Well, hello my friends. What a disappointing ending to my Week 11 as Wes Welker came 5 points shy of making up for my opponent's Rob Gronkowski. An opponent I was defeating (soundly, I thought) heading into Monday. THought there was nothing to worry about, with Welker yet to play for me and all...Didn't work out so well. Sad.
Steph, was Welkers awful game Monday due to his injuries? 1 catch late in the 4th quarter??
Mark: We might as well start here since I can't let it go. No, it really was just the way the game unfolded and the coverages from the Chiefs. And the robbery from Gronkowski. Welker has certainly had his share of nicks and bruises and is playing onward. But that was just the game.
Hi Stephania. What can you tell me about Fred Jacksons injury and will he miss any time? Will it hurt his on field performance?
LeAnne: He was apparently very, very sore Monday with the bruised calf. The problem with the calf muscle is it can bleed quite a bit with a deep bruise and then it gets really tight, hard to get swelling out. So it can be a little slow to recover from. And he's still not practicing. I'd be planning for an absence Sunday.
Stephania, I traded for Andre Johnson before week 4, please tell me he's going to play and be a top 10 WR from now on. I'll beg..
Nick: So far the indications are that he'll play this week. Back in practice and it went well. Top 10? I'd like to believe - may take a bit for him/Leinart to get all synced up. Hopefully this week is helping.
Any word on Julio Jones playing this weekend against Min?
Danny: He's saying he's not sure he'll play. Probably safe for him to say that, esp given that he's had two hamstring injuries. Likely to be another gametime decision.
What's the good word on AJ Green? Was a little surprised he was inactive after reports came out the injury was not serious...
James: I know - and the team said early on that he wouldn't miss any time. The beauty of injuries is that they have their own timetable. And while it wasn't a more serious injury, it was the kind of thing where if something else were to happen, it could become a big problem. If he's still limping, not running normally, just not worth taking a risk. We won't probably hear much more until later in the week.
I heard James Starks is practicing, do you think he plays tommorow? Would you suggest picking up Ryan Grant or Kevin Smith?
Adam: You heard correctly, but we don't really know how much he's doing. With both his knee and his ankle bothering him, it's really iffy. Prob gtd. I'd grab Smith first, Grant second.
I own both M.Bush and RDMC who will put up more points?
Jake: No guarantees, right? But given that Hue Jackson reiterated this week that DMC won't play until he's 100%, it's not sounding like he's there yet. So I'm not convinced he's ready to go in Week 12 - and even if he was - I imagine Bush would work mroe as McFadden tests the foot early.
What are your thoughts on how long AP will be out. How severe is a level 1 high ankle sprain?
Sean: Grade 1 is the least severe -little to no structural damage - and that's what the Vikings said about AP (minor lig damage). But - and this is the key - these are not only painful but it's virtually impossible to have normal gait when there's an injury there. and if you push through this type of injury you run the risk of long-term issues. Hard for me to believe they push him. I'm guessing he's out for a couple weeks - but again, it's hard to gauge when you're at a distance.
Any good news on Maclin? I felt empty without you in Fantasy Football Podcasts today :( It's Tuesday! haha
Hank: Why thank you for noticing - but with the short week, I will be there tomorrow for the full preview of games... And as far as Maclin, the Eagles haven't offered anything. I think he's still highly q with both the hamstring and the shoulder.
Any word on Ahmad Bradshaw? He said he will "for sure" be ready for the Saints. What do you think?
Robert: Love his optimism - but he does not make the call on his return to practice - and so far, not cleared. Now...the compounding issue this week is the Giants don't play until Monday night, so they won't practice until later this week. I think it's still possible...but they don't want him on for a week, then out. So Thursday/Friday will be big.
Did I convince you that it was the wind that bothered me in Chicago and not my broken finger?
By the second half...
Starting Shone Greene or McKnight?
Christian: You may have a split dilemma. Greene back in full practice which suggests he'll be ready to play. McKnight was generally better in his place. So who carries the ball? Rex Ryan not telling just yet. Me? I go with MCKnight but on;ly as flex.
Is Miles Austin going to be back this week? Thursday night is throwing off my game, don't know if i should start laurent robinson or take a gamble on fjax playing...if jackson doesnt play i can start nate washington...what do you think?
John: Austin won't play this week. He's not practicing today and with the game Thursday, he won't be ready. Robinson will be the guy. And I don't think FJax ready either.
On Sunday, you gave some good insight into vick's rib injury and how it would hamper his play. do you think he sits out another week? two?
Kevin: Thanks - those things are still a factor and will apparently be tested today as there's a report that he will try to throw. It may be very obvious then that he's nowhere close, but I doubt they'll rule him out this early. I think it will be tough for him, especially with his style of play, to return this week.
Stephania, what's the latest news on Addai? I haven't heard anything since before the bye week.
Nick: Almost forgot about him. The COlts are passing the Patriots in the secrecy department. Not a word other than it's possible he plays. Isn't it always, since he's listed as questionable? We probably won't get a better clue until there's a full week of practice reports...
