Melissa Jacobs
  (3:00 PM)

Hello everyone and welcome to Week 13...aka crunch time. Many owners, myself included, have make or break matchups this week. I tend to be slightly conservative with so much at stake, so keep that in mind with the advice. Let's get it started...

Sandra (Detroit)

What are you thoughts on Jackie Battle? Is he even worth a bench spot?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:01 PM)

Hi Sandra! You can dump Battle at this point. He's done nothing in weeks and is losing carries to McCluster and Thomas. Would rather have either of those guys, to be honest.

Aaron (Oakland)

Plax, Crabtree, Greg Jennings, Early Doucet pick 3

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:02 PM)

Hi Aaron! Plax, Crabtree, Jennings. Doucet hasn't topped the 50 yard mark in weeks

Flex Appeal (a stadium near you)

PPR league with bonus pts for long td's - Percy Harvin or Jason Witten as a flex this week and ROS ? Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:04 PM)

Hi Flex Appeal! Nice name. That's a toughie . Don't love Harvin this week but do rest of season, especially with bonus points for ling touchdowns. But I like Witten this week for sure.

Mark (San Jose)

Hello again Melissa. In one of my leagues I'm hurting at TE and have added Tamme. He was nice his first game as a starter, but last week he was awful. Do you think he will have value in the near future or should I look elsewhere? Other options, Cook, Heap, Boss, Fasano, Watson?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:05 PM)

Hi Mark! Thx for coming back. I'd stick with Tamme. Not jazzed about your other choices and I'm always high on tight ends with new quarterbacks. They seem to like that security.

Nafis (SF)

Hello Melissa, do you think CJ Spiller can be a RB2 in a PPR league or would your rather go with James Starks?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:07 PM)

Hi Nafis! Spiller disappointed last week but I still like him over Starks. Starks is kind of invisible in that offense. At least Spiller will get opportunities both on the ground and in the air.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Are you Related to Giants Running Back Brandon Jacobs?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:07 PM)

Why yes. He's my identical twin. Didn't you check my bio picture?

Mike Ho (Hong Kong)

Hey Melissa, thanks for answering my question last week. Which running back should I go with in the playoff weeks in a PPR: Jon Stewart, CJ Spiller, or James Starks?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:09 PM)

Hi Mike! Thanks for the return. I like Spiller over JStew as well. Too crowded of a backfield for Stewart.

Dave (Novato)

Hi Melissa, if McFadden comes back next week, would you put him in immediately?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:10 PM)

Hi Dave! Depends on the situation. If McFadden practices in full most of the week, then yes. But if he's out and it's game-time then...or Jackson indicates he'll split time with Bush, then I'd wait.

Alice (berkeley)

Sadly I'm stuck with a QB from the Rams/49ers game. Who's the better bet?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:12 PM)

Hi Alice! That's also tough. the Rams have actually been better than I thought against the pass lately. (Granted they've had terrible opponents). The Niners do allow big plays and since the Rams won't be able to run, l see Bradford in the air a lot. Therefore, Bradford.

Gino (Lima)

Saw you railing on McNabb. He's not that bad.

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:13 PM)

Hi Gino! Must have been Twitter - unless you're a fly on my office wall. He is that bad. I don't see any value he proves for the Bears, Texans or anyone. Have you seen him play the last 3 years?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:14 PM)

I also said on Twitter I'd rather have Garcia than McNabb. There's an educational element to signing a veteran QB. McNabb just seems like he has no interest in the position anymore. Sad.

Aaron (Oakland)

Hey-should I play Bradford, Sanchez, or roll the dice and go with Orton?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:16 PM)

Previous Bradford rec aside, I'd go with Sanchez. just when you think he's on the verge of being benched for Brunell, he throws 4 TDs.

John (SC)

chances AP plays Sunday? and if he does, how well do you expect him to do?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:18 PM)

Hi John! Looks like a game-time decision. He hasn't been cleared to practice but says his injury is "winding down" and he'll practice cutting on his own. Thank you to the other AP (Associated Press). I think he's a good start if he plays, especially with Von Miller coming off finger surgery.

J.B. (PA)

MJ: You gave me great advice last week with the Rams D/ST (OK you confirmed that I made a good move but still...). This week's dilemma is GB or the Jags. I figure Rivers is good for a pick or two so I'm leaning that way. Thoughts?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:19 PM)

Hi J.B. I'd probably go Jacksonville as well for the very reason you stated. Hope my endorsement works out again this week. :)

Andy (Vestal)

Never play Sanchez

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:20 PM)

That is a fantasy rule for many.

God (Denver)

Hi Melissa, love your work. I like Tebow but thought his accuracy would improve by now. When should I pull the plug and make him start losing games?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:20 PM)

God likes my work. Cool.

Aaron (Oakland)

Do you think that I should go Roy Helu, Willis McGahee, or Jackie Battle? Pick 2

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:22 PM)

I like Helu for sure and McGahee (if healthy). Very anti-Battle at the moment.

John (SC)

ok assuming AP plays, would you sit larry fitzgerald to play him?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:23 PM)

I think so. It's tough but there's no guarantee Fitz does anything with that QB against the Cowboys who will focus on him.

J.B. (PA)

God Shammgod lives in Denver now?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:23 PM)

Apparently. Who knew!

Jake (Maimi)

Please Melissa i need your help, super tuff one here. I know the 49ers D is tuff but am i crazy for wanting to start Lloyd over Dez?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:25 PM)

Hi Jake! No, not at all. The Niners pass defense is good, not great (except for Carlos Rogers). And the Rams have to win through the air. Bryant's been so-so lately and the possible return of Austin isn't going to help his fantasy numbers.

