Ohm
  (3:00 PM)

Hey guys, wud up, let's get cracking!

John(Cranbury, NJ) [via mobile]

Ohm, your preseason prediction is still alive, 10-6. Go Big Blue. Anyway, was wondering who we are likely to get more production from the rest of the way... Tuck or Osi?

Ohm
  (3:01 PM)

Yeah it is. But they got to win out to get to 10 wins. Could end up getting nine wins but I came close even if I had the order of wins and losses off. Good question. I'd say Tuck from the standpoint that he should play more games. Tuck is banged up but able to play for the most part. Osi is expected to miss Sunday's game.

Mark (NY)

Hey Ohmie thanks for the time, quick question,I am afraid of the skins all of a sudden balance offense attack.....can the g-men shut them down.I'm scared to death ohmie!!!!!Thoughts?

Ohm
  (3:03 PM)

Here's why you should be a little afraid: Skins play hard and Giants have a tendency to let down or come out flat, especially when the perception is that they should win or are in the driver's seat. It's a 1 pm game against the so-called boring Redskins, a team that doesn't excite people like say the Eagles, Saints, Packers and Cowboys. You can see the Giants coming out flat. That's what I would be afraid of. If they play the same way with the same energy and passion they did the past two weeks, then Giants will take care of business.

LL (MI)

Ohmie, I saw santa last week and told him to get rid of an imposter school known as ________. I told him every time I hear or see this team it makes me sick.I hate this team since the spring of 1979!!!!

Ohm
  (3:04 PM)

That 1979 banner will always hang in Breslin Center. Can't say the same for another school's Final 4 banners from the 90s.

Richard (San Antonio,tx)

Hey Ohm,I think that the G-men played an exciting game Sunday but the secondary gave up too many big plays, also if they didn't have JPP we would have lost the game what do you think? Oh yea Eli had a great game also.

Ohm
  (3:05 PM)

Yeah, if no JPP, no blocked field goal, no safety, no forced fumble. Yes, that would have been a loss.

Brent (Illinois)

Fantasy semi-finals...give me a QB... Big Ben at SF or Andy Dalton at St Louis

Ohm
  (3:06 PM)

Dude, Ben doesn't sound good for Monday night. Here's the problem, if he is a game-time decision, you better have Batch ready to go or have Alex Smith on your team. So unless they say by Friday or Saturday than Ben is DEFINITELY playing, I'd go Dalton. Heck, I may go Dalton anyway since Ben is banged up.

Chris (Chicago)

Love your work Ohm. Mitch Petrus seems like he's given a shot in the arm to the Giants O-line (especially the run-blocking). Why hasn't he gotten a shot until now? He and Diehl at LT are better than the combo of Diehl/Beatty.

Ohm
  (3:08 PM)

Thanks Chris! He definitely has. He hasn't gotten a shot up until now because they had Diehl at left guard and Beatty at left tackle and Boothe is the backup guard/center. So he was buried on the depth chart. But he has provided them with energy and power. He has a few mistakes from time to time but he has been terrific under the circumstances.

Mark (Montreal)

What's the likelihood KP comes back this week?

Ohm
  (3:09 PM)

We'll find out later this week if he can practice. Could miss another game.

Mike (Scranton)

Hi Ohm..as usual great work....after two straight emotional weeks coming back like the gmen did, do u think they might be a little spent this week vs the skins..i know they can see the light at the end of the tunnel but im worried they might be relying on eli's heroics once again

Ohm
  (3:11 PM)

Thanks Mike. Yes, call it four straight emotional weeks from getting beat up by Eagles and Saints and doing some soul searching to playing their butts off against Green Bay and losing at the end to emotional win over the Cowboys. As I answered earlier below, there are many reasons why the Giants could come out flat on Sunday as they tend to do sometimes in those 1 pm games against an unsexy opponent when they are coming off a big win and feeling good about themselves. But considering how Eli is playing and knowing what's at stake, I think Giants should prevail. Could be close though.

Mike (Long Island)

Is Victor Cruz eligible for Offensive ROY? If so, what do you think his chances are of winning it?

