Thanks for having me on!
How hard is it to carry around the pressure of being one of the top prospects in baseball?
Once the season starts and I start playing every day, I just go out and try to have fun and put the pressure behind me. That's what I've been doing my whole career. I don't worry about the rankings.
Hey Mike, what are your goals for the upcoming season?
My goal is just to put up some good numbers in spring training and see where they put me. Obviously I want to get to the big leagues and win a World Series.
Mike, Great to see a east coast kid with so much talent. After looking a little worn down in the fall league, what was your off season like.
It's been going good. I've been working out a bit, throwing, swinging -- it hasn't been too cold out on the East Coast, especially compared to the last few winters. I've spent time with my family.
Your thoughts on the legendary Rally Monkey? Do the players get a little more energy when it comes out?
Definitely! It gets you a little more of an adrenaline rush. It's awesome.
Hey there! What did it feel like when you first stepped foot onto a major league baseball diamond?
It was a feeling I can't explain. Running onto the field, you just have a huge rush of adrenaline, with all the fans cheering for you. It's definitely a good feeling.
Hi Mike, How would you handle starting out the season at AAA or on the bench at the big league level?
I'm just focusing on putting up good numbers in spring training. I'll go wherever they put me -- they haven't made a bad decision with me in the past, so I'll just see where they put me.
Do you collect any of your own memorabilia, like baseball cards, photos, etc??
I have a few things at the house from high school, so kinda. Not a lot of stuff.
What was your reaction when you heard Pujols was joining the angels?
You always want to hear something like that. I forget where I was, but I didn't even know they were in the discussion for him. I was in complete shock. It is such a big boost for our team.
Troutsky! What are some of the things that you learned about big league pitching when you were in Anaheim last year, and what adjustments do you feel are necessary before you're back for good?
Definitely a lot more movement on the pitches. You just have to think of it as the same game you've always been playing, just bigger and with more fans.
Mike: Were you a Phillies fan growing up and if so how many games a year did you attend?
I was definitely a Phillies fan. I managed to get to a couple a year -- I was about fifty minutes from Philly.
Mike What was the biggest challenge for you last year as a rookie?
Just going out there and seeing some big league pitching first-hand. I didn't know what to expect when I first got there. This year, it's definitely a confidence-booster. I know some of the guys, so it's easier, especially Torii Hunter.
Mike, favorite big league experience, so far? Was it your first career HR in front of your family?
It definitely was. I hit it, and I knew I hit it well. It was one of the things where when I hit home plate, I looked up at my family and all the fans, and it was a feeling you just can't explain.
Who was the toughest pitcher you faced last year? Thanks huge Angel fan since 79 ....
Probably Gio Gonzalez. He got me out quite a few times.
What weakness do you think you need to improve on most in this coming season?
I can work on a lot of things defensively, going after the ball more and making accurate throws. Just little things like that.
Mike, what did you learn during your brief call-up? What sort of advice did Wells, Torii or the other vets give you?
I learned probably more getting actual playing experience, but those guys gave me a lot of little tips they've learned over the course of the year. All those guys have been there for me the entire time.
Mike- What makes you such a consistent player?
I just like to compete. I'm out there having fun. There's not a time of the day when I'm not having fun on the field.
Did hitting coach Mickey Hatcher tell you to be more aggressive and less patient while you were with the big club?
A little bit. My game since I was in the minors was to try to get a good count, but they tag you with a fastball earlier in the big leagues. I don't want to change it too much, but there might be some different changes. You never know.
Thanks for the questions. Have a good day!
