Chat with Paul Kuharsky

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:00 PM)

Should we do all scandals and animals today? No? OK. Just remember it's always an option.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:01 PM)

Ground rules: AFC South-centric. See if I already answered your question by perusing what we've covered. Asking the same thing over and over hurts your chances of getting answered. Celebrity participation encouraged. I don't predict games. Onward!!!

matt (mn)

will CJ ever get back to being him? I figured they would change up the o line a little bit. no way they could bench him?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:01 PM)

Not for this game. This has to be a big game, Colts D is bad and cannot tackle.

Bob McNair (Reliant Stadium)

Paul, I haven't been to an owners meeting in a while, what, if anything are other owners saying about us now that it seems we got the "Ox out of the ditch"?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:02 PM)

They loved your work in New Orleans, against Oakland and at Baltimore and encourage more of the good fighting spirit you showed in those contests.

Brian (Fishers, IN)

Why would the Colts put Collins on IR, rather than just release him outright? Surely they don't think he'll actually come back and play again next year.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:02 PM)

You can't just release an injured guy.

Crash-tastic (Orlando, FL)

The Jaguars beat the Ravens. How come ESPN only focuses solely on how bad the Ravens played but not the stellar D my Jaguars laid out?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:04 PM)

Let's turn the question on you and all who cry about how their teams are covered: Why do you care so much? Great night, one for your to savor, and you're denting that by worrying about coverage. Baltimore is way bigger, has more interest. Check my posts off that game (200 comments) and Jamison Hensley's posts (2,000).

James (Jacksonville, fl)

Is the jaguars defense as good as it looks the last 6 quarters or is it smoke?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:06 PM)

Can be a very good defense. Not so good that the Jags win many without offensive touchdowns.

Geoff (Nashville)

Do you think the Titans could now actually give Indy a run for worst record in the AFC South?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:06 PM)

No. Breathe and concentrate on not overreacting.

Chris Johnson (Cashville)

I'm not blaming the offensive line... but it's not my fault the running game isn't workin out.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:07 PM)

I see what you did there.

Joe (H-Town)

Do you see the Texans signing another safety? Maybe Harris from Chi-Town?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:08 PM)

Amazing how the guy cut somewhere else is always the potential answer to your team's issues. Texans feel good about Troy Nolan, their concern is now with depth.

John (Duval)

John Henderson and Marcus Stroud or Tyson Alualu and Pot Roast Knighton?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:08 PM)

The new kids have not approached that old duo at its peak. Those guys were spectacular together.

Zeke (Jax, Fl)

How much does Wayne Weaver decision to leave all the assistant coaches on the Jags with expiring contracts, factor in to their bad coaching and record?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:09 PM)

Not that much. But when things fall apart at season's end it'll be a factor.

Kerry Collins (On the Couch)

Just wanna thank Irsay for the fantastic retirement present.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:09 PM)

You should throw us all a big bash!

Blake (Nashville)

Polian claims injuries are the reason for 0-7, but isnt the biggest issue for why the Colts have struggled so bad the Tampa 2? It's dated and the league has had it figured out for years.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:10 PM)

Injuries include Peyton Manning, and of course Manning being out is the biggest reason. Captain Obvious wasn't available for that?

Javi (Houston)

Do you think that the NFL should start flexing games earlier in the season? We've had some stinkers so far in primetime.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:11 PM)

Flexing to NBC means taking away from CBS and Fox, and I don't think those networks want to hand away good games. Also, Jags-Ravens was supposed to be terrible and was great. You never can be sure which games will be good.

Jordan (Jacksonville)

Your thoughts on Gene Smith to this point and whether or not his job is secure.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:12 PM)

I think if you don't allow him three years to see where Blaine Gabbert is, you made a mistake letting him pick your next quarterback.

brian (tn)

I feel like when titans lost kenny britt they lost their season as well

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:12 PM)

Did you feel like that at 3-1?

MJD (the ville)

Will the Texans take my ball away just like the Ravens did?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:12 PM)

You better find the handle.

Ash (Ontario)

Which AFC South defense do you like most?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:13 PM)

Probably Houston's.

James (Knoxville)

Who will the Texans miss more in the weeks to come? Manning or Williams?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:14 PM)

I know there is a good argument for Danieal Manning, but if Mario Williams is clubbing the quarterback, it often doesn't matter who's at safety.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:15 PM)

Breaking down the Colts as they break down

Colt's star not named Manning (Indy)

Do our HoF chances take a big hit because of how we play without Manning?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:15 PM)

Not if it's a one-year thing.

