Chat with Dan Graziano

Dan Graziano
  (12:00 PM)

Greetings. Happy to take your questions, if you can peel yourself away from the new uniform announcement.

brian (nyc)

What are the cowboys draft needs?

Dan Graziano
  (12:02 PM)

From my standpoint, Brian, it's defense, defense, defense. If I'm the Cowboys, I'm taking the best defensive player on the board at 14 -- cornerback, safety, linebacker, lineman, whatever he is. And I don't think they'd be crazy to stick with defense right on through the third round. They need to add quality and depth at multiple positions on defense. They got off to a nice start in free agency, but much more must be done to improve over last year.

mtgates (San Diego)

Have you seen the new uniforms? Are they anything worth talking about?

Dan Graziano
  (12:02 PM)

I will have a post on this early this afternoon. But as the unveiling has inconsiderately coincided with our chat, I have yet to examine them. I welcome your thoughts.

Dan (Washington, DC)

I wouldn't be surprised to see a settlement in the cap penalties before it goes to Arbitration. Would you? (Psst. But don't tell Giants fans. We hate them, remember?)

Dan Graziano
  (12:03 PM)

I wouldn't be surprised either way. Lots of bitterness on both sides of this, but it's in Goodell's best interest, I think, to broker a settlement.

Dr. H. Doofenshmirtz (Tri-State Area)

Will the Redskins maybe end up keeping Chris Cooley? Honestly thought he'd be released by now.

Dan Graziano
  (12:03 PM)

No, they like him. Still think they might need to restructure his deal to keep him, but I imagine he'd be amenable to that.

Chris (Giants Land, NJ)

How excited are you for the new Nike jerseys? Tempered at all by flagrant free trade violations?

Dan Graziano
  (12:04 PM)

I am not, personally, excited. But I understand that my readers are, so I shall, as I said, write about it.

Shawn (Working through lunch)

How come Goff still hasn't resigned? Are the Giants just tossing too low of a number or is he asking way too much for someone coming off a major injury?

Dan Graziano
  (12:04 PM)

I think he wants to see what the open market will bring, and they're willing to let him see. Free agency isn't something guys get to do all the time. Some of them want to experience it to the fullest.

Vince (Jersey City)

Any chance that Jonathan Stewart is a Giant? If not, who are the most likely candidates?

Dan Graziano
  (12:05 PM)

Panthers say they're not trading Stewart. The Giants will let the market settle and see which established back wants to play for them for their preferred price and doesn't mind a time-share role. Some people have suggested Cedric Benson, who's a good fit physically but chafed at the timeshare situation in Cincinnati.

Matt (L.A.)

Dan, great work here, especially given your pineapple disposition. Given Jerry Reese's stradegy of BPA, if the following players are still on the board at 32, who do the Giants select and why? Coby Fleener, Cordy Glenn, Mike Adams, or Chandler Jones. My heart says Glenn or Fleener, but my mind say Chandler Jones. He seems like a quintessential Reese pick. Long, athletic DE with tons of upside. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Dan Graziano
  (12:07 PM)

I agree about Jones looking like a typical Giants pick. Raw pass rusher with upside, comes from Coughlin's alma mater. Just really feels like the kind of guy they love to take. And they very well may. But given your list, I'd have to say Glenn would be the pick if available. Maybe higher on the BPA than Jones anyway, and he also fills an immediate need at tackle. I feel the same way about Adams, which was my Giants pick in the blogger mock draft with Glenn off the board and Jones still on it.

Josh (Matawan, NJ)

Hey Dan. What do I make of RGIII not wanting to work out for the Colts? Resigned to going #2 or prefers the Skins or something else?

Dan Graziano
  (12:07 PM)

More overblown draft hype. Griffin declined all offers of private workouts. Wanted everyone to come to Baylor pro day so his teammates could get some attention too.

Mr. W (Dallas)

Kinda long...McNabb (on First Take) basically said that RG3 and the skins wouldn't be a good fit. Is he just mad cuz he didn't work out there or is there validity? Also Who would you perfer? Luck or RG3?

