Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:04 PM)

Been a long month on the baseball, but it was fun. No music today, watching America's Game on NFL Network. Let's roll

Adcadd (Australia)

How good a head coach is Jason Garrett? Top twenty? It just seems that with all the resources (Namely money) the Cowboys fail to attract the type of coach fitting for an organisation as prestigious as the Dallas Cowboys. I mean Man U has Fergusson, the Lakers/Bulls had Phil etc. It can't all be on Jerry can it (please no)?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:08 PM)

I think we're still trying to figure out just where Garrett ranks in the NFL hierarchy. He's just now coaching his 16th game. That's one season. No one wants to be judged on their first year of any job. Yes, it can all be on Jerry. He has to make better decisions. Period. I like Garrett because coaching in the NFL is a process. He understands the process, and eventually he'll make them a good team.

What do you think is going to happen to CJ Wilson?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:10 PM)

He's going to sign somewhere other than Texas - and that's fine. He's a really good pitcher, but he's not worth what he's going to get on the open market. ow, if he wants to sign a deal for about $13-14 million a year, he'll be back. If not, he won't.

Brandon (Lewisville)

When acquiring a Japanese pitcher, does the "negotiating fee" apply to the total contract if a deal is struck? What are your thoughts on Darvish as a potential Ranger?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:11 PM)

Nope. You have to spend $40 million or so just for the RIGHT to negotiate. Then the player has all of the leverage because you don't get your money back, if he doesn't sign. It's a tricky proposition with no guarantees.

Brandon (Lewisville)

Why were the Cowboys (who had no intention of using him) unable to get anything in return for Tashard Choice?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:13 PM)

I don't know for sure that some team offered them something tangible for Tashard. Plus, the past few weeks Felix has been hurt and the Cowboys didn't have the comfort level that they do now with DeMarco Murray and Phillip Tanner. Once they had a comfort level, he became expendable.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

How do you think that the Dallas Stars Will be This season?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:15 PM)

They're off to a great start, in part, because Kari Lehtonen has been superb and they're getting quality performances from their best players. Sheldon Souray has been outstanding, and he's given them a heavy shot from the point. But it's a long season, my friend.

nate K. (SD)

how dones dallas cowboys new punter look at prataice?& how long it's mat out

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:17 PM)

Mat McBriar has drop foot. It's a nerve issue and it's serious whether you're a punter or a regular citizen because it can be a symptom of some much more serious issues. We don't get so the the team practice aside from 20 minutes at the beginning, so I can't tell you how he's looked. I do know he won't be as good as McBriar.

Gary (Los Feliz)

Is it becoming clear that Jason Garrett is in over his head? He can't protect a big lead against the Lions. Failed to go for the throat against the Patriots and now Andy Reid completely out coached him! How much longer must we endure this?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:18 PM)

You can't fire your coach every year. Jerry has already had 4 in the past 10 years, which is ridiculous. This is the first time the Cowboys have been blown out in a year. Let's keep it in perspective.

Jason M (San Jose Ca)

At what point are the Cowboys going to understand Martellis Bennett is a failed experiment? He has failed to deliver every season since he was drafter. I would like someone in the media to press him on this. That guy has plays called for him that he singlehandedly destroys.

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:20 PM)

I don't know that it's worth pressing him on it. The reality is he's been a backup for four seasons and never ever pressed Jason Witten for playing time or played so well that Jason garrett felt compelled to create a roll for him. Your expectations may be too high for his previous production.

sonny (Charleston,SC)

After watching sunday nights game... i believe it time to start play Victor butler and Bruce at Lb at least on passing downs. The eagles really expose our weakness in the middle of the fieild due to lack of speed...

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:21 PM)

They wouldn't have done any better on Sunday. The safeties were playing 30 yards off the line of scrimmage and the linebackers were so close to the line of scrimmage, so there was a huge gap in the middle of the field

Bryan (Springdale, AR)

Oh man, here comes the Samuel Jackson of Cowboys football today: "I've said it all **** year and I'll ****'in say it again, this is a rebuilding year. How do you like Colin Cowherd saying the Cowboys are the 9th best team in the league?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:22 PM)

All I know is they looked like an 8-8 team before the season - and I haven't seen anything to change my mind. Intelligent folks can disagree.

Shedrick G (Fort Worth TX)

Brendon Haywood will not be back with the Mavs they will definitely use the amnesty clause option on him.I say dont use it on him and trade him and Tyson Chandler to Orlando for Dwight Howard and Gilbert Arenas then use the amnesty on Arenas what do u think???

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:24 PM)

They WON'T use the amnesty clause until they whether Tyson Chandler is coming back. If you make a move too early, then you might not even have a center on the roster. Why would Orlando do that deal?

Junior (dallas)

i dont think the rangers need to do much as far as making any big changes to the roster....any rumors going around saying otherwise?Either way i think it'll be a 3peat but we need to close the deal the next time around....

