Time to do it again!! I missed y'all too. Ready... set...Anyone other than me NOT wanna see Tiger and Tebow paired together at Pebble? What's you solution for slow play on the PGA Tour?
I have a solution for the problem at Kapalua concerning players not showing up to represent the PGA as an event winner. Put 25% of his tournament winnings in an escrow, available upon arrival. If the player no-shows, that 25% goes to a charity of the PGA's choosing. Sound fair?
Sounds like too little. I said a player should only get 40% of what ever he makes at his first tour event. "Great win ____! Here's your winner's check for less than the guy who finished third. Sorry about Kapalua. Maybe next year fool!"
If Tiger and Tebow do find themselves paired together, who would it be more awkward for? What would they talk about?
They won't be able to talk cause there would be WAY to many cameras and mics around. That's why I don't want to see it. Manufactured like a "reality" show.
What is the Hottest & the Coldest PGA Tour Event in the History of the PGA?
I don't know that there's ever been a recorded event either way. Venturi's win at the US Open may have been but I caddied in San Antonio one year when the thermometer said 116.
Whos better? Tiger Woods or Brett Favre?
Tiger Woods. He impacted the world. No one knows who Favre is in the middle east.
Will Tiger Woods make the big gig this year?
If you mean will he win a major... yes. I think he wins the Masters.
Will Tiger Woods retire before the season ends?
Yes. Dec. 21 but the world is gonna end so we're all gonna retire. HAHAHA!!! Don't be ridiculous.
Good day to you sir ... question, have you ever had a group you were in put on the clock and did it infuriate the players? Plus, when will we see a penalty on tour for slow play?
I have caddied for a very slow player and the group was put on the clock. No one plays very well when it happens. The guy I caddied for felt the worst cause he knew it was his fault but he just couldn't pull the trigger.Maybe someday, but not for a while. The cry for a penalty still isn't loud enough.
How's Hawaii? and thanks for the piece on Cauley. He's quickly becoming one of my faves. I just hope we don't do to him what we've done to Rickie and overhype him before he's won
Hawaii is awesome. I do have to say I like Maui a bit more than Honolulu, but I ain't gonna say NO to a trip to either!Bud Cauley is gonna win this year. His swing and all around game are much more solid than Rickie's were when he first came out. Rickie is gonna win this year too, but when he first came out he had more holes in his game than Bud does.
Have you heard any reactions to the new taylormade rocketballz driver
I have not. But the true test is when the tour gets to the FL swing, who is still using it.
Why is Jonathan Byrd intent on ruining every single one of my fantasy teams? He's never missed a cut in Hawaii!!
I know he's not doing it just to spite you. But if you roll the dice enough times, eventually you're gonna roll snake eyes. Nature of the game.
Dude, all that pineapple made you puff up. Walk the links. Laughing !
It ain't the pineapple! Even though this is the only place where McDonalds gives out free pineapple chunks with an order. This week's course is flatter than a tournament pool table so I'm not gonna get skinny walking it.
Why do people think players should have to show up at Hyundai, as opposed to any other PGA tour event? The reality is they already pen in the majors, players, (nearly all play the WGC's), then you're looking at Memorial, etc. That's a lot of great tournaments that guys should show up for
It's like saying why do I have to eat vegetables when I don't like the way they taste. Because we want a healthy tour and that means that every sponsor deserves at least once every three or four years the biggest best names in golf at the time to play there event. PGA Tour players are supposed to be on the forefront of growing the game and bringing it to every tournament. Not just your sponsors who write you a big check for a corporate outing.
Thought Tiger was supposed to play with Tony Romo. Makes more sense he'd want to play with a legit player than a hack.
Well in Pebble, you're gonna get at least one hack in your group and that's ok cause you can waste some time looking for golf balls while you wait to hit your next shot.
Has the tour ever entertained a PSA for slow play -- you know along the lines of 'these guys are good' begin to change 'mindset' also I wonder if there are alternate ideas to penalize -- i.e. next tee box remove a club ...
No new PSA. "These guys are slow"?! And if you took clubs out of the bag it would make guys even slower. Try and play with just a seven iron, it takes FOREVER! But I like that you're not afraid to try different things
I know it's almost impossible to predict, but I'm going to ask anyways. Who do you see having a better career Tom Lewis, Peter Uhlien, Bud Cauley or Patrick Cantlay?
