there and that has perhaps made them more susceptible to the run. An injured Tuck doesn't help. Greg Jones is their best run-stopping linebacker and he isn't on field as much because they guard more vs pass and like what Williams can do rushing QB, etc. We could see more 4-3 this Sunday.

mo (brooklyn)

why didnt the cards throw at aaron ross more considering the problems hes been having in man coverage?

Ohm
  (3:22 PM)

Ross actually has been better the last two weeks. But I think they were trying to get the ball to Fitzgerald and they were also having great success running the ball.

Primo (Elmont, NY)

How do you feel about that controversial rule on the field with Cruz downing the ball? I want to hear your take on it. Should it be a fumble. or ruled down?

Ohm
  (3:23 PM)

I do think that Cruz thought he was down and tagged but I think the Giants were fortunate to get that call. Probably should have been a fumble.

Zack (IL)

Whats the deal with Prince? Are we going to try to make any moves before the deadline for maybe a LB?

Ohm
  (3:25 PM)

Prince will be updated later this week. Could be a few weeks away. I doubt they make a move for another linebacker. ProFootballTalk reported that the Giants cap number is $70,000 right now. That can change at any time since Giants can always restructure deals and what not but if that is true, they won't be making any major moves. And that's not really the Giants thing anyway to make a move in mid season like that.

Denard Robinson (Ann Arbor)

Is this the time management they teach you over in East Lansing?

Ohm
  (3:25 PM)

Please, please, please, please remain undefeated for when U-M comes to East Lansing. Please beat Northwestern.

RJ (NY)

Ohm, I was as big of a Jersey Shore junkie as their was, and I can't get into this season. It's time for a new cast or something

Ohm
  (3:26 PM)

For reals?

dan (brooklyn)

do you think ramses barden will have a place in this offense when he comes back ? the gmen figured out their 3rd wr problem ? the te problem seems a bit tougher. i like ballard but we need more production? do you see gilbride going more 4 wr or giving beckum more of a chance ? maybe passing more to the rbs and hynoski ? lots of options.

Ohm
  (3:29 PM)

A lot of questions Danny boy. First, we'll have to see where Ramses' health is. But I do think he could see some limited snaps since they have used some 4-wide. But I think the Giants have three wides now with Cruz emerging. If you are asking me about the slot... well, I think they want Cruz to be their slot guy and maybe Manningham can see some snaps in there too in time. As for Beckum, Giants have thrown him out there, sometimes in slot or as a fourth receiver. I have a feeling the Giants like the production they are getting from the tight end spot. Even when they had Boss, they didn't throw a ton to the tight end in the offense. Came in spurts.

Snooki (Florence)

I gained weight. Predictably.

Ohm
  (3:29 PM)

Really? Last I saw she was always on the phone with some boyfriend fighting all the time.

RJ (NY)

To answer PB's question on how to stop the Seahawks: Their QB is Tavaris Jackson. 'nuff said

Ohm
  (3:29 PM)

There you go...

Ken (Brooklyn, NY)

I noticed that Eli have been much better for the past weeks. Eli have been underrated due to the fact that he had 25 interceptions last season. Do you believe that he will do as well in December? And whats the status on David Baas?

Ohm
  (3:30 PM)

Well Ken, you got some Eli haters in this chat usually and Eli defenders. I'll let you all duke it out. As for Baas, no update. Should be one tomorrow.

Zack (IL)

Our second half is murderers row, we gotta win the next three in my opinion...any chance we try to pickup a LB before the deadline?

Ohm
  (3:31 PM)

I think the Giants would be in great shape if they win the next three. Because you gotta figure they will hit tough times when they see New England, New Orleans, Green Bay and Eagles and Cowboys somewhere. As for LB, I'd be somewhat surprised if they do. They like their LBs.

"Swoop" (Philly )

We will still win the East, and the funny thing is, you all know it! Fly eagles fly. #justamatteroftime

Ohm
  (3:32 PM)

Well, my pick before the season began were the Eagles. I also said Giants would win 10 games. So I'll stand by those two picks.

RJ (NY)

Dating advice: If you're bouncing between two girls, how long before you have to pick one? Two weeks, a month, two months?

Ohm
  (3:34 PM)

It depends... what's the proximity? Are they cool with just dating or do they want to be exclusive? How much do you like them or do you like one more than the other or will you start to like one a lot. In the meantime, I'd be upfront in saying you don't want anything serious right now, survey the defense and play all road games kid.

Ed (The Bronx, New York)

Peyton Hillis on a bye, so who do I put in as my FLEX and Two WR's. Choices are out of Jordy Nelson,Mccluster, AJ Green, and Santonio Holmes.