Dan Graziano
  (12:08 PM)

That was pure sour grapes, Mr W. McNabb is off base and should have been challenged more directly about his claims, which were clearly the result of a personal grudge.

Corey (NY)

Dan, after Jason Peters going down, do you think the Eagles will look to free agency for his replacement, or change up their draft strategy and take a LT in the first round?

Dan Graziano
  (12:08 PM)

I think free agency is their first choice, and that their second choice is to draft someone, but not in the first round.

Chris (Giants Land, NJ)

How remarkable is Ahmad Bradshaw's toughness? They guy is like a tank.

Dan Graziano
  (12:09 PM)

Bradshaw is a player Giants fans should really feel proud of. There's nothing not to like about him except that he can't play more.

Cornell (NC)

Has Jarvis Jenkins fully recovered yet?

Dan Graziano
  (12:09 PM)

I believe Jenkins is on track to participate in the offseason program. Redskins have high hopes for him in 2012.

Hampton (Scranton)

We have all read the options on replacing Peters, but what position that they were looking to add depth gets bypassed now?

Dan Graziano
  (12:10 PM)

I don't think any. They have a ton of cap room, and all they were looking for were backups and complementary pieces at safety, running back, d-line. They're in good shape other than the Peters thing, which is a very bad development.

Joe (New Jersey)

If Upshaw and Kirkpatrick are both available at 14, who do the Cowboys take?

Dan Graziano
  (12:10 PM)

I would think Upshaw, to help the pass rush.

GR (Brooklyn, NY)

Hey Dan,Just a thought....might the NFL go after the nearly decade-old bounty issues of the Redskins' teams under Gregg Williams in RETALIATION for the Redskins fighting the cap penalty? Would they use it as a tool to convince Snyder to put up with the penalty?

Dan Graziano
  (12:11 PM)

You know I'm no fan of the way the NFL does business, but I think that's a stretch even for them.

Danilo (Skins Nation)

Can you see Santana Moss getting released in order to get some cap relief?

Dan Graziano
  (12:11 PM)

Yes, but only if someone else in the WR corps shows the ability to handle that slot role. If they'd signed Eddie Royal, Moss' spot would be more shaky than it is right now. He's still more likely to make the team than not, but he'll have to show something in training camp.

Luke M. (New Brunswick, NJ)

Hey Dan, what do u think the odds r they don't resign Deon Grant with all their recent aquisitions in the 2ndary? He was favorite in the locker room but also the older safety on the roster.

Dan Graziano
  (12:12 PM)

Kind of like last year with Grant, Luke. The coaches love him. The players love him. They'd have him back but only at a certain price. If he's still around looking for work in training camp and wants to come back on a cheap one-year deal, they still have a spot for him as of now. But you can't blame a guy for wanting to see if he can cash in his Super Bowl title.

Mr. W (Dallas)

Your GM, who do you want? Luck or RG3 then?

Dan Graziano
  (12:13 PM)

Oh yeah. Second part of your question. Sorry. I think I'd take Griffin, based on what I've seen of both of them. But if I were in the Skins' position, knowing I was getting one of them, I wouldn't care which. And the Skins don't.

Dan (Washington, DC)

Speaking of McNabb -- curious he didn't list himself as a failed QB under Shanahan. Or why he failed just as badly in Minnesota and benched for Ponder...

Dan Graziano
  (12:13 PM)

Yeah. "Curious" is one word for it.

john (i should be working)

hey dan the man any chance of the skins landing d.bell

Dan Graziano
  (12:14 PM)

I think the Redskins remain in the mix for Demetrius Bell, though at this point I'd have to believe the Eagles would outbid them.

TimVB (DC)

Do you see Kuechly still being on the board for the Giants or Eagles?

Dan Graziano
  (12:15 PM)

No, it sounds like he's moving up toward that top 10. I think Yasinskas gave him to Carolina in our blogger mock.

I-Kim (HofstraU)

Dan, lets put you in a scenario where you get to make the decision of who to draft for the Giants. Who ya takin'?

Dan Graziano
  (12:15 PM)

You tell me the first 31 guys off the board, and I'll answer that question.

