Lets start off hot! This week at the Honda Classic, pick who you want to win, and who you think will win.
Welcome. Let's get started.I want Robert Allenby to redeem his bitter defeat from Mayakoba with a win this week. But I think Rory McIlroy will win and take over No. 1 in the world.
Y.E. Yang seems to like the Honda Classic. Any chance he wins it again this year?
A second and a win in four starts. You have to like his chances.
Thanks for chatting. What's your take on Sang-Moon Bae - does he have the disposition to be a great player for a long time, cause he's sure got the swing?
Lots of these kids have beautiful golf swings. He's a proven winner in Asia. But I watched him some at the Match Play and his swing got very loose under pressure, especially with his irons.
Tiger Woods obviously has a problem with putting, should he go back to the Scotty Cameron? Maybe re-hire Butch? Or start practicing more?
His dad was his best putting coach. Butch was his full swing guy and Tiger never stops working on his putting, whether it the look and feel of the putter or practice. He's doing all the right things in terms of putting, except for the mental side.
What odds you giving Rory to win after a 6 round week recently? Think Tiger finishes top 10?
I don't like his odds. Rory is tired but I think he will play well. Tiger is swinging well enough to win. But I'm not sure about the putting.
Whats the weather forecast look like this week for the Honda Classic, and is it gonna demand precise control of the ball?
It's been wet down there but the course setup is so hard that it doesn't matter what Mother Nature does. There is always a premium on ball control on the PGA Tour.
Tiger has had to work on so much of his game over the past two years. Now that his off the tee play and short irons are coming around, in my opinion, it is only a matter of time before the putting game is perfected. Do you think the mental part of putting will come back quickly for him? I think that working on the other parts of his game did not allow him to prepare mentally for his putting.
Every great player has struggled with their putting. We're seeming Tiger go through all the changes that a golfer goes through during his lifetime on tour.Still I don't think he has fully accepted that he has lost some mental acuity with his putting.
Y.E Yang has done exceptionally well here the past two years. Are the odds not stacked his way?
Yang should continue to play well at the Honda Classic, based on his past record.
What's up with Collins picking Danny Lee to win this week and then saying that it was his bad and that he didn't realize he had WD'd from the tourny which is also not true??
Couldn't tell you.
Is the only thing holding Dustin Johnson back from being dominant his short game? Or is there more refining to his game needed? Mental aspect of it maybe? Pretty sure he outdrives me with his 6-iron...
Jared,D.J. could care less about being dominant. He wants to have a long career and make a lot of money, but he's not at all compromising his breezy brain activity to worry about the mental side of what he's doing.
Lefty is playing this week right? (no pun intended) If he is, he's been dominant in 2012. See him going strong again this week?
No Phil this week in the field.
Farrell:I just watched the clip on ESPN with Tiger getting a little testy...it seems like when he said "have a nice day" right at the end of the clip that his eyes were "wet" and thre was a catch in his voice as if he was about to cry...am I crazy or is that what you noticed too...honestly I don't know how he is going to handle this scrutiny and the Masters is just going to be a horror show...
Tiger is probably still a wreck from his divorce. But he can't sit home and sulk. He has a job to do.
Two questions about belly putters..1) Do you think they should be banned. 2) Do you think Tiger has had one secretly Fed-exed to his mansion and is trying out on a daily basis?
Belly putters have been legal too long to go after them at this point. Tiger wouldn't use one but he doesn't mind taking the driver technology.
How close his Tiger to a victory? Could you see it happening this weekend? Will he beable to correct some of his issues and return to his winning way this year?
Tiger can win any week that he plays. It's just matter of the putts dropping. He's always been able to get it done with less than perfect ball striking.
If you could hand-pick the final group at Augusta this year, who would it be and why? Tiger/Phil would obviously drive ratings and be great golf, but maybe you throw Rory in there for redemption on last years let down?
Rory and Tiger.
Is taking advantage of holes 1,3 and 4 key to victory this week?
No, making it through the Bear Trap even par or better.
If Tiger does win, will he stop winning?
You mean complaining? He'll never stop doing that.
Who wins a Major first in 2012. Luke Donald, Rory MC, TW, or Lefty?
Your opinion on Haney's book? Right or wrong? Confidentiality of coach to player? Personally I feel it's all about money and sabotage.. A week before The Masters. That's weak Hank...
Tiger made Hank famous and rich. The book is another way to capitalize off of their former business relationship.
what's your handicap too by the way?
I play Bethpage Black, where I can shoot a 100 if the wind is howling. But if I play a typical golf course I might shoot 75 on occasion.
If you could caddie for one player in one tournament. Who would it be and where?
Tiger Woods at Augusta.
Whats your opinion on anchor putters? I agree with banning them for PGA events. Agree or Disagree?
The USGA has left technology get out of hand. It shouldn't use putters as an escape goat.
Does anyone on tour use a round putter grip?
I'm not sure.
Does golf have anything to replace the Tiger/Phil rivalry in the near future? Sure looked like Rory/Westwood could try to?
Jared,The Tiger/Phil rivalry never really materialized. The Rory/Westwood thing is too personal to qualify as a golf rivalry.
You have one round at Augusta, Pick your 3 playing partners and your caddy.
Caddie would be Carl Jackson, players: Seve, Calvin Peete, Tiger
Sergio Garcia, best player to yet win a major?
Sergio had the most potential to win multiple majors at a young age. But he's past that point now.
Has anyone asked Tiger why he went away from his Cameron putter and stuck with this Nike one?
