Thanks for all the questions, I am just about to get Paul on the line.
This is an exciting time as we prepare for our Signing Day Show tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU. Let's get to the questions.
Does Duke have any chance of getting Shabazz, and who else is comeing to Duke?
We got a guy from KY, asking about Duke? The Blue Devils are in the running for Shabazz but likely behind KY and UCLA. More than likely they have a better chance for Amile Jefferson.
Mick Cronnin has done a great job at UC. Will he ever be in the hunt however for big time recruits?
Pete, Mick Cronin has built a program and won with Yancy Gates, who was a top-20 players. Cronin and his staff do a good job of evaluating players and local big-time recruits -- like Yates -- will look there.
What is your thought about 3 of the top young men who have the Hoyas on their list that maybe 2 of them land with GU?
GTown has put themselves in a great spot to be there with Nerlens Noel, some people say he's leaning that way. They are also heavily involved with Pollard, who is going to visit there next week. Getting either one would be tremendous.
There is no way Kentucky gets Shabazz, Noel, and Bennett is there? I feel like Bennett is leaning elsewhere.
Yea way. The depth and power of KY puts them in a position to land all three. Shabazz and Nerlens are meeting with their families tonight and will decide tomorrow. Bennett is still deciding and KY actually has a need for all three with a lot of talent moving on.
Hey paul if duke lands shabazz are we a top 5 team
If they get Shabazz, they should have one of the top-10 or so classes and a contender for next year in the ACC and have one of the better perimeters in the conference.
If Texas Nabs Ridley and Pollard tomorrow on the Late signing period to go along with Kabongo. How good do you say they can be starting next season.
Ridley told me he's signing with Texas. Pollard is a week or so away from his decision. With Ridley, this class could contend for a Big 12 title. It will be a young but very deep team with this class coming in, whether they get Pollard or not.
Do you see Providence getting another recruit for next year?
Ed Cooley has done a tremendous job bringing in Big East level players. They are in the hunt for Chris Obekpa, who would be one of the better shot-blockers in the Big East. He is one of the best shot-blockers in the senior class behind Nerlens and Austin and right there with Ibeh. Get your season tickets for the Friars now.
What High School Basketball Players will Play for Syracuse in 2012?
Jerian Grant and Dajuan Coleman. Coleman will have an immediate impact if he can keep his stamina up and body fat down. He will demand double teams. Grant is a long versatile player with a solid offensive game. He will play the wing in the Orange's zone defense. Both could have a big impact next year. Not too mention they are still in the hunt for Nerlens.
Who is the most likely recruit duke gets out of tony parker amile jefferson and shabazz and is their any chance they get all 3
There is chatter that Jefferson is very fond of Duke's situation and is most likely. It's possible they get all 3 but Coach K might have a better chance of hitting the lottery.
Ok I know where you stand on the shot clocks in high school basketball, might I add very passionately stand. How about your thoughts on the NBA requiring players to play 1 year post-grad, how many years, if any, would you recommend they play?
There is no doubt about my position on the shot clock. We need a universal shot clock (45 seconds) which would benefit everyone. I would go with the baseball model of either being drafted out of high school or stay in college for three years. The truly gifted players should be able to come out right away. For the most part, everyone needs to stay in school and develop.
I hope Shabbaz goes to USC. He would be the next great thing when at other schools he will get little playing time.
His Dad played for USC. He will never play for USC. Sorry.
what are the chances Kentucky get Noel and Shabazz?
KY has been working on these two guys longer than anyone in the country, along with Anthony Bennett. It has been KY's goal to land all three but every one has been tight-lipped.
Paul, besides Shabazz Muhammad and Nerlens Noel, do you feel there are any likely "one and dones" in the class of 2012 that would be legitimate lottery prospects in the 2013 Draft?
Besides those two and a lot has to go right for these players but Baylor C Isaiah Austin has tremendous potential. Steven Adams at Pitt, Kyle Anderson at UCLA and Anthony Bennett also have a chance. They will need to develop in college and show they belong. But they have the tools to get it done.
Paul, your most likely scenarios for Bennett, Muhammad, and Noel are? Thanks
Bennett: Fla, Kentucky or UNLV. Muhammad: UCLA. Noel: Kentucky. I have no inside information. This is purely speculation based on need and what the recruits have said.
Will nerles Noel be better than Anthony Davis?
Fred, I don't believe so. Noel is an elite shot-blocker -- one of the best ever out of HS. He has offensive ability but nowhere near Davis. Plus, Davis is a better rebounder. I don't think Noel compares himself to Davis. They are just incredible shot-blockers.
Hello Paul, I know that Mizzou is a legitimate candidate for Pollard, but do you think his more recent vists to Alabama (last weekend) and Georgetown (This weekend) will cause him to lean that way because they are fresh on his mind? Ultimately, where do you believe he ends up?
He had a great visit at Bama recently and Texas is in there strong. He is also excited about Georgetown. I am going to say it comes down to Alabama and Georgetown for Pollard. Just a gut, but I have been wrong many times.
Knowing your history with the Buckeyes, do they have any chance at all to land PF Amile Jefferson? We are apparently in his fnal 5 but I havent heard anything about him to do with the Bucks.
Buckeyes need help in the frontcourt bad with Sullinger leaving. They could use Tony Parker or Amile Jefferson and they have a better shot with Parker.
How talented is steven adams and will he have a big impact?
Dear Aidan, I haven't seen many like Adams. He's a legit 7-footer who is surprisingly athletic and mobile with good skills inside 15 feet. Once Jamie Dixon gets a chance to coach him and teach him to use his body, his ceiling is extremely high.
