Chat with Bill Williamson

Bill Williamson
  (2:01 PM)

Let's get rolling folks.

Abel (Bay Area)

How do you feel about Carson Palmer throwing Hue under the bus in his interview with 95.7 The Game? Do you even feel he threw him under the bus?

Bill Williamson
  (2:02 PM)

Why do you feel he threw him under the bus? Let me know, byu telling the truth? Seriously, not trying to be funny. Let me know.

JP (On the internet (duh))

How many wins will it take for Tebow to be the QB next year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:03 PM)

Well, he's starting 11 games. He's 1-0. I'd say 4-5 more. But he has to become a better pocket passer along the way. Elway demands that.

Josh (florida)

Bill, any chance Denver brings in a new back with mcgahee out?

Bill Williamson
  (2:04 PM)

Who's out there? It time for Knowshon to show he can play.

McNutty (Seattle)

More likely to be a starting QB next year: Jason Campbell or Timmy Tebow?

Bill Williamson
  (2:05 PM)

gGod quesiton. I'd say Campbell, because someone will give him a chance. I don't think we can, for sure, say that about Tebow.

Leo (Crete)

Is Jared Veldheer on track to be a cornerstone left tackle in this league?

Bill Williamson
  (2:06 PM)

He's been pretyy good. He is perfect, but he's already a solid player.

Marcus Leach (Slidell, LA)

If the Chiefs beat the Chargers on Monday, do they become the AFC West favorites?

Bill Williamson
  (2:07 PM)

With a three-way tie between the Chiefs, Chargers and Raiders at 4-3 with nine games to go, it would be wild times in the AFC West. I'm not sure anyoen would be a favorite.

Leo (Crete)

Will Darren McFadden ever be able to shake the injury bug and reach his full potential over the course of a full season?

Bill Williamson
  (2:12 PM)

That is his last challenge. We know he can play, but can he playa fuill season. If so, he wil be unstoppable?

Jon (Des Moines)

Bill, I've been a huge fan of Dexter McCluster for a while, but I'm wondering why he wasn't able to break out since Charles went down. Is he more of a big play special teams guy than he is a guy who the Chiefs can script 10-15 play per game for? Have to think he might make something happen in prime time on Monday night. Still think he's a great talent. What are your thoughts?

Bill Williamson
  (2:14 PM)

I think he is a change-of-pace guy. I think there is room for him in every aspect of the offense, but in situations more than base.

Travis (Fort Collins, CO)

If Tebow takes Denver to the playoffs this year will he be Denver's QB of the future?

Bill Williamson
  (2:15 PM)

If they go to the playoffs with Tebow this year, there will likely be a statue made of him. Yeah, it would be his job moving forward.

Jonathan (CHICAGO, IL )

Bill you said if the Chiefs were 8-8 Haley should be a candidate for COY. Should they end up 10-6 or 9-7 would he win the honor considering KC's start?

Bill Williamson
  (2:16 PM)

I think he should be right up there, yes. He's doing a great job.

Mike (NH)

Is it wishful thinking to say Denver can finish 8-8? I think they could beat DET, NYJ (almost did last year), CHI, MIN and then I think they can win 2 out of KC (twice), OAK and SD. Of course none of this will happen if we see first 3 QTR Tebow, But very possible if we see last 5 minute Tebow. At the same time I want Richardson so 8-8 might not be so good..

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

Can they go 6-4 with Tebow, sure. May be diffuclt, but there's an outside, outside shot.

Ken (Colorado)

Am I the only one that thinks Tebow played like crap against a pretty bad Miami team?

Bill Williamson
  (2:18 PM)

No, you aren't.

Andrew (Massachusetts)

Harris cut by Bears. Good fit for Oakland?

Bill Williamson
  (2:19 PM)

He can't cover anymore, but he is OK against the run. I coudl see all four AFC West teams considering him.

Andrew (Massachusetts)

What are your predictions for Palmers next outing?

Bill Williamson
  (2:20 PM)

I don't expect perfection, but I think he will be better and more prepared, not doubt.

Abel (Bay Area)

because his honesty contradicts what Hue had been saying all week. On top of that, it made Hue look like he failed to get his team prepared because they played so poorly, he tells Carson he's not going to play all week and then in an act of desperation, he throws him in.

Bill Williamson
  (2:22 PM)

That was the feelign Sunday after the game. Their timelines contradicted each other's in their prss conferences. Often, players are more honest than coaches. Just the way it goes.

