Mike is here!

What has your team learned from last year's success that you can carry forward into your next playoff run?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:02 PM)

I think throughout the playoffs our team learned what it took. How much energy, how much mental energy it took to get to the next level. It was our first time there. To make a statement was most on our mind. But also taking care of your body and being a professional, the little things that go into being a good team.

Jimmy Morris (Chicago, IL)

If Rudy Gay didn't get hurt, do you think your team would have beat the thunder and possibly the Mavericks?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:03 PM)

I definitely think with Rudy we are a better team. I can't say who we would have beat or how far we would have gone, but with him on the court, we're a better team. At full strength, we are a good young team. In the future, we have a good shot of going far in the playoffs.

Ryan [via mobile]

With all this down time that you have might we catch you in columbus watching your buckeyes?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:04 PM)

Yeah, I actually live in Columbus in the offseason. I've been to a few football games. If the lockout continues, maybe I'll find myself at a basketball game, since I haven't been back for a basketball game since I left. That would be cool.

Greg (DC)

How much do you still talk to your old OSU teammates like Greg?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:05 PM)

I talk to them every few weeks or so. We keep in touch just to make sure we keep our friendship in tact. I talked to Greg a few days ago. It's good to always hear from them.

Rachel (Hattiesburg)

Mike, in your honest opinion when will the lockout end? I already miss you guys.

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:06 PM)

I wish I knew that answer. I'm hoping as soon as possible, for the fans sake and our sake, so we can get back to doing what we do. So, we can get back out there for the fans, especially the great fans in Memphis.

Todd (Cincinnati)

Mike! Have to watch my hometown Grizz from afar now. You obviously played with more aggression last year, and we've heard a lot of reasons behind that. Are you comfortable with that transformation now or do you still have to work at seeing yourself in that role?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:07 PM)

I think I am comfortable with the transition. It took some time to make it, but now I am comfortable. Now it's me improving and getting better as my career goes on. But I am comfortable now.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

What have you been doing during the NBA Lockout?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:07 PM)

Since we've had more time off, I've been able to see family. Just working out and staying in shape. Staying healthy so when the season starts I won't miss a beat at all.

Austin (Cincy)

How close do you think the grizzlies are from a championship?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:08 PM)

I feel that we are very close. We have a team that has a hunger. We have the right group of guys. The right personnel. The right chemistry to do it. Hopefully in the next few years we'll be contending and bring a lot of joy to our team, coaches and our city of Memphis to bring a championship back there.

Lamar (Oakland)

Hey Mike, do you play fantasy football?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:09 PM)

I wanted to play fantasy football, but I didn't. I passed on it this year. I'm actually golfing a little bit more. Besides that, I haven't picked up anything.

Austin (Cincy)

Do you have a pre game routine?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:11 PM)

I do have a pregame routine. Every day before I go to the gym, I have to eat pasta. A couple of hours before the game, I'm always on the court. I go through some shooting drills. I go back to the training room to ice and heat my ankles, all of the way up to my knee. Then go through a stretching routine right up until the game. All while I'm doing that, I'm listening to whatever I've got on my headphones to stay focused on the game.

Dennis (Denver)

have you had any contract offers from overseas? if so, were you tempted to go?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:11 PM)

I have not had any contract offers from overseas. As of now, I haven't been tempted to go. But you never know how things can work out. Right now, I'm trying to stay in the States and wait through all of this lockout business. Hopefully get it settled and get back into a Grizzlies uniform.

mark (ohio)

Mike: Do you miss the chance(s) you would have had after your freshman year to win the NCAA Tournament? You had a great young team at Ohio State.

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:13 PM)

I do think about it. I understand we had such a young good team. We accomplished a lot as freshmen. If we had stayed, we would have been playing with more guys that were outstanding players. It would have been fun to see how good of a team we could have had and how far we could have gone.

Anthony (Tennessee)

What do you think of doing after you play in the NBA?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:14 PM)

I haven't really thought about it yet. I have to finish up my schooling at Ohio State. When I get my degree, I can figure out what I want to be and what I want to do. But right now, I'm focusing on doing what I need to make myself a better and our team better.

Anthony (Tennessee)

Who is better, Marc Gasol, or his brother, Pau?

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:14 PM)

I'm going to be biased, but I think my man Marc is better in my opinion. I know him a little bit better. They're both great players and if you asked them that question, they'd point to the other guy because they're good people. But I'll take my center.

Mike Conley Jr.
  (1:15 PM)

Thank you for getting involved with the chat. Hopefully I will be back and playing soon. Thank you.
