Chat with Bill Williamson

Bill Williamson
  (2:01 PM)

Hi, let's get rolling.

Clay Defayette (NY)

Is Kansas City's future brighter at QB with Matt Cassel than Oakland's with Carson Palmer?

Bill Williamson
  (2:02 PM)

Too early to tell, but I could see it going either way. Cassel is younger, so he may have a slight edge.

Sage Alvarez (La Quinta, CA)

Do you think Aaron Curry was a steal for the Raiders?

Peter (NYC)

The Chiefs have allowed one touchdown in two and half games. With guys like Johnson, Hali, Flowers do you agree that the Chiefs have the best AFC west defense?

Bill Williamson
  (2:07 PM)

I think the Chiefs' defense is well coached and players are executing well right now. Is it the best defense in the AFC West? Well, it's performing the best right now.Curry answer: They didn't give mcuh for him, so if he can develop, yes, a major steal. They are going to give him a chance to shine, that's for sure.

Sage Alvarez (La Quinta, CA)

Do you think mike mitchell has lived up to being a second round pick?

Bill Williamson
  (2:08 PM)

No, not yet.

Peter (NYC)

Personally I see the Chiefs winning the AFC West this year. They have a young team with a lot of key pieces locked up for long term deals. Also next year they will get Charles, Berry and Tony back. I could see this team becoming the new SD in the AFC west and win the division for the foreseeable future. Do you see that as a possibility?

Bill Williamson
  (2:09 PM)

Considering the Chiefs are playing without Charles, Berry and Moeaki, this team is doing tremendously. This tema has a bright, bright future.

Jamie (BFE, Kansas)

Baldwin gonna light up the Phins?

Bill Williamson
  (2:10 PM)

He just might. That was an impressive outing against the Chargers.

Sage Alvarez (La Quinta, CA)

What kind of impact do you think T.J can bring to the Raiders?

Bill Williamson
  (2:11 PM)

The biggest thing will be a comfort level with Palmer. He's 34 and declining, don't expect too much from him.

Steven "Crisco" Gates (Carpinteria, CA)

I believe that Philip rivers could have a career this sunday against the packers,. I see a shootout but if Mike Tolbert is healthy enough the Chargers should run the ball much more to keep Rodgers off the field What do you think?

Bill Williamson
  (2:18 PM)

What the Chargers will need to do is play close to perfeclty. That means no dumb penalties, turnovers and they have to find the end zone instead of stalling and settling for field goals. They haven't proved they can do that yet this season.

Michael (San Diego)

Do you think Philip Rivers is hiding an injury? He has never played this bad in the years he's been in San Diego.

Bill Williamson
  (2:20 PM)

There has been talk that he may have been hiding a sternum or a ribs injury. But he insists he's healthy and San Diego coach Norv Turner said he is pressing. He might be coming out of his funk, though. Before the fumbled snap, he was terrific for three quarters of the game. But he has to find a way to overcome the memory of the snap.

Adam (Dallas)

Bill - if the Tebow experiment in Denver doesn't work out (and early indications are that it won't), what do you suppose Denver will do with Tebow? Is there any chance he would be converted to a different position, like fullback? Would Tebow even agree to that?

Bill Williamson
  (2:23 PM)

He was asked about the possibility of moving spots yesterday. He sounded far from interested.

McNutty (Seattle)

What's the Denver locker room's take on the Tebow issue? Any sense of fracture?

Bill Williamson
  (2:26 PM)

Not yet. But they want a chance to win, so if these type of performances continue and Tebow stays the quarterback, I could see the veterans get upset about the situation if it gets to that point.

mike (toledo oh)

How involved do you think Taiwan Jones will be involved in the Raiders offense?

Bill Williamson
  (2:28 PM)

He is a change-of-pace guy who will be getting more opportunities as the season goes on and as he gets better. He is a matchup nightmare because of his wicked speed.

Michael (Cincinnati)

Is there a proven formula for success as far as roster makeup between a team's draft choices, UFA, and free agent signings?

Bill Williamson
  (2:29 PM)

It's long been proven the best way to build a consistent winner is through the draft, no doubt about it.

Sage Alvarez (La Quinta, CA)

Why is Denarius Moore Struggling after a great Start?

Bill Williamson
  (2:29 PM)

He is a kid. It is going to take time. He'll be fine.

