Boy did the Bears find a way to lose that one. Don't be angry at me. I predicted a loss. I just didn't anticipate it to be an epic fail.
Jurk, who is to blame for this loss?
Barber. With a whole lot of help from his friends.
It really looks like Cutler was covering up for some mediocre talent on offense. Are the last 3 games and the upcoming 3 games an indictment of Jerry Angelo?
I've been preaching to the choir for years that there hasn't been the talent here especially at WR and everybody has been telling me I'm wrong. Now you see what this team is about without a stud QB. And quite frankly it's not good.
What was more pathetic yesterday the late game errors by Marion Barber or that prevent defense the Bears went into allowing the Broncos to move the length of the field?
Barber was more pitiful but the Bears couldn't get on the same page defensively. You had a group of guys playing Cover 2 and a group of guys playing single high. When you have half doing one and half doing the other, basically you're not playing defense.
Jurko! How did you think the OL played on Sunday?
Louis has gone backwards the past two games, and that's disappointing. When it starts hitting the fan you need your best players to step up and that hasn't happened.
So do you know why the Bear's defense didn't stay aggressive in the 4th quarter like they had all day when Teblow was 3-16?
If Barber hold on to the ball this is a moot point. Denver receivers dropped six passes also. Thomas dropped four passes alone. So that 3 of 16 looked worse than it actually was because Tebow was accurate at times.
Are you sick of Tebow yet?
I thought he played well. I think he's gritty. I think long term he will turn into a gimmick receiver/ RB.
What is Hanie's biggest problem back there? He seems to take WAY too long to make decisions.
I think Jay was more patient and knew how things would develop and could read defense better and knew what was going to open up. But with a less experienced QB he needs to see those receivers open up. If you watched the game and they showed the defensive backfield, there weren't a ton of people open.
I cannot make up my mind on J'Marcus Webb, is he worth keeping or do we need to upgrade on from him?
I think you need to upgrade. He is young so he certainly can improve but the problem is he believes he's already there.
Jurko, yesterday's loss was ugly, but you talk everyone down for me brother? Latest poll shows 2/3's voting that this was the worst Bears loss that they've experienced... With all the bad QB's and the Brett Favre whoopins we've taken over the years... Yesterday stung but not way was it the worst. Calm it down a bit Bears fans.
There's no talking anyone down. The flaws of this team have been exposed. Bad WRs, no depth at OL. The backup QB can't play in the NFL. And your defense is older than dust. By the way Wootten was out there for the guy who loves Wootten. I noticed him because he was on the ground getting up. Not because he was pressuring the QB.
Hanie can't even complete a screen to a RB that Denver forgot to cover. Barber, assuming he didn't fumble or run out of bounds, would have walked into the endzone. McCown time?
The season is over, boys. No chance at the playoffs. Put whoever or whatever you want back there. Christmas is going to suck when the Packers beat the crap out of us.
Jurko, is there any chance that these rumors of Jerry Angeo retiring, or being forced out, are real? Would Tim Ruskell simply take over despite his massive failures in Seattle?
He sees the cupboard is bare. He's getting out while the getting is good. I'd hate to be the GM who will have to fix this mess.
You have a chance to upgrade the LT position or the WR position with comparably ranked prospects. Which position do you address?
WR by far. You now see what not having a No. 1 does to you. By the way I'm putting an APB on Earl Bennett. I wonder if he is still worried about his stupid shoes.
How much would having a new offensive coordinator negatively affect Cutler next year? Am I in the minority thinking just keep Martz so they don't have to start over?
None. Offense might be simplified a little bit. Everybody has a chance to understand it. This might be the best thing that happened to the Bears because now you see what this team is all about.
Jurko - good to see you're around but da Bears/Chicago - jeez! take care.
I grew up a Bears fan and wore the Green and Gold as a pro. Now I work in Chicago. We're going to talk a lot about the Bears.
Jurkovic, if you're not 5 minutes early to the chat you're late! Now drop and give me 50.
Just glad you didn't fine me $500, Coach.
There didn't seem to be any defense by the Bears late, can this be attributed to being on the field longer and the thin air? Can we just blame it all on the thin air?
