What's up, everybody. Let's get started.
With Ryan Broyles done, is Justin Blackmon the favorite again to win the Biletnikoff? Thanks!
Maybe, but his numbers have been down. Right now, it might be Robert Woods out at USC, but a late charge might put Blackmon back in there.
Will I still be coaching at A&M next year?
Do you think Iowa State has a legitimate chance of pulling off one more upset and becoming bowl eligible?
Legitimate chance? Yes. Realistic chance? Yes. Will it happen? I don't think so. ISU's not beating OU or OSU. I'd give them about a 30 percent chance to do it against K-State.
Has any other QB shed more blood in one season than Klein?
Ha, I'm sure somewhere out ther,e yes. In the Big 12 this year? No.
The record of each team that has left (or will be leaving) the BigXII has been less than expected. Any checked Dan Beebe's home for voodoo mascot dolls?
I don't know if I've heard of anyone doing it, but yeah, Nebraska's struggled in spots this year, Colorado is much, much worse despite having a decent amount of talent. A&M has a few fatal flaws and Missouri's just not as good as I and others thought at the beginning of the season.
Brown and Bergeron for Texas: sustainable as a legit dual-threat, is Bergeron a threat to unseat Brown, and how scary is this team rushing attack going to be to close out the year (let alone next season)?
Yeah, those two guys are solid. Has to be so exciting for Texas to watch, and with Johnathan Gray on the way, it's even more so. Texas wants that rushing attack, and it's going to have to continue, considering where the talent is. They need as many carries to go around as possible. Their best players are running backs, and they've got a lot of them, vs. David Ash, who is OK, but not a guy who looks like a franchise QB.
Do you think the apparent emergence of Bergeron will affect the recruitment of Gray for UT?
No. Ask Texas A&M if you can have too many good RBs.
If Oklahoma wins the big twelve championship should they be entitled to play in BCS champ?
Depends on what happens around them. If Stanford and Boise lose, yeah, I'd make that case. But as much as I dislike the idea of a rematch, I don't think OU has any case to go in over Alabama. Saturday's result was not what OU needed.
What do you think about Bergeron taking carries away from Brown?
That's not quite what happened on Saturday, but they're different backs. Bergeron is a little more explosive, but Brown has proven to be really reliable. Saturday was the first time I really got a good look at Bergeron, so we'll see what he offers over time. Texas Tech isn't exactly putting an Iron Curtain on the field.
Was it just me or did Mizzou's 'great' run defense look pathetic against Baylor? And why no adjustments at halftime? There are some big coaching questions for the Tigers if they plan to compete in SEC.
Missouri's defensive line really has been a pretty big disappointment this year. James Franklin's been as good or maybe better than expected. Everywhere else just hasn't gotten it done for Mizzou.
Not to justify their poor defensive play against Kansas State, but can you remember another time that a team had four turnovers, and had less that half the possession time of their opponent and still won. That was pretty amazing play in the fourth quarter for Weeden and the Cowboys to come back and win the game!
All good points, Harry. OSU made some big mistakes that helped that get out of hand in the first half, but made enough big plays late to change it.
What do you think the odds are that Baylor is favored going into the December 3rd meeting with Texas in Waco?
Not good. Longhorns are getting their horns back little by little. Or, if you prefer, "Brick by Brick."
Do you think Texas recruits are "overrated"? Seems to be not true in this conference just look at OU and UT and how many conference championships they have compared to missouri.....
Ha, no, I don't. And to clarify, Sheldon Richardson was talking about players from the state of Texas, not Longhorns players or recruits.
Hey David, I was glad you got to come to one of our games finally, even if it wasn't a home game for us. That said, how excited are you for the new Call of Duty that came out today? I can't wait to play it with my youngsters.
Ha. E-mail of the day.
Was I the only one who hated yet loved the fact that two awesome games where going on at the same time saturday night? Never thought that OSU KSU game would be so good..
Nope, it was painful. There were a few folks streaming LSU-Bama in the press box in Stilly. Heck of a game. Two very different styles. Two very fantastic showcases for the game.
Seeing as LSU and Bama's defenses both improved their points allowed averages during regulation, it seems logical to argue that they have the very definition of below average offenses. Given that, how do you think OSU would fair against either one in the title game?
Not well, in my opinion. I keep looking back to Oklahoma against Florida in 2008. I think it'd be close, but if it came down to it, OSU would have trouble with LSU or Alabama.
Ubbs, can OSU beat OU without Copper and Harrison?
OSU will probably have Cooper. A better question is can OU beat OSU without Ryan Broyles and Dominique Whaley.
What do you think about A&Ms run defense up against KState? Smell an upset?
The Aggies will do OK, but is that an upset if the Aggies win?
Your guess on Snyder's windbreaker against A&M? Perhaps the 2001 Cotton Bowl?
I'm waiting for a Copper Bowl polo.
What do you think BU chances to win out? Since KU appears to be a win, OK is at home (BU plays tough at home), Tech at Jerry's world, but I think this will be a shoot out and Texas back home, BU has something to prove. Do you agree?
Best-case scenario, they can win three of those. KU doesn't have the offense to keep up. BU doesn't have the defense to keep up with OU. Tech and Texas will be close just like last year.