How's Frank Gore looking? Do you think he gets a full workload this Thursday in the Harbaugh Bowl? .. sibling rivalry and bragging rights at stake .. or are the 49ers content at resting him, having virtually assured themselves of a playoff spot
Eric: Judging from how competitive Harbaugh (Jim) is and how much the 49ers apparently love playing for him, this will be an all out effort. And I think Gore remains the primary back, with spot relief from Hunter. I know it's a short week, but he did fine Sunday in terms of handling the work. And after this short week, there's a long rest.
Do you believe reports that Jay Cutler might be back before the end of the regular season?
Dan: I think it's a very, very long shot. Did a little video on it for ESPNChicago today to explain why. Just especially hard for a QB to get back all he needs to get back and have proper healing.
Traded for Hasselbeck last week after Schaub went down, any news on his status for this weekend?
Scott: Not yet - but no structural damage (which is good). Worry about him being hit when he throws (that's how Palmer hurt his elbow way back when). It will be up to how he feels so as the week moves along, if he can throw hard again (he couldn't after getting hurt), he'll play.
Stephania: Updtate on Beanie and worth the start vs. Rams? Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Heather: Thanks - and same to you! Beanie is unchanged. Knee will be an issue all year. You'd think he will have a better day vs Rams. If i was going to play him, that would be the time.
Do you think Big Ben will be effective with the injury to his hand?
Oscar: Sounds like this is not a brand new thing, so I expect yes, just as he manages to do with most things, he'll play through it and somehow be effective.
Any updates on Greg Jennings? Will he be ok on short rest? Thanks!
Chris: Sounds like he'll be ok. Practicing today and they plan to have him, unless there's some sort of surprise reaction to the workout today. But the Packers expect him to play.
When does Santana Moss return?
Chris: Could be soon. The plan is to have him try to practice Weds - and have him try to catch passes. They wouldn't clear him for that activity if the bone healing wasn't far enough along. So it comes down to how does he do in practice, how does it feel and how does the hand feel the next day. If all feels OK, then no reason to keep him out and he could be back Sunday.
Is it safe to start McGahee this week?
Trey: I think so. He didn't do much last time but it was just four days after the injury. Now he's going to have had a ten day break - and when he came out of the game he said it felt pretty good, no worse for the wear, etc. Always a worry with hamstrings - we've seen the setbacks around the league this year - but I wouldn't sit him.
Do we see Malcom Floyd this week?
Steve: Don't think so - but he could always make a late week appearance in practice and change our minds.
Percy Harvin is back! Did the bye week let him finally heal? Do you think he'll continue to produce, or was he a one week wonder?
Karl: He actually was helped by the fact AP left the game, Frazier even said as much. So with AP expected to miss this week, looks like he's at least a 2 week wonder. Actually, the more involved he gets in the offense (and presuming the ribs continue to hold up), the better his chances of staying involved.
Missed you on the Podcast today. Any thoughts on M. Hardesty?
Dave: Why thank you - but I'll be there tomorrow...Hardesty saw limited practice last week but they're still wanting to be cautious with him. So it tells me they want to see how he responds this week and maybe they bump up the activity a notch. If holds up well, could play Sunday. Might come down to Sunday.
I realize you may not want to discuss the amazing Gronkowski, but I will ask anyway! Any concerns about him after his scary landing in the endzone last night? I can't believe he didn't injure his neck or get a concussion.
Sean: Sigh. It's OK - I'll talk about him. That was a pretty scary landing he took and he looked like he was stumbling when he got up. Later he said he wouldn't admit if he got woozy (not smart) but whatever he experienced didn't linger. They put him through sideline concussion evaluation tests before they let him return. Based on all that, unless he has symptoms that crop up later in the week, looks as if he'll be ready to play again. Not against me thankfully.
Is Denarious Moore the unquestioned #1 with DHB out? Why wasn't he last week and what's with Murphy's injury?
Dan: Think you mean Ford(?) Still recovering from foot sprain,a la McFadden and no indication he'll be ready this week. Good chance Heyward-Bey is sidelined after suffering the neck injury/concussion. Moore has to be the favorite.
Any update on the Cowboys fullback. Need a bigger week from Demarco this week to make the playoffs.
Mike: Looks like he won't be available as they're still trying to sort out his illness.
Start Kevin Smith or take the wait and see path with Fred Jackson?
Mike: Smith, don't think Jackson plays this week.
Gates looks like he is getting faster? Thoughts?
Sean: Seems more to me like he's learning how to adapt to the whole foot thing. Still looks unnatural the way he's running. Have to believe it's still uncomfortable, just tolerable. And he uses his size well, just gets into great position and athletic enough to outmaneuver defenders. But running? Still looks awkward to me.
OK everyone - thanks for coming. Time for me to head out of the chat room. No Friday chat because of the holiday - but good luck in Week 12!! Podcast tomorrow with all the previews, Fantasy Football Now on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET!!