Matt (NY)

Do you think the Giants end up signing Quentin Groves?

Dan Graziano
  (12:16 PM)

No, I thought he signed somewhere else this morning. Am I wrong?

MJ (Long Island)

what do the Skins players think of Williams and Davis after the drug suspension, will they have a tough time winning back the teamates trust?

Dan Graziano
  (12:16 PM)

I think they'll be fine as long as they don't screw up again, in which case their teammates' trust will be the least of their problems.

Luke M. (New Brunswick, NJ)

Any thought on why the Gmen Vs. Cowgirls got picked first when the GB/NYG would be way more appealing being that both r last 2 champs and the division games are more interesting when they are in nov/dec/early jan?

Dan Graziano
  (12:17 PM)

Recent history shows that Cowboys-Giants always gets picked for prime time. The networks just can't get enough of that matchup.

Peter (Santa Barbara)

Dan do you think Orakpo will finally make the jump from very good to elite this year?

Dan Graziano
  (12:18 PM)

I don't always understand these designations. How many are "elite?" Five? Three? Ten? Orakpo's a stud, and if he plays at his current level for six more years he'll be viewed as an all-time stud.

Alex (Trumbull CT)

Hey Dan. Do you think that Both Luck and RG3 will end up becoming franchise QB's or is one of them going to wash out like Leaf?

Dan Graziano
  (12:19 PM)

There do not seem to be the character concerns with either of these guys that we saw with Leaf. The only questions are about their ability to handle the pro game, and those questions are present for anyone in the draft.

Bill (PA)

Dan, how do you feel the Redskins offense will change with RG3, if at all? It seemed like they got the run game going at the end of last year. Do you think they'll back off the run to show off their QB?

Dan Graziano
  (12:20 PM)

No, if anything they'd lean more on the run to take as much pressure as possible off their rookie QB as he adjusted to the pros. But I think the passing game will be more dynamic this year, as they've upgraded their athleticism at WR and obviousy at QB.

Jon (Syracuse, NY)

too many redskins questions today huh?

Dan Graziano
  (12:20 PM)

There are always more Redskins questions than any other team. Every week.

jake (arkansas)

Although I like Garret and I agree he's not going anywhere for a while, what if this new crop of lineman come in and Romo is running for his life again this year, think his seat will get hotter?

Dan Graziano
  (12:21 PM)

Hotter, sure, but Garrett's got as much 2012 job security as any coach in the league. Jerry's invested in his success.

cbarrett (North Cackalacky)

Dan,Shouldn't Orakpo concentrate on getting sacks in his own division to be classified as a "stud"? Ware gets held, trip and receives cheap shots just as often and still delivers.

Dan Graziano
  (12:21 PM)

Well, you can certainly be a stud and still not be as good as Ware.

Jason (NY)

Any news about Umenyiora? Do you think they will keep him or trade him?

Dan Graziano
  (12:22 PM)

At this point, I'm inclined to think they keep him and maybe even extend him. That Super Bowl run seems to have washed away a lot of hard feelings. Still, if someone comes with the right offer at draft time, you can't rule out a trade.

Tim (Cincinnati)

Hey Dan. Any chance the Eagles trade up ahead of Buffalo to draft Reiff? I know trading up to 2 for Kalil is a little steep...

Dan Graziano
  (12:22 PM)

I would be surprised if they traded up to take a tackle in the first round. The Eagles believe they can find starting linemen later in the draft.

Jay Philly [via mobile]

Do you think the Redskins free agent signings will help alleviate the loss of the draft picks?

Dan Graziano
  (12:23 PM)

Sure. And they do still have seven picks. Where the trade hurts is in the first round next year and the year after.

Dan Graziano
  (12:23 PM)

But they won't care if Griffin turns out to be what they expect.

Josh (Matawan, NJ)

Redskins questions becasue the fans are excited. And it's about time. Hopefully we're still excited around week 10. Speaking of, will the Skins be contending for a playoff spot this year?