Ohm
  (3:34 PM)

I think I go with all three receivers there.

luis (miami, fl)

do you think the giants have a good chance making the playoffs this year with philly doing bad and as of now the only competition i see in the division are the redskins.

Ohm
  (3:35 PM)

Luis my friend, it is still very very early. If you are a Giants fan, then you know that you need to worry more about the second half of a season then the first half.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

What AFC East Team do you think will be the Hardest for the Giants to face This Season?

Ohm
  (3:35 PM)

Patriots.

Zack (IL)

I had to say it but by the schedule it looks like a late season Giant collapse...Any way this can be avoided again?

Ohm
  (3:36 PM)

Yeah Zack... win. I don't know how to answer this question any other way. LOL.

MItch (NJ)

Ohm- I thought Arizona DB Peterson showed good potential last week against Nicks. I know he got burned at the end, but he was in his face all game. We picked Prince ahead of him-- if he's as good as Peterson I think we'll be ok-- thoughts...

Ohm
  (3:37 PM)

Of course, if Prince were as good as Peterson, he would have went a lot higher. Temper the expectations for Prince. He hasn't had any practice time really and has to learn the defense and get healthy while up to speed in the middle of the season. Temper the expectations.

Ken (Brooklyn, NY)

Understood LB Johnathan Goff is out. Who do you think is the Giants' current biggest LB contributor?

Ohm
  (3:38 PM)

Boley. He's taken a major step toward being a leader on this team. He relays the calls now into the huddle and has made plays.

C.C. Brown (Scrap Heap)

The iPhone 4S is actually my long-lost brother.

Ohm
  (3:38 PM)

Geez, that bad? For reals?

jose (nyer n fl)

ohm wud up, loved the lisa lisa stuff, can u feel the beat? i feel dan G, nfc east writer, is way too hard on the g-men being #10 on the power ranking. can you read his post and let us know what you think? also eli is the best qb in the nfc east hands down

Ohm
  (3:40 PM)

I just heard that song today! I still am in love with Lisa Lisa. I don't think Dan is being too hard. I think he is trying to be objective. I haven't read the power rankings yet. Right now, Eli is playing terrific. I won't take anything away from him. Let's just see how it all shakes out. Vick did have nearly 500 yards of total offense on Sunday and if his defense doesn't break down, Eagles win.

pb (Pway)

haha true their qb is tavaris but the thing is, we are bad against the run and he can actually run the ball. just wondering what the game plan with that is since greg jones is used against the run but against vick, we used williams. how's that?

Ohm
  (3:41 PM)

Because Williams is faster and was the spy on Vick. Vick is a guy who will throw or run. Need Williams' speed in that situation. Jones is better suited for stopping running backs.

Zack (IL)

Dont forget TJack came into meadowlands in 07' and beat the Giants

Ohm
  (3:42 PM)

Just make sure to stop Sidney Rice.

Tim (New Haven)

I know this may be a stretch, but do you think the Giants will try and extend Nicks to a contract sooner rather than later? The future looks bright for ELi/Nicks duo.

Ohm
  (3:42 PM)

It's always possible. I think that is one reason why Giants didn't sign people to big contracts this year. They want to keep space for re-signing many of their own guys or handing out extensions.

Mark (DC)

Snooki flashed her lady parts to some people in the club and her boyfriend dumped her. I think that was two episodes ago

Ohm
  (3:43 PM)

Oh Snooks.

Andrew (Ann Arbor)

Sparty sucks!

Ohm
  (3:43 PM)

Again, please, please, please remain undefeated. Please beat the Wildcats so Michigan will be undefeated going into East Lansing. That is all I ask.

Rossy C (Motown)

If Baas injury persists, wouldn't a call to Shaun O'Hara be in order? No offense to Boothe, but...

Ohm
  (3:44 PM)

Hmm... I think they like Boothe and Snee can handle center as well. Depends on what their salary cap situation is. I'll say this: always a possibility but I think they stand put.

Ryan (NY)

"Swoop" -- Philly isn't winning in Buffalo this week. Enjoy 1-4. At least the Phillies are in good shape in the NLDS. Oh wait, they aren't either... At least Rocky is still the best picture ever

Ohm
  (3:45 PM)

I'm looking forward to that game.

Andrew (Ann Arbor)

if Coughlin pulls off a playoff birth this year, is he back? Or are we still figuring out where Bill Cowher is? Oh and this wolverine sporty matchup seems destined for an epic battle...

Ohm
  (3:46 PM)

Well, if they get to playoffs and win a couple of games, I can see him coming back. Even if they just make the playoffs. Coughlin is a good coach. As for UM-MSU, my biggest worry is Greg Jones is gone and nobody to spy on Denard and the secondary is shaky. Love the front defensive line. And Kirk Cousins needs to get his act together during this bye week because he's regressing in my mind.

