Happy Friday! Unless you had Michael Bush or Denaryius Moore on your bench...Hopefully there's some fantasy salvation ahead in Week 10.
How bad is Frank Gores' ankle, And should I start Kendall Hunter.
Eric: Thanks for being the first to post. It sounded as if it was causing him some serious discomfort post-game and some limitations earlier in the week. But as of yesterday he said he felt good and he expects to play. I'd start Gore.
I know you own Andre Johnson in fantasy as do I, are you holding on to him to see if he comes back after the bye or are you looking for trade offers for him? Do you think he will be ready after the bye week? I listen to the fantasy focus podcast and you do such a great job. Good luck to your 49ers!
Ty: Yes, I do own Andre Johnson and I have no intention of trading him. I have confidence that once he comes back he will stay back (hopefully no jinxing happening now) and he's been too valuable when he plays. There's still a chance that he plays THIS week, but is virtually assured of coming back Week 12 otherwise. And thanks for the kind words.
Thanks in advance for picking my question. If you pick this I might have to play the lottery tonight. Do you think Nicks will be effective if he plays?
Bharath: Go get a ticket - and don't forget to share your big winnings! I don't think Nicks will play if he doesn't think he can be effective. He's been a good judge in the past of coming back from injury. As we know, hamstrings can be trickier and there's always the risk of a setback, but I lean toward him being effective.
What's the situation with Julio Jones?
Zach: Hard to say. Very little word out of Atlanta. He was not on the injury report Weds then listed as limited Thurs. Don't know yet if it was a setback or a proactive limit to his work. Today's practice should be the indicator...so stay tuned.
Bradshaw likely being out this week doesn't affect my team as much as if he is out next week (Foster on a BYE). What is Bradshaw's prognosis and when is he most likely to return??
Sarah: I like how you're planning ahead. Unfortunately, Bradshaw can't really help you much in that regard. With a stress fracture, the key is rest - and the decision to return to play is based on when the athlete can run again without pain. Literally could change from one day to the next. Sounds like he's been progressing to walking without pain so hopefully soon.
Is Fred Davis ok to go this week? Would you use him as a flex over Brandon Jacobs and a disappointing DeSean Jackson? (PPR League)
Perry: He is. Full participant in practice all week. Expect him to go - and I think he would be my choice of your 3. DeSean Jackson second.
What's the word on Jermaine Gresham, is he expected to play this week?
Alex: It's not looking good. Downgraded to missed practice Thursday after limited work Weds. Not exactly encouraging.
Should we be worried about DMC returning? And if he does will Bush steal carries? THANKS!!!
John: It's hard to know just when McFadden will be able to get back since he was still on crutches the other day. But they have 10 days between games so if he's walking normally by start of next week, then it's possible he's back. It will be interesting to see how they decide to split carries since in the past (like before Hue Jackson) they have gone with the hot hand, especially when DMC was coming off injury.
Incorrect answer on Andre Johnson. If somebody is willing to give you $.80 on the dollar for him right now, absolutely take it. Not only will he not help you in Week 10 or Week 11, but Houston has transformed into a run-heavy team... what need to they have to use Johnson heavily?
Bob says my answer is incorrect. So here's another opinion. I stand by my keeping of AJ.
Hi Stephania. First time long time. Was offered Mendenhall for Murray. Which back do you think will be more productive ROS? I'm a little concerned about DeMarco's touches once Felix is healthy. Thanks!
Todd: Welcome. I say Murray. First, it's more like if Felix is healthy. I think he comes back from the ankle, but remember he also has been dealing with a shoulder injury and is known to be oft-injured. And the way Murray is playing, they're not going to completely flip it back to Jones when he returns. Think he'll need to prove himslef and that he can stay on the field.
Is Steven Jackson gonna be ok to run ruffshod over the Brownies?
Michael: I believe so. There's been no hint of concern out of St. Louis (and usually we'd hear about it) so expect him on the field - and hopefully running plenty.
Whats the status of Beanie Wells?