I told everybody the thin air was going to be a problem. That and an inability to stay on the field killed the Bears. But they lost because Barber couldn't stay in bounds. Two mental mistakes and a fumble in two weeks. Not good.
Will these past 3 games (and maybe more if we keep losing) have any effect on Lovie's future with the Bears?
I don't believe so. If anything he is the saving grace in all this.
Jurko having seen a lot of OL play in front of you what do you think is Lance Louis' best position? He seems to have started to get exposed out at OT.
RT or LG. I think he could be a dominant guard in the Brian Waters mode.
Seen enough Zach Bowman? He was beaten like a rented mule.
Great balance. Hard to play DB on your knees.
After seeing our performances against KC and Denver, is it safe to expect a blowout against Seattle next week?
I'd rack up a victory for Seattle. This is the lost season of 2011. One interception return, QB makes great effort, falls on ground, sustains Bennett fracture, season over.
What would you do about Barber if you were Lovie Smith?
Not much you can do. A coach has to show faith in his players and I think that's what he was trying to do in OT, instill confidence. He ran well, caught well, he just didn't hold on to the ball. Which is bad.
What frustrates me the most is that for the first 3 quarters Tebow wa 3 of 16 and 45 yrds and 1 INT. In the 4th he was 18/24 for 191 and 1 TD. It is clear to anyone that the Bears fell into the old prevent or a softer cover 2. How could they even allow this to happen?
They played conservative and they were exhausted. No excuse, but that's what happened. It's what happens when you tie the hands of your offensive coordinator.
Where am I?
I don't know but I'm sure it stink in there.
Can we please see more Khalil Bell now? Isn't he a better option for the Bears?
After two weeks of Barber I'm ready to see more Bell. Doesn't mean Barber will totally disappear. By the way, it's great to have the future Hall of Famer Hester on my team.
Who should get the start next week at quarterback? Hanie or McNown?
God I hope neither. Because either of those choices makes me want to put a 16 next to the opponent's name in my confidence picks.
Who was Bowman looking to hand the receiver off to on the TD pass? You don't play a cover 2 inside the 10 yard line. He was looking around like a safety should have come over.
Even in Cover 2 you're getting depth and breaking up on the shallow stuff. So you clear deep and break on short. He seems to be lost on that concept.
Where am I?
"Is there anybody out there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home? Come on, come on, now. I think you're feeling ... down. I can ease your pain. Get you on your feet again."-- Pink FloydI think that's the best way to answer, with a song.
Does anyone know if Enderle is at all ready for a start?
I would take these three games to find out. You're going to lose them anyway. You might as well find out if the kid can play.
Thought it was pretty low of Barber to skip out on the media and force his teammates to speak for his mistakes. Gotta be hard not to rip the guy in a situation like that.
You've got to stand up like a man when you blow it. That probably speaks to the character of the individual. If you can't face the music is that the kind of guy you want on your team?
After giving up the game will babrber get thte nod to start next week over bell...he did play well up until the fouth.
I think Bell should get the nod and force Barber to earn his position.
Any chance we trade Johnny Knox? I'm tired of this finesse offense. How can your defense be built around power and toughness and yet we have one of the smallest and weakest receiving groups in the league. Tired of watching Knox and Hester try to dance around a DB instead of lowering their shoulders to pick up a few extra yards.
If you could get a seventh-round pick for him I think it would be a miracle. An absolute miracle. Such a bad offense right now.
What's Forte thinking right now? Does he even want to play for this team anymore..?
Even though I'm not playing I still find it difficult to breathe in this thin air in Denver. And it looks like Barber and Bell can't replace me. And I can't wait to cash in. I think that about sums it up.
You think Cutler has earned back a little respect he lost from the NFC championship game? Especially with the way he's played and the way his team has played in his absense?
Oh yeah. MJD and Dilfer were off their rocker. And anybody else who criticized him.
The lack of offensive talent on this team is horrible. I can't believe Cutler was a productive as he was with this group. Imagine how good he could be if he had Green Bay's talent around him?
He would be a world beater. He's throwing to guys who can't catch the ball, who break off their routes. Cutler makes Earl Bennett. He got paid because of Cutler. He should get a bigger cut of Bennett's money than his agent.
It's not going to get any better soon. I'd start to make some plans because the next three Sundays are going to be horrible. One of them is Christmas so Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