Dan (Indianapolis)

It seems like people have been mostly blaming the coaching and GM for the Colts current problems. I think they are just too injured right now. Honestly, they may be in worse shape injury wise this year than last year. Missing both D captains, top 2 nose tackles, as well as the top 3 draft picks from this year will take a toll on your team. That's not even mentioning you know who. I think people need to calm down and quit all this talk of blowing up the team. Your take?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:16 PM)

Two years of slaughtered by injuries. Where is the attempt to change anything but the luck, is what I wonder.

VY (Philly)

Can CJ tolerate the nasvhille boo birds better than me?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:16 PM)

Yes.

kevin (Louisiana)

Any idea who Hasselbeck was screaming at to "Do your job"

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:17 PM)

Could have been anyone based on that showing.

Marcedes (J-ville)

Why can't I catch the ball? in the end-zone no less?! Maybe if Blaine wasn't throwing off his back foot I'd catch it... yeah.. that's it.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:17 PM)

You're culpable for sure. What happened to how the MMA training was gong to take you to the next level?

Goat Sampson (Fort Myers, FL)

Will Andre Johnson play this Sunday?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:18 PM)

He shouldn't.

Christopher Carlton (Indiana)

Do you think there is serious interest with the Titan's and T.O.?? Huge fan, love your blog PK

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:18 PM)

I think there is minimal interest. And minimal could mean, and should mean, none.

Geoff (Nashville)

Please spell out in some detail on how I'm supposed to react after the Titans most recent performance? My tiny brain can't make it happen

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:19 PM)

Focus on other happier things in your life until next week. Expect good things against the Colts since everyone else has gotten them. Did I say anything about other happy things? Yes. Do that. It's a football game.

Sherm (Nashville)

What odds would you put on the Titans signing the OG recently cut from Jacksonville, or any other O-Lineman for that matter?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:19 PM)

Very low. And Vince Manuwai was cut right after the lockout ended, not recently.

Jay (Cookevile, TN)

Was it the Jag's defense that won the game, or the Raven's offense who lost the game?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:20 PM)

Combination. Which is usually the case.

Zeke (Jax, Fl)

Could the Jags have signed Lloyd, and got a comp pick if he signed a big contract with another team after this year?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:20 PM)

Yes, depending on what he did after he left. But that maxes out at a third.

its (outta here)

did it pain you to post those things about the titans after the texans killed them?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:21 PM)

Not a single bit. Titans stunk.

Sean (J-Ville)

Do you think Alualu and Knighton can reach that peak?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:22 PM)

Certainly they have the potential.

Fred (Birmingham)

Do you daydream about having your own sitcom?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:24 PM)

I would like to be on TV. I'd have to drop some weight quick to be camera-ready, though.

Ray (Miami)

If Manning is declared 100%, and the Colts feel he can play at a high level for maybe the remainder of the contract, do they still take Luck if they have the #1 pick? Luck's rookie contract ends right about when Manning's does and no guarantee Luck resigns with the Colts.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:24 PM)

Depends on how big the offers are for the No. 1. But me, I'd still take Luck and sort it out from there.

Brent (Charlotte)

How do you not have a favorite team in the NFL? or do you just refuse to tell us one?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:25 PM)

I really don't and it's really not hard. It's my job. I root for good stories and good people.

ROB (CT)

Which player going down hurts his team more...Kenny Britt out for the season of Mario Wiliams out for the season

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:26 PM)

Probably Britt.

Blake (Nashville)

Yes, of course we know Peyton's absence is the biggest reason for the record, but I was referring to the biggest problems with the team that has been fielded thus far. Even with Peyton on the field, this defense would be horrible and the Tampa 2 would be exposed.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:26 PM)

Yes, corner in particular is a debacle.

Joe (H-Town)

Amazing how the guy cut somewhere else is always the potential answer to your team's issues. Do you see the Texans signing another safety? This was the question you didn't answer. A starter from another team would be better than signing some one who didn't make the team at first wouldn't it? It's not an issue as of now but who's to say later!

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:26 PM)

But Harris isn't a starter for another team, he's a guy CUT by another team.

