Good morning, everyone. I hope you're all having great success in your roto leagues and on your way in the finals of your H2H leagues. Let's get to the questions ...
With R.anderson back and Dwight supposedly in lineup Friday should I still hold onto G.Davis? Starting him tonight but concerned about PT going into weekend. Any opinion would be appreciated. Thanks for the chat's this year Tom!
It's hard to process the numbers that Davis is posting, but he's doing it. Back injuries can be tricky, so even once Howard returns, he could be one small move from missing more action. I would hold onto Davis and expect some decent numbers even if Howard plays.
Hey Tom! With M.Thorton and Nene possibly returning soon what are your thoughts on Terr.Williams and Seraphin? Have both and I'm in finals this week! FA's are: Speights,Favors,Ja.Smith,T.Thompson,S.Brown. 12 team cat 9. Thanks
Williams may still get some decent play, even with Thornton back, but I'd look to your waiver options ... Brown if you want scoring, the others for boards. I'm not quite buying Nene coming back quickly, since the Wiz are playing for nothing this season. Stick with Seraphin.
Morning Tom! If any more bad injury news comes out about my shin how long should my owners hold onto me? If I'm out Wed. also should owners hold for 2 more chances? FA's are: N.Robinson,Barea,S.Brown and A.Johnson. Any advice
I would only consider dropping Kobe if your H2H finals end on Sunday. He's good enough to post match in one game what your waiver options can do in two. If you do have to drop Kobe, I'd take Barea this week. If your league goes beyond this week, I wouldn't consider dropping Kobe unless news comes that he's going to be out several more games.
Any ideas on what to expect from lowry in terms of production NEXT WEEK?
He came out of the gates all right, but he needs to get his wind. I think there's a good chance he'll be up to speed next week, and since the Rockets play five games next week, he should be owned in all formats. If he gets his legs quickly, Lowry could be a game-changer in the waning days of the season.
Would you rather keep Rubio and lose a 7th rounder or keep Klay Thompson and lose a 10th?
That's an interesting question, Drew. Those three rounds can be significant, but I'd lean towards Rubio for a couple of reasons. Name recognition will increase his future trade value and dime machines are almost always more valuable than scorers. Despite his knee injury, I think his upside remains tremendously high ... probably higher than Klay's.
Dragic and Barea have helped me cruise through to h2h semi's. I expect to win and move to finals next week but I'm worried about those guys with Lowry and Ridnour looming but those guys are on waivers. What should I do?
I would do my best to make sure Lowry isn't on waivers anymore ... He has great upside for next week, and I think Dragic can continue to produce. I'm less sure about Ridnour returning soon, so I would keep riding Barea.
Any idea if Rose and Al Harrington will miss any games this week?
Rose appears to be a game-time call tonight. It would be surprising if Harrington plays though his torn meniscus, and shocking if he played well. I'd move on.
In semi's for h2h league. I just dropped Drew Gooden for Kenneth Faried. Did I make the right call?
Yes. Ride the Manimal!
Do you like JR Smith or Iman Shumpert more down the stretch?
Shumpert should give you better all-around stats, but Smith is getting force-fed shots and minutes, so I like him more down the stretch.
Tom.. I've been riding out Shannon Brown's play into the finals of my fantasy league. Is Grant Hill's return going to spoil Brown's minutes? Or has he earned his time for the rest of the season?
I'll be surprised if Hill is back before late next week, though he's hoping for Monday. His return should limit Brown's production, but I think the Suns have seen enough to continue feeding him as the season winds down. In other words, he should continue to contribute upon Hill's return, but his upside should be capped.
kevin martin worth holding for next week's finals?
There's been no news about an impending return, so I'd move on if there's a decent option on your waiver wire. With Lowry back and Dragic playing well, it's hard to imagine a sore-shouldered Martin having big games next week even if he makes a surprise return.
Did I just bait and switch fantasy owners and crush seasons and hearts across the nation?
Looks like you just had an off night ... you still have four more games this week to make up for it!
I see that San Antonio has a whole lot of games the next 2 weeks, which are my finals (if I advance). Is there anyone not the big 3 that are worth owning?
Kawhi Leanard and DeJuan Blair. Could see a surprise game or two from Stephen Jackson in the right matchup, too.
Kemba Walker or Greivis Vasquez rest of season? Thanks for answering our questions!
Glad to help. J.C. ... I like Walker over Vasquez ROS. He has an extra game the final week and his job is locked in. Eric Gordon and Jarrett Jack could limit Vasquez.
pekovic helped guide me to first place, but since returning from his injury, he has been pretty mediocre. taking a big hit with low rebounding numbers, is he worth a drop for gerald green?
I'd take Green, especially with Gerald Wallace sidelined.
Jack is out for the rest of season...
Yes, thanks for noting in reference to previous question about Vazquez ... I misspoke about Jack affecting his minutes.
Hey TC! I'm in a deep keeper/dynasty league where we can keep our entire roster if we choose. Who are some players that may not currently be on fantasy radars that you would grab for having potential to play well next season?
I would mine through injured players that have slipped off the radar. Bayless, Blatche, etc. Young guys with upside who are dinged up. Obviously, I like Bayless a lot more than Blatche, but Blatche is worth a keeper flier.
Should D-Wade sit out a while to rest that knee of his?
The only people in this forum who think he should sit and rest are those who are up against another team with Wade on their roster! He probably should rest, but he likes playing hurt, so I expect him to miss little action down the stretch. Knee seems to be less of an issue now anyway -- sounds like he'll play though his ankle ailment tonight.
Don't you think there's something fundamentally inane about leagues which are decided in the most irrelevant final weeks of the real season?
I prefer head-to-head leagues that wrap things up before the final short week of the season. But that's more to do with games played in that short week. However, I think there's something extremely exciting about roto leagues that go to the bitter end. Every team in the mix for the title should be vigorously working the waiver wire during the final days, which means a person who makes the right calls on waiver pickups has an edge ... an edge based on skill.
Do you think it is bush league for the two teams competing in the championship to orchestrate a split prize before the week begins?
I do think it's bush -- had it happen in my big-money football league this year. However, so long as the two of them are in agreement and there are no rules in your league forbidding it, there is nothing at all wrong with it. They are still playing for the trophy/title. If you don't like it, I recommend making a new rule for next season.
Should I drop Eric Gordon for Gallinari? In the 'ship & it runs thru the ROS.
I like Gallo slightly better, because his injury was to his off hand, so he should be pretty much ready to go ... including his conditioning. The exact opposite could be said about Gordon. I think he'll be up and down and in and out of the lineup.
How long do you think Tony Parker will be out on rest?
He's just getting spot rests like the other old dudes. The Spurs still have three more back-to-back sets and a back-to-back-to-back set next week. Expect Duncan, Parker and Manu to skip a few more games down the stretch.
That's all for today. Thanks as always for your questions. I'm sure we'll have plenty more to talk about as we get down to the final full week of the season next week. Good luck!
