Hellooo...chatters. Oops - well, here we are. I see you have brought many questions to the table, so we'll start tackling them.
Does it look like stafford is going to play?
Adam: It does. He did more in practice Thursday than Wednesday and apparently looked good running around. Expect him to start.
A popular question today I am sure. Is Andre Johnson ready to go this Sunday?
Mike: And I have an unpopular answer. Gametime decision. The good news is that he has done more each day, yesterday working on one-on-one drills and looking good to those watching. The not so good news is that he is still feeling some "tugging" as he calls it in his hamstring. If that is still present Sunday, don't expect he'll chance it and they'll wait another week. If it improves daily - and it could -then he'll go. A very true gtd.
How healthy is Gates?
Richard: It's all relative. He's feeling better than he has in weeks, but the injury is not behind him. He was able to practice daily and there's every expectation that he'll play Monday (barring the unforeseen, but we're even more confident this week than last) but then we never know how he's going to be in game and I still don't believe he sees a full complement of snaps. Will be involved in red zone plays though.
what is the update on Peyton Hillis?
John: He didn't practice Thursday after feeling soreness from the light practice he did Weds....not a good sign. I'm assuming they'll leave open the possibility he plays but given this news, I'm inclined to think they wait another week.
Hines Ward doesn't look like he's going to play. Antonio Brown has done better but Emmanuel Sanders is getting the start? Which receiver is the one to have?
Terry: First, I think there's still a good chance Ward plays. He does not sit out often and said he would do a lot to get himself ready to go. BUT...if he sits, there are reports Sanders would get the start. Brown still seems like the better fantasy play. Sanders may fill in with some of the run blocking they'd miss if Ward was out.
I hear Wells is practicing. Is he going to be go on Sunday?
Rick: I doubt it. He's only doing limited work. The past trend in AZ is to rest him when there is doubt about his health. Can't imagine the knee swelling is fully resolved and we need to see how he responds to the work he did yesterday. I don't expect him.
Going between M. Morris and P. Thomas for my PPR flex spot. If Ingram sits (insert expert advice here), gotta go Thomas, but if he plays, Morris a better play?
Matt: Tough call. I think Williams will get plenty of work, so I still like Thomas. I think even if Ingram is active (which sounds like a long shot) he may not see as much action as usual. Expect THomas to take the lead.
Will there be a Lynch sighting this Sunday? On the field this time.
Mikey: Well, technically he was on the field...but over on the sidelines. Much to the dismay of fantasy owners everywhere. It looked doubtful early in the week but now Carroll says he expects him to play. So...that's the expectation - but I'd be nervous. Not that the same thing will necessarily happen, but wondering if he'll hold up through a whole game.
How is Daniel Thomas looking this week? Any concern that he doesn't play or does it just look like he's going easy on the hamstring?
Jeremy: I think they're proactively resting him, he's probably not 100% and they don't want a setback. But he's played in two games now since the injury and emerged without any specific complaints (at least not that we've heard) so expect him to play again.
Any chance McGahee is unseated by Moreno with this hand injury? What is the timeline on his recovery?
Geckonate: I guess there's always a chance for everything - but I'm not buying it. Moreno has a LOT to prove to take the job away from McGahee, who I expect will miss somewhere from 3-4 weeks. Hard for me to believe McGahee loses the gig but he may be eased back in when he first returns to play.
what does sam bradford's status look like for this week?
Not good - expect he sits.
I heard that Benjarvus Green-Ellis may have turf toe. Do you know if this is true, and should I be worried about starting him this week?
Mike: He's been listed on the injury report with a toe but whether it's turf toe or not, no one has said. He did play through it before the bye - and he's been practicing this week - so I expect him to play.
With Chris Ivory just returning from injury, do you think he's a decent option this week against the awful Rams D? Would you consider playing him rather than gambling on a Was RB?
John: No, I'd actually gamble on the Washington RB. The Saints have said Ivory has not necessarily gotten into football shape yet, understandable given the time away from the game, so if they use him, it will likely be very minimally.
Is Addai healthy? I have him and Carter. Who do I have to go with this week?
Mike: I'd go with Carter. The outlook on Addai is uncertain at best. Supposedly the team is waiting for medical clearance on him but he hasn't practiced at all. Last week he only practiced Friday, played SUnday night and exited quickly because of the hamstring. Even if he plays, Carter more trustworthy.
Does it look like Braylon Edwards will be making it back this week? If so will he be relevant this season at all?