Zack (IL)

LOL how bad was CC Brown when he played for the Giants in 2009??

Ohm
  (3:47 PM)

Let's hope the i-Phone 4S isn't as bad.

Primo (Elmont, NY)

I'm liking the lead over the "dream team" Eagles right now. Do you think the Giants will become healthier when they face them in the Meadowlands again? Do you know if Prince will be back then?

Ohm
  (3:48 PM)

Prince better be back by then. That game is a ways from now. I wouldn't sleep on the Eagles just yet. I think Giants need to keep winning and keep a gap going between them and Eagles and Cowboys.

Dan (Little Cairo)

In regards to Tuck, I think you sit him until the bye week and let him get about a month without practicing/playing and get him back to full strength for the stretch run. The next three games are winnable with or without Tuck and he obviously isn't himself out there. Let him rest his neck and groin and come back after the bye and dominate. Thoughts?

Ohm
  (3:49 PM)

Dan, I would agree. Keeping Tuck off field will be difficult. But it appears he is going to be smart about it. I wouldn't be surprised if they did that. I would co-sign on it for at least this week.

Phil (New York)

Hey ohm, Eli's been throwing alot better lately. Do you think his starting to earn the respect he deserves and considers himself an elite qb? His qb rating is off the charts at the moment. I got nicks making the pro bowl this year, your thoughts? Lastly, how far do you think this team can go?

Ohm
  (3:51 PM)

We kinda had this same discussion in the chat last year around this time when the Giants were cruising. I think after they destroyed Seattle, fans got on me for giving Eli a mid-season grade of B or B-. I can't remember. Of course, nobody was arguing by the end of the season. It's a long year. Eli is playing lights out. Best thing is he is not turning the ball over. But the schedule will get much more difficult. I will say this, Eli deserves props for doing all this after the lockout stole his offseason and ability to train with receivers with a coaching staff watching. He has been great. As for how far this team goes... I'm sticking to 10 games. It would really help my prediction if they win the next three or at least two of the next three.

Shawn J (DE)

Ohm, do you agree with Manningham that Nicks, Cruz, & Manningham can be better than Smith, Nicks

Ohm
  (3:52 PM)

Not yet. Give it time. Steve Smith was a Pro Bowl receiver.

Andrew (Ann Arbor)

Ohm, how excited are you for these BROOKLYN NETS?

Ohm
  (3:52 PM)

I like it. What I love even more is Jay-Z playing at the new arena!

Christopher (Staten Island)

Ohm, thanks for the work you put in even though your not a Giants fan! What does it take for Reese to pay Osi? The guy gets a strip sack in his first game at a very imprtant time and he gets a phenomenally important sack that pushed Kolb back ten yards when the Cards needed every yard they could get. Osi is the real deal and I doubted him but he proved it that game. We need him.

Ohm
  (3:54 PM)

Chris, it's probably not best business to pay a guy after one game. The Giants already knew what Osi can do. He had 11.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles last year. They know what he can do. If they choose to give him an extension, it will be after the year is done. Osi was great in limited snaps. Let's hope the knee holds up.

Zack (IL)

I picked up Cruz in fantasy..is it safe to say he is a viable #2 for the Giants and should get many more touches?

Ohm
  (3:54 PM)

Not yet. I still got Mario number 2. As for more targets... perhaps. Let's see. I'll break it down in "My Fantasy" this Saturday on Giants blog.

Tootle Goodle (Wonka's chocolate Factory)

Why isn't Tyler Sash from Iowa starting??? He's a hard-hitting, really smart safety....

Ohm
  (3:55 PM)

Because he has Antrel Rolle, Kenny Phillips and Deon Grant ahead of him.

Tim (New Haven)

Yanks/Tigers who ya got tonight?

Ohm
  (3:56 PM)

I'm not hating against Tigers but I'd like to see Yanks win to see a fifth game.

Drew ((NY))

Wut Up Big OHM! Long time no chat. What do u think about Eli this weekend. Could this be the weekend clicks with all the receivers? I feel it's coming soon

Ohm
  (3:56 PM)

Could be, they destroyed Seattle last year. Even so, I want to see it vs the elite teams they face later this season. That would be something.

Jc (Fort Myers, FL)

Real quick Ohm I think they didn't do much running since the Cards strength is up front and give up alot of passing yards. Makes sense to go through the air if its working. Your thoughts?

Ohm
  (3:57 PM)

You think like Gilbride. But I would say this, this team has to always establish the run because they are very good at play-action. And Coughlin teams historically win when the running game gets going.

Ohm
  (3:58 PM)

Alright guys, thanks for the questions. See you all next week! And send me your fantasy questions later this Thursday and this weekend in the My Fantasy Q&A in the Giants blog. Thanks