Dan Graziano
  (12:25 PM)

I'm not complaining, or making any kind of judgment, really. Just stating a fact. I get more chat questions, mailbag submissions, Twitter questions, story comments on Redskins than on any other team. They have the most intensely passionate and loyal fan base of any team I've ever covered, and that's no knock on any other fans.

Ben (Virginia)

Is espn.com going to post the full Jon Gruden QB Camp with RG3? I missed it on Sportscenter...

Dan Graziano
  (12:25 PM)

It will air 29 more times between now and the draft. Search your DVR and you will find it.

Steve (Bristol)

If you're Griffin, what's the better situation? Selected 1 overall and go to a complete rebuild project with a little more money, or 2 and go to a defense with a good D and decent offense?

Dan Graziano
  (12:26 PM)

I actually think Washington is the better situation right now than Indianapolis.

Mark (Bellefonte, PA)

Are the Eagles concerned about Jason Peters long term? If so, would they be looking for more than a one year replacement?

Dan Graziano
  (12:27 PM)

It's a good question. They say they're not, but that is a bad injury, and some people don't come back from it. If you see them maneuvering in the first round of the draft to take one of the top tackles, maybe that's a sign that they're more worried than they let on. As of now, though, nothing I've heard indicates a concern beyond 2012.

Ben (Philly)

Dan - whats up with the Eagles interest in Tannenhill (sp)? Is it really worth it to trade up for a guy whe you just gave Vick the multi year? Do they just see him as a guy to groom and start in 2-3 years?

Dan Graziano
  (12:27 PM)

I think they're just taking advantage of a chance to meet and learn something about an interesting quarterback prospect. You never know what happens down the road.

Jake (Millenium Falcon)

Is Dion Lewis a serviceable backup for Shady or are we going to see the Eagles try and pick someone up?

Dan Graziano
  (12:28 PM)

I like Lewis, but I'm not sold on him as a viable 2012 backup for McCoy. And I don't think the Eagles are either. They'll get someone else. Plenty of RBs still available.

Chris (DC)

Opposing report of RG3 declining all private workout requests: Washington Post says RG3 is scheduled to visit Redskins later this month. Or is it? Can draft prospects visit teams and not have to work them out?

Dan Graziano
  (12:28 PM)

Sure. You can go and just talk.

Mike (New Lisbon)

I heard the skins are high on a corner from vanderbilt, how true is that? They say this guys a ball hawk and the 10th best cb in the draft.

Dan Graziano
  (12:30 PM)

It would make sense. I believe their second pick will be either a cornerback or an offensive lineman.

Scott (Giant's Country)

How similar are the positions of the Giants and Eagles? They both need long term help at Line backer defensive back, and running back (depth at least). Both OLs have their flaws (albeit young for eagles, and old for giants). But they had remarable different seasons last year? Luck or something intangible?

Dan Graziano
  (12:31 PM)

Well, the Giants certainly got better quarterback play. And their secondary, which looked questionable going in, played better than did the Eagles' secondary. And they managed to plug the holes at LB better. I don't think it's intangible, but it's worth remembering the Giants only won one more game in the regular season than the Eagles did.

Mike (New Lisbon)

What's the lastest on London Fletcher? He's the heart of our D.

Dan Graziano
  (12:31 PM)

Holding pattern on that one. Everyone seems to think they'll eventually sign him, but the LB market has been stuck in the mud.

Vince (Lancaster, PA)

Watkins and Kelce became two solid pieces in the Eagles OL last year with a very short offseason (even moreso for Watkins). Do you think Mudd will continue this trend and find a Tackle in the draft, whether it is in the first round or the 6th like Kelce?

Dan Graziano
  (12:32 PM)

I think that possibility is one reason the Eagles aren't panicking.

Scott (Giant's Country)

So happy you responded to my first questions, you usually just ignore them and then write entire articles about them during the rest of the week and take all my credit :(. Thank though

Dan Graziano
  (12:32 PM)

*sigh*

Jason (Westfield)

You don't think the difference is intangible? I could have swore you wrote a few times last season that the biggest difference between the Giants and Eagles was the Giants' heart.