Cheyne (Durham, NC)

Does Jack get fired if he loses in Houston at the bye?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:27 PM)

Doubt it.

cameron (nashville)

Do you think the Titans will address the WR issue in the draft, and if so who is the most likely candidate for us?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:27 PM)

Yes, and I have no idea.

Phil (N.C.)

See any good movies lately?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:27 PM)

I have not. Am almost caught up on "Pan Am," though.

Respect Card (In the deck)

Can you tell the Jaguars fans to quit playing me?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:27 PM)

Listen to the deck.

Whitney Cummings (LA)

Paul, I have not heard from you in a while and I feel like we are not bonding. What time is it safe for me to call you?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:28 PM)

Absolutely any time.

Wes (Nashville)

Why won't CJ respond to any of my tweets?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:28 PM)

He's busy.

Blaine Gabbert (Everbank Field)

In this upcoming draft which would help me more, a LT or a WR?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:29 PM)

Receiver, for sure.

Dan (Indianapolis)

hypothetical silly question: Suppose the colts lose this week and hit 0-8. Then Manning makes a suprise return the next week and the team wins the next 8 in a row. Do you think he wins the MVP?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:30 PM)

No.

Titans Receivers (Nashville (we think))

Why is it so hard for us to learn our routes and audibles?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:30 PM)

Something in the Nashville water, I think.

Joe (CT)

Hey Paul. Dan Graziano recently did an all division team for his blog. What are the chances us AFC Souther's get something like that??

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:31 PM)

He does one every week, kind of a running update. I don't see it as a weekly feature for AFCS, just an end of the season deal as usual.

Mint Julip (Darkside of the MoonBat)

LSU/Ala.... give us your thoughts..... on who has more players drafted by the AFC South... and you thoughts I was going to ask for a prediction to the best regular season matchup in a generation

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:32 PM)

I root against Saban in virtually all instances.

Delone Carter (Indy)

Even behind a makeshift offensive line, my numbers are steadily improving. Chances I beat out Addai as the full-time starter? Donald Brown may have a faster 40 time but I'm a superior to him in pass blocking.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:32 PM)

I like you and want to see you keep getting more. But Brown's been encouraging at time too. I expect committee work.

Brian (Irvine)

Question- What about Miami hiring Jim Fassel-winner-QB Guru and they draft Luck. Fassel coach John Elway AT Stanford and at Denver-think what Fassel could do for Luck-Both from Stanford too.Brian

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:33 PM)

How about the next young QB developer instead of a middling retread who's not been able to get a job in the league for a while?

eli (my cube)

still think Brian Cushing oh so much better than Daryl Smith now that he's off the roids???

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:34 PM)

Brian Cushing's been quite good. Daryl Smith was great Monday night. He also got chased out of bounds by the intimidating Drew Brees.

Austin (Fort Wayne)

What are the odds of Marvin Harrison making the HoF? His career suggests he'd be in as soon as he becomes eligible, but he seems to go largely unnoticed when the topics come up. He didn't even make NFL Network's top 100 players. Did his controversy after the NFL affect his standing?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:34 PM)

He's a Hall of Famer.

Steve Bartman (Not in Chicago, honest)

Can I come out of hiding yet?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:35 PM)

I have a friend that works with you. Her initials are ABT.

jd (ny)

Paul, i saw that you think jax will in this weekend. Shame on you. If you were coach of the Texans who would you start. Jackson or Allen?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:35 PM)

Where did you see that? Because I didn't say it. Allen.

Mike (Jacksonville, FL)

If the Jags win on Sunday, should they be labeled as a contender for the AFC South?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:36 PM)

Anyone who's a game out of first place is a contender. If not, what would you have to do to be contending?

Peyton Manning (Indy)

Paul, How does this strike you? I tell Irsay to go get a defensive head coach (Rob Ryan?), I take over as OC and QB this team for a few more years. Then I let my new bff Andrew Luck come up and replace me as QB. Then I'll just slide into the HC job and continue to rule Indy with an iron fist.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:36 PM)

I'm not so sure you want to coach, certainly not without some time off after playing.

Gary K. (Houston)

Do you ever see "Texans" and read "Titans"?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:37 PM)

And vice versa.

Mint Julip (Darkside of the MoonBat)

Which fans are the biggest whiners in the Division

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:37 PM)

No comment. But I'll tell you this, they are not very self aware.