Ohm
  (3:11 PM)

Don't think so. This is his second year.

Frankie (Long Island NY)

Ohm,you are The Man for taking time from your day to answer questions. What is going on with our defense? We finally get going offensively and our secondary looks like good ole Swiss Chez!

Ohm
  (3:12 PM)

No prob Frankie. Defense has been awful. I am writing a column on it later today so read up tonight! LOL.

Rachel (Hattiesburg)

Ohm! For some reason on Monday night (when I ask my questions) I dont see your name listed for chat then on Tuesday when it's too late I see your chat and I have missed it. Is there another spot I should be looking to find your chats or does your name pop up on Tuesday mornings when Im not available (usually)?

Ohm
  (3:13 PM)

Hey Rach! How's the fantasy team? The chat is almost always Tuesdays at 2 pm unless something comes up. Today I had to push it to 3 because Rolle and Cruz said some stuff on the radio (in the Giants blog). But unless something otherwise, it's almost always at Tuesday at 2. :) Send me a message on Twitter too if you ever want to know (@NotoriousOHM) and I will get back to you.

Ohm
  (3:14 PM)

Same goes for everybody else. I have been behind on answering on Twitter lately because been so busy with Giants and been under the weather but I will try to get back to you guys if I can!

Jeremy (Rockland)

OHM! Great game Sunday night! A couple of points; obviously the Giants offense is most effective in no-huddle, I'm not saying run it all game, but it would be nice to see in earlier in the game on occassion, the shotgun draw to should be relegated to 2-point conversions only (w Ware), and lastly the screen to Ware should be abolished from the playbook all together. Happy Holidays!!!

Ohm
  (3:15 PM)

LOL!!!!! No-huddle works when it has to work and that is very encouraging. But I fear that if you do it more, that could help defenses be better against it when it really is a 2-minute drill as strange as that sounds... as for the draw, yeah, it's been magic on 2-pt conversions. And for the screen, just have to swap Ware out with Bradshaw.

Alex (Anaheim)

Are the Giants that resilient, are the Cowboys gigantic chokers, or both?

Ohm
  (3:16 PM)

Hey Alex, probably a bit of both. But can't say enough about Eli. He's simply on FI-YAH.

Steve (West Palm Beach, FL)

As of now, which team owns NY?

Ohm
  (3:16 PM)

We'll find out on Christmas Eve.

Daniel (Hamilton, Canada)

was wondering when you think Herzlich will be back and if he will get any quality time at LB?

Ohm
  (3:18 PM)

You know Daniel... Herzlich doesn't look like he will be back on the field anytime soon. He has a boot on his foot. I could be wrong, never know. But I think he could come back later rather than sooner, just my guess. And when he does, he may get some reps but looks like the team likes what they have been getting from Chase.

Josh (College Park)

Is this something we can count on from Jacobs week to week?

Ohm
  (3:18 PM)

You mean 100 yards and 2 touchdowns? Don't think so. But I think you would take 50 yards and a touchdown every game.

Keith (NYC)

Its about time the Giants draft a LB in the first round. There are several good ones this year.

Ohm
  (3:19 PM)

Only if he is the best player available at that point and there isn't a prime time pass rusher available as well. LOL. We'll have to wait and see. The Giants didn't think Prince would drop to them in the draft but he did.

Tabby G (Newark, NJ)

Who takes over if Coughlin is fired at the end of the season, Fewell or Cowher ?

Ohm
  (3:20 PM)

Tabby, love you but let's just get through the season and see if the Giants make the playoffs first and see how it all plays out. Thanks.

Brian (NY)

Any word on Phillips for this week? We need him back.

Ohm
  (3:20 PM)

Wait and see how he does with treatment. Should know a bit more tomorrow.

Tommy (Boston College)

Hey Ohm, I didn't see a whole lot of Manningham catches Sunday, although he seemed to get a lot of targets. Rust or something else? (P.S. My Uncle is a huge Cowboys fan who was at the game. I texted him after the game ended. Haven't heard back. Whoops.)