Dan Graziano
  (12:33 PM)

I think that's part of it. But the Giants had times last year when that heart wasn't doing the trick, right? In the end, I think the biggest difference was Eli Manning.

Ben (Philly)

Think Jacobs is done in SF? I always thought he was overrated and also a jerk.

Dan Graziano
  (12:33 PM)

Done? He just got there!

Jon (Syracuse, NY)

or probably the giants ate some more pineapples over the eagles?

Dan Graziano
  (12:34 PM)

Never underestimate the pineapple factor.

Coach Gruden (FFCA World Headquarters)

ESPNU is running several of the QB Camps back-to-back on Monday night, April 16.

Dan Graziano
  (12:34 PM)

Thanks. Griffin's is also on, I believe, at 3:30 pm on Saturday and 2:30 pm on Sunday.

Dennis (IL)

When will this NCAA title by coach cal be vacated?

Dan Graziano
  (12:34 PM)

Dennis, saying what everyone's thinking. Sad.

Ben (Philly)

Done as in hes not going to do anything.

Dan Graziano
  (12:35 PM)

I think the San Francisco coach is a pretty smart coach who will find a way to use Jacobs productively.

Mark (Bellefonte, PA)

Here's an article idea: "Scott from Giant's Country's over-valued self-worth"

Dan Graziano
  (12:35 PM)

ZING!

Erik Thomas (Woodstock, OH)

How was the golf in FLA? I'm jealous...

Dan Graziano
  (12:35 PM)

Wish I knew, Erik. Wish I knew. That was a work trip, ya see...

Aggie (TX)

Why would Dallas look to draft Barron when it just locked up Sensabaugh (also a SS) for 5 years?

Dan Graziano
  (12:36 PM)

Depth. They need depth.

Ben (Philly)

If you cover any sport/team, what would it be. Hoyas?

Dan Graziano
  (12:36 PM)

No! No way could I do that. I can't cover a sport if I care who wins. I'd be a wreck.

Brian (NYC)

How is it that the Eagles have signed a bunch of free agents over the last couple of years and yet have alot of cap room and the Giants are usually quiet and yet are up against the cap all the time?

Dan Graziano
  (12:37 PM)

Well, some teams manage the cap better than others do...

Brian (Va Beach)

Hey Dan, just wondering how many teams have you covered?

Dan Graziano
  (12:38 PM)

Marlins, Mets, Yankees as a beat writer. Two years as a national NFL writer and now this job, with these four.

dan (vermont)

or some teams draft better players

Dan Graziano
  (12:39 PM)

That is true as well. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.

Kevin (San Antonio)

We know you don't like to make predicitons, but how do you see the playoff situation for the Beast as of right now? 2 or 3 teams?

Dan Graziano
  (12:40 PM)

Yeah, I'm just going to refer the second part of what you said to the first part of what you said. And to the fact that it's April 3 and we don't know what the rosters look like yet. Sorry.

Jason (Westfield)

Playoff predictions come out 47 fridays from now

Dan Graziano
  (12:40 PM)

This guy!

JASON GARRETT (The palace (Cowboys Stadium))

SHOULD I EXPECT ANOTHER BIG YEAR FROM MURRAY OR SHOULD I MOVE UP IN THE DRAFT AND SELECT RICHARDSON???

Dan Graziano
  (12:41 PM)

Sssssh! No need to shout. Or to move up for Richardson. Murray looks great. Defense, defense, defense.

REALLY (...)

@Dan Graziano (12:38 PM)Marlins, Mets, Yankees as a beat writer. Two years as a national NFL writer and now this job, with these four.NO WONDER YOUR A GIANTS FAN!!! SHOULD OFF NOW!!

Dan Graziano
  (12:41 PM)

See, people really don't get it. Because I covered NY baseball teams for a newspaper doesn't mean I am or ever was a fan of those teams.

Aerolithe_Lion (Fargo, ND)

With the Tannehill talk, is there ANY position the Eagles could draft that would surprise you? Heck, I could see us trading up for Richardson!