Graham: Questionable. The team seemed more upbeat on that front than Edwards did. He's been practicing but he said if he feels anything in the knee, he's not going. Not sure I'd have high hopes for him in his first game back, although given his role, imagine he could potentially be good for a score. Hope to have a clearer picture after today's practice (check blog tomorrow).
Any Tolbert updates?
Will: Tolbert called all the concern precautionary but he did not practice (the Chargers only report one practice day officially so far since they have a Monday night game). I suspect he got the extra day since it is a Monday night game. If he practices today, then I think he's a go. If he doesn't, then be sure to have a backup. I have him on my team and I plan on starting him if he's at all involved in practice today.
Any concern with AP? Is it just a simple ankle twist or something more?
Keith: He said it was the former. The fact he was back yesterday suggests that's indeed the case. Imagine he's fine for Sunday.
Is Percy Harvin droppable with all his injuries?
Bob: Unless you're a lucky person with tons of open space on the bench, I'd consider dropping him. The rib injury is clearly still an issue and has limited him in the last few games, last week forcing him to leave early. He hasn't done a ton when on the field either so not sure he's worth it.
Felix Jones - anything new? Can we expect him back next weekend?
Jon V: Nothing new. I'm not confident he'll be ready to go in Week 9 even though he says that's what he's targeting. And even if he does come back it may be more Murray than Jones.
Can you ask Julio Jones to tweet a photo of his injured hammy? If not, thoughts on his injury and likelihood he returns to 100% after the bye?
JT: Trust me, the picture wouldn't tell the whole story. The fact Jones practiced before the bye week is a great sign and although he made it sound like he wasn't sure he'd be ready, the extra time can only help. Obviously we get a better idea once they're practicing formally.
Looking for Ahmad Bradshaw to score. Is Brandon Jacobs healthy enough to be the touchdown eliminator for Ahmad? What Jacobs usage do you anticipate?
Rich: Still think Bradshaw gets the majority of the touches and is more likely to score. Jacobs does look like he'll play but may only touch the ball 8-10 times. Can still vulture a TD, but it's not like it's automatic.
Know you're a 49er fan. Is Crabtree past his foot problems?
Mike: I am. And he's not. By that I mean he still has awareness of the foot issues and as he said earlier in the season, it is something that is likely to bother him throughout the year to different degrees. That said, he's been able to play through the issues so far and appears to be less bothered now than he was early on. So can't dismiss them as gone, but he's certainly shown improvement.
If Tolbert is out or limited do you start Hardesty or D. Carter in a PPR?
Erich: Hmmm. Probably Hardesty. Think he'll catch a few passes out of the backfield this week - been getting more work in practice with Hillis down.
Heath Miller or V. Schiancoe for a bye week fillin?
Dave: Normally might say Shiancoe as Miller has not been a receiving target as much this year. But Shiancle has been dealing with a foot injury and hasn't practiced yet. See if he practices today, if so, then I think he plays.
In the case of a bruised heel (M. Ingram), wouldn't the player be able to just play through the pain?
Matt: It's actually on the undersurface of the heel and may even be a bruise on the bone. It's pretty hard to run on that since every step you are hit with tremendous pain and it may even be tough to get into the shoe if there is a lot of inflammation. Just can't be effective and potentially run the risk of making it drag on. So if he still can't run on it by today, will be tough to think it's better by Sunday.
Hi Stephania- A little IDP love please! Is Justin Tuck on track to play Sunday? Thanks!
Chip: It sounds like Tuck is shaping up to play. He had said he expected to be back after the bye week, was improving before the bye week came along and thought the extra rest would really help. So as of now, he looks as if he will go.
Leery about D.Thomas's hammy and the R.Bush threat factor. Would you go with Thomas this week at flex in a 1 PPR or Hardesty, M.Morris, G.Little, or E.Decker? Thanks Steffy bad news!
George: I think I still go with Thomas. Expect the 49ers run D to give Hardesty a challenge. Not sure Little gets enough chances (expect pass rush problems for McCoy). Morris will likely share with Williams and Decker is suffering somewhat with the change in QB. I'm not sure Bush will be a huge threat to Thomas.
Steph, anything new on McFadden? I know things are quiet in a bye week but...
JB: No. They gave him the week to rest his foot entirely and then planned to re-evaluate next Monday. So we won't get any updates until at least then.
FYI - seeing that Browns RB Peyton Hillis did not practice today either. Really not looking good for him to play so plan on Hardesty...
Thanks everyone for coming to the chat...there will be more updates in the Saturday blog with all the latest updates on team's official injury designations. Then see you Sunday on Fantasy Football Now, 11:30 ET, ESPN2. Good luck in Week 8!!