Dan (Raleigh)

What are 3 tangible things the Jaguars offense has to do to be better now?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:38 PM)

Gabbert has to step up and be more mechanically sound. MJD has to be absolutely reliable with ball security. Marcedes Lewis needs to get open.

Real Offensive coordinator (Patriots HQ)

What is the holdup integrating Cook into the Titans offense? You gotta use your weapons.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:39 PM)

No idea. And how Chris Palmer can be satisfied with him now is beyond me.

Jason (Bmore)

Doesn't seem like there's that many posts pretending to be your dog anymore. Has that ship sailed?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:39 PM)

Earlier he said he was preparing sandwiches. He's barking outside my window right now. Loss in Governor race was tough on him.

Chip (Syracuse)

Has anyone in the media suggested that Leroy Harris & Eugene Amano switch positions? In the past they both played much better in those other positions. I don't understand why the Titans don't give it a try. At this point, I don't see how it could hurt anything...

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:40 PM)

Harris can't snap consistently. And how does flip flopping two bad players magically fix them being bad?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:41 PM)

I accidentally answered a Texans question earlier as if it was a Titans question. i went back and fixed it. Apologies. Moving on...

Sean (Jax)

Do you think Will Rackley can be a solid guard in the NFL?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:41 PM)

Too early to say he can't, in time.

Bennyscrap (Texas)

Do you plan on updating us as to how the Dreaded Coin Flip is going this season?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:42 PM)

Perhaps. Are you in it? You can look at the standings, if so. PK doing pretty well last I checked, coin average.

Finley (under foot)

How are you dressing me for halloween this year?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:43 PM)

Like a beagle, but with taller legs and a longer nose.

Benvolio (Montegue's Italia)

"I root for good stories and good people." Who are these good people, and what are these good stories that you tend to root for these days?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:44 PM)

Good stories: Dramatic endings, record-setting performances, etc. Good people: I think you can tell who opinion writers have good opinions about and why.

Maurice Jones-Drew (904)

Shouldn't I be a bigger part of our anemic passing game? Fixing your teams biggest weakness by getting the ball in the hands of your biggest playmaker is football 101 right?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:45 PM)

Yeah, and you would think it would be an easy throw for Gabbert to make most of the time.

Sean (Jax)

Whats your take on Eugene Monroe?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:45 PM)

Time for him to be a reliable, healthy, steady guy and he's not there yet. Cannot understand what he was thinking getting so small during lockout and putting himself in position where he had to gain back a bunch of weight.

Adam (Cookeville)

Are these end-of-blowout opportunities for Jake Locker useful, dangerous, inconsequential?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:46 PM)

C

Geoff (Orlando)

Best reciever on the jags roster?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:46 PM)

Mike Thomas by a good margin.

Jane (Lexington)

chinese food or indian food?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:46 PM)

Chinese.

Geoff (Orlando)

I respect your opinion pk but according to the rankings the jags have the best defense in the south, whats your take on stats rankings?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:47 PM)

I like wins more than stats. If we're going to rate everything strictly on stats, why bother having the conversation?

Chuck (Smyrna)

So I fear that the Titans will easily handle the Colts Sunday, CJ has a big game, and everyone, including the fans, will think everything is all better. Hopefully Munchak and the crew are smarter than that, right?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:47 PM)

Yes, they are. One would hope.

Joe (H-Town)

It's gotta hurt.... that the Titans stink, the Jags can't get it going on O and the Colts seem to be falling apart. You still can't report anything positive about the good old boys from H-Town. Go TEXANS

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:48 PM)

Yeah, the column I wrote about them coming of the blowout win just crushed them. DO YOU HEAR YOURSELF?

Dave (Horsham, UK)

What's up with the Titan's D? Have teams worked out how to play against it, or did the offence, before Kenny Britt's injury, put the D in a position to make plays?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:49 PM)

It's not that good. It may have played well at times, but who have they beaten? You really impressed with Baltimore, Denver or Cleveland on offense? I'm not. The Titans' personnel isn't that good.

Tony LaRussa (St. Louis)

How dare you question my skills as a manager! I have decided to use the Bullhorn instead of the dugout phone tonight!!

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:50 PM)

I think you are my least favorite person in sports. I pray the Rangers win tonight.