Jonathan,Nike wants Tiger to use all 14 Nike clubs. They built him one that he feels comfortable using.
Favorite old time player?
Favorite old time player: Gene Littler.
Honda Classic sets up for what style of golfer? (fader, drawer, shortgame, bomber, good long iron game, etc)
All of the above. You will need every shot in the bag to play well there. Yet you don't have to be a bomber to win. Look at Y.E. Yang.
Is Tiger still Golfs biggest mystery? Besides the 2009 incident, He has always been very private.
Tiger is a little better with the media since all that happened. He does tell us when he's got the kids.
Think Michael Jordan could of had a decent career in golf if he didn't play basketball or baseball?
No way. Mike isn't very good. He loves the competition.
Who is the Best Golfer on the PGA & the LPGA Tour in 2012?
Chris,I can never adequately answer your questions. And i'm not going to start trying now. You tell me? Yani Tseng is the best ladies golfer. But the men's game is too rich with talent to pick just one player.
Speaking of Tiger's kids, Think one of them will go pro?
Think Tony Romo will play Professional Golf one day?
Tony should concentrate on football. I have never seen a guy so beloved by a team and an owner without so much as an NFC championship game under his belt.
Best golf you've seen in a while from Lefty these past few weeks?
Would golf be miserable to watch if they banned all new technology and went back to what they were playing with in the 60's?
Jared,The guys with the most talent would stand out if they scaled back the equipment technology.
What do you think about Charl Schwartzel this week?
Charl had a 14th here last year so he likes the course. He's a good player. He should play well again.
Does Tigers putting woes have anything to do swith Stevie, one of the best put reading caddies, not on his bag?
Aaron you might be on to something. La Cava doesn't read many putts for Tiger.
Good afternoon Farrell. Do you think Phil will have a good year this or wil it be aother one of those years where he wins one or two tournaments early then disappears the rest of the season?
Phil is never going to concentrate for a whole season. He'll have flashes of brilliance then disappear.
Do you think Tiger has asked La Cava not to read putts for him until he gets more comfortable with him?
La Cava comes in when asked to assist on lines. But he's not as active in the process as steve was...
If you were to put Tiger in Jack's era and Jack in Tiger's era, do you think we see "similar" results? Or does tiger cleanhouse and come away with 20+ majors? And would Jack just be competitive these days or dominant you think?
It's impossible to say. What make jack so dominant is now commonplace on the PGA Tour. But they would both be dominant in Jack's era.
Farrell, I'd like to see Tiger playing with a smile on his face again. Think that after TW gets his first tour victory he'll be able to let the world off his chest and begin enjoying the game again?
Nope. Happiness is not what he cares about. He wants to win golf tournaments. That's all that he's done since he was five-years-old.
Farrell,Just wanted to let you know I am free the next time you get a tee time at Bethpage Black...
It's always at the last minute.
Got an idea of who hits the most and least amount of balls on the range before a round?
Least amount would go to Bubba Watson. I'm not sure about the most....
Farrell, where's Chris today??? Talk a little about J.B. Holmes if would, please. What a great story, and I'm glad to see him playing well this early in his comeback. Would seem like he can play this course well, so I'm hoping he's up there come Sunday. Thanks.
J.B. is a wonderful natural golfer. He's been a bit of a head case, but he's maturing. He's trying to play faster, which is helping his decision process on the course.
What are you thoughts on the "Golf Boys?" Good for the game? Bad? Who cares?
I love the Golf Boys. The choreography is good and the singing is fair. Ben Crane is the star.
Will we at least get a Tiger fist pump like the old days? Phil and Keegan's fist pump's at Riviera were impressive.
Yes. The fist pump is in Tiger's DNA.
This book by Haney is now going to dominate the press conferences and take the focus away from the golf and tournaments. Is anyone going to sleep any better or worse at night knowing if Tiger considered the Navy Seals?? It means absolutely nothing. Where he's been focusing on his game and his thoughts about the course, that's more interesting to me.
I don't believe the Navy seals bit. I have never known Tiger to be a great swimmer or an outdoors type guy. It seems like a child's fantasy more than something that is a realistic goal. Maybe they had had a few when he told Hank that story.
Farrell, how do you feel about Jack Nicklaus encouraging 12 hole golf? I feel this would be great for public courses, where you would not be playing 5 hour rounds and would also give those courses time to "heal" holes in the summer.
I hate it. That's like shortening the lines so that people can bowl more easily. People should learn the game the way he did not in some carnival atmosphere.
Speaking of having a few, who would be the most fun on tour to do that with after playing a round with them?
Matt Kuchar, Spencer Levin...
how does rickie fowlers chances look
No chance. Look at his stats.
Am I the only one who thinks Tiger would never stand a chance at being a Navy Seal? Your dad being a Green Beret doesn't make you a Seal and running 4 miles in boots really isn't that big of a deal.
I side with Tiger in his reaction to Haney's book. Basically it's a book about Tiger, that Haney is making money on without the consent of Tiger. Least he could do is donate a good portion to Tiger's charity. What do you think? And I'm a Phil fan!!!!!
Hank is making more money off Tiger's back.
Hi Farrell! How do you think Lefty will come out and play having took last weekend off? Do you think the week of rest disrupts the groove he is in, or helps him maintain the level he's been playing at?
Lefty needs to play to stay sharp.
Do you feel "The Bear Trap" will decide the winner or loser in the final round this week?
The Bear Trap will determine the winner of the Honda Classic.
My time is up. I'll see you next week from Doral.