Ohm
  (3:22 PM)

Manningham was targeted eight times. Only two catches. He did drop that touchdown. Perhaps a bit of rust and timing issues. But Giants will need him, he helps take coverage off Nicks and Cruz. Sorry Uncle!

Bryan (Los Angeles, CA)

Hey Ohm, I dont mean to look ahead and say the Giants season is over but I have been seeing a lot of mock drafts online and each one have the Giants drafting a LB. What do you think?

Ohm
  (3:22 PM)

Every mock draft has the Giants taking a linebacker or an offensive lineman because that is what they need. But as the Giants have shown, they don't draft on need high often, they mostly take best player available. Too far away to predict who they are going to take.

Fanfave (NYC)

Whats up with Prince? he looks very shaky last few weeks, which is par the course for this defense.

Ohm
  (3:25 PM)

Well, couple of things. One, I have been preaching to fans all season long to have patience and lower expectations. I get it, he's a first-round pick, second corner taken. But he missed over half of the season due to a broken foot in his rookie season in which he did not have a mini camp or rookie camp and he missed his only training camp. And now he has some health issues with a back issue and a fatigued foot. Combine all those things and you are probably going to get what you saw. Laurent Robinson burned him on that one big play but that was because Romo had all day to throw. The one before that earlier in the game, it appeared Grant should have given some help but had to go inside.

Boaz (New York City)

Do you have the Giants making the playoffs? and if so what will be their final record, and which teams will they beat/lose to and why?

Ohm
  (3:25 PM)

As many of you guys who are regulars in the chat know... I am sticking by my preseason prediction of 10-6. In this case, if that happens, they are in.

Matt (Newton, Mass)

Hey Ohm,The Giants drafted Ramses Barden to replace Burress on those fade routes near the end zone, but I have yet to see Barden in the game in any of those situations. In fact the Giants did a couple fade routes with Nicks and Mannigham against the Cowboys. Why aren't they using Barden in these situations?

Ohm
  (3:27 PM)

Well, he was in on a fade route earlier this season in the end zone. But in the Dallas game specifically, yes, I agree, don't know why they ran a fade to Beckum over Barden. I get it, bigger tight end on smaller corner. But I'll take Barden in that situation instead. But if you are asking why run it to Nicks or Manningham over Barden, well, those two make plays in the end zone. And I rather have them run a fade to those guys than Barden simply because we have seen what those two can do in those situations. But when it was thrown to Beckum, that was a play I rather see Barden in on. I guess you got to give him some chances to see if he can do it.

stephen (New York)

Does much the loss of DeMarco Murray for the cowboys help the Giants playoff chances?

Ohm
  (3:28 PM)

Yes, but Felix Jones is no slouch as you saw. There isn't a huge drop off. DeMarco is a better playmaker but Felix can bust long ones too as you remember last year.

Brian P (New York)

As a Cornell alum I've gotta ask..what do you think about Boothe's performance this year?

Ohm
  (3:30 PM)

Take away the bad snap that was nullified by penalty and letting Eli get creamed by a DT in the Arizona game and I would say Boothe has been excellent! And I don't say that as any type of disrespect. I am saying that Boothe has been awesome. Those are probably the only two mistakes I can remember off the top of my head that immediately come to mind. And mistakes are going to happen. But for someone to be put in a position where all of the sudden you are starting at LG or C, and on short notice, Boothe has been an incredibly valuable asset for the Giants. Terrific season.

Dutch (Harlem)

Ohm whats good!! Is it safe to say the Baas pickup was not a good one? Seems like when he is out the line performs better.

Ohm
  (3:31 PM)

Well, I'll give him benefit of the doubt because he has been hurt most of the season. Hard to knock a dude when he is not playing healthy.

Bill (NJ)

Ohm, it is pretty clear the Giants offense can score with the best in the NFL (demonstrated against Pats, Packers). The defense is undoubtedly this teams achillies heel especially in the secondary. What can the Giants do the rest of the way to try to fix this issue?