AJ (Oakland)

Bill, Please help me out. I just don't understand "Tebowmania". Seeing guys like Andy Dalton and Newton lighting it up as rookies with no training camp and then comparing it to all the training Tebow has gone through still looking so unpolished, I just don't see how Broncos fans see this guy as the future.

Bill Williamson
  (2:23 PM)

It's a good point. There are other young QBS who are much furthe ralong than Tebow as natural throwers.

Turbo (Bay Area)

You can tell that Palmer is very rusty under center ? he is constantly peering-in to the defense, lots of pre-snap toe tapping and hand swiping ? will the two weeks of prep time help him, even as they are installing a new game plan or do you expect him to be game-rusty when he plays again?

Bill Williamson
  (2:25 PM)

Let's give him a bit of a break. What he did last week was very diffuclt. He was in the system for three days. I'm not sure Palmer will be great anymore, but he will be more prpeared than he was against Kansas City.

Anthony (Chicago)

Why can't Tebow just improve in peace? Why does he get compared to pro bowl vet players after only 4930 starts? Has anyone looked at his stats, they are pretty telling. Oh and 1-0 so far

Bill Williamson
  (2:25 PM)

There is no peace in the NFL.

AJ (Oakland)

Please, tell me TO will not be joining the Raiders!!!!!!

Bill Williamson
  (2:25 PM)

I don't see it happening.

Tim (SLC)

How many games will you give CP3 before you pass judgement on the trade?

Bill Williamson
  (2:26 PM)

The rest of the season, probably.

Marcus (Slidell, LA)

Will Todd Haley give Thomas Jones a chance to rebound in KC or does he continue to move forward with Dexter McCluster and Jackie Battle?

Bill Williamson
  (2:27 PM)

I think Jones will have a role, but it will be smaller than the others.

AJ (Oakland)

Bill, if Carson plays at a level below what Campbell was playing at for the rest of the season and the Raiders fizzle out, does Campbell come back next year as the starter?

Bill Williamson
  (2:27 PM)

With all that Oakland gave up for Palmer?

Tim (SLC)

Raiders working out undisclosed players. It was reported in the Oakland papers that Pryor was throwing to players wearing Nos. 14 and 15--any ideas?

Bill Williamson
  (2:28 PM)

Guys workout every day. I wouldn't get too excited.

Lance (Las Cruces, NM)

A few weeks ago it looked like KC might be looking at the top pick in next years' draft. It was getting hard to find 4 or 5 winnable games on the schedule. But the way the defense is playing now, along with Cassel's turnaround since he and Haley went at it on the sideline, it's hard not to pick them for 8 to 10 wins... Home games against SD, Miami, Den, Oakland, and even Pittsburgh, along with road games in Chi, NY, and Den could all be wins. Even if they fall to NE, GB, and either the Jets or Steelers, they win ten. Are they going to repeat as AFC west champs even without Charles and Berry?

Bill Williamson
  (2:29 PM)

The problem is Games 10-15. They play five 2010 playoff teams, including the four teams that went to the conference title games. Ouch.

Elway (Denver)

Will I give up my entire draft (via Ditka) this year to get Luck?

Bill Williamson
  (2:30 PM)

You might be tempted to.

Frodo (Shire)

Should Norv Turner hire an offensive coordiantor, because it seems to me he doesn't have control or authority over his entire team

Bill Williamson
  (2:31 PM)

Calling the plays is Norv's best attribute.

Aaron (Denver)

Will McFadden start or play nov. 6 vs. Denver? I'd like to see them use him on the field in tandem with Taiwan Jones more often

Bill Williamson
  (2:34 PM)

It's too early to tell. I don't think McFadden is ovelry worried, but he has to heal, so we won't know until next week.

Marvin (Vallejo)

Have you noticed the poor play and bad body language of Denarius Moore lately?

Bill Williamson
  (2:35 PM)

He has slide lately, yes. But he is a rookie, so it happens.

Alexander (CA)

Who was at fault for that ridiculous last 1 min 30 sec drive with the game on the line, Rivers or Norv?

Bill Williamson
  (2:39 PM)

I think it all lands on Norv. They looked disorganized. That falls on the coach.

MAximus (Rome)

Hi Bill, are the Chargers offensive strugles all on Rivers or what? Is seems to me the offense is lacking a true explosive playmaker? IS V-Jax really an elite WR, cause he seems not be able to seperate and run crisp routes.