Dan Graziano
  (12:42 PM)

The Eagles could do anything and it wouldn't qualify as a surprise. But some moves make more sense than others, and trading assets to move up to No. 3 or 4 to take a QB or a RB when you already have Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy... that seems like a foolish use of resources.

Joe (NYC)

Are you a Mets fan?? Saw your tweet regarding ticket offers... 75-87 sound right this year??

Dan Graziano
  (12:43 PM)

No, I get the ticket offers because we went and took the kids a few times last year. We go mainly because it's so much cheaper and more accessible than the Yankees games. As for predictions, I am sadly out of the baseball loop these days, as my poor performance in recent fantasy drafts can attest.

MJ (Long Island)

were you a Mets fan in 86? i was a sox fan....and that game was all Bob Stanly's fault..not Buckner

Dan Graziano
  (12:45 PM)

I never reveal my former allegiances, for fear that some will try to use them against me. However, I will say that I remember watching that game, and that yes, Buckner takes too much grief. Pen had already blown a two-run lead, and they led in Game 7 as well.

Aerolithe_Lion (Fargo, ND)

I think he covers NY teams because he lives near NY. Ask him why the Marlins.

Dan Graziano
  (12:45 PM)

That's where I got my start. As an intern and later a general assignment reporter and then a beat writer at The Palm Beach Post.

Matt K (Saratoga Springs NY)

Dan, I appreciate that you are alway a cool and level headed voice of reason. I honestly don't know how you do it sometimes. Inquiring minds want to know, what's your favorite kind of pie?

Dan Graziano
  (12:46 PM)

Blueberry. But we really should get back to football.

Chris (Giants Land, NJ)

I want Victor Cruz on the cover of Madden and I think talks of a curse are ridiculous. You think Cruz has a shot?

Dan Graziano
  (12:47 PM)

I think he's got a good shot, and I'm glad to know there are fans who support their favorite players and dismiss such things as "Madden curse" as silly.

Gordon (Pittsburgh)

Do you think the Redskins will draft a OG/T in the 4th and if so who do you forsee still being there for them?

Dan Graziano
  (12:47 PM)

As for specific names, I'd have to refer you to McShay on that. But I wouldn't be surprised if they went OL in the third round even.

Bill (PA)

Who's the starting running back for the Reskins next year?

Dan Graziano
  (12:48 PM)

I still think it's Tim Hightower.

Will Kelland` (New York City)

Can you please tell giants fans to stop pestering you about he draft. A) There is no way to predict until the draft who they are going to pick and B) It works considering we've won the superbowl twice in the last five years. Tell them to focus on interesting things, like what do you think happens with osi?

Dan Graziano
  (12:48 PM)

We took an Osi question earlier in the chat, right? I'm good with Giants fans. I don't know if they feel the same way about me, but not much I can do about that.

Al (Wausau, WI)

Dan, do you know yet if you'll be working in New York City for the NFL draft?

Dan Graziano
  (12:49 PM)

I do not. I think it's between that and D.C.

Dave (NY)

How much of an impact do you think Ryans will have on the Eagles this year?

Dan Graziano
  (12:49 PM)

I've written about this. I think the answer is "MASSIVE impact." As a tackler, as an on-field leader, as a locker room presence. Great, great get for them.

Ben (Virginia)

Isn't Tim Hightower a free agent?

Dan Graziano
  (12:49 PM)

Yes. They are attempting to re-sign him.

Aerolithe_Lion (Fargo, ND)

Dan, is it possible the single best player in the Beast went down with injury last week? Did you consider it in that context?

Dan Graziano
  (12:50 PM)

Yes. Peters is that good a player. I think he was the Eagles' best player last year (McCoy is the only one I think who'd have an argument).

Paul (Greenville, NC) [via mobile]

Do you have a favorite team in any sport other than the Hoyas?

Dan Graziano
  (12:50 PM)

No.

Matt K (Saratoga Springs NY)

Is Fletcher re-signing with the Skins pretty much a given considering the lack of interest from other teams?

Dan Graziano
  (12:51 PM)

Not a given, but it seems likely.

Vince (Lancaster, PA)

Do you consider your job "work"? I feel like I would have a blast doing what you do.