Ohm
  (3:32 PM)

Well, to tell you the truth, I've never thought they were an exceptional coverage team to begin with. But with that being said, they have to be on the same page, can't suffer mental lapses or communication breakdowns because they aren't a lockdown cover team to begin with. Any mistakes and it will cost them. Pass rush has to get better too.

john (eastchester ny)

2:00 minutes left in the game down by 4, tebow or eli?

Ohm
  (3:33 PM)

I love what Tebow is doing. He is a monster and I love watching him in the 4th. But I'll go with the guy who did it against the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Jeremy (long island)

Whos the best receiver on the team? nicks or cruz

Ohm
  (3:34 PM)

Love Cruz. But I still got Nicks as best WR on the team. Cruz is gaining ground, and I am not talking from a statistical standpoint. Obviously Cruz has had better stats. But Nicks is still top receiver.

joe (Maybrook)

hey ohm im 16 and im a die hard football player and aa giants fan but that defense is really not doing good. starting with d-line and ending with secondary but can the giants make noise with holes i the defense?

Ohm
  (3:35 PM)

Wud up Joe. Giants can make noise defensively if that pass rush comes to life like it can. But injuries to Tuck and Osi have hurt. Tollefson also banged up. But if they get into the playoffs, they can play with anybody.

Ohm
  (3:35 PM)

... when they come with the right frame of mind and eliminate the mistakes.

Leinal (Worcester)

Ohm, why do you think the Giants D is so bad? Is it the communication bad? Can our guys (aaron ross *cough*) not cover?

Ohm
  (3:36 PM)

Leinal... kind of answered this question earlier but wanted to get to your question... yeah, I think a combination of a lot of things: They aren't a good cover team, lost good players to injuries and several corners at that, poor communication or mental lapses... need better pass rush too.

Rachel (Hattiesburg)

I made it to the 2nd round of my playoffs, but suffered two major injuries. Jennings and D Murray. The heavy #1 was upset by the 8 seed, so anything can happen. Im thinking of adding James Jones and Felix Jones as replacements. Good moves?

Ohm
  (3:37 PM)

OUCH! Great moves. I'd go for Felix first. Then James Jones. If Demaryius Thomas is out there, give him a look too.

Craig (NY)

Ohm love your work and chats.. whats wrong with Ross.. he got burned by austin multiple times.. also prince didnt look great.. concerned?

Ohm
  (3:38 PM)

Thanks Craig. Well, Ross got burned earlier in the season too. It happens to corners. I'm always concerned with the secondary. The defense has looked bad in the last four weeks with breakdowns. Got to get it shored up. Don't know how many times Eli can bring them back as seen in the SF and PHI case when he couldn't score at the end.

PF (NY)

If Osi and Tuck are both out, do the Giants run some heavy with Canty at DE, run more nickel with Kiwi as an end, or do they leave it up to a three man rotation of JPP, Tollefson and Trattou?

Ohm
  (3:39 PM)

I think you would see JPP, Tollefson start if he can. Lot's of Kiwi in there. And maybe a little Trattou.

Chris (New Jersey)

Ohm, Perry Fewell has done a decent job as D-Coordinator but this defense has not been the same since Spags left. How likely is it for the Giants to bring back Spags should he be fired from St. Louis?

Ohm
  (3:40 PM)

Chris, that would mean Perry would have to be fired. And this organization doesn't really fire assistants unless something goes really really bad like with Sheridan.

Jimmy (Ossining, NY)

Ohm,was just curious on your thoughts about our secondary and coaching situation. Do you think Coughlin stays or goes? If he stays, does he get forced to have to make personnel changes?

Ohm
  (3:41 PM)

Man, the Giants win and you guys want to fire Coughlin? Let's just make it through the season and see how things play out first. Thanks.

Tanner (Stamford, CT)

Ohm, I was wondering if the job security of Kevin Gilbride is up in the air? The draw plays on 3rd and goal from the 5 are getting ridiculous. I know it worked on the two point conversion, but he is in love with the inside handoff. Is his job on the line at the end of this year?