Jay: Same as it pretty much has been. He's probably going to be listed as questionable after limited practices this week. We expect he'll play. Then we have no idea whether we get the Wells of a couple weeks ago or the one of last Sunday. The knee has the potential to act up at any point and so this is likely to be the scenario going forward. Very annoying for fantasy owners.
My fantasy team is hurting with McFadden out and Ingram still banged up... Do you think Ben Tate gets enough carries to warrant a start?
Kevin: They've shown that they will still use him. But likely not at the rate of a RB1. As a flex? Probably worth it.
Hey stekpahania, is Blount fully recovered from his injury? Him or Sproles in a PPR?
Lenny: Hard to know - often these guys are back playing before technically fully healed - but the key is whether he can do what he did before. Really didn't see that last week - but the expectation is he will get better (as long as he doesn't take a hit to the knee that sets him backward) going forward.
Hi Star! Daniel Thomas seems to be limited every week. Should they have just sat him for a couple and let him get back to 100%? What do you expect from him in the future? Thanks!
Tyler: It's always easier to look from a distance and say - "Oh, this is what they should have done..." Most of these injuries are tested with increasing workloads and until that test happens, you don't really know where the athlete is in terms of recovery. That said, Thomas hasn't been consistently healthy all year. Last week he was active after missing the prior week but he really didn't do much. This week he's not on the injury report at all but it's hard for me to believe that he's suddenly fully recovered. So I think he'll be a good back, but will he show his full potential this season? Don't know - and I'd only play him as a low RB2 this week.
I have Stafford and Tebow. I know Stafford is the safe start, but would I be crazy to go for the potential with Tebow?
Krista: Given the fantasy numbers Tebow has put up, far be it from me to call you crazy. But Stafford has been amazing for the bulk of the season - and that's who I'd choose.
Any word yet on the severity of Ford's foot injury last night?
Josh: Not yet. Just that he was on crutches and it's a midfoot sprain. Just like they said about McFadden. Hmmm.
My friend never stops bragging that you answered his question last season. Can you give me something to brag about? What's the status on Wes Welker and Sidney Rice?
Zak: Sure. Welker is listed on the injury report as having a "rib" ailment. If you saw him go down last week, I thought he might have broken one, or several. So I'm sure he has very sore bruised ribs and that's why he's been limited. But this is a big game and I expect he plays, maybe with protective gear. As far as Rice, he's been on the injury report with this foot thing and still played so expect he does the same this week.
Hi steph... would ingram make it this week or can i start Thomas again? Thanks for your help!!!
joey: Today will determine a lot for Ingram. At least he's back in practice for the first time in 2 weeks, on a limited basis. But what he does today should give us a better idea as to how the team is leaning for Sunday. Not sure he's convinced them he's quite ready for game action.
Is Mcgahee able to catch passes with that hand or is he strictly going to be running the ball?
Ryan: It's certainly harder to catch with the hand wrapped the way that it is. Not sure I'm prepared to say he doesn't catch any, but my guess is he's primarily used for running plays. And thanks.
The reason Houston has become a run-heavy team is partly because AJ is out. He's one of the top WR's in the game and they will use him when he's back.
Another opinion on this topic. I agree that they have shifted their game plan (Kubiak has even said as much) with AJ out and they won't ignore him when he's back.
it is very disheartining never to be chosen sometimes I think this is all rigged and u already have the questions pre determined prove me wrong..anyway I have bad rb's with my 2 guys hurt. so lawfirm ,benson, battle ,tate which 2
Joseph: It's very disheartening to read these things, especially when we do our best to answer as many as we can. Consider that I'm trying to hit a variety of questions that will address the things that are being asked by multiple people (so very specific lineup questions are less frequently picked) - unless you have player choices similar to many other folks...And NO, not rigged. Please...But you ahve RBs in question like many others do. I like BJGE and Benson.
Hey Stephania, what is the latest that you have heard on Jahvid Best? Any chance he comes back this week or next week?