Big D (DeKalb)

What is it with all these washed up old quarterbacks getting tryouts? They're like those sad girls who hang out at the bar until 2am in the hopes that some down-on-their-luck drunk with huge beer googles will take them home just for one more night of glory. Thoughts?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:26 PM)

I don't know how to answer that. Anyone else care to take a stab?

Sean (Charleston, SC)

Two things: 1. You're gorgeous.2. What happened to my Buffalo Bills?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:28 PM)

1. Thank you 2. They unraveled just about everywhere. it seems like they were playing above their talent level at the beginning of the season. Good defenses have been able to shut them down for the most part.

Lee (my desk)

follow you on Twitter- - - If McCoy is out do you start Brown over Spiller in a PPR. I need to win my division. AND if AP plays. . .do you star him over CJ0K or Sproles.???? Thanks Melissa!

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:31 PM)

Hi Lee! That'a a toughie. I'd probably go Spiller because the Eagles are so unpredictable. And the 'Hawks have a pretty good run defense. And yeah, I'd start AP unless Frazier says it's going to be a split situation.

J.B. (PA)

In an attempt to answer Big D: It's the end of the year and all of the decent to good backup QB options are already gone. You have to put someone under center for a handful of games so best bet is to find a guy who has done it before to some degree. He's only going to be there for a short time anyway.

LeAnne (Washington)

Would you start Santana Moss, Mike Williams or Burleson at the flex position this week?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:33 PM)

I'd start Williams. He's been on a roll lately. Hate matchup for Moss. Burleson's production has been down.

John (SC)

would it be a good move to drop tolbert for kevin smith?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:34 PM)

Obviously a risk with the Smith injury, but I would. Smith looked awesome against GB before he was injured. Since it's minor I'm not worried about it limiting his production.

J.B. (PA)

I hate to ask start/sit questions but I feel compelled to do so here. I'm torn between Laurent Robinson, Antonio Brown and Crabtree for my 2nd WR spot this week. Robinson has been a TD vulture, Brown is a big HR threat, and Crabtree is getting more looks. Taking your SF bias out of the mix, how would you play it?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:36 PM)

J.B., I'm here for start/sit questions. I'd go with Robinson. As you said, he's been a TD vulture. And he's getting more overall targets. Every week I think he's roll is going to end, but it doesn't.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

What NFL Team do you think has a very bad Running Back that they need a Running Back in the 2012 NFL Draft?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:37 PM)

Hmmm. Maybe the Jets. No one else really comes to mind.

Andrew (Secacus)

Is Blount as good of a start as everyone is saying?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:40 PM)

Hi Andrew! Yes, He's coming off back-to-back 100 yard games. More importantly, the Panthers front seven are beyond awful. Always start the RB facing them.

Heather (Oahu)

Witten or Hernandez at TE?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:42 PM)

Hi Heather! This is close. I'd probably opt for Hernandez just because I see the Pats lighting it up against the Colts. I think Witten has a good game too, but Hernandez has a slightly better matchup.

Sammy (Seattle)

Play Beanie Wells, even against tough opponent?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:43 PM)

Hi Sammy! Yeah, Beanie certainly had it good last week against the Rams. Dallas is definitely a tougher opponent but Wells' is running really solid right now. He'll put up some numbers.

John (SC)

thanks for the help. one more, kevin smith over larry fitzgerald?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:44 PM)

Yes, I'm very high on Smith (based on what we've seen). Worried Fitz will be smothered on Sunday.

LeAnne (Washington)

Is there word on if Austin will play sunday?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:45 PM)

He didn't practice again today, so it's looking more on the doubtful side. Those lingering hamstrings!

J.B. (PA)

Almost half way in and no shameless plug for the 'Beat Melissa Jacobs' FFL contest. I admire your restraint.

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:46 PM)

Haha! Follow me on Twitter @thefootballgirl if you want to learn more.

Erica (Vermont)

Any general tips headed into playoffs?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:48 PM)

Hi Erica! Don't get cutesy with your lineup. Do a little waiver blocking. Try to lock your opponent in a closet. Have fun.

Jeff robinson (mpls,mn)

dez bryant or D Branch, pierre thomas or steven jackson thanks.

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:49 PM)

Hi Jeff! Branch - coming off great game, facing the Colts. And Thomas - don't want to start any RBs against the Niners.

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:50 PM)

And here's the happy part of the chat where I get to remind owners that the Niners still haven't allowed a 100-yard rusher or a rushing TD this season.

Dave (Detroit)

Anything new on Michael Turner and his groin? I don't own him but would like to have Snelling next week against Carolina if he is injured.

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:52 PM)

Not that I've heard. I know he's still not practicing. He's going to be a guest on Jim Rome is Burning at 4:30 ET today. You might want to tune in.

Jon (Mason City)

Are you comfortable rolling VY out there tonight against a shaky Seattle pass defense, or would using Dalton on Sunday with the Steelers possibly missing TP be a better option? I have AJ Green and enjoy the Dalton to Green pass plays, but I need a W this week. What ya think!!

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:53 PM)

TP's possible absence changes things. But I think Young is the better option. Mainly based on number or weapons and opponent.Love the Green/Dalton connection too!

Jamie (Toronto)

Cam or Tebow?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:55 PM)

Cam. Too depressing to look at 48 total passing yards, no?

Melissa Jacobs
  (3:55 PM)

All righty, going to wrap this up. I wish you the best of luck this week. And hope you'll all come back next Thursday and report your victories. Good luck!