AJ (Oakland)

Hi Bill, I want to be a football journalist like yourself. What kind of educational training would you recommend?

Bill Williamson
  (2:32 PM)

Stay in school, son.

Justin (KC)

Here is a fun question. You are asked to form the best AFC WEST team using the 4 teams in the Division. You have to choose the best offense, Defense, and ST from each of the 4 teams to form the team. So whose team is the Offense, whose is the Defense, and whose is the ST?

Bill Williamson
  (2:33 PM)

O: SDD: KCSP: OAK

Anthony (Taipei, Taiwan)

If Baldwin lives up to his 1st round potential and Bowe gets resigned...... Charles & Moeaki returning next year..... How in the world would opposing defenses pick their poison? Look out, AFC West, it's going to be a bumpy road when all the pieces are back in KC. BTW, the AFC West is still up for grabs this year.

Bill Williamson
  (2:35 PM)

And it will make Cassel better. Chiefs are in good shape moving forward.

Andy (Vestal NY)

Is it me or are the NINERS and BILLS and LIONS are extremely overrated right now? And the Chargers, Eagles, and Cowboys are underrated?

Bill Williamson
  (2:38 PM)

Well, if you go by records, these teams are not overrated and these teams are not underrated. I think, and I have been guilty of this at times, folks often don't believe their eyes because of expectations, whether they are higher or lower than what is being shown. I think the best approach we should take is to use the Bill Parcells apporach: pou are what your record says you are.

McNutty (Seattle)

There has been a contingency of Bronco fans that think Fox is sabotaging Tebow. Please talk some sense into these fools.

Bill Williamson
  (2:40 PM)

Ultimately, failure comes on the head of the coach. Fox wants to win.Still, I think Fox is not sold that Tebow is the answer, but he's just giving him a look know so he can come to a quicker conclusion, which is the right thing to do.

Simon (Middle of Nowhere, AK)

What do you feel are the chances we get a good, long look at B Quinn, before all is said and done?

Bill Williamson
  (2:45 PM)

If Tebow struggles badly in the next couple of weeks, we might see it. The thing is, the Broncos play on a short week, Thursday, Nov. 17 against the Jets, so I don't think he'd be put in that week. So I think the best bet for us to see Quinn -- if Tebow continues to struggle -- is Nov. 27 at San Diego, unless he is so bad in Oakland this week, the Broncos make the move going into Week 10 at Kansas City.

Kris (Cleveland,OH)

How serious is Darren McFadden's toe injury? Is this injury serious enough to miss more games as the season progresses?

Bill Williamson
  (2:46 PM)

The feeling is now that the Raiders will try to get him ready to play the Chargers next Thursday.

Cody (Indiana)

Any chance Denver trades up if Indy gets #1pick and takes luck?

Bill Williamson
  (2:51 PM)

Sure, I think John Elway will be very interested in trying to get up there. But it would take a lot, and I mean, a lot, to move up for that pick.

AJ (Oakland)

Did you find Hue Jackson's comments on Tebow's level of play inappropriate?

Bill Williamson
  (2:53 PM)

Nah, he wasn't being rude. He was just answering a question honestly. We want honest answers, so when we get them, we shopuld appreciate them.

Dr. H. Doofenshmirtz (Tri-State Area)

Now that they've signed T.J., do the Raiders keep all those WR's?

Bill Williamson
  (2:56 PM)

Well, they cut Hagan, so I think they are set with their current six WRs.

Dallin (Provo, UT)

is Thomas Jones struggles due to having Jamaal Charles injured or is he just too old

Bill Williamson
  (2:58 PM)

I think age is creeping up on Jones. I think this year may be the end of the road for him.

Tim (SLC)

I read where Routt approved of bringing TJ. Any reaction from the Raiders' wide recievers?

Bill Williamson
  (2:59 PM)

I'm sure Derek Hagan wasnt too thrilled about it.

Dr. H. Doofenshmirtz (Tri-State Area)

Has Tyson Jackson improved enough to be in KC's long term plans?

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

He's making some strides. He hasn't been spectacular, but he's a decent part of the offense.

Noriega (CA)

Did McFadden forget to drink milk as a kid?

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

It's a tough position.

Bill Williamson
  (3:02 PM)

Great hour, folks. Talk to you next week. BW.