Ohm
  (3:42 PM)

Listen guys, Eli Manning is like on pace for perhaps reaching 5,000 yards passing. The Giants put up points and are hard to stop in the fourth quarter. I know it has all to do with Eli. But don't you guys think that Gilbride has a tiny bit to do with that as well? The offensive coordinator does deserve some credit for how well Eli and guys like Cruz and Ballard have played this season. Just a tiny bit.

Sean (ABQ )

Ohm is Coughlin out if they miss the playoffs ?

Ohm
  (3:42 PM)

Just pointing out to ya'll how many coaching questions I am getting today, coming off the win. LOL.

PF (NY)

Do you think this is Diehl's last year? He struggled as guard, looked horrible against Ware and is owed 8million over the next two years.

Ohm
  (3:43 PM)

Ware makes a lot of people look horrible. I don't know if it is Diehl's last year but I don't think he has been so horrible. The offense has had two 100-yard rushing games for the running game in a row with Diehl at LT.

Kyle (NJ)

Hey Ohm. First off, what was with the ESPN Dallas chat Sunday Night? I don't want to be in a chat and surrounded by 'boys fans. Having that said, is there ANY reason to believe that this Giants pass D will improve AT ALL?

Ohm
  (3:45 PM)

Hey Kyle! Since it was in Dallas, it was a Dallas-dominated chat. Also, I was on the only writer from ESPN-NY there. But this week we'll have plenty of NY writers for you in the live chat!

Ian (NY)

Hey Ohm, love the blog......do the Giants clean up the defense this week...they have had to face Brees, Rodgers and Romo...not exactly slouches...shoudl QB's not on the same level (Sanchez, Grossman) continue to burn them?

Ohm
  (3:46 PM)

Well, Grossman is definitely capable of burning a secondary. Giants know this well (see Week 1).

Ohm
  (3:46 PM)

But I hear what you are saying. Giants got to clean up the defense now.

ASN (NY)

Are all the defensive problems because of Fewell's scheme or is it because there are so many defensive injuries that have hampered the options?

Ohm
  (3:47 PM)

Probably a combination of a lot of things. Bottom line, he's the man in charge so when there are mistakes made by the players, especially communication errors and lack of being on same page, it's up to him to fix it. Perry would tell you that. But he has had several injuries he's trying to overcome and I think that plays a role in his playcalling as well.

Gavin (College Park, MD)

Is JPP getting any love for DPOY honors?

Ohm
  (3:48 PM)

Don't know Gavin. I hope so. But he hasn't been a full-time starter the whole season so probably not among national voters I would think.

PF (NY)

Can we get a Nas Illmatic Fantasy Friday?

Ohm
  (3:49 PM)

Nas, eh? Funny, I got a Wu-Tang request on Twitter as well. I'll do my best PF. IF not this week, then next week perhaps. Or maybe I will combine the two. How about that?

Jimmy (Ossining, NY)

Do we know the results on Tuck's MRI yet?

Ohm
  (3:49 PM)

Not yet. Perhaps tomorrow.

Danny (New Jersey)

Giants suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go jetssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohm
  (3:50 PM)

There you go guys... I don't discriminate against Jets fans either. All are welcome to my chat. Even the haters from Ann Arbor.

Kunal (New Paltz)

Why does Gilbride love the shotgun-draw play so much?

Ohm
  (3:50 PM)

To help keep defenses honest. Can't throw every down. Also remember, sometimes, just sometimes, Eli might audible to a run as well. He did that on the 2-pt conversion draw vs Packers.

Matt (Newton, Mass)

Hey Ohm,Great job covering the Giants. Why aren't we seeing Ramses Barden running any of those "green zone' fade routes? Isn't that one of the reasons the Giants drafted him?

Ohm
  (3:51 PM)

Thanks Matt... answered that earlier below. Definitely would have liked to have seen Barden in that fade play than Beckum just to see what Barden can do. I guess he has to earn the staff's trust kind of like Beckum was starting to do before he got hurt.

George Lewis (Washington DC)

Hey Ohm!!! This is George Lewis reporting live from DC my coworker GregA from DC Says hello buddy....he is very upset about the Cowboys LOST...