Dan Graziano
  (12:51 PM)

It is work. And it's a lot of work. But I do have a blast doing it. So that's good, right?

Joe (NYC)

Tyron Smith may be better LT than Peters in about 5 months...

Dan Graziano
  (12:51 PM)

Maybe. Smith is an incredible talent.

Dave (NY)

Here's a prediction - fallout from concussions will make the NFL unrecognizable within 10 years. Thoughts?

Dan Graziano
  (12:52 PM)

Yeah, I think you've articulated one of the league's greatest fears.

baldwin (trinity, fl)

what's the better news to you, anchorman 2 or dumb and dumber 2?

Dan Graziano
  (12:52 PM)

Anchorman, not even close. Much smarter comedy. I'm not a big "Dumb and Dumber" fan.

David (Charlotte)

The new Redskins uni's are exactly the same. So much hype for nothing!

Dan Graziano
  (12:53 PM)

Welcome to the NFL, David.

Scott (Giant's Country)

What was your final BEAST prediction record last year?

Dan Graziano
  (12:53 PM)

I said Eagles 12-4, they went 8-8. I said Cowboys 10-6, they went 8-8. I said Giants 8-8, they went 9-7. I said Skins 7-9, they went 5-11. So, not real good.

Dan (Washington, DC)

Why does Trent Williams get so little regard around here (aside from his recreational choices)?

Dan Graziano
  (12:54 PM)

No. 4 pick is a tough thing to live up to. Offensive line is a position where success and progress can be difficult to gauge. Trent arrived with some work-ethic questions and has done some things to feed into those.

Dave (NY)

When are you unveiling YOUR new uniform for this year? Maybe change up the ubiquitous blue polo in your video predictions?

Dan Graziano
  (12:55 PM)

I do need to dig up the old video mailbag, don't I?

baldwin (trinity, fl)

think desean will have huge year after getting all that contract nonsense behind him?

Dan Graziano
  (12:55 PM)

Uh... yeah. I think it's more likely that he plays well than that he doesn't. But I'd say I'm about 59 percent sure.

Tim (Cincinnati)

If the defense starts as bad as it did last year could you see Reid letting Castillo go mid-season?

Dan Graziano
  (12:55 PM)

No.

Dan Graziano
  (12:55 PM)

No.

How come crackbacks are now a flag? When I played football if you play special team or you're caught in the open field that you keep your head on a swivel. If you get cracked then that's on you

Yeah, yeah, yeah, and the games was better when they used leather helmets. I know. Kids today. Fact is, player safety is now a point of emphasis, like it or not, and it's not going to stop.

Dave (NY)

I know you don't do predictions, but...Sando v. Graziano v. Yasinskas in a no-holds barred steel cage match. Winner?

Dan Graziano
  (12:57 PM)

See I'd let those two beat each other up and then swoop in and take out the exhausted winner. Sando scares me though. He might be part robot. I really don't know when that guy sleeps.

Ben (Philly)

Whats your favorite iphone game?

Dan Graziano

Currently hooked on the Super Stick Man Golf.

Aerolithe_Lion (Fargo, ND)

I just watched the Beast mock draft video, Sando is a toothpick. You could definitely take him.

Dan Graziano
  (12:58 PM)

Don't be fooled. Sando is much bigger than I am.

After JPP's emergence and J. Williams promising rookie year, should the Giant's just draft the best available player from the University of South Florida?

Dan Graziano
  (12:58 PM)

Ha! Perhaps they have it all figured out.

Vince (Lancaster, PA)

Do you think Castillo had a fair shake with the fans last year? With a short offseason, new positional coaches and a new DL scheme, I thought he did fairly. Many Eagles fans seem to think otherwise.

Dan Graziano
  (12:59 PM)

Well, of course not. But coaches get judged on their records, and 8-8 was disappointing. Not Castillo's first rodeo. He can handle it.

Joe (NYC)

This Chat has run its course... Good day sir

Dan Graziano

Yeah, I agree. Time to return to my many leather-bound books. See ya next week.