Brown, Burgeron, Gray in the wishbone next year... Does it give you goosebumps?
Would be pretty fearsome.
What do you think about matchup of Blackmon vs. LSU secondary?
Would be pretty fun to watch. He did well against Prince Amukamara last year.
What has been going on with the Red Raiders since OU. Really bizzare...
Your guess is as good as mine. Complacency in preparation leading up to the game is my only guess.
Do you think that WVU will do well in all sports in the Big 12? Do you think that they will be a strong force in this conference?
The money sports will be fine. I don't know a ton about how they recruit, but they'll be able to dip into Texas a little bit. I think TCU will develop into a force on the recruiting trail in Texas, but the state should give the Mountaineers a little boost.
How awesome does Texas vs. Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl sound?
Pretty awesome. And realistic.
Will the texas Longhorns be the team to beat in the Big 12 next season?
Not the team to beat, but they're looking like a team that could be a contender next year.
Sherman need an OC or no?
No. He's made it work.
Who would you take Joesph Randle or Trent Richardson?
Come on now, Chris.
If A&M goes 6-6 or 7-5, what changes need to be made?
Campaign for games to be shortened to 30 minutes?
What are you calling the Blake Bell formation at OU?
I'm fully on board with the BellDozer.
Brian in Dallas and David----2 exciting games on saturday night???? the LSU-Bama game was a snore fest!!!!! not to mention some of the sloppiest offfense you've ever seen
Don't hate the players, hate the game, Steve. And apparently, you did.
Does Tech make a bowl game this year?
Who has the best shot at beating LSU? OSU, OU, Stanford, or Oregon?
Stanford. That said, I think OSU would beat Stanford handily.
Who is more important to OSU, Blackmon or Weeden?
Last year, I would have said Blackmon. This year, it's Weeden.
Do you think Lache Seastrunk will make a difference for Baylor next season?
Do you think Landry Jones sticks around for his senior year to improve his game, or do you think he's headed to the NFL?
I'd expect Landry to leave, but don't be surprised if he comes back. Oklahoma could maybe make another run at the title, and he saw what happened to Sam Bradford. Bradford endured the nightmare scenario, and despite that, still was the No. 1 pick overall and is doing fantastic in the NFL.
OU should have kept the "belldozer" (weak by the way) a secret until Bedlam don't you think? It should be called the the Dumb Bell.
Ha. Not weak. Also, they couldn't wait that long. OU needed help in short yardage situations.
Who has more rushing yards, Texas or Mizzou?
Texas will on Saturday.
I strongly think that OSU will be able to beat LSU, they gave up a couple td's to both Oregon and West Virginia and I believe our offense is better/much better than both, as well as the defense much more opportunistic... Thoughts?
Yeah, OSU can definitely beat LSU. It's totally possible. But can they do it with everything to gain on a stage that OSU has never played on, in the Superdome, which is a far cry from a neutral site?
I didn't realize Cincinnati had 40,000 students...I could see Louisville and Cincy in the Big 12, giving it some geographic balance. Thoughts?
It could happen. The Big 12's got some OK options. If it invited Louisville and Cincy, I'd probably be behind it. Would offer some additional stability for the league. But does it make cents?
Do you think Cyrus Gray will be as phenomenal as he was last year when Chrisine Michael went out with an injury? i.e. his 100-yards rushing a game streak.
Maybe not to that level, but I think there's some legitimacy to the idea that Gray plays better when he gets more touches.
Landry could be the first quarterback taken in the 2013 draft. And Bob gets people to stay.
Good points. No chance to go No. 1 this year.
Why is there a lack of talk about Brandon Weeden for Heismen?
Don't ask me. He's been on my ballot for a few weeks now. Some guys have been better, but he's been outstanding.
Do you see TCU taking a chunk of Texas A&M recruiting wins in the near future?
Why do you thing that OSU has been so underrated this year?
How much do we know about Texas? Losses to the clear top two teams and wins against the bottom teams. These next four are where the real competition is, right?
Agree. Time to prove it. But Texas has been blowing the heck out of teams this year.
A couple more questions ...
Tech struggling bad.Tuberville seat warming up.Results needed soon. Agree?
Maybe a little bit, but not seriously. They've got to rediscover whatever they had at Oklahoma. I think it's most frustration than any serious institutional problems. Tech's only going to get better. Most of the offense is back next year and Tuberville's in position to top his recruiting class from last year, which was the best in school history. Three players in the top 150.
Lets talk about Blackmon returning punts...
Terrible idea. That's all.
Do I come back to Wacky Waco next year? And how explosive would our offense be with me and Seastrunk in the backfield?
Yep. And very.
If my team makes it to the NCG, should I dance for the cameras? That'll help me get recruits, right?
YES YOU SHOULD.
Dave, is TCU sliding into A&M's sched? Would WV get Miss sched if they come aboard in 2012?
Sounds like that is NOT what's going to happen.
Is it a shame if Ronnell Lewis enters the draft? He?s having a great year in his first time starting at DE but if he stayed he could be an All-American next year and make himself a top 5 pick?
It's a personal decision. I could see that latter scenario happening.
That's it for today. Thanks for all the questions! See you next week.
