Devin is here!

Chase Leavitt (Salt Lake City)

Mr. Harris, what are you doing to capitalize on your unusually open/available October?CSL

Devin Harris
  (4:31 PM)

Chase, I actually am going back to school and finishing up my degree.

lou (slc)

how long do you think it will take for the Jazz to learn to play together under Coach Corbin's system?

Devin Harris
  (4:32 PM)

Good question. Obviously, we have to get on the court first. We have a good mixture of young players and veterans. It depends on how that works. It could take four weeks it could take longer. Time will tell for the most part.

sarah (slc)

what have you been doing to keep in shape during the lockout?

Devin Harris
  (4:33 PM)

I'm continuing my normal preseason workouts, just extended. I'm not killing myself, I don't want to burn out too early, not knowing how long it will last.

Matt (Salt Lake City)

What adjustments to your game did you have to make after getting traded to the Jazz?

Devin Harris
  (4:34 PM)

It's a different offense. We don't play at the same type of speed that I was used to in New Jersey. I had to let guys run ahead of me to keep numbers on the break. Defensively, it was different than I was used to. That took some adjustment as well.

Matt (Sandusky, OH)

Devin, if the NBA lockout continues, will you take your talents overseas in order to play this season?

Devin Harris
  (4:34 PM)

I don't know. It's a tough question. I'm a new family man. My daughter was just born. If we're talking about February and March, then you might be silly not to look at it. I would say no, but things can change.

Brandon (Ogden, UT)

Do you actually feel that the current players representative have all of the players well being in mind? How would you feel if you lost a season with a young and talented Utah team? If you spend your whole life striving to make it to the NBA why would someone leave to play against mediocre talent overseas?

Devin Harris
  (4:36 PM)

We knew it was going to be nasty from the get go.Negotiations are never pretty. We're going to stand pat to what we think is fair. And the owners will do the same. It all depends on what will happen. People will have to give up certain things to get some other things. To be determined.

Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)

Devin, Do you have any pre-game rituals?

Devin Harris
  (4:36 PM)

I get dressed the same way every time. Same sock. Left sock, right sock. My jersey. Left shoe, right shoe.

Smack (Orlando)

Can the Badger go undefeated? Russ for Heisman?

Devin Harris
  (4:37 PM)

Sounds good to me! I don't think we've ever had a QB as highly touted as him. Watching the first couple of games, I think we could go undefeated, especially with the running game and passing attack. It just comes down to Andrew Luck slipping up a couple of times.

Rachel (Hattiesburg)

Devin, in your honest opinion will we have an NBA season this year and if so, how many games?

Devin Harris
  (4:38 PM)

We hope so. It's too early to tell right now. Things aren't looking very bright, but things can change. We'll see what happens, but I hope so.

Brett (SLC)

Devin, with the lockout continuing through what would have been the pre-season, do you and your teammates have plans to get together for workouts so that you can be ahead of the curve when the lockout does end?

Devin Harris
  (4:39 PM)

I'm pretty sure we will in the near future. I know where everyone is and what they've been doing. We'll get together for some workouts. I've been working out with Al Jefferson, Gordon. Hopefully we'll get some other guys to join the fun.

Matt (Salt Lake City)

Whats the craziest locker room ritual you've seen in the NBA?

Devin Harris
  (4:40 PM)

Armstrong used to drink four cups of cofffee with 10 sugars, along with any kind of candy he could find. Any kind of sugar. But the coffee and sugars was it.

Mauricio (Convergys, Utah)

You've played with Derrick Favors probably longer than anyone else in the NBA, what do you think his ceiling is as a player and how good can he be?

Devin Harris
  (4:41 PM)

I think he can be very talented. He's only 19 last year. He's probably the strongest 19 year old I've seen. Once he understands how to play, he'll be one of the best power forwards in the game.

Dom (Philly)

How do you get pumped up before a game

Devin Harris
  (4:41 PM)

I try to relax. I'm usually already pretty pumped up. I relax. Focus. I watch some film. Clear my mind.

Brandon (Ogden, UT)

Do you feel the players are losing the sympathy of a public that has to deal with far worse? Especially since there are so many without jobs do you feel that players demands put them out of touch with the common fan?

Devin Harris
  (4:42 PM)

It's a tough situation. We're trying to stand pat with the union. We understand our points and what we're trying to get across. It's never a pretty sight for owners and players to fight over percentage points. It's ugly all around.

BJ (Indiana)

Have you got the chance to interact with either of the Jazz draft picks?

Devin Harris
  (4:43 PM)

I haven't, no. It's been an unfortunate summer. I texted them on draft night, but that's the only contact I've had with them.

Kevin (NYC)

Just how weird is this fall/summer been?

Devin Harris
  (4:44 PM)

It's very strange. Obviously, been done in April and then getting ready for the season in June/July usually. That hasn't happened. Not knowing when this will end is pretty weird.

Bill (West Valley)

The Utah Jazz have a had some amazing point guards in their history (Stockton, Williams) How has it been to come in and try to live up to the Point Guard expectations that the Jazz fans are used to?

Devin Harris
  (4:45 PM)

I'm kind of used to it. I've played with some good point guards. Steve Nash. Jason Kidd. I just try to come in and be who I am. I've done that and fans have accepted me in the past. I don't know why that would be any different in Utah.

Diana (provo)

do you see the Jazz making the playoffs this season?

Devin Harris
  (4:46 PM)

I do. I do. The Utah fans are not used to losing, so I can see us bouncing back from last year. The young and veterans coming together for a nice year.

Craig (NY)

Devin, Thanks for chatting with us. Have you been at the meetings in NYC? if not how do you find out about whats going on in them

Devin Harris
  (4:47 PM)

I haven't been able to make any meetings, having been a new family man. But I've been following along. Reading the e-mails. Listening to the podcasts. I'm following what's going on.

Devin Harris
  (4:47 PM)

I appreciate all of the support, even through these trying times. Hopefully we'll be back playing soon.