Bill Williamson
  (2:41 PM)

It's on everyone. They have stalled in their opponent's territory and they are making too many mistakes. This team can play well, but it's up to all 11 on offense.

Kevin (Wisconsin)

Better season. Tebow or Palmer?

Bill Williamson
  (2:44 PM)

TYhat was my poll quesiton. Palmer won -- barely -- 51-49.

Don (Temple)

What position do you think is the biggest need in Denver after this year if Tebow stays?

Bill Williamson
  (2:45 PM)

DL RB, OL, DL, CB

Chris (Lees Summit, MO)

With the Chiefs most likely out of the Andrew Luck race? Do you see them going after Landry Jones, Matt Barkley, or Robert Griffin if they would fall to them with their first pick?

Bill Williamson
  (2:46 PM)

No, I think the only way they would replace Cassel witha rookie is if it was Luck. I think they go fix another position, OT or DL.

Aaron (Denver)

when will we see Oakland incorporate Taiwan Jones into the offense more? Seems like he's a perfect change of pace esp. with McFadden, Ford, DHB, Moore on the field. Speed kills

Bill Williamson
  (2:49 PM)

He's an exciitng weapon and I think we wil see more and more of him in some situaitons.

Dexter (New Jersey)

Do you think Darrius Heyward-Bey could make it to the Pro Bowl if he keeps up the great production and hits the 1,000 yard mark?

Bill Williamson
  (2:50 PM)

Let's just see if he can stay consistent. Let's maybe look at the Pro Bowl for next year.

Abel (Bay Area)

Is Hue Jackson in over his head with trying to run the team and coach it?

Bill Williamson
  (2:52 PM)

We'll find out. Running a team and coaching it is not easy. But he is a good coach, no doubt.

Fabian (Las Vegas)

Seeing as how the Raiders don't really have picks in the upcoming draft do you see them trading players for picks?

Bill Williamson
  (2:55 PM)

Maybe on draft day if he fall for a certain player. I coudl see it or trading future picks.

AJ (Oakland)

Do you think Merriman's career is over?

Bill Williamson
  (2:56 PM)

He can't finish a season. He might be close to the end. He hasn't been productive in four years.

AJ (Oakland)

Should Von make the pro bowl this year if he maintains his current level of play?

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

Not unless he improves his overall game.

Tim (SLC)

Just exactly how rings would Sexy Rexy have if he were the Chargers coach?

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

I'll go with Norv ... the same as he has with the Jets.

Kenchun24 (Los Angeles)

Palmers REAL debut will not be until the Nov,27th Chicago home game IMO.That would be a good 6 weeks for Palmer to get in his "pre-season" if you will.Until then Hues blueprint for W's- Quit with the flea flicker and Bush Wildcat stuff and help the "in transition" Palmer led offense sustain drives with short 3rd down conversion situations.Use our awesome special teams for field position (Lechler) and scoring opps (Seabass,Ford) and of course run the ball with our 3 talented RB's.Do all this until Palmer and the offense starts getting in sync and the Raiders will remain in the thick of the AFC West crown.

Bill Williamson
  (2:58 PM)

The Raiders don't have time to wait a month. He needs to be ready to go out of the bye.

Joe (San Diego)

Has Hue Jackson gotten too cute with his playcalling? Why not just run the ball, since it's their strength.

Bill Williamson
  (2:59 PM)

It's all about a young coach finding his comfort level.

AJ (Oakland)

Would Mr. Davis have made the Palmer trade considering the hefty price?

Bill Williamson
  (3:00 PM)

That is one heck of a quesiton. I've thought about it a lot and I'm not sure. Probably lean toward yes, especially with Hue pushing it.

Demetrius (LA)

Cant the Chargers find a better punt returner than Cryton? His catching the ball at the 4 yard line really turned the game in my opinion. He's not a very explosive player you would look for in a Punt Returner.

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

They miss Sproles, don't they.

Tim (SLC)

Who will emerge as CP3's go-to receiver, DHB, Moore, Ford?

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

That would be a pretty solid three. But Murphy is good, too.

Dusty (St. Louis)

Who should the Chiefs fire first - Pioli or Haley?

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

Neither right now.

Jon (Detroit)

Any chance SD looks at Harris from the Bears who was just cut?

Bill Williamson
  (3:02 PM)

I could see them looking into it.

Bill Williamson
  (3:02 PM)

Great hour folks. Enjoy Week 8.