Adam (Cookeville)

With the Colts at 0-8, why would they even entertain bringing Manning back if he were fit? The season is a loss. They couldn't win out if he did return. Rest him for next year and work on improving what you can and continue to develop Painter.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:51 PM)

Good players are allowed to return from injury to play for bad teams. I can understand why he wants to play if he can. I tend to lean in your direction, however.

Geoff (Orlando)

How many wins for del rio to save his job?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:51 PM)

Playoffs.

Justin (TX)

Which stadium in the AFC South is the loudest? I think RCA Dome was, but since it's closed I'll defer to you...

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:52 PM)

None are that loud, and it's hard for me to judge from press boxes -- three of which don't have windows that open.

Chuck (Smyrna)

Just once I'd like to see a Titans coach in a press conference act..well mad at the team I guess. I don't mean Jim Schwarz nuts, but just a little more emotion than the "California Cool" we saw from Fisher and are seeing from Munchak. Am I wrong on that?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:53 PM)

Press conference emotion has close to zero effect on a team's play.

B-ri (In the Malibu)

Man, you never reply to any of my questions.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:53 PM)

There you go.

Andy (Jacksonville)

Oh, uh, before he got chased out of bounds by the intimidating Drew Brees, he intercepted the intimidating Drew Brees...

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:54 PM)

Obviously.

Kyle (DC)

Lets do a mini-All AFC South team. Pick a QB, RB, WR, TE, Defense, and Kicker/Punter. Go

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:55 PM)

Hasselbeck, Foster, Wayne/Garcon, Daniels, Texans, Scobee.

its (outta here)

if texans win the division with a 9-7 record and lose in the first round is kubs fired?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:56 PM)

Doubt it.

Joe (H-Town)

Don't get mad PK! Your team will get it together in the next 5-6 years! I'm just say the media never says anything good about H-Town. But they do mention it when we lose.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:57 PM)

Need a tissue?

Jim B. (HTX)

Do you dislike Tony LaRussa because of that 70's mop haircut or because of his joyless, soul-draining personality?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:57 PM)

B

Brent (Charlotte)

What's the over/under on the number of head coaching changes in the AFC South?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:58 PM)

Either 1.5 or 2.5. Tough number to set. Good question.

Tim Graham (Your attic)

I thought I was your least favorite person in sports.

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:59 PM)

You are in sports?

Brent (Charlotte)

PK are you saying that you would rather deal with VY over Tony LaRussa?

Paul Kuharsky
 (3:59 PM)

Good point.

Will (Houston)

Paul,What are your biggest concerns about the texans, offense and Defense?

Paul Kuharsky
 (4:00 PM)

Offense has to be hits on Matt Schaub, and Schaub at crucial moments. Defense has to be pass D without Danieal Manning.

Jordan (Boise)

Pouz, Clint, Smith. Got to be the best LB's in the AFC south and one of the best groups in the league. After they win this weekend when they show you again what are you going to say then.... ohhh the texans offense was horrible... blah blah blah....

Paul Kuharsky
 (4:01 PM)

Chief, I ranked those LBs as the division's best before the season. Are you upset we me that the Jags lost five in a row? Cause I didn't take a snap.

Love Muscle (TN)

what do you think of Nashville as a city? would you recommend it to friends and family as a city to live in or do you wish you covered teams in NJ

Paul Kuharsky
 (4:02 PM)

I love it here. Don't have friends and family looking to relocate. I don't want other people moving here to create traffic.

Bruce Matthews (Baptist Sports Park)

Am I good enough line coach for any team other than titans?

Paul Kuharsky
 (4:03 PM)

Absolutely.

Everyone Who Wants You To Predict Games (Slacking)

You do predict games(as long as there is a spread), you just wont admit to it - See Fear the Coin.

Paul Kuharsky
 (4:03 PM)

Wow, someone figured that out.

Ben (Houston)

FYI Reliant is one of the loudest stadiums in the league with the roof closed - but it's only closed in the later part of the season and by that time, historically, there's little to scream about. Hopefully that changes this year!

Paul Kuharsky
 (4:04 PM)

Incorrect. It's closed virtually every week.

Cheyne (Durham, NC)

Is it just me or is the Battle Red thing silly?

Paul Kuharsky
 (4:04 PM)

If it's just you, it's just me and you.

Brent (Charlotte)

Alright Folks! Nothing to see here... This chat is concluded. Have a good week... Move it along folks

Paul Kuharsky
 (4:05 PM)

Thanks guys. I appreciate you.