Because of what I've seen as far as demeanor on the golf course, Cauley is gonna be a force, but Uhlien and Cantlay aren't far behind. Haven't seen Lewis in person yet.
Do caddies signal to the on course reporters as to what club a player is hitting? I mean, Feherty's good, but I'm pretty sure he can't tell it's a 7 iron unless he's standing right next to the bag.
yes, there are tv people whose job it is to get the club selection from the caddies so they can pass it on to the announcers and most caddies are pretty good about it.
What is your opinion of making players play in every tournament in a 5 year span? Thanks in advance
I think it should be every three or four years.
Why is golf so addicting when people are generally so bad at it?
Because it looks like it should be so easy. And why can you hit that one perfect shot and then can't do it again. It's the ultimate game of physical and mental battle with yourself.
Who is your pick to win the super bowl?
Am I the only one who likes some of these "lesser" events. It gives some new and under the radar players a chance to get attention and shine
No, and my video blog yesterday talks about that. To become a BIG name, you had to be a NO NAME. And in order for a NO NAME to become a BIG name, they need places to play and win on the PGA Tour.
Heh, if you're in Honolulu, go around the corner and walk Ko'olau. That'll get yer heart rate up.
Walked up to the top of Diamond Head. That did the trick too.
Who from Hawaii is in the field?
Tadd Fujikawa and Parker McLachlin are the two sponsor's invites that are from Hawaii. There may be another but I don't think so, I know one of the Monday qualifiers lives in Hawaii but I don't think he's originally from the islands
What do you think of Tom Lewis? Did he get kidnapped after the Open or did he just fall off the Earth? Any clue what he's doing these days?
Well he won in Portugal late last year and is fully exempt on the European Tour so I don't think he's working at the Gap just yet.
If your group gets put on the clock and doesn't catch back up, everyone in the group loses 10% of their check that week. Encourage peer pressure
Won't help, but it would make for some interesting confrontations in the parking lot on Sunday eve! Can't penalize fast players for slow players.
do u like bikes
I ride a Cannondale
Harder job...Comedian or Caddy?
Caddie. I control everything I do and say doing comedy. Caddying I have to always be aware of what someone else is thinking, feeling, etc. and then factor in weather, slope. I know I'm pretty funny and when I get on stage I know I can make you laugh.
What's your most memorable moment as a caddy?
First year getting my friend thru q-school. He hugged me on the 18th and said thanks in my ear. His wife called me and said he wouldn't of made it without me on the bag. Made me cry. But there have been a few others too.
What's one shot you've seen in person (maybe a guy you carried for) that caused you to say "I know these guys are good, but wow!"
I've seen too many of those to put on here. Ironically enough one of the greatest shots I've ever caddied/seen was from George Lopez at the Outback pro-am. Still gives us goosebumps when we talk about it.
Which of the 'new crop' do you think will have the best year ... Q-school grads & from the 25 promoted from Nationide ... what do you think about the proposed new way to the tour ... fall series and losing q-schools altogether?
I think it'll be 50/50. There will be just as many guys keep their cards both ways. And I'm sick of people that wanna change the fall series and q-school. The battle to keep your job at the end of the year is compelling, but no one wants to focus on that. And changing q-school is a BAD idea. It'd be like Krispy Kreme trying to make healthy food. Just because it ain't glamorous doesn't mean it needs to be fixed or changed.
lugging those big heavy bags must be hard on the back, any chance OSHA will step in and allow push-carts?
I was 6'2" when I started caddying. I'm now 5'6", those bags are REALLY heavy! As a caddy I wouldn't want a pull cart, some of the places these guys hit the ball it'd take too long to get the bag off the cart to get it to where the ball is!
Any word on what Boo Weekley plans to do this year since he didn't get his card?
I'm pretty sure he'll get a few sponsors invites to some events and I think he won't be opposed to going back to the Nationwide Tour and getting his card back that way. He's one of the guys I root the hardest for. Would love to caddie for him if I was gonna get back on a bag. But this job is pretty awesome.
That was fun, thanks everyone! If I didn't get to you or you have a question that's really bugging you email me at ESPNCaddie@gmail.comTalk to ya soon!
