Sean Adams
  (12:09 PM)

I'm here and ready to go. We have a lot of questions in the system right now but feel free to keep them coming...

Spooner (Dallas, TX)

Does Bobby Petrino work again in college football. Hasn't he set a history that this will come again?

Sean Adams
  (12:13 PM)

Yes, yes, yes! The reaction is strong right now (as it should be) but just like Kobe Bryant got his endorsements back, Tiger Woods got his back, Big Ben has found some peace and Larry Eustachy started working again Petrino will find his way back. He is regarded as one of the best offensive minds in football. He'll be back in college in the next couple of years after a stint in the NFL. Just my opinion.

Nicholas (CC, Tx)

Ash's TD vs INT ratioi this season?

Sean Adams
  (12:16 PM)

If I had to guess right now I'll say 19 TD's and 10 ints. By the way, if he has those numbers Texas will win at least 9 games.

Jared (Kyle, TX)

We keep hearing that David Ash is a lot more confident now? Do you buy that?

Sean Adams
  (12:21 PM)

I don't think anyone can help but buy it. I always look at confidence as fragile until it's earned. Before you earn it between the chalk you are really stealing from the TV show West Wing 'act as if ye have faith and faith will come'. In other words, fake it until you make it. He needs to have success and have it early. If he does then he has a shot to erase last year over the next three.

Megatron (Maryland)

What do you think the Texas Basketball starting line-up will look like? After watching some videos of Prince Ibeh (a blocking machine), I think he should definitely start along with Ridley. So I was thinking, Ridley-Ibeh-Holmes-McClellan-Kabongo with Felix, Lewis, and Lammert rounding out the 8-man rotation. How do you see the rotation working out?

Sean Adams
  (12:25 PM)

I like your lineup. For some reason I have always thought that Lammert would do really well with a red-shirt. I think he can be really good but may need some seasoning time. He is a four or five year program guy that can play well and Barnes has needed those in the progam.

Nicholas (CC, Tx)

Ash ranks 8th on the QB list in Big 12. Where do you put him given his progress at this point?

Sean Adams
  (12:29 PM)

I cannot bring myself (with all respect to the folks at the magazine that did the rankings) to place guys with no experience and marginal success above a guy that struggled but grew and got a bowl win as a freshmen. I would put him as 6th right now. By the way, I would also move up Kansas QB Dayne Crist. You shouldn't downgrade a guy based on the fact that he's been hurt before.

Tony (Richmond, CA)

Now that Ridley has finally signed, what is your outlook for Horns basketball next season?

Sean Adams
  (12:38 PM)

Having a big time athletic big man coupled with the return of Myck Kabongo makes me think this team is about 4th in the Big 12 in 2012/2013. I don't think Kansas States falls off as much as some might think. Obviously Kansas and Baylor will both be very good. Texas will be right there in that next group and should be dancing next year. How deep will the dance go? That's the million dollar question.

Caleb Pettis (Indianapolis, IN)

Next year Texas will have a top five defense in the country. They have five candidates on defense for 1st team all conference. (2CB 2DE 1S) Very good DT filling in and highly recruited linebackers starting. We have a better than average OL coming back with addition of the Juco transfer. Three of the best running backs in the nation. Receivers are good. Quarterback play will improve this year. I dont believe it could get any worse. We have a great recruiting class coming in. Why are we not considered for the BCS national championship?

Sean Adams
  (12:47 PM)

I agree with everything you said but the whole nation is Missouri on Texas right now. Texas has to show the nation that they are back and ready to compete on a big stage. Texas will have plenty of opportunities to make a statement to the nation of college football. As far as the BCS Championship conversation, Texas can't be part of that conversation with no established and and known leader for the offense. Talk to me after Oklahoma.

Jared (Kyle, TX)

You always say that a mortgage payment will strip the fan out of people. If you had to put a mortgage payment on how many games Texas wins in 2012, how many would you bet?

Sean Adams
  (12:58 PM)

There are four 'push' games for me. Oklahoma, Kansas State, West Virginia and TCU are all games that could go either way. Texas Tech and oklahoma State could be interesting but the season will swing on the four 'push' games. Just to be safe I would say 9 wins for Texas in the regular season in 2012.

Derrin (Plano, TX)

What is the feeling around Austin about the hiring of Aston to replace Goestenkors as head coach of the womens basketball?

Sean Adams
  (1:01 PM)

It is a mixed bag. People that know women's basketball feel great about it. Texas fans that want the 'wow' hire might be struggling to feel they got it. I know you didn't ask my opinion but I like the hire.

Derrin (Plano, TX)

Who will be more dominant this year on the defensive side of the ball, Brandon Moore or Jackson Jeffcoat?

Sean Adams
  (1:05 PM)

Here are the possibilities - Moore could be more disruptive but might actually shove stats towards Jeffcoat. Offensive lines will still more often than not block inside/out so Jeffcoat could find himself in advantaged positions especially with Okafor on the other side.

phillip (DC )

Why does Texas seem to rack up # 1or top five recruiting classes year after year, but has been so down the last few years? Do the recruits not have heart, or do the coaches not have brain?

Sean Adams
  (1:10 PM)

There was a shift in recruiting some but in the end the 2008 class was gutted and in large part under whelming. The coaching staff is doing great evaluation now and I would expect that to continue. The other point, all of the classes were not ranked in the Top 5.

Lee Vandaveer (Lake Hawkins, Texas)

Honestly, has WR Mike Davis progressed at all or who will be his replacement?

Sean Adams
  (1:13 PM)

His progress was needed in his engagement and the mental side of the game. He seems to be all back there. His skillset and ability was never the question. I would be really shocked if Mike Davis does not have a great year.

Chris (NY)

Do you think any of the incoming freshman for the basketball team will redshirt?

Sean Adams
  (1:16 PM)

If I had to guess Lammert would be the guy. But Barnes may need him for depth. In a Barnes system of defense he need bodies so red-shirting is hard to come by if a player gives a lot of effort and is coachable.

Thomas (The Woodlands, TX)

How is Ash's accuracy and poise under pressure compardd to last year?

Sean Adams
  (1:20 PM)

With the amount of play we saw in the spring game I don't think any off us know but I believe his management of the huddle and leadership skills have developed. A lot of what we learn about him is what we will see starting September 1 against Wyoming. We'll learn a little bit more about him week by week.

phillip (DC )

What are the chances of a BAMA/Longhorns 10 game series--home and home? Chances aside, would you favor such a series?

Sean Adams
  (1:23 PM)

I would favor such a series in a playoff format. Under the current system there is too little margin for error to have that game on the schedule for 10 years. One loss usually knocks a team out of BCS National Championship centention.

Stephen (Seattle, WA)

I can see the running game averaging 175 to 200 yrds a game next year [all rb healthy] do you think Ash could throw for 200 a game on average?

Sean Adams
  (1:30 PM)

I think your running game numbers are light. I think this running game with the improved offensive line will put up 250 to 275 yards per game. Passing game should average just short of 200 yards per game.

Steve (Tyler, TX)

Do you think recruiting will continue to get earlier and earlier with it being customary for teams to take recruit commits as juniors and sophomores? AND What is the downside of getting a kid deciding so early?

Sean Adams
  (1:32 PM)

It can only move on the schedule so much before you get real deminishing returns. The downside of getting kids so early is that they could lose motivation and the coaching staff may have a bad evaluation based on projected growth and development.
