Greetings from the Superdome! Not entirely sure what just happened at the end of that game but let's try and make sense of it together, shall we?
They should have let Craft's missed free throw play out. It was a heads up play by him to shoot it quick and I just feel a great game could have ended better than it did.
The dreaded lane violation call struck again. I'm not sure a single player has had the same impact on this tournament than that call. It's disappointing such a close game had to end that way. It's also unfortunate that the Buckeyes didn't even try and foul in the last 2.4 seconds there. Everyone seemed shocked at the previous call and couldn't get it together. Tough, tough loss for OSU. And for Sullinger's draft stock...
what happen with the inbound pass at the end of the game?
I really have no idea. Apparently OSU wasn't ready for it. I think they assumed Matta was going to try and argue that lane violation call so they didn't realize the whistle was about to blow. That's my best guess. That was like watching a deer in the headlights. They have plenty of time to think about it now.
Holy cow my sports life is crazy right now. With manning to Denver and my messed up bracket that had duke losing to UNC in the title.but nnow its Kansas and Kentucky
game was great but the ending was lackluster
I'm not sure if lackluster is the right word choice. Baffling or bizarre might be better. I was hoping we would have our first buzzer beater but it wasn't meant to be. That selfish lane violation needed more air time.
Biggest game of sullingers career and he goes 5-19 overrrrrrrated?
Always can count on Rama for good insight. While the whole team may have lost tonight, Sullinger and his draft stock were the day's biggest loser. No question. He had 13 points, 11 rebounds but down the stretch, he was virtually a non-factor. Had hoped for a much better showdown between him and T-Rob.
UK will dominate Kansas
Ohio State and Kansas were just fighting for the honor of getting routed by Kentucky on Monday. It really could be a blowout. KU can't have that kind of slow start againat UK.
Keith 2-0. Maine 1-1
Congrats Keith, you did go 2-0 on the night. My prediction looked strong for 36 minutes of the game however. So there's that.
Can you believe it
Here's a fun fact for all you Rock Chalkers out there, Kansas has outscored its opponents 34-11 in transition in the last five minutes in the tournament, including 9-2 tonight.
Whata the biggest story line of the tournament? I'm still going with Syracuse losing fab melo, but will accept the 2 15 seeds winning or the lack of a single buzzer beater
I would love to say Lehigh and Norfolk State were the biggest storyline of the tourney but as they both only won one game, I'm not sure that really constitutes as a storyline. Had either of them won their next game, then maybe. Kentucky's dominance has to be right up there. Sadly the officiating, whather justified or otherwise, has to be in the conversation as well.
What time is the game monday night?
The official start time is 9:23 PM EST on CBS. One day I'll understand start times like 9:23. But it won't be today. What's wrong with 9:30?
If/When Kentucky wins, what's the over/under on the number of years before they get busted for cheating?
A Calipari win vacated? I don't believe it. Will be entertaining to see a blank space in the spot for 2012 National Champion in the NCAA record books.
what do you make of what's going on in lexington tonight?
Great question, John. I'm all for displays of fandom but this is just kind of pathetic. Can you imagine what they'll do if UK wins it all? I'm scared just thinking about it. And what the heck did these poor couches do to deserve this?
What's wrong with 7 o'clock? I have school
Ask California. A 9-ish start time maximizes viewers in all parts of the country. I think the NCAA should have the Championship game on Sunday afternoon so this isn't an issue. But I have the clout of a grapefruit so don't expect that to happen anytime soon.
Have you seen any fights between uk ul fans
I haven't. But I'm staying on Bourbon Street so I would bet my life savings I will at some point tonight.
Don't think final will be much of a contest, not enough firepower for kansas to match kentucky.
I think the best-case scenario for Kansas is this being like their first matchup of the year with Kentucky. They managed to play a great first half and take a tie into the break. Then Kentucky opened the second half with an 11-point run and Kansas never really had a chance. The final score was 75-65. The scary part of this for Kansas is that Kentucky had only been together for about two weeks at that point. They are capable of so much more now.
Kansas is going to do the do the same thing they did to Purdue, UNC and now Ohio State.....hang around until the end then win thanks to refs calls and free throws
I don't think they are going to be in the same position on Monday as they were in those examples. To win in the end from line would mean they have to be within striking distance in the final minutes. I don't see that happening.
Kansas falls behind by 10-15 like they have last 3 games and it is all over but the crying
Agreed. Could end up being Rock Balk Jayhawk on Monday.
You going out to have a few cocktails after the chat?
If slightly concerned UK fans are going to start lighting Bourbon Street on fire. But I guess as a reporter(-ish), it's basically my job to witness that first hand, right? Just humor me here.
Am I a bad person for laughing like a maniac while watching Ohio State fans suffer?
I know you're a diehard Cincy fan, Leiter. You are excused. I do that everytime Duke loses. It feels great.
have any odds for mon been posted yet?
I think the first odds were posted within 30 seconds of Aaron Craft falling to floor in agony. Kentucky opened at 5-point favorites but that quickly rose and it seems now they are at 6.5. Wouldn't be surprised if that went up again by Monday night.
Bow to the brow!
Your 2012 Wooden Award winner everybody! Making unibrowers all over the world proud. I'm still holding out hope someone will buy him a pair of tweezers before the NBA Draft...
But I think answering questions from ficitonal facial hair is probably my cue to get out of here and do some, um, research on Bourbon Street. Thanks for joining me tonight and hope to see you on Monday!