Seth: Only that he continues to be evaluated and apparently met with doctors (which probably means a more thorough evaluation, or re-evaluation, to see how he's progressing on all fronts). There is no way to predict recovery so whether it's one more week or four more weeks (or not at all) is impossible to say. He seems to think he's back this season. All we can say with confidence is it won't be this week (although team hasn't yet ruled him out).
roy helu worth a flex start?
Chad: He sure was for me last week! Always ahrd to know how Shanahan will rotate his backs so you'll probably have an in-game ulcer watching to see what happens, but he should get some carries, just don't know how to project total points in this situation.
Hillis ROS or DThomas? Will Hillis come back, strong? Thanks for your good work...
Scott: Ugh...I have Hillis and have refused, for some strange reason, perhaps stubbornness, to drop him yet. But I still might. It's just my league is so deep that there's no other good prospect so I'm biding my time. I believe it's in his interest to try to make it back. After all, contract at stake, etc. So I think even if he can give 4 good weeks (and they're during my playoffs), he's worth it. But Thomas at least has played more recently than Hillis so at this moment, he's healthier. If I need to pick the guy I can plug in immediately, it's Thomas.
My question never gets answered, cant remember how the skit goes. What up with Percy Harvin? Worth a start over D Branch
I thought it was Wendy Whiner (Debbie Downer)...as far as Harvin, they SAY they will get him more snaps in the second half of the season. Not sure I believe it until I see it. He now says his ribs are feeling better - and they should. They just had a bye week and he's been playing very limited amounts. I probably give him a shot over Branch, don't think that's a huge risk.
CJ or Sproles as a flex?
E: Assume you mean Chris Johnson...and I say Sproles. Consistently has been productive, some days more than others but week in and week out more reliable so far than CJ. And if it's PPR, no question
Start me or bench me?
I ask myself this question every week in the one league where I paid top dollar for you. But I don't blame you, I blame your QB situation. And it's likely Skelton this week. But you did get me some points last week - and you are literally one of the best talents out there, so I start you...and hope for the best.
Is Emmanuel Sanders and H. Ward still hurt, I want to go with Brown but have E. Bennet also?
Clay: Sanders is out for a couple weeks after having his knee scoped. Ward did not suffer a concussion, expect he plays. Bennett had a nice outing but wonder if he can do it twice in a row. I go with Brown.
What's up with Hanson? Should I be looking for a new kicker?
Costa: Stitches in his plant leg after some accident during the bye week. He has been testing out the leg and they've been testing out some other kickers. But until they sign one (which probably wouldn't happen until Saturday), then we assume he's playing. Definitely want to check reports late Saturday (or early Sunday morning) to be sure.
How do you see the Colts RB situation playing out this week? With Addai still not 100%, what's the higher upside - Carter or Bennett/J Baldwin in the flex?
Lisa: I think Addai gets the No. 3 reserve back status again this week. And of your choices, I like Baldwin in the flex. most upside
Is Malcolm Floyd droppable with his injury and Vincent Brown coming on?
Drew: Not prepared to go there. Floyd had an impressive game just two weeks ago. Let's see how he is in 10 days.
Is Nate Washington going to play? Should i start him or Jason Hill? thanks!
Chris: Yesterday when he was still not practicing it started to make me more nervous about his Sunday status. He looked to be in a lot of pain when he came out of the game late last week. Today's practice will be telling. If he's still a no-go, then I'd say, very sketchy. And if he's limited, I'd guess they'll call him Q and see how he is Sunday pregame. Be prepared to have a backup.
Buzzer beater! Any concerns with vjax. He left and came back but looked like his back was bothering him.
Wilt: Looked to me like he might ahve aggravated the abdominal injury as he was hunched over. Also heard the word "rib" floating around. Either way, he missed a few plays and did not look like himself on that last one where he failed to break up the interception. I presume we'll learn more early next week.
OK friends. It's time for me to go. Berry is chatting now. And my good pal Melissa Jacobs chats at 3 p.m. Both of then will have awesome advice for you. See you Sunday on FFNow! Happy Veterans Day and thanks to all those who have served and continue to serve our country. We are forever grateful.
