NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth will be here in a few minutes to take your questions!

Daniel (IN)

hey Matt, big fan of yours. I know you've been really good here in your career; think you could pull out another win here this Saturday?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:45 PM)

Texas has been a really great track for us, but things change for us every time, so you have have to race hard and hope to get a good result.

Kevin (NJ)

Is there a different mentality during the regular season to get a win, as that would virtually guarantee you a spot in the Chase?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:46 PM)

Not really. I've never been in a race I didn't want to win. When you get closer to the Chase and desperation sets in, maybe you try something different. But other than that, nothing really changes.

Joe (Kentucky)

How does it make you drivers feel to know people like me represent your name and number everyday.

Matt Kenseth
  (12:47 PM)

That's a great feeling. The fans are what makes this all work and makes it all go around. When you see your fans there, it's a great feeling. I remember the first time seeing someone with my shirt on or number, it's a great feeling.

Josh (Center, Texas)

How did this years daytona 500 win compare to your last one?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:48 PM)

It was different. Being on a Monday night and all of the bizarre events. It was definitely different, but I can't put one in front of the other, they were both special.

dz (new mexico)

what do you like most about racing for rfr? i'm not a ford or rfr fan but i do respect ALL drivers. i wish you the best and hope you have more success.

Matt Kenseth
  (12:49 PM)

The thing I've always liked racing for Jack is they give what we need to win races. I've never been shut down or not get something for budget reasons. He gives us what we need to try and go out and get wins.

Randy (Dallas)

Matt, how will this year's race at TMS differ than past since you'll be under the lights? And do you prefer night races to day races?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:49 PM)

I think the fist one last year was at night. When you race at night, the cars usually have better grip.

Cardiox (Gulfport, Mississippi)

What are your thoughts on the speeds you were getting during tire testing at Michigan? Restrictor Plate?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:50 PM)

It was pretty fast. Whenever they pave these tracks, they have more grip. It was really fast.

Jim Baker (Pueblo, CO)

Why have the Fords struggled on the short tracks? You did very well, but even you needed some good luck at the end to get a top 5. Carl and Biff just didn't have it and this has seemed to be a pattern for the last half dozen short track races. Good luck this weekend at Texas, a win would just about nail down a chase spot for you and you could spend your time at the rest of the upcoming Chase tracks working on ideas. Maybe a breakthrough on the short and flat tracks can be found.

Matt Kenseth
  (12:51 PM)

I don't know. I think this year has been a good start for us on the short tracks. The cars have gone pretty well.

Josh (Center, Texas)

How do you feel about this weeks race in Texas?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:51 PM)

I feel good. It's always been a good track for us. One of our favorite tracks. I'm looking forward to getting there.

Teri (North Hollywood)

I saw your twitter picture of a Turkey running around at Michigan. What's the wierdest animal you've ever seen running wild at a track?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:52 PM)

That's a good question. I've seen some stuff at racetracks. Cats, deer. That was the first time I've seen a turkey.

Todd (Georgia)

Hey Matt. Did you ever pay Jr up on that bet you lost and have you thought of a way to get your money back from him yet?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:52 PM)

Yes I paid up immediately. I have not gotten my money back and I haven't thought of anything to do it yet.

cc (usa)

in the daytona 500 on the last lap were you more worried about biffle or earnhardt passing you

Matt Kenseth
  (12:53 PM)

I was really worried about both of them passing me. Once I got to Turn 3 I was hoping I could block them. I was just hoping that they wouldn't get a big run and get around me.

Josh (Center,Texas)

Do you have any pre race rituals?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:54 PM)

Not really. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just get up and get ready for the race.

Jack (Ohio)

Do you ever get bored during the race?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:55 PM)

No, never bored. There's only one time ever when I was in a car and thought I was bored, that's when we were at Pocono and blew a transmission and we were about 60 laps down. Nothing to lose for us.

Ken (VA)

What do you think about the upcoming Bristol changes? Did you like the old track better, or do you like the current version?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:55 PM)

I don't know what they are yet. So, I'm not sure.

Josh (Center, Texas)

Who are some of your favorite sports teams?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:56 PM)

My favorite sport is watching NFL. I'm a big NFL fan. Big Packer fan. I'm not sure I play much sports any more. I used to like playing football in the yard, but I'm getting up in age.

Teri (North Hollywood, CA)

Have you thought about what you would like to do when you retire from racing? Do you see yourself owning/running a team?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:56 PM)

I haven't put a lot of thought into that. I am 99% positive that I won't own a racing team.

John (Richmond)

Who was your favorite driver growing up?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:57 PM)

I had a lot of local short track heros that I liked. As far as NASCAR, probably Dale Earnhardt. I admired a lot of the guys at how hard they drove their cars.

Teri (North Hollywood, CA)

How would you feel if your daughters ever wanted to give raising a try?

Matt Kenseth
  (12:58 PM)

I probably wouldn't be too crazy about it. I would probaly talk them into doing something different.

Matt Kenseth
  (1:00 PM)

Thanks for participating in the chat. It was cool to come to Daytona today and see a bunch of people waiting on a Wednesday morning.
