Hi. What an amazing day! Lots of trade deadline stuff, and the Mavs trying to continue turning the ship around as they take on the Bobcats. Lets get to it

MoonRockRussell (mansfield, TX)

If the Mavs get DWill, what can they surround he and Dirk with? Can't overpay for a center (Tyson backlash). Is there a wing out there to compliment them?

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:04 PM)

You never know who is going to come open. You are right though, they probably won't be able to spend a lot.

BK (Work)

Coop i know he has been a bit of a head case but seems to have matured a bit since going to minn. and i think that michael beasley would be a good back up to shawn marion i love his natrual scoring ability and he could help take some slack off dirk and jet plus hes atheltic and big something besides b wright we dont have. Thoughts??

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:06 PM)

Don't know how much Beasley has matured. Lakers kicked the tires, but obviously backed off on it. But yes, he can score.

Chief (Atlanta, GA)

It seems that Cuban already throwed in the white towel before this season started by "projecting" that he'll landing the big FA's available. What makes this year different from the previous yaers that nothing materialized about acquiring top FA's coming to Dallas?

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:06 PM)

For the first time, he's got real cap space to work with. Has never had it before

Marc (Spain)

Deron is a lock in Dallas?

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:07 PM)

Nothing is a lock, but you have to believe the odds are improving with Howard's decision. Only thing that could hold it up is if Orlando trades Dwight to NJ before July 1

Clayton (wichita falls tx)

Hello chuck in was wondering if u think the mavericks can make a push in the standings and do u think this mavs team the way it is can make a serious push in the playoffs

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:10 PM)

I do think they're capable of moving up. In fact, I fully expect it. The schedule is daunting for sure, but they had pretty daunting scvheudle in February and won seven of nine. They're going to get West back soon, and their team will finally be together. With a more normal spacing of games, they should be able to settle down and actually start playing well.

G (Fort Worth)

Chuck! With all the Mavs up for free agency, it?s easy to forget Rick Carlisle is also in his last yr under contract. Have there been talks about extending his deal or is he ?auditioning? as well? (I hear there's a job vacancy in New York) Is there a possibility he goes to another team? Where does his future stand as the head coach for the Mavericks?

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:18 PM)

It's a great question and one I have wondered about quite a bit. When I have asked about it, the response has always been, "Don't worry" Well, until everything is done, I worry. He's the best coach this franchise has ever had. I have to believe Mark will take care of it. His realtionship with Rick is much better than it was with either Nellie or Avery

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:19 PM)

Sorry. Tech issues. We're back

Peter (Dallas)

Should of kept Tyson for 10mill or so a year and still get Deron this Summer and have a few players we could keep.

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:20 PM)

Since Tyson got $14 million from NY, $10 million wasn't going to cut it

sahar (israel)

Why did Nets trade for Wallace if he has player option for next year worth about 10 million? Great for the Mavs!!

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:21 PM)

Nets want to put him into a deal for Dwight

Jordan (Garland,tx)

Why dont they start Roddy B instead of vince carter ? I mean he old vince could be that spark off the bench .Also will Lamar Odom ever come around this season?

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:22 PM)

Mavs advanced metrics show the best 5 man unit is the one with Carter as a starter. Carter's +/- is among the best on the team.

Joe (Flower Mound Tx)

Coop. If the Mavs can get D-Will does that mean this team gets striped down to nothing next year? Also what does this team look like moving forward?

Jorge (Dallas)

Where will Odom be by the end of today?

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:23 PM)

Right where he's been all season. Here

Robert (Dallas, TX)

Had we been able to look into a crystal ball, do you think Cuban would have signed Tyson had this possibility of D12's loyalty to Orlando might mean him not signing in Dallas?

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:25 PM)

Might have made him think a little more, but in the end, I don't think he thought paying Chandler as your 2nd or 3rd best player was worth it. especially in the latter years of the contract. Remember, Cuban is thinking as much about four years from now as he is next year

Eric (Dallas, TX)

Now that we know that Howard is gonna stay committed to the Magic and the Mavs chances are improving in landing Deron Williams in the summer what do the Mavs now have to do to boost this team. Do they resign Jason Terry and Jason Kidd or should they go after another big free agent. Also does this mean that maybe in 2013 Dwight Howard can still land in Dallas?

Jorge (Dallas)

What is your take on the Laker's moves today?

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:27 PM)

They can re-sign both players, but at way reduced prices. Something that Kidd might accept. But JET almost assuredly will not

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:28 PM)

Like Sessions a lot. Be interesting to see how he and Kobe get along since they both need the ball. Also, Fisher and Kobe are so tight, be interesting to see how the chemistry is affected

Scot (AZ)

With the games coming at a slower pace, do you think the Mavs can find some consistency on the offensive end?

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:29 PM)

That is most assuredly the goal. Tuesday night vs Washington was a good start. But it's going to be a work in progress to the end of the season.

Chuck Cooperstein
  (4:30 PM)

Tech isues are getting us today. Many apologies. We'll try to do it again full bore next week