Ohm
  (3:53 PM)

Greg Agnostopolos (sp?)??? Tell G I said wud up. Yeah, he and all them Cowboys fans in DC should be upset. They let it slip right out of their hands, again.

Antrel Rolle (NYC)

ohm, I guaranteed a spot on the playoffs last year and it didnt happen but this year #10 is on another level, an ELiTe level. do you see our defense holding up and if we make the playoffs can't you see us competing and beating anyone?

Ohm
  (3:54 PM)

Love Antrel! Especially on the radio. Defense doesn't have to be lights out. Eli has proven that he just needs a little help. I would like to see the defense get two meaningful stops in the fourth quarter of a tight game and eliminate the big plays.

Bill (NJ)

also, can we clone jpp and have him be the whole defense?

Ohm
  (3:54 PM)

Bill, there are a lot of things we could wish for, like cloning Jessica Alba. But it doesn't work that way unfortunately. LOL.

Tommy (Boston College)

Ohm can I just say that if the Giants do draft a linebacker in the first round and that it happens to be a certain BC linebacker, I would possibly be the happiest man in the world on April 26th, 2012.

Ohm
  (3:55 PM)

Recorded.

Kyle (NJ)

Also Ohm, the Giant's offensive play-calling has been pitiful this year. I mean two fades to Travis Beckum and a draw on third and goal??? What is Gilbride thinking and what will it take for the Giants to realize he is one of the worst OC's in the NFL???

Ohm
  (3:56 PM)

First fade was to a WR. Then to Beckum. But I hear you. I guess they saw something work. To tell you the truth, I never mind two consecutive fades as long as no interception. I think the fade has a good shot at working most of time. But it is who you throw it to that also matters. The draw... well...

Shon (Brooklyn, NY)

Hey Ohm. What's the deal with DJ Ware? It always seem like they're trying to get him involved in the offense even when he's a non factor. Why don't they use Da'rel Scott more on offense?

Ohm
  (3:57 PM)

My guess is it also has a lot to do with veteran experience and knowing how to recognize what the defense is doing and who to block and hot reads and a bunch of other things.

John Clayton (ESPN)

I have an Ohm picture on the corner of my bathroom mirror. I envy your hair.

Ohm
  (3:57 PM)

I envy the Professor's reporting skills and experience and sources and his bank account too. :) Love Clayton, the bestest!

andiamo (ny)

when does Fewell get fired?

Ohm
  (3:58 PM)

Here we go Andi!

Dave (Elmira, NY)

Hey Ohm,I'm not a coach by any means...but it looks like Perry Fewell has the D in Zone the majority of the game, Do you think a lot of the younger guys are confused on where to be and if so why not play more man? And seems like they scared to bring the blitz now too!!

Ohm
  (3:59 PM)

I think they are concerned about giving up the big play and that they can't cover as well. But yes, I do think it does lead to some miscommunication some times.

Plaxico (Agrees)

What up Ohm? Where was Greg Jones Sun night? Seems like it was Chase at MLB all night....

Ohm
  (3:59 PM)

Yeah, Greg has fallen behind Chase on the depth chart.

Jeremy (Rockland)

Hey OHM! I know there's a ways to go, but I'm pulling for a Giants-Broncos Super Bowl... wouldn't Tebow vs. Eli be the greatest 4th quarter ever?!?!?!?!

Ohm
  (3:59 PM)

Good Buddha, that would be insane. Just fast forward to the fourth quarter if that is the case.

Dick Humphreys (Richmond)

Hey, Ohm : When's Tuck gonna be a man and learn to play thru pain ?

Ohm
  (4:00 PM)

Dick, Tuck has played through pain entire season, through neck and groin and ankle injuries when he has been able to. Now he has a toe injury. I think he will try to play through it too.

Ohm
  (4:02 PM)

Alright guys. Hit the hour mark and I got to get to writing a column on what's wrong with the Giants defense. LOL. Man, this was a fun chat today. I hope you all had fun too. I apologize so much for not getting to everybody's questions but you guys are great and I always appreciate your questions, comments and passion. Good luck to your teams and fantasy teams this week to and stay safe FAM!