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:25 PM)

So you like Mitch Moreland at first base? Yu think the rotation and the bullpen are fine? I don't think so. You have to make moves every year. Rangers must figure out their bullpen and rotation if, as expected, C.J. Wilson doesn't come back

Mike (MD)

Romo is getting a free pass this week. He was very inaccurate Sunday and has no zip on his passes. Is he more hurt than we hear from the team?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:26 PM)

They trailed 21-0 after 9 plays. That means the game is over 99% of the time. It means the Eagles could play the pass, ignore the run, and harass Romo. It's not a pass, it's reality. Every loss doesn't have his fingerprints on it

Concerned fan (3-4) [via mobile]

What's ur insight on Dez his name keeps coming up a problem or media blowing it out of proportion? What's ur opinion of him n is he hurting this offense.

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:27 PM)

The Cowboys knew he had a ton of issues when they drafted him. Their eyes were wide open. it's the reason he lasted until the 24th pick. No surprises, thus far.

shanard (utah)

JJT, when mcbriar couldn't punt, how come they didn't let buehler kick the ball since he has the stronger leg, and why bailey which it didn't go very far...

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:29 PM)

Bailey was fine as emergency punter. We don't even know if Buehler has punted before. Punting as as much about technique as leg strength. Bailey was terrific.

Don (Arlington)

How far do the Stars get this year?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:29 PM)

The playoffs would be great even if they get eliminated in the first round

Nathan (Marshall)

After the New England loss I heard many comentators saying that was a loss the team could build on. Other than what not to do, what can the Cowboys gain from the Philly game? Can we "build" on it? Dont sugar coat it, just tell me how bad it is doc!

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:31 PM)

I don't know. Many of you will be shocked to learn I try not to overreact. I try to look at 3-4 game stretches and see if the team is improving or regressing. The problem with rebuilding , mediocre teams is that they struggle to find consistency. In fact, they're consistently inconsistent

Shawn (Ashe NC)

JJT, Do you think that CJ Wilson will end up being a YANKEE?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:32 PM)

Nope. I don't think he wants the spotlight that bright. More West Coast than East Coast

shanard (utah)

JJT, could dallas win their next 5 games and sit on 8-4, which would be huge for them considering the others in the division games coming up...

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:36 PM)

when is the last time the Cowboys won 5 in a row? I'll tell you. It was 2007. The Cowboys haven't won more than three in a row since 2009. Sorry, I don't think 5 in a row is in the cards

Jose (Monterrey, Mexico)

I can't understand why our off. line is that bad. They practice every week vs. Rat, Ware, etc... Against the Eagles they were horrible.

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:37 PM)

What did you expect with essentially three rookies in the OL to start the season? The only pieces they've added are Derrick Dockery and Montrae Holland, each of whom were cut in training camp. It hasn't helped that Doug Free has been average at best this season

Dustin (NC)

What is the percent chance that Sean Lee will play on Sunday? He is the key to this defense.

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:38 PM)

Too early tell. We probably won't know until Friday

Bryan (Springdale, AR)

Assuming this is a rebuilding year, does that mean you predict greater than an 8-8 record next year? Not asking for a hard prediction, just which way you are leaning

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:39 PM)

Bro, how could you possibly predict when you have no idea who will be on the team? They will continue to improve under Garrett

The Dude (Dallas)

before it was 21-0, romo was on the field, he and the offense sputtered. Had they executed, the defense would have been off the field and could have kept the Cowboys in the game.

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:40 PM)

I'm not sure which game you were watching. They moved the ball on their third drive and then Bennett's drop turned into a pick. Another TD and the game was essentially over.

Mike Chambers (Madisonville, KY)

Hey JJT, if the Dallas run game is as promising as it looks, I would like us to try a somewhat run first approach and setup the pass/play action. Kind of like the 90's superbowl runs. I don't mean to copy , just that this seems like the way to go with this group? Your thoughts?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:41 PM)

You gotta throw the ball to score points in today's NFL. You need to be able to run it when you CHOOSE to run it. They haven't done that.

John (ATL)

How are the Giants so consicent as you said & they barley beat the Dolphins

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:41 PM)

They won, right?

Dustin (NC)

They coaches need to release Romo again and stop holding him back. Last couple games he just doesnt look like himself.

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:43 PM)

I don't think they held him back the last two weeks. The overwhelmed the Rams and the Eagles blew out Dallas before it had a chance to get into flow of the game

jeremy (virginia)

will felix ever reach his potential? has the emergence of demarco murray either supplanted Felix or at least created a 50-50 timeshare?

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:45 PM)

It depends on what you think his potential is. He's probably best suited to carry the ball 8-10 times a game and catch it 3-4 times a game

Jean-Jacques Taylor
  (1:46 PM)

I gotta keep it to 45 minutes today. We'll run a little longer next week. Keep it real. Always. Peace.JJT