How does Duke stand with Shabazz and Parker, and what about in 2013?
Duke has a legit shot at Shabazz and Parker. But if they don't get either one they are likely to get Amile Jefferson. They have made tremendous inroads in 2013 with Jabari Parker and Julius Randle and both are absolute difference-makers.
Do you think that Tony Parker will come to KU, follow Shabazz or non of the above?
There has been a lot of chatter that Parker will follow Shabazz to UCLA because of assistant coach Korey McCray -- a native from Atlanta who is on staff as the Bruins are trying to build a blockbuster class, along with Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams.
Can you talk a little bit about how Coach Roy Williams recruits? It seems as like he could go after the top guys every year (see Coach Calipari) but he sits back and chooses the specific guys he wants and goes after them. What goes into that process?
He is looking at needs, as well as character and is trying to evaluate guys who care about winning, have a strong work ehic. A lot goes into it and the key to recruiting is how you evaluate.
If John Calpari gets Noel and Shabazz do you think they could repeat for the title? Think the starting lineup being the Fab 5 with-Archie Goodwin(pg),Shabazz Muhammad(sg),Alex Poythress(sf),Nerlens Noel(pf) and Willie Cauley(c).
I think if they get both, they have a chance to make a deep run. The question will be PG because if Teague leaves, Ryan Harrow will be in charge.
Has the power of tobacco road switched to kentuckyania?? With louisville,iu and ky back in contention for many of the top recruits it feels like the power might be shifting>>your thoughts??
I wouldn't just switch to say the power has shifted because Duke and UNC are still powerhouse programs. We should have a tournament between all four teams.
How good can Glenn Robinson III be
He can be all-league eventually and contribute immediately as a freshman. His skill level and IQ for the game should allow him to play in the pros. We know how good he is and the country will soon find out.
Are people underestimating Syracuse in the Noel derby? Of the 3 teams in the race, they would be the best (on paper) if he were to choose them. Also, his close friend (Michael Carter-Williams) will be running the show next year. Your thoughts?
I'm certainly not underestimating Cuse. The one thing they have going against them is the amount of frontcourt players. Noel has become infatuated with the fans and the dome and I don't know why they are getting as much traction as Kentucky and Georgetown.
Where do you see Anthony Bennet going?
I see Bennett waiting to see where every one else goes first between KY, Fla. and UNLV. Those three look to be the leaders at this point and time.
So your writing off duke as a contender for shabazz and instead making them the front runner to land Jefferson? Also what does Noel mean when he tweeted yesterday "Gonna shock the World" ?
I'm not writing Duke off for Shabazz at all. He has tremendous admiration for Coach K and the program and they were on him early. All the comments from other people have him leaning in a different direction. As far as Noel, honestly, I have no idea but I can't wait to find out. Maybe he will cut his flat-top?
How much does Marcus Paige benefit from having a year and a half to watch Kendall Marshall run Roy's offense? Is he the player UNC fans should be excited about next year?
From watching him from a HS standpoint because Marshall is headed to the NBA, Paige and all PGs can learn how to pass and find the open man and be able to run a fast break or set up an offense. And fans should be excited about Paige because what makes him special is his ability to score and run the fast-break offense.
Does D. Manning leaving KU hurt the chances of Tony Parker coming to KU? Are there any surprises that could come KUs way for next year?
Great point, because Manning was responsible for the development of big men at KU. At the same time, Bill Self runs the show and has been developing players for a long time. Either way KU needs Parker. No surprises but Ben McLemore has been cleared to play and that is a tremendous boost for the Jayhawks.
Amile Jefferson has been rumored to be a Duke lean for a few weeks now. What is preventing him from pulling the trigger and making the commitment?
Jefferson has been a lean to a lot of different schools - KY, NC State and now Duke. I think he has a real hard time making a decision and I think he is going to let the smoke clear before he decides.
Any insight on Noel's tweet to "shock the world" or Muhammad's photo of his offer sheets?
Don't look into tweets or photos too much. It will drive you crazy.
Who is in the lead for Chris Obekpa? Any idea when he will decide?
Good news for you. Cincy is a the top of his list with Providence, DePaul and St. John's.
Is Andrew Wiggins the best player in hs basketball already? To me he has more upside with his quickness explosion and athletic ability then Jabari Parker
Wiggins is a top-five player in the country -- regardless of class -- but I'm not ready to move him in front of Parker just yet.
As of right now, what do you think about next year college basketball? Kentucky, Indiana or Louisville going to win it?
If I had to pick between those three, I'd take Louisville. Behannan and Dieng will be best frontcourt, Blackshear will be healthy and Siva will be back.
Paul,UCLA alum here, just wondering about our chances of signing Shabazz and Parker. After watching all of the success of UNC, Duke, KU, and UK over the past 5-10 years, i'd like to see my alma mater hang banner number 12 in Pauley.
If you get Shabazz and Parker, you will have a chance at the Pac-12 title and hanging a banner. But lets not forget you were at three straight Final Fours with Ben Howland and you need to appreciate that.
Thanks for all the questions. There were soo many Nerlens and Shabazz tomorrow. Both are meeting with their families tonight. Pollard will decide sometime after his visit to Georgetown and Parker will decide tomorrow morning. The signing period brings hope and excitement for next year. Thanks for following RecruitingNation. We will be chatting tomorrow at 3 p.m. again and Paul will be joined by Dave Telep, Reggie Rankin and Mike LaPlante.
